Firstly, I just want to say thank you so much for 1000 subscribers. I really appreciate it so much. More than that number however the thing I have loved most about having this channel has been the interaction and comments from the viewers. It really feels like a community to me. Even if I don't get back to every comment I read all of them and I really feel like I learn so much more about the subject matter of what I am reacting to. Thank you!! With regards to this video. WOW. Just WOW. Everything about the performance and song were stunning. The music, the voice and the lyrics (not to mention the amazing bagpipe solo) created a masterpiece. All I can say is John Farnham is a legend!!
Hey mate if you want a good Aussie classic with bagpipes you gotta check out the original video for ACDC it's a long way to the top. Has been covered by John but do the original first
He sure is a legend. For someone to have been at the top of his game with hits in every decade from the 60's right through until to 2016, and known and loved by every generation from young kids to grannies says it all. When it was announced a couple if months ago that he had undergone 12 hour surgery to remove a cancerous tumour and part of his jaw from his mouth, Australia went into shock. The outpouring of well wishes and love for him has been amazing. His sons went on TV to give us an update to let us know he is recovering well. We don't care if he never sings again we just want him to get well. ❤️
G’day Mat. I was one of the blokes who suggested, that as a Scot, you would love this performance. Just so you know. The Bagpipe Solo, isn’t/wasn’t just for the live shows either. It’s always been a big part of the music vid to. And whilst the music vid tries to tell a story. When the bagpipes come on, they are getting centre stage their as well. Glad you enjoyed it. And your right. Bagpipes should be used more. Amazing Grace has used them in the past. But, Amira Willinghagen has the best version ever. And if you want more things to review, then this young girl/lady will blow your socks off. She learnt how to sing watching UA-cam. Their is a particular Viewing order, that I strongly suggest you follow, especially the 1st 3. I’ve included the links. And her amazing grâce video is their too. You could start with that too, as she is much older, and then start from the beginning. Have fun and enjoy. Holland’s Got Talent Ep1 Just remember, it’s about who has talent, not who is perfect. She does have a few phrases/breath control issues, but it’s still a delight. And the reasons soon became clear as to why. I have never seen so many truly and honestly GOBSMACKED reactions from judges before. Their jaws were literally dropping in sheer and absolutely honest disbelief and in (very pleasant) surprise too. Her calm poise is also a wonder to behold as well. And she was only Nine years old. Also, watch out for when they show the shocked draw dropping reaction from another contestant backstage. It’s priceless in its own way too. ua-cam.com/video/NHe0u1pF7qg/v-deo.html Holland’s Got Talent Ep2 At this stage, she has had a few lessons, and it truly shows. The improvement is so great, that this is still my favourite rendition of this song from her, to date. ua-cam.com/video/FUnrLMvpQLk/v-deo.html Holland’s Got Talent Ep3 This has two parts. The performance and the results. I’m having difficulty finding and English translation version for the 2nd part. But you get the gist anyway. The second part also includes a spontaneous encore performance as well. ua-cam.com/video/dy00lD2bYT0/v-deo.html Encore ua-cam.com/video/ILoC_ZmvBEs/v-deo.html Here are two Documentaries that are well worth the watch. And it will give other video suggestions too. And what she chose to do with her money at such a young age. is heart meltingly sweet. I would suggest you react to this first video. She actually speaks it in English, not bad considering it’s not her first language. She is cheeky and she explains very well indeed about her pure joy in music. And her wrap up way of explaining that, actually had the interviewers all crack and laugh of camera, not at her mind you, but in surprise at her open and honest answer. It’s a very charming short little video indeed, and it explains a lot, despite its short length. The next two aren’t so much for you to react to per say (as they are about a 1/2 hr each), but they will give you other valuable incites into this ever remarkable young girl/lady. ua-cam.com/video/UJ3u5w9NYjQ/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/hHvDyd8Txd8/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/vN-DOKdIaxU/v-deo.html Andre Rieu concert This is the same song that she sung on her first audition, but it’s the full version so much better, and reportedly, Andre matches the orchestra with her natural pace. It certainly seams that way, as I’m inclined to believe it. It’s quite frankly her best rendition of this song to date, in my opinion that is. ua-cam.com/video/s9PQ7qPkluM/v-deo.html Royal Albert Hall. Oh Holly Night. There simply aren’t any professional videos of this, but her voice is still “Ringingly” clear though. ua-cam.com/video/nensr4i-XpU/v-deo.html Amazing Grace. His backing band is there too. It’s working with the symphony orchestra. All the guys with “mullet” hair are his band. I am 65 and have been to many of his concerts. He hasn’t changed. Still fantastic.🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺 And 100% of Australians know the words to this song.
John Farnham's family have advised that he is now clear if cancer. He is not in the public arena but his family say he is singing at home and happy. Such lovely news. He is so loved.
Hi Matt, here's some news you'd appreciate: a few weeks ago John's family made an announcement that John has worked so hard at becoming well again that he is now "cancer free". Isn't that wonderful? Whether or not he'll sing publicly any time soon after having part of his jaw removed, is something we'll all have to wait for, but he is such a tough fiesty bugger, he probably will, if he still can. Millions of Aussies pray for him & have their fingers, toes, eyes & nipples crossed for him & his beautiful family. xx Linda.
Mate, I was pissing myself watching your wonderful reaction to 'Farnsy' thinking to myself, "wait till we get to the pipes". You paused it just before and I literally yelled "NOOOOOOO", knowing the bagpipes would take you to another level seeing as you clearly loved the song and are a Scot. Best reaction to this so far. Thanks from Australia, brother.I love your other stuff like Bathurst etc...too. Keep it up.
Not only is John the greatest male vocalist ever , he is such a lovely man and a real comedian too. He’s our national treasure and is so very loved here .
@@leismiley2442 now we have our other National Treasure Barnsey in hospital following open heart surgery following complications from Bacterial Pneumonia. Hope he is doing well. I think The Voice is referencing The Vietnam War
Yeah I cannot wait to work my way through it all. From the comments it looks like AC/DC or Jimmy Barnes are next as so many people have been suggesting them but I am happy to be at the start of this journey, no matter where it takes me.
@@MertAus if you're going to dig into Jimmy Barnes, I'd suggest bridging into it with the live performance of "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby" he performs with John.
@@MertAus may I put forward another aussie musician not as widely known as John or ACDC but he is exceptional...his name is Matt Corby. Well worth a look. 😁✌️
As an Australian nothing brings me more pleasure than watching people discover John Farnham, but I gotta say that this reaction video is my favourite of him that I’ve seen on UA-cam. Especially knowing the bagpipes were coming to get you even more emotional! I’ve come back to rewatch this video so many times. One of my favourite things in the world is going to events like weddings when everyone in the room belts this song out. No matter the age. I’ve
The bagpiper was John's wish ... he said he could hear it in his head when he first heard the song. He is wearing Australian tartan. Love that you love John ... he is indeed a legendary human being! Get well Farnsey! 💕
I don't comment often but your reaction filled me with pure joy. To see others appreciate the magnificence of this beautiful man fills my heart and makes me so proud and I am so very grateful to have grown up with John and seen him live many times. I adore him. Thank you for wonderful reaction
Thanks so much Pam for your comment, I really appreciate it!! You are so lucky to have grown up with music like this. This is real, meaningful and timeless music that really has something to say, performed by a true master. I am at least happy to have found him. Better late than never.
Wow that is an amazing stat. So not only is he supremely talented, he has longevity (something that so many artists struggle to achieve). That is true greatness
@@MertAus John Farnham's first #1 single in Australia was released in 1967, and his most recent #1 album (a duet with Olivia Newton-John) was released in 2016.
@@MertAus back in the 60s as well it was expensive to have artists travel to other countries, especially to places like australia, to perform so it was common for local artists like John Farnham to perform covers on tv shows and events. You'll find on youtube performances of John singing Raindrops Keep Failling on My Head, One(Is the Loneliest Number) and Bridge Over Troubled Water. in the 60s and 70s. His microphone control is second to none, moving the mic away when he belts but making sure it never distorts. And he's famous for his mic tricks. Always check out live performances with him when you can just to see the mastery at work. This same concert he also does an AC/DC classic It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ’n’ Roll) which like the Help Beatles cover was an encore at the end of a 3 hour concert.
I told you this song has bagpipes. This song saved John’s career. It was the first song released on the Whispering Jack album. No one in Australia or America would sign John or give him a second chance. John’s first manager made him wear suits, be called Johnny and sing songs only old ladies and very young teens liked. They still went to number one, he was 18 and it wasn’t cool to like him. John’s best friend, Glenn used to play bass guitar in another band and he became John’s manager. He tried everywhere and then he mortgaged his home and everything he owned and had that album made. It was a very expensive album and it changed music here. When it was made no radio station would play it so Glenn changed radio everywhere. The more of us heard it the more we demanded it be played. This was the song Michael Jackson couldn’t move from number one on the charts. Glenn asked John for the best he had and John gave him this song on tape and told him it was the best he had. John and Glenn were in the car when it went to number one. Glenn was driving and he kept saying can you believe we are number one but John was silent so he looked at him. John was crying because Glenn wouldn’t lose everything and he could support his family. You have to understand that in Australia John, his wife Jilly and boys. Glenn, his wife Gaynor and their children are all like our family and loved. We are still grieving from losing Glenn in March from complications from Covid, they are all our family. John has only released a brief statement since then and then they found cancer in his mouth. He didn’t know he wouldn’t only be fighting this for his family and he is surprised at how many of us are fighting for him. That we still cared and how much he is loved. He is fighting a battle but not alone. I just want him well and home with his family again. He has given us all he has for more than 50 years. I love how much you love his music. Thank you.
Always in the thoughts and hearts. It might be difficult but C is not the death Nell it once was. With positive attitude as MrFarnham has, he can beat anything. Be well Mr Farnham. We can wait for the best news in our Australian Family and that is that John Farnham is Cancer Free. Always thinking positive thoughts for JF wellbeing. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼🇦🇺💚🌺💚🗣🫂
I have watched your reaction a number of times and every time I have a big smile on my face. Love it! I went to all but one concert tour that John did. My mum was a huge fan and we always went together. I made sure that there was a John Farnham song played at her funeral, she loved him that much.
My friend played in the MSO in this concert. She said it was absolutely brilliant, even though the music was so far from what the orchestra usually played. And that the atmosphere left absolutely everyone on a huge high for weeks. And that John was a dream to work with.
Ok,I'm 10 seconds in & now realise I'm waiting for your reaction to the bagpipes! Lol John is King 👑❤️ For more bagpipes checkout ACDC it's a Long way to the top. Ok, now back to the reaction 😄
My God. This was one of the most energetic reactions to John I've ever seen. I feel pumped just watching your excitement. John will do that to you every time. This is just huge anthem in Aus even today. Relevant in the 80's and still totally relevant today. So many of his songs have messages of unity. John was inspired by ACDC to use bagpipes in this song. Next you need to check out Playing to Win and Chain Reaction from the Chain Reaction Concert ..lots more mike tosses and action I those ones lol Loving your reactions❤️
Thanks very much Carolyn!! Yes for sure this is so relevant for the world today. That is the sign of true, timeless great music!! So much music today is just disposable but this is the sort of anthem (as you put it) that can inspire people throughout any generation. Love it so much. Will defo check out those you mentioned.
Interesting side note: John is a super nice guy. You won't find anyone who has a bad word to say about him. He's had the same back up singers for decades and values their amazing talent. He's loyal to the core. John's lifelong manager mortgaged everything he owned on a comeback tour after the allure of the once famous "Johnny Farnham" started to fizzle out. His comeback album and following tour"Jack's Back" resurrected his career and it's never faded. He's a pure joy to listen to. I love "Burn For You" - it's a hauntingly beautiful love song that shows his range and control through a very emotional song.
He is the Voice and makes all Australians very very proud. He really deserved World wide recognition of being one of the greatest male singers of all time. He blows others away with his live performances and humility. Go John 👌🫶
Hey Matt…..you need to check out John doing a better live version of a AC/DC classic and do it even better : ua-cam.com/video/bfmRQUTRaHc/v-deo.html&feature=share

I was at that concert. It was fabulous.I was waiting for your reaction to the bagpipes. To me John Farnham is the GOAT,and so generous to his fans.A beautiful human
I have seen John perform live on many occasions. He is talent personified! ..and just an all round bloody nice guy. No ego, very humble, and has a very wicked sense of humour. We here in Australia patiently wait for news of his continued recovery from having epic (11hr) surgery to remove a cancerous tumour in his mouth. He is recovering well, but has a long road to negotiate. We just love him to bits!..❤❤❤
Watch Robbie Williams sing, 'Your The Voice', with a 100,000 plus chorus, at the AFL Finals pre-show, for John who is recuperating in hospital from his mammoth operation ( and who is tearing-up while watching the concert.) Keep healing John and love from all of us.
@@MertAus Coldplay did a duet with John years ago...great performance. Crowd goes nuts when they start the song, everyone knows the song from the first few notes...then John comes out!
At almost 50 this song still brings me goosebumps. My aunty met him when they were teenagers down at the local milkbar cafe. She thought he was fantastic. I've never heard anyone say a bad word about him
When I saw that you were about to respond to "You're the Voice" my first thought was "OMG wait until he hears the bagpipe" and you didn't disappoint. John's done that song many times and on various occasions he's had 2-15 pipers, depending on the type of function. Glad that you're enjoying our magnificent and very kind "Voice".
I’m 45 and remember singing John’s songs since I was 8. I went to my first concert to see him at 10. Reminds me of the 80’s and 90’s my childhood memories. To this day I still play his music over and over. Best male vocalist of all time in my opinion ❤
This is an epic song. And a song to adopt in the world right now as the words say it all. "We are not going to live in silence, we are not going to live in fear"... With all the hidden agenda's going on in the world right now. This song is sung by an epic performer John Farnham. He has such a powerful voice, charisma, character & heart. He is simply brilliant. I am so glad that the world can now share all that he is, through social media. He and his fabulous band deserve all this recongition now. It is well deserved. Bravo!! Thanks Mat for bringing this to light via social media.. 💜👏👏👏👏👏 A brilliant reaction..
Thanks very much for your kind comment Karen and I could not agree more. That is so true that it could be adopted as some sort of motivational anthem for the world right now. I feel like it could really inspire people. It has inspired me at least anyway!!
You being a Scott reviewing, I couldn’t wait till you saw the Bagpipes, knew you’d love it. Most Aussies if not all commenting, have been to his live concerts, they are brilliant. And he’s honestly the nicest, kindest, funniest man. He admits in interviews he forgets lyrics lol, talks to the audience and tells us jokingly to ‘nick off or shut up’ his concerts were all great fun apart from his voice. Others will tell you more as we honestly love John as a person. We had 50 years of John performing here, others probably explained he’s had 11 hour cancer surgery recently but he’s slowly improving. Born in England, emigrated here aged 10. Thanks Britain for our John💞
The bagpipes were fantastic. I have never heard bagpipes played in this sort of concert before but it just fit perfectly and really added to the performance. Of course felt extra special to me, being Scottish. He really sounds like a great and very humble man. It makes me like him even more.
@@MertAus Yes the Bagpipes were fantastic and not common in a rock concert with a symphony orchestra. I was born a Stuart, and have/ had red hair - a few here in here commenting have Scottish ancestors, I’m only a 3rd generation British Aussie, not that far back really.
@@narellesmith7932 ah, another red head lol. I’m late 60s, sheesh, 70 is getting too close lol and still not completely grey. Many of us Rangers go grey later. People still ask me what colour I’ve put in my hair, I proudly say, “nothing at all, it’s natural” 😂 - Rangers win lol
So amazing for me having grown up with John to see a Scottish guy react so amazingly to his music and the bagpipes too! I just figured lots of songs up there would have the bagpipes - that's so interesting that no one has done it before!! I'm sure back in the day the song would have done well there if he'd toured! Just amazing - such a shame in some ways that John never toured his internationally - but so great too to see folks who are starting to discover him now!!
Quite possibly the best Pop/Rock performer to have come out of this country. We are so proud of him and we are all behind him as he fights to regain his health.Keep up the good fight John you are an inspiration to us.Mat you may also want to react to the Little River Band another great Australian band. Thanks for the reactions.
Thanks so much. I feel anybody who watched this performance would feel the same. John's energy and orchestras music just radiate through to the viewer. I can only imagine what it would have felt like being there in person. Ok will defo check out his duet with Jimmy Barnes. A couple of people have mentioned that actually.
Bloody Hell, that was quite the reaction, that was so much fun. I started to worry as it got closer to the bagpipes, I was like shit, is he gonna be OK? Lol. Seriously though, it was wonderful to see someone love it as much as we do. Great channel Mat. ❤
haha honestly after it I felt like I had just played a game of football. But it was so worth it to experience seeing and hearing such a great performance. Thanks Tania
Hahaha, yes when he paused it right before the bagpipes started I was thinking he has no idea what's next...OMG he's going to have a heart attack. I always get tears in my eyes when I see the bagpiper
@@krpurple2678 nearly 40 years later, people still go wild when the bagpipes start, we know its coming but still. I have yet to see ANYONE who doesnt go wild for it!!!
Cannot recommend enough you seeing AC/DC doing "long way to the top" live from either 75 or 76 on the back of a truck. You will understand when you see it. Love your honesty and enthusiasm
So thrilled by how much you are enjoying watching him!! Australians genuinely feel so much love for this man.. this song transcends era and is such a powerful “call to (pacifist) arms”! We all know the words and can sing them at the top of our lungs!! 😂❤🐨🇦🇺👍🏻
I've watched a lot of reactions to this and I think yours has been my favourite! I couldn't wait until the bagpipes because I knew how excited you'd be! As I'm sure many have said, this man is just a super beautiful human being. We've been so lucky to have his music as the background to our lives. It gives so many of us pleasure to see people outside Australia finally get to see him. His love for his fans and our love for him is such a wonderful treasure. Thank you for such a genuinely exciting response! ❤
John gets you feeling every emotion of a song. He has the gift of drawing you in to his, and the song's energy. I've never seen another performance of Gethsemane as gut wrenching as his from 1992. And from this same concert, 'It's a Long Way to the Top' is next level energy and fun. You'll love it.
That is so true. I felt so many emotions during this performance and what I liked is they were all happy and positive feelings. There is not many songs, especially these days that can do that. Will defo check out your suggested song. Thanks!!
I could hardly wait for your reaction to the bag pipes. John grew up during the Vietnam War era and with Australian 18 year olds being conscripted, it really resonated with many people. So glad you get the feels of his singing which I always experience on a cellular level … the vibration. Jimmy Barnes I feel in my gut but John always hits notes that give me cold shivers. Now track down a LIVE performance by John of “When the War is Over”. It is a Cold Chisel song and Jimmy Barnes who sang with Cold Chisel comes on stage a minute or so into the song and joins John. The off camera notes that John hits while Jimmy is singing are phenomenal. You should check out more artists from OZ as the local talent is World Class.
The bagpipes were just an amazing addition to this performance. Not only did it add so much musically, it really made the performance feel so special and personal to me (as a Scottish person who has not lived in the country for 10 years - it made me feel so proud). Will defo check out the performance you mentioned. Thanks Judi!
@@MertAus I have always loved the pipes as part of my family heritage is Scottish and Irish. There are other instances where the pianist fills in for the piper with a key board instrument that he wears like a guitar and it has a similar sound to a bagpipe. Sorry, I can’t tell you the name of the instrument.
This is our unofficial national anthem, when this comes on in any pub, supermarket or anywhere really, we pretty much stand to attention and sing it loud and proud 😂 Apart from being a top tier vocalist who can pretty much sing any genre (check out Grenada from the main event with Anthony Warlow or his duet withOlivia Newton-John from the same concert), he’s just a super nice guy, loved and adored by Aussies far and wide. You’re gonna love When Something is Wrong With my Baby and Playing to Win.. he also does a cover of Zeppelin’s Black Dog as a warm-up in a soundcheck which will just leave you speechless!😳🙌🏻
haha that is amazing to hear. It really is a song worth being that proud of. I am even proud just because there was bagpipes and at least I can feel that personal connection to the song but for people from Australia to have this originate in your country must be so special.
We love this man so much here in Australia. I have seen him live many times over the years even in small pub settings and he has always been remarkable.
I never fail to get a tear in the eye when the piper and John salute each other. Everything is epic about this, the song, the entire performance and of course the legend himself, John. I would also HIGHLY recommend from this same concert his cover of ACDC Long Way To The Top and one of his own songs, Playing To Win. The energy on stage is through the roof, you'll not see anything quite like it!!! Great reaction mate and G'day from OZ.
The best singer I have ever heard and one of the greatest live performers I have ever had the pleasure to see in person. He was and will always be the voice.
Loved your reaction!! It made me get all excited with you. I’ve heard this song hundreds of times and seen John live on a few occasions. It certainly is an experience of a lifetime. He never disappoints!! This song is such an anthem for Australia 🇦🇺
Wow I cannot imagine seeing him live. It must be almost like a spiritual experience. I felt the energy just watching it on a computer so being there with 1000's of like minded people must be something else.
I love watching Scots react to this performance. Your face when you saw that piper is the best reaction of any group that see it. dont be worried about not knowing him. i think he did one internation tour and hated being away from home so he never made any effort to make it overseas
I saw John Farham in concert several times and every single second was a joy and a privelage. Seeing others experience his voice and showmanship fills my heart! I am so happy you've discovered him. Now go and tell everyone you meet!
John can sing many genres of music from a rock song to a soft ballad. Great reaction. I look forward to seeing you discover more of John’s songs and his personality. Try Angels that he sings with one of his back up singers. You will see his humerous side as well as his beautiful voice.
I’m not a fan (as such) of John Farnham but I will admit that I do love this song and it does ‘move’ me very time I hear him sing it. But what I do admire about John Farnham, above all else is, throughout all of his many successes, he has remained humble and down to earth.
After a whole concert of powerful songs, he finished up with "Help", and still managed a stellar performance. You are right, He is the consumate showman, but with buckets of talent. And he's a genuinely nice and humble person.
After many years of being unable to break into the Australian music market, (I was a teenager in the 70's) even being lead singer of Little River Band, "You're The Voice" was finally John's breakthrough. Listen to that voice, he could always sing, but didn't fit into the mould of the 70's and early 80's.
John Farnham, God bless him. One of the most loved and adored singers in this country. Presently recovering from serious health issues... may never sing again😢 we are all praying for you John ❤❤❤
I’ve been to many Farnham concerts and it’s not just his impressive voice and performance but he always seemed to thoroughly enjoy himself and engaged with the audience. Also off stage he was just a really nice bloke and highly regarded by the Australian public. Wondered what your reaction to the bagpipes would be, loved it.
John 'The Voice' Farnham is one of, if not THE biggest rock star to come out of Australia, but not only that he's also said to be one of the nicest people in the music biz. EVERYONE loves working with him. This is the best reaction to this song I've ever seen, and when the bagpipes came on I nearly teared up on your behalf. :)
There's not much better in music than seeing people discover John Farnham and see what Australians have seen and known for decades. This is why we call him 'The Voice'! He is very humble (always without fail acknowledges his band members and steps back at times to let them shine), down to earth, funny and he engages with his audience like no other. I've seen a lot of 'big name' Australian and international artists over the years and no one I have seen comes close to the way he personally engages with the audience; and how he can make a 20,000+ capacity stadium shrink and feel like he has invited you and a few mates around to his place to watch him and his friends (they're more than just his band) have a jam session in his garage. He is the consummate performer and about as good as it gets.
Darlin', when you see the bagpipes, I feel like you're going to break into tears. Powerful voice and wonderful, treasured Australian artist. We love him, and what an impact he would have made on the world stage. Such an entertainer.
Wow so many people in the comments went to that performance. I feel so jealous. It must be such a memorable and amazing experience. It looked like the energy was electric in the crowd.
I have worshiped John Farnham for over 35 years! I have been blessed to see him many times live (and bawled when you acknowledge how wonderful that must have been.... words can't describe it) and it takes a good week to come back down to Earth after seeing him!!! I can tell you Mat, I was more excited than you as I waited in anticipation for you to experience that bagpipe solo! Thank you for your authentic genuine enthusiasm for this incredible man that our country has loved for decades!! Welcome to the world of John Peter Farnham!!!!
I loved your reaction to John Farnham, just awesome. Thank you. This is probably one of his best knows songs, and performances. As an Aussie, I appreciate that you not only notice every aspect of John's amazing performance, but you genuinely recognize just how brilliant he is. I'm 63, I've been listening to John Farnham on the radio since I was little kid, back in the 60s. 6 decades. No one comes close to John vocally, no one sounds better live, and there isn't a better performer. His charisma and his stage presence is unmatched. We love the man, honestly.
Awesome it is really great to hear of your long history of listening to him. It is really is special to hear of his fans and the respect they have for him. I am happy to finally become part of his fan base and hear more from him.
Thanks!! Yes it is so interesting to me that those lyrics are still relevant today. This is a great anthem that more people should hear and I feel it would bring a lot of happiness to the world.
I was lucky enough to see Farnsy on his whispering jack tour back in the 80s. I was only a child but I remember it vividly Also, the blonde girl with the perm singing back up is my step dads cousin: Lisa Edwards Also also: this song is still played during last drinks at many venues because of the way it brings people together and makes everyone feel warm and lovey instead of all fighty bighty
I have to say that I always thought John Farnham is the best singer in the world!! He has such commitment and passion together with the most amazing voice…he ALWAYS gives me goosebumps ♥️♥️♥️
As a proud Scottish-Australian the bagpipe solo hits me everytime. You just earned another subscriber. "Go dtuga Dia deoch duit as an tobar nach dtránn"
Johnny Farnham is a legend here. Search him singing Sadie. And Jimmy Barnes loves the bagpipes as well, he plays them. He is a Scottish born Australian. Enjoy the ride. 60's to early 90's is the best.
Love, Love, Loved your reaction to our gorgeous man!! And YES a very powerful song indeed, it's the truth & passion of it, that makes this one special to us Aussies... John Farnham one of a kind!!
Loved your reaction to our John, Aussies have had the pleasure of Johns performances for many years, I’ve been enjoying Johns music for from day one, This concert was brilliant I can’t wait for your reaction on It’s a long way to the top. Johns performance was unbelievable along with the band, That was also on this concert, It’s so great to see people reaction toJohn,There’s also many other great Aussie singers you should look into.
That is so great to hear Rodney. It makes me so happy to hear peoples stories of how they grew up with this music and have heard it for song long. I am going to be doing more Australian singers reactions soon and will defo check out your suggestion also.
John Farnham (silent h) is Australia’s favourite larrikin! We all love him and he loves us! Now he needs our prayers for a speedy recovery after mouth cancer surgery where part of his jaw was removed. He’s a fighter so he won’t give up! ❤️❤️❤️🇦🇺😍. He’s retired now but has never shied away from sharing the stage with other artists! Many years ago, I was at one of his concerts and afterwards, the audience headed to their cars in the multi-level carpark behind the venue. But instead of leaving, we all stayed, looking over the walls on each level, waiting for John to come out. When he finally did, cheers and roars went up! He made signals with his hands for us to be quiet, and when you could hear a pin drop, he shouted , “THANK YOU!” And we all cheered again! 😃😍❤️
Has been covered by John but do the original first
And a good live stream would be where the viewers request Aussie pub rock songs live
Yes, John is truly our living legend. Thank you.

You could start with that too, as she is much older, and then start from the beginning.

Holland’s Got Talent Ep1
Just remember, it’s about who has talent, not who is perfect.

At this stage, she has had a few lessons, and it truly shows.
The improvement is so great, that this is still my favourite rendition of this song from her, to date.

This has two parts. The performance and the results. I’m having difficulty finding and English translation version for the 2nd part. But you get the gist anyway. The second part also includes a spontaneous encore performance as well.

Andre Rieu concert
This is the same song that she sung on her first audition, but it’s the full version so much better, and reportedly, Andre matches the orchestra with her natural pace. It certainly seams that way, as I’m inclined to believe it.
It’s quite frankly her best rendition of this song to date, in my opinion that is.

So good to hear ❤
The message is unification, not polarisation. John Farnham said he put everything he could into Whispering Jack, the album this is song is from.
I was there and he’s absolutely awesome, our greatest treasure! Thanks for sharing and appreciation 😊
Keep it up.
This!! 100% me too 😂
This song was originally written for Nuclear Disarmament.
We all know Farnsey is Phenomenal and a thoroughly good bloke.
Not only is John the greatest male vocalist ever , he is such a lovely man and a real comedian too. He’s our national treasure and is so very loved here .
its sad he has cancer of the throat and has been in hospital for 6 months hope he pulls through
He's been cleared of cancer so great news

Yeah I cannot wait to work my way through it all. From the comments it looks like AC/DC or Jimmy Barnes are next as so many people have been suggesting them but I am happy to be at the start of this journey, no matter where it takes me.
The talent of Australia’s performers will blow you away! I’m a big fan of John. Have been since I was a teenager. (I’m a grandmother now.)
@@MertAus if you're going to dig into Jimmy Barnes, I'd suggest bridging into it with the live performance of "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby" he performs with John.

Me too. Watching new people get excited when they first start on their Farnsey journey makes me fall in love with him all over again.
Thanks so much Pam for your comment, I really appreciate it!! You are so lucky to have grown up with music like this. This is real, meaningful and timeless music that really has something to say, performed by a true master. I am at least happy to have found him. Better late than never.

@@MertAus He not only did brilliant music, but funny as hell, and a great guy. Let's hope his cancer treatment goes well.

Thanks Rick. It is impossible not to be passionate when you see performances like this!!
The only Australian singer to have top 10 hits in 5 consecutive DECADES. He has a 3.2 octave range and he can sing any style and make it outstanding.
6 decades...don't forget the two albums he released with ONJ in 2015 and 2016 which both went to number one. I don't know why no one ever counts them.
The only performer also to retire 20 times
Thank you.
So beautifully said. If only our love and wishes could help heal him.

Wow, what an amazing experience.

My God. This was one of the most energetic reactions to John I've ever seen. I feel pumped just watching your excitement. John will do that to you every time. haha Dr KAP. If I even had 1% of the talent of Tim Minchin I would be happy. But happy to share the hair colour at least lol

I was waiting to see what Marks reaction was going to be. I think everyone that has ‘reacted’ to this some here is blown away with having a piper.
It was 20 year olds being conscripted, including my brother, who was in Vietnam the same time as Normie Rowe,
@@judileeming1589 It’s called a keytar 😊
Got this dude loaded up on Spotify so I can chill on my bike ride
This is our unofficial national anthem, when this comes on in any pub, supermarket or anywhere really, we pretty much stand to attention and sing it loud and proud 😂
Apart from being a top tier vocalist who can pretty much sing any genre (check out Grenada from the main event with Anthony Warlow or his duet withOlivia Newton-John from the same concert), he’s just a super nice guy, loved and adored by Aussies far and wide.
@@MertAus loving your reactions, keep them coming! We are blessed to have some truly amazing artists down here 🤩🇦🇺
We love this man so much here in Australia. I have seen him live many times over the years even in small pub settings and he has always been remarkable.
Seeing him in small pub and being that close to him must be so great. Thanks Kerry
Our Australian LEGEND, we love John ❤️ and that is our unofficial national anthem 🇦🇺 He's definitely won the hearts of everyone.
The best singer I have ever heard and one of the greatest live performers I have ever had the pleasure to see in person. He was and will always be the voice.
Wow you went to his concert ,lucky you !
@@annstar4306 Ive seen him live 4 times…he is the best
Thanks for the great reaction to a great and wonderful singer and human being as John Farnham is.
Great reaction to a great performer . This was huge 30 yrs ago and still huge today
That sounds great Michele will check out Angels and for sure can't wait to see the rest of his catalogue of songs.
You are fucking ADORABLE! I LOVE how much you are loving this! Welcome to the world of “The Voice”- you’ll be very happy here!
John Farnham, God bless him. One of the most loved and adored singers in this country. Presently recovering from serious health issues... may never sing again😢 we are all praying for you John ❤❤❤
John Farnham isn’t only a rock singer. Check out all of his live performances. You will love him more and more.
John is a true Aussie legend & national treasure. He is an outstanding performer, a hugely talented singer & a truly truly great bloke.
In the 90s a new John Farnham concert was often simulcast live on primetime on a Saturday night.
Well done, Mat. Epic performance. You are now a true-blue Aussie.
Thanks Arch. Appreciate it mate
I love how you love John Farnham
Gotta say, along with John Farnham's performance, your reaction brought a tear to my eye!
mine too lol. I got so excited as we were getting to the bagpipes.
Thanks very much Colleen. It was a wonderful performance for me to see. I really feel so happy to have seen it.
Darlin', when you see the bagpipes, I feel like you're going to break into tears. Powerful voice and wonderful, treasured Australian artist. We love him, and what an impact he would have made on the world stage. Such an entertainer.
“THE VOICE”, yes. To me he is The G.O.A.T (greatest of all time!) great reaction! 💗💗💗💗, I was in that audience and it was an amazing experience.
Wow so many people in the comments went to that performance. I feel so jealous. It must be such a memorable and amazing experience. It looked like the energy was electric in the crowd.
His concerts Always Fantastic 🎉
John Farnham is everything I want in a performer!
What a joy you are, Mat. A passionate man. So glad you love John.
Loved your reaction to this! You really capture the brilliance that is John Farnham. Thanks so much.
Great reaction! John Farnham is indeed a legend! Love this song. The lyrics still apply today!
Thanks!! Yes it is so interesting to me that those lyrics are still relevant today. This is a great anthem that more people should hear and I feel it would bring a lot of happiness to the world.
As an Aussie,, I love him. He's been around since the fifties. He's one of our national legends❤❤
I was lucky enough to see Farnsy on his whispering jack tour back in the 80s. I was only a child but I remember it vividly
Also, the blonde girl with the perm singing back up is my step dads cousin: Lisa Edwards
Also also: this song is still played during last drinks at many venues because of the way it brings people together and makes everyone feel warm and lovey instead of all fighty bighty
"Go dtuga Dia deoch duit as an tobar nach dtránn"
best night ever i was only 13 years old at the time im now 42 an still play this song today
Best. Reaction. Ever!!
Loved the emotion written all over your face especially when the bagpipes came in.
I love your reaction. This is by far the best reaction video to this I've ever seen. And your shock at the piper. Gold!
Bro should never apologise for feeling the music. Awesome video, & you can tell the appreciation 👌 respect to Farnham our national treasure 🇦🇺
Saw John perform this a few years back,at the age of 70+ he still has that powerful voice, and stirred the audience just as much.
Me too!!!
I saw him at a music festival with John Stevens, Southern Sons, Vanessa Amorosi, James Reyne, and him.
It was awesome!!!
Farnsey included the bagpipes just for you mate! Welcome down your rabbithole of Australia 😄
You have to be the most enthusiastic reactor I've ever seen!
Love it. Keep it up, Mat!!
