To my aussie friends!! You should be so proud of all your groups, but i have watched and listened to this song and amazingly it gets better every time i hear it. I don't ever get tired of it. I hope john makes a good recovery from his condition. He has given his entire life to Australia unconditionally . His connection to his fans and audiences is unbelievable. You should be proud of him, he is a national treasure.
Considering this is usually his final song after a two and a half hour concert you definitely can't say he doesn't give his all. Here's a shout out to John while he battles mouth and throat cancer. 😢
Ty so much for your review. What is so sad for us Aussies is that this remarkable human has been diagnosed with cancer and is recovering from a recent operation to remove it. What is even sadder is he may never sing again due to this diagnosis. I’m so privileged for I have seen him live many times and I’m so blessed to have those memories as many of us here r. I’m forever a fan of this amazing man. Ty again.
I was at the whispering Jack concert during 1987 - SPent the entire time on my feet singing and dancing. The energy was so huge it took hours before I could sleep. John at his peak... a wonderful man, a wonderful husband, a wonderful father - an amazing human being who has risen from the ashes.
At the same concert, John performs The Beatles- HELP. But his rendition is nothing like the original Beatles version. John Lennon heard John Farnham version and commented: "this is how the song should be sung". Also, the audience participation at the beginning of HELP, is astounding. Thank you for reacting to John Farnham.
You got is soo right when you expressed that the orchestra was there for John Farnham. He is well respected and loved as you can see by the response of the audience. In fact the country respects and admires him so much that in1987 he was named 'Australian Of The Year' by our Federal Government for "his outstanding contribution to the Australian music industry over 20 years".
You’re the voice, by the voice, not only Australia’s but the greatest male vocalist of all time. So many of John’s songs convey a positive and powerful message, and this is probably the greatest. John can and has sing a most genres, including opera. He is just epic. And did you see that mic stand throw meters into the air and John catches it(a regular thing with John) he loves his mic and mic stand tricks.
No matter how many times I watch this, I still get a tear in the eye when the piper and John salute each other..... Awesome song, stunning performance and great reaction. Thank you.
I love how when he really belts it out he is holding the mike 1-2 feet from his mouth and it still picks up his voice while singing next to an Orchestra.
John’s got one of the best voices I’ve ever heard. This is maybe the third or four time he’s been in the channel and the man is amazing. Then when you combine him, the song’s message and that orchestra, it becomes magic. Loved this song and your comments. 😀
This song is perfect. I can't say that about many songs at all. There's just nothing you could change to improve it. Lyrically it's inspirational without being clichéd, the vocal is incredible, the choice of tempo is brilliant. And the bagpipes? Like, I can't take it! 😆 But seriously, how could you make this track any better? You just can't.
Farnsey is just amazing! His records are fantastic but his live performances always outshine his studio performance. He just seems to feed off his audience and he just loves the audience singing along with him. Every song at this concert was just plain and simply, awesome! Thank you for your great reaction!
Growing up as a kid, this was one song that everyone knew. This would be my absolute favourite, symphony orchestra, bagpipes and John Farnham!! Could listen to this over and over again....wait, I've heard it about about 6 times already today!
I thank you for your comments on John Farnham here in Australia he is just the voice . He can sing anything he is that good. Unfortunately as you said any negative comments are from small minded people who are very jealous and there is great music on outside of America.im.a proud Aussie and we have some of the best music
Having lived in Australia for many years, I came to realise that John Farnham is the greatest singer ever, and this song is the ultimate anthem to define what peace on a world scale means. 'We're all someone's daughter, we're all someone's son, how long can we look at each other, down the barrel of a gun'. No other song or singer has ever said it better or with more conviction.
One of John Farnhams best recorded performances is “gethsemane” from his Jesus Christ superstar tour in the early 90s.. Makes John Legends latest rendition sound like a tik tok production.
The bagpipes are very Aussie - many Australians come from convict stock and freemen from Ireland and Scotland ........... I myself as a young girl [60 years ago] learned Scottish Highland Dancing [you know around the crossed swords] for a time, and we would also go to the Sydney Cricket Oval and listen to the Pipe bands practice. Also in our speech you will hear throwbacks to certain phrases from both countries. John is really "The Voice' and glad you will be looking into his catalogue further.
Anyone who reacts to John Farnham, especially in a positive manner, automatically gains a sub + like from me. John is a fantastic entertainer. I am Australian, so I am probably a bit biased, but he has one of the greatest voices ever!!
I remember back in the day having to drive out of the state of Queensland where gambling was once illegal to NSW to see Johnny perform at the casinos there. He’s The Voice ❤
You should react to John Farnham ‘help’ live with the Melbourne symphony orchestra. Crazy performance. Also you should check out Jimmy Barnes who is another Australian icon, specifically his performance with Joe bonamassa ‘stone cold’
Farnham simply floods the entire arena with unbridled joy. Maybe no entertainer has so reveled in his work since Al Jolson. And, like Jolson, everyone loves him. Fantastic reaction; thanks for sharing!
The black woman in the back up singers is one of the best voices to ever come to Australia her name is Venetta Fields. There is a video of her and John and Billy Fields( no relation )singing Amazing Grace arcapella that has to be heard to be believed .
