Awesome repair Alex. Hope the leg is healing well! For the guys out there watching and wanting to try this repair yourself that is a good thing, but stop just a minute. This takes a lot of skill and you need to practice first. Don't just try this on your $1000 board with all your data on it. Alex sells practice boards and you can find some about anywhere. You can most likely take an old DVD player or something out of the closet or junk drawer and practice removing that connector first. If it does not go well then try another and another and another. If it still doesn't go well send your expensive board to the master before trying it!
Been watching a few of your episodes and learned more than many other board level repair techs in a very short period of time. Network engineering doesn't get anywhere close to this level of detail, so you make my job seem like a cake walk in comparison. Hats off to you sir.
Welcome back Alex,!! Hope you are now well recovered from the unfortunate injury. Happy to see you are fixing back the "problems" in queue waiting for you to be back.. :)
Hello, you are an artist and you are good at what you do. Otherwise you are an optimist. From what I've heard and seen in other videos, a brand name repair service would probably simply send this nightmare circuit board back - with the disclaimer - no longer repairable. Instead, you use your skills like a motivated rescue worker in an accident on the highway and do your work with care and motivation to achieve the best possible result. Apart from the price, every customer can be happy with such a high-quality repair these days. Thank you for letting us watch and sharing your techniques and experiences with us. So when you receive a PCB that is in such bad condition, do you never call the customer? Presumably you document your work in the repair video and send the customer the invoice with the repaired board? Very nice to see that you are satisfied with your work. Thanks
17:36 "mother calls , do not anwser, wife calls , do not anwser ... Robber comes in ...let them take whatever they want..... just keep holding" -- That worth a subscription
Welcome back hope that you have healed 100% so you can kick us all to learn from your wonderful lessons. Thanks for showing the size of the penny and SMC.
You are so accurate with the knife, like a robot, then your nephews came in and it reminded me you are a human 😂😂 I remember as a kid going to my uncles and messing around with audio stuff and wiring with my uncle, good memories man 😂😂😂 Its remembered by us youngers 😊
Great instructions, just completed my first HDMI socket replacement, all now working well. It is worth tinning the solder lugs before fitting to the board as it makes soldering of them much easier. Thank you.
Great job Alex! Hope the leg is better! Super surprised you don’t mail these back to the customers as no fix. It’s impossible to tell everything he/she screwed up.
Hope your leg is better . Nice to have you back . We miss that victory smile when you beat the circuit board into submissions. A quote from Uncle joey diaz
Alex, unfortunately with you making it look so easy it means people are going to attempt to do these things themselves. On the bright side, it means more work for you ;)
Alex, great channel, love the videos. 👍 I've started working with SMD and quickly realized that you really weren't kidding about those components flying into the 9th dimension! I had a good laugh the 1st time it happened when I heard your voice in my head telling me exactly where that component has gone. 😆
This is what happen when peoples think they can repair anything by watching UA-cam video but they don't have the skills and the right tools !! Good Work
God Bless You and your family Alex 😊 I always enjoy watching your videos Alex, you are not afraid of showing what a real expert professional repair man does on the daily😊 Again God Bless You brother😁
aww seeing that board, i can imagine being the person who ripped off pads during multiple attempts and tore a full trace off the board like a loose thread :< so nice of you to notice and choose to replace the unreported missing components so it's at least got a chance of working when they put it back together
Glad to see your doing better Alex! Excellent video, I think I'll stick with ps2 related work for the while. This is insanely small. Keep up the excellent work!
Good to see you back, im always happy to see people try to repair their electronics. Hopefully he learned from his mistakes and guided by this video, fingers crossed next time make attemts a repair it is successful
Always the best one Alex! A lot of patience, a lot of hard work but hard work and professionality always pays! Keep doing like this, by the point of view of an hobbyist you're such inspirational
I'm glad you're back and doing okay, sir. I'm surprised you even bothered working on this board. Is this the kinder gentler Alex I'm seeing? Great job as always. Better than factory.
Alex, as good as you are with electronic fixes, I can tell you are a wonderful human being and family man! Heal up quickly, we need you in tip top shape.
Perfect job as usual customers make a mess just for mr northridgefix to correct all the damage what an awesome guy Alex realy is helping peoples mistakes ❤
Welcome back Alex. I hope you feel better. That's the most important. I think my pots on my variable power supply are going South. It is increasingly frustrating to dial in the voltage. Has anyone encounter this?
Not sure why you would even take on the liability of fixing a board that you have no way of testing either prior to the repair, or after. Seems like this gives the customer a real opportunity to try to scam you. Not that you would fall for it but just a hassle you would have to deal with.
great to see u again Alex. u are clever man and understand bad things hapens. but you are stronger, clever and better so no reason to focus on bad things. and beside ur channel wich u repairs electronics i see also u giving wisdoms and trying to make better world. tnx u
@traaaaan True, nobody begins soldering as an expert. Better to practice on junk though, not something that could cost $$$+ to replace if you mess it up.
funny thing is they think that sending the hdmi connectors is going to save them money, after creating 3x more work to be done on the board. it's ok to try and fail, but sending a $5 component is not going to matter.
That's how we learn, by trying things ourselves. I'm sure Alex has scraped many connectors before being good as he is now. Like we said, practice makes perfect.
It looks super easy to do when you're watching it on UA-cam ahahha. But, even if you have ALL of the proper tools, ie microscope, hot air station, good soldering iron and all the peripherals, if you lack the skills/experience you're probably going to fail lol. I failed my first 3 hdmi port replacements back when I first started, and I had all of the best tools for the job. You just make it look so easy Alex so all these guys Hiroshima their boards trying to replicate your work ehehhe he. Keep up the great work and videos Alex :)
Anyone ever seen the old signs they'd have at automotive repair stations? Labor Rates $50/ hr $75/hr if you watch $100/hr if you ask questions $150/hr if you try to help $1000/hr if you previously worked on it yourself
Someone recently brought me a series X and said that usually he'd try to fix something like this himself But just taking it apart is a whole art alone so he didn't bother and brought it in.
I am trying to fix my own Series X device. I have diagnosed a short due to a chip called ATMP 155. Any idea what is it and is it easy to find replacement?
YAY!! Welcome back, Alex!! You've been missed!! Hope you're doing well!! We need more "better than factory!" work!!
Thank you all. The wound is getting better. More better than factory videos on the way.
@@NorthridgeFix I hope your leg gets better than factory as well

I just ripped the entanglement connector off my expensive quantum computer but I think I can fix it 😎
@@digi3218 Do it! Do it! I need those 10,000 USD I am going to charge for the repair after you mess it up. Just do it! LOL
Everyone's so brave with a soldering iron until traces get ripped and components fly to the 9th dimension 😅
😂😂😂😂😂😂👍
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂very true
that because he makes it look so easys , when in really this take years of practice and leaning

Ahem ahem, I I'm looking for replacement pads aw we speak. Not joking. 😅

I love watching you fix the tech. I wish we had one of you in England lol.
Love it when people trash an otherwise easy repair. Just becaused you watched 2 videos on soldering doesn't mean you can do it!
Props for trying though. That's better than most. People are so quick to throw away ans replace.
@traaaaan True, nobody begins soldering as an expert. Better to practice on junk though, not something that could cost $$$+ to replace if you mess it up.

I use the Weller Chisel tip and NF.mini knife tip for most repairs
