    Cersei is horrible, but nothing she is saying to Sansa is untrue. And the pathos at the end, when you realize why she was so angry and drunk, because she was preparing herself to kill her child to spare him a more horrible fate. Remember the Targaryen children: they were butchered; no potential claimant can be permitted to survive.

    "pig shit" was a reference to wildfire. it was an inside joke between Tyrion and Bronn, because a couple episodes before that reference they were talking about using wildfire in the battle and Bronn had said "it may as well be pig shit" or something to that effect.

    Davos wasn't a smuggler of onions par say. He smuggled whatever pirates would sell him from their hauls. The reason he 'smuggled' onions that one time was because he knew of the siege and had a moment of conscious, grabbed whatever food he could find (in this case, mostly onions) and sailed his little boat to supply Storm's End in secret. Normally I suspect he'd have been smuggling silks, spices, furs, the sort of things lesser lords and rich merchants would be happy to buy under the table no questions asked.

    • @hypocritex

    As a rule of thumb, they say that defenders have a 3:1 advantage compared toward the attackers, meaning you should have a at least 3 times as many attackers as they have defenders.

    • @andrewward5891
      @andrewward5891 8 місяців тому +1

      Kings landing didn’t have many defenders since the bulk of the Lannister army was with Tywin. Probably a few hundred Lannister soldiers and the City Watch were defending the city. Stannis originally had a small army but got most of Renly’s bannermen from the Stormlands (though not the Tyrels) after he killed Renly. So Stannis probably had at least 10,000 soldiers. Even after losing at least a third of his men from wildfire he still outnumbered the defenders several times over.

    • @Immundissime1
      @Immundissime1 8 місяців тому +2

      @@andrewward5891 The numbers in the show are confusing. Renly had 100.000 soldiers (!!!) according to him earlier in the show (which is absurd by medieval terms anyway). Tyrells left and they had somewhat 20.000 I believe so it leaves Stannis with ~80.000. I mean army that size can't really go by ships, it's impossoble with those times technologies. And Stannis actually outnumbers all of the Lannisters forces combined (especially considering Robb defeated and dispersed half of Lannisters forces when he captured Jaime). City as huge as King's Landing can't be stormed, it can be sieged, starved or breached via intrigues and etc but storming half a million population city will fail no matter what.
      So TLDR - just don't take anything related to medieval warfare in the show seriously. There are numerous things and details which makes it unrealistic. It's made for entertainment and a lot of things are simplified or discarded.

      @Immundissime1 I would argue 100k soldiers in medieval times while rare was not impossible. I think that's a bad study of history. There are plenty of occasions where medieval armies had the hundred of thousands. Not even forgetting Romes legion sizes hundreds of years before hand.

    • @Immundissime1
      @Immundissime1 8 місяців тому +1

      @@wiedzmin8204 Professional historians would argue that most numbers in historic documents are quite over exaggerated (since those historic documents are very like nowadays propaganda which they mostly were in those times). I'm totally wrong in terms of other than european medieval feudal armies though since I was mostly talking for Westeros as similar to Europe feudal society. Mongol forces i.e. had those numbers for sure but they definetely don't match 'feudal army' description. Roman Empire (also not feudal) back in the days could totally have more than 100.000 but it was a huge empire over vast territories with humongous economy and advanced means to support such an army (remember as romans built roads and temporary camps everywhere - it was a very well organized and controlled structure and that was one of the reasons they succeeded in conquering most of Europe). And a very important topic is what a 100.000 army actually is and how it works in those times. Neither Mongols nor Romans could've assemble such army in one particular place. They were always divided into multiple separate 'brigades' for controllability/logistics/supplies and other reasons. Even 10-20.000 armies had a lot of problems with that and gathering 100.000 together was quite impossible task. There were no means to supply that amount of ppl in one place for any amount of days. And how do you even control that in those times?

    41:20 No, you can’t just “push” a ladder away from a wall during a siege. I saw some Mythbusters recreation of this: basically there is too much weight from the men climbing up the ladder for someone at the top of a wall to be able to push it away. There is too much weight, they aren’t strong enough, and there just isn’t enough leverage to push effectively. This is why most castle walls had a slope leading to them-the angle of the slope keeps ladders from being able to be set as effectively as if they were placed on flat ground.

  • @Taesbil

    Tyrion cutting off that leg felt like a nice little homage paid to the first book hahaha. In AGOT, Tyrion fights more than we see in the show. When Cat's taken him and the group gets attacked, he actually fights a lot and does really well, utilising his short stature to sweep by enemies. And he fights with an ax, not with a shield. I saw the show before I started reading the books, so I found that difference very interesting!

    I wouldn't call Robson & Jerome an actual band. They were in a TV show, and in the TV show, they sang a song, so the recording of that song was released as a single. There was a follow-up, maybe even an album, but it wasn't really a band. Just 2 guys singing cover songs to a backing track, and it was more a spinoff of the TV show than an actual organic act. But they did get a couple number #1 singles before they disappeared. Then again...one of them was Unchained Melody. Everyone and their dog has had a number #1 single with that song.

    Nice reaction ladies! Today I learned the Blackwater drink is made with pig 💩, and it is best served with Grey Poupon (💩 on?) - the Dijon mustard brand.
    Speaking of pig 💩, will Ashley and Lindsay ever find out what the pig 💩 is referring to?
    *FUN FACTS:* "Penultimate" comes from Latin. "Pen" is the Latin prefix meaning almost. "Ultimate" in Latin means the last, the final, the end, or farthest. Then there is "antepenultimate", which means “the third from the last.”

    Bron is the one who was calling the wildfire “pig shit” when he was trying to discredit it when the pyromancer was talking about it when they first discovered it. He said something along the lines of “if I had a coin for every time I saw a man selling pig shit claiming it’s some magical…” blah blah or something like that lol but yeah that’s where it comes from..so you weren’t exactly wrong 😂 they did use it.

    I guess it's a bit of a dilemma deciding what details to clarify in the middle of the story and which not to because it would be spoiling or over-explaining. But I'm surprised Stefani didn't just go ahead and say that "pig shit" = the green "wildfire" stuff. It's not a big deal either way, but it drove me a little bonkers hearing them continually ask,. "What about the pig shit?"

    Origin of penultimate: From the latin Paene, meaning almost, and ultimus, meaning last, became paenultimus, which then became penultimate in roughly the 17th century AD.
    Just adding to the useless knowledge in your brains.
