I'm an Australian and there is no one who is more loved and appreciated in Australia than John Farnham. Thank you John for always staying humble, caring and dedicated to your music. Angus, Bon and Malcolm will love your version of this iconic song. RIP Bon and Malcolm. Thank you for the joy you brought us.
I'd never heard this song before and I'd never heard Farnham do anything but ballads before. This is one of the greatest things I've ever heard and I've listened to music my whole life. The performance is on such a high level of authentic showmanship it's almost bizarre. WOW.
John sings so many different songs; from rock, (try watching his cover of Led Zepplin's - Black Dog; better than the original IMO) pop, blues, everything in between with a bit of opera plus rock-opera (Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar - the Sydney Opera House last night version is epic). He is also a humble, caring human who strives for his whole audience to have the time of their life at his performances (and they do!).
HA! Only John could get a symphony orchestra to rock like this and enjoy it. Did you see the conductor's face? 🤣 ...and at 73 he can still hit those notes. It's true he didn't go to the US or the UK to "make it" he stayed right here 💖 There are a few entertainers who can take control of the stage and the audience and John is a natural 😎

John is Australia’s favourite son. He can sing any genre and he is so awesome on stage, it really irks me that most reactors from the USA use the studio versions of his songs to react to instead of his live performances because they are so used of your singers sounding better that way. Most Aussie singers sound so much better live! John is a wonderful humanitarian, he is funny, he is giving of his time and huge talent to any worthy cause! He is a wonderful husband and father. His fame has not gone to his head, he is just like the bloke next door, the mate you would love to have a beer with at the pub. He treated his band and his fans like they were family and I think that he would be the only celebrity alive who would tell us all about his vasectomy on national TV! Oh and he knew how to rock leather pants! Nearly forgot that he is a rain god for his outdoor performances especially when he is doing a concert for drought stricken areas! You’re the VOICE John!
Being at a Farnsey concert is one of the best experiences you get in life. Exquisite. Where else would you get to see a symphony orchestra rocking out like that. And there's nothing this guy can't sing and make it his own. His voice is a true gift . 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Check out any thing from that concert it was great .
i'm one of the lucky people who grew up in the 70s n 80s with all these fantastic Aussie artists. I've seen Farnsey 17 times live, and would be first in line to buy tickets to No18 if it was up to me. Growing up with / in the Aussie pub scene, we were so spoiled - we would hit the pubs to see Jimmy Barnes, Cold Chisel, Diesel, Midnight Oil, INXS, Jon Stevens, Noiseworks, Screaming Jets, Vi Capri, Wendy Matthews, Tina Arena, Divynals, AC/DC, and many more, and be up close and personal with them all. Australia really rocked it out and it was AWESOME. Oh lordy, to be back in those days..........Keep going the Aussie rabbit hole, coz we're loving it m8 xox
Great list there Roslyn. I saw many of them over the years. Nice to see Vi Capri there. Don't forget the 90's with bands like Custard, Regurgitator, Baby Animals, Vanessa Amorossi, The Drones, You am I and many more.
Every concert of John's was like this... 200% from everyone on the stage every time... he did Long Way and then came back after more than 2 and a half hours of singing like this and did Help as an encore. John is a very special person (like a lot of our artists are) we are very protective of him... because we love him.
OMG! This is not the John Farnham I (thought) I knew and loved. And a stage full of fabulous musicianship and energy. I can't breathe and I LOVE it! Your reaction is exactly perfect.
Dimash is a boring as hell robot with stage 'presence' that has all the humanity and spontenaity choreographed out of it. See him five nights in a row and I'm sure you'd get five identical performances.
I think this version is even better than AC/DC, John’s range is endless and with an orchestra is simply sensational and everyone is having the best time.
As you’re an RnB singer yourself, I recommend you to check out John and the band doing “That’s What Love Will Make You Do LIVE 2000”. John is great as usual (RnB & jazz) and each section of the band does a solo part. It’s as different again as this AC/DC classic was to the others in his repertoire. Also reconfirming that you’re now my overall favourite reviewer!
Man there is nothing or no genre this dude cannot sing and not only sing but absolutely slay it. Look how much fun he has doing his craft and how infectious it is on the crowd and the band. Next check out his sound check of the led Zepplin hit “black dog”
Yes you tell them brother I hate when people lipsink that use there mouth not there voice I love John farnham because he puts in every song he sings not many people could do that now because of the stuff you just said John farnham is now 75 years old and free from mouth cancer he only sings at his house but hope he hasn't lost that beautiful voice he's always there for his fans thank you for showing the love for John because we love him too and you thank you 😊 ❤from Australia 🇦🇺
I've loved John's performances since I first heard him in 1968. I could listen to him for hours. I encourage you to also listen to the late Judith Durham and The Seekers. This is why a lot of Australians & New Zealanders say this legend is the best. This man can sing any genre of music just put a mic in his hand and you will get an awesome performance any & every time. He can't wait to get on that stage and give the performance 150% for his fans. If you watch or have been to one of his concerts he loves shaking hands, and interacting with the crowd while belting the high notes, outstanding vocal control.
Great passionate review, my man. We are very pleased to be able to share our best acts with you after 50 years of having them ignored by the rest of the world. We knew we were hearing greatness - it's nice to be vindicated. Everyone on that stage had worked, studied and played hard to deserve a place in the spotlight. As you say: "Even though I am late to the party...at least I came to the damn party." And you were most welcome.
Thank you for introducing me to this guy - also glad I at least made it to the party! And you know as a Steely Dan fan that I totally love artists that know what real musicianship and performance are - and that take big beautiful bands full of top-flight musicians on tour! I wouldn't mind if you did a whole series on live performances of outfits like that, past and especially present.
John loved his family and he hated being away from them...that is the reason he didn't want to travel to far. Have a look at him perform LIVE in 2020 Fire Fight Concert he's 70 plus and the voice is still there.
For a complete change of pace - Angels LIVE 2000 is an amazing performance by John and Lisa Edwards, one of his long time backup singers; they harmonize so well together!
I've NEVER been crazy about this song but John can make anything sound incredible!🔥 I love how the conductor of the Melbourne Symphony has an absolutely BLAST when John's performing! 🎶 The conductor is rocking when they're usually standing there like stones! Fantastic reaction as always, Michael!🎶😊 John's 73rd birthday was July 1st! Belated Happy Birthday, John! 🥳
And then he came out and sang Help as an encore. John has said that Long Way to the Top is his favourite rock song of all time. He can sing anything. Playing to Win is also full of energy. He wrote it when he was in the Little River Band.
Now that’s the real Thunder From Down Under. With a full orchestra no less? What talent THAT man has. Fantabulous performance and your comments were excellent as usual bro. 🔥🔥

We love him dearly and are praying for his fast recovery from cancer.
So good! John hits G5 in this song, right at the upper limit of his vocal range so this is a great one to showcase his talent! And it’s just so effortless for him too! He could stand on his head and still deliver a flawless performance.
John always said this is the best Rock and Roll song ever written. He finishes most concerts with this one. I MAY be biased....but he has the best voice in the world. He isn't called 'The Voice' for nothing. EVERY concert...that man gives 110%. Over 100 concerts and he has never let me down.
We all love John in Australia he is an absolute legend and you’ll never hear anyone say a bad thing about him!! He’s the most down to earth person you’ll ever meet! And you are bang on about your summation about todays artists!! We ❤️ john!!! I remember growing up watching this on tape as a kid this whole concert on repeat. My mum gave me a great music history growing up! So much so I struggle with much of todays music!
You may not be aware that this mightily talented singer is recovering from an operation for cancer of his mouth. One can only wish him a full recovery and that we may all have the honour of listening to him sing once again.
I am proclaiming the word/description "WOW" being added to the english dictionary - but with untold meanings. I did hear another Reaction gentleman who was obviously stuck for words as he kept repeating WOW multiple times. I personally would like to compliment you on your glowing and descriptive "Reactions"
I love both versions, and I loved Bon Scott too. He was taken way too soon. I have followed our John Farnham for 50 years and he is just phenomenal. Both live and recorded!
Was only a kid but I loved him even then. Was about 4 or 5 when thus concert was on the telly and Mum said I watched and sang along the whole 3hrs! Xo Australia 🇦🇺
Ah 34 years ago that concert was bloody brilliant and I was 1 of thousands that went to that particular concert. All around Australia if you had that ticket we knew what we were going to get.And know watching everyone catch up to that concert and hearing him sing now, He has become an Aussie Legend. ❤🇦🇺
Can you imagine being in that audience? The excitement, the adrenaline pumping, your heart racing? The crowd singing and dancing. Literally being Present and not only watching and listening to Farnsey, his band, the backup singers And the orchestra but being a part of the concert! Oh how I wish I'd been there.
And this was the end of 2.5 hour concert with very little breaks. We love our John Farnham. Yes thankfully you came to the party!! ❤❤❤ Keep watching!! You'll never get enough. No gimmicks with John. Just a pure entertainer and a G.O.A.T. 🥰🥰🥰
The miracle that is John Farnham, is that he can take something that is already incredible and make it mind-blowing and impossible to replicate. Only he can do what he did with songs that he blessed with his voice. I hope he understands what a gift he is to us, and how loved he is. John is living proof that angels walk amongst us, because that voice isn't human it was heaven sent.
This is the magic of these concerts , put together the singer and his band with the classically trained orchestra add the crowd and it becomes pure magic you can see the orchestra loved being involved.
Thank you so much. In a totally different vein, his Amazing Grace live with Venetta Fields and Lindsay Field, his back up singers is also a pretty awesome watch. Loving your Farnsey reactions. He is the greatest!😄
Thanks for another great reaction. You say you hear him sing ballads, and then you hear him sing this, and wonder where the limit is. Put it this way, give him your shopping list to sing and it will be a hit - he can sing anything and it will be great. And I'm sure we have all told you before, but I'll tell you again just to make sure you don't forget - make sure you react to live performances when it's Farnham 😁. As you see more of him you will start to see his personality come through. This performance for example - how many rock performers have you heard say to the fans "Be careful on the roads. I love you" at the end. And you may have also noticed if you want to attract Aussies do a Farnham reaction! 🤣 Keep 'em coming!
OMG whoever organised the music is beyond belief. Firstly the backup singers are individuals in their own right magnificent. a combination of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the band and the individual instrumentalist like the guitars, saxophone, the bagpipe, piano, violins, percussion etc is just absolutely brilliant. The arrangements, the lighting breathtaking. I reckon this is the greatest concert ever. It had it all. Real talent no BS. love from Australia
This is an absolutely EPIC performance, there is just SO much going on. From the band, the backing singers, the orchestra, John and of course the audience. If you don't know anything about John Farnham, you don't know anything! Well now you do know him, welcome to the club mate, I can't wait for more. Cheers!!
I always imagined other artists being afraid of John doing a cover of their hits. It is never the same and John puts that energy into everything he does. The Orchestra love to play for him and he is such a gentleman he will have introduced them all during the show before he thanks the audience and asks them to be careful driving home. I miss his live shows and I miss his heart. Have you heard him sing Opera or Country yet? Country surprised me.
He loves what he does, he values everyone on that stage, and every instrument he's used. He appreciates every audience at every show, big or small. I saw him live at a small concert in rural Victoria, it rained on and off through out, I sat with a plastic bag protecting my clothes, and he put just as much effort on that stage to a crowd of a couple hundred as he did in this one. His energy is felt in every song.
You need to react to John's Swing version of You're The Voice, his Jazz/Funk version of That's What Love Make You Do and Little Richard's Long Tall Sally
I have had the joy of seeing John perform live. I have also seen a number of other artists sing. There is no comparison. Every time John performs its a sellout performance. The one thing he loves to do is make people happy.
You can only imagine how much the usually staid orchestra members must have felt about that little stand up and swipe section!! Everyone having a ball. John’s voice stupendous as the lead instrument. People got their money’s worth at that gig!
Respect for your closing comments.👍

So good! John hits G5 in this song, right at the upper limit of his vocal range so this is a great one to showcase his talent! And it’s just so effortless for him too! He could stand on his head and still deliver a flawless performance.
The Voice rocked ACDC's Classic! There's something here for Everybody!! Awesome reaction!!
I'm guessing the orchestra will remember this fun performance forever!
He is now 73 years of age and he can still sing exactly like he did back in the '80's. Great entertainer.
John always said this is the best Rock and Roll song ever written. He finishes most concerts with this one. I MAY be biased....but he has the best voice in the world. He isn't called 'The Voice' for nothing. EVERY concert...that man gives 110%. Over 100 concerts and he has never let me down.
John can sing anything and make it sound epic!
This concert went for 3hours on TV at the same time 😊❤❤
Was only a kid but I loved him even then.
That conductor is having a ball.
To see him in concert doing this stuff is an experience never to be forgotten. You're hyped for hours later.
It makes me feel so proud to hear your words...this man means so much to us. Thank you! 🇦🇺
Spot on ❤
Can you imagine being in that audience?
There is another version where John sings this with Tom Jones.
Epic.
We just plain love him, and have done for decades. Enjoy everything he does, you will be continually amazed.
Thank you so much. In a totally different vein, his Amazing Grace live with Venetta Fields and Lindsay Field, his back up singers is also a pretty awesome watch. Loving your Farnsey reactions. He is the greatest!😄
the standout to me was when he did Carols by Candlelight and sang Silent night with Beeb and Gobes from LRB
John was huge in Europe and Asia. Being at one of John’s concert was epic from start to finish and his banter was joyous.
we aussies have a silly saying..."its a long way to the shop if you want a sausage roll" Johns song has made it one of our coloqyal sayings xxxx
😂😂😂
Well my friend that's some deep rock and roll right there I'll tell you amazing
As l write this John is in hospital in Melbourne undergoing cancer surgery , we are devastated and praying for a good result .
How can you tell when a man has supreme confidence in himself? He dances around in front of thousands of people with a tambourine.
Hahaha...it's a long way to the shop if you want a sausage roll, how good is he, love, love, love it!!!!!!!🤣😂🤣
OMG whoever organised the music is beyond belief.
It’s a total celebration of music! Love it!
Great words too DramaSydE ✌🏼
And then he came back on and sang Help!
Johnny Farnham is an International Treasure YåLL, 🦘🎵🌅
Prayers 🙏🏼🥲 that his surgery is Mutually Beneficial 🙏🏼🎵☂️🌅 4:41
Soo lucky to have seen every concert of John's
He's a legend here in Aus❤
Definitely not the Farnham I remember but what a GREAT performance! Thank you for sharing
"Excellence, personified". That is the best description of Farnsey I've heard. Great reaction :)
this makes Aussies proud when people like you enjoy the best we have....& John is most definitely one of the best anywhere ever.
AC-DC was honoured to have John sing this hit. It's an Aussie thing. We help each other out........ Well.. We used to... 😟
