AoC game crashes every time I am logging in to a realm even if I have a 10k$ expensive customized PC. It is impossible to play this game and the support team was totally useless in solving my problems while I can play any released game on Steam without crashing. AoC didn't want to give me free embers for having problems with their super expensive alpha keys, which I strongly not recommend to people since I cannot really play... All I can do is access the character creation.
I didn't level much during my time in the alpha test, because I was too busy just wandering around and feeling the world. Some of the vistas are just breathtaking. The kind of game where you literally can just get lost in it.
it really is an amazing map. I found two high places in the north west and south west and you can see all the way to the opposite side of the Riverlands. My screenshot in the north west shows the tower of Carphin, Ursine cave, world tree and Citadel of Steel bloom all clearly

Thanks for the comparison Ritchie!! I agree with you that 10k does seem a bit small now , not even accounting for the under realm as well. Great video.
I wasn't expecting such a big map when I entered the Alpha. It was impressive, but also scary. I really hope they are able to fill all that with interesting vistas, level spots and nice quests. At the moment, not even the one zone is nearly finished. In my opinion, the map is a bit too large. But we will see.
That is one of the things where I think the feel of the game is going to be different on Live compared to Alpha2, particularly in the levelling experience. Right now we have over 400 players per node (theoretically). When the game goes live that will be less than 120 (again theoretically), and with that more POIs as well obviously. Competition for everything will decline and everything will be less intense and confused. At non-peak times, you are very likely going to get a grind spot to yourself, particularly in-node. And presumably the gatherers are going to be a lot happier. It is difficult to wrap your head around the more subtle changes however, maybe people are going to have to get a group in-node before setting out, instead of spamming global when you get where you want to be.
Nah if density is 120 per node game will be empty as hell. Also Steven said that if their server tech is up to it they will increase server cap. I agree that 400 per node is a little bit cluttered but 120 is definitely not the call. Also right now servers are at capacity every weekend. Post launch servers might be empty for most of the week.
If you start a live server, you won't have 120 players on each node instantly. Most players will level equally fast and starting zones will be cluttered as hell for a long while, it's totally fine.
@@TheToledoTrumpton it's guaranteed that players won't sort themselves equally into nodes since a lvl 5 node blocks all adjacent nodes from becoming lvl 5 and a lvl 4 blocks all adjacent ones from becoming lvl 4. It's called a vassal system. That makes it so a limited amount of lvl 5 and 4 nodes exist and highest uncapped node lvl is 3. And to ensure that all players don't just flock to the biggest trade hub nodes a housing system has been created and it's way more beneficial to own a house in a small node than to only be in instanced tavern housing in a lvl 5, or at least that's the intent. So a large node might have 160 players while a smaller one 80 and it's going to be an average of 120 per node if the increase in server cap it's possible due to performance. A way larger problem that is still largely unsolved is Zerg guilds owning the entire map. I think to start and inorder for them to work out issues from a networking and gameplay perspective 10k is a good number. In a sense to me you do want the world to feel somewhat unalive until players do what they do. You imo need to leave room for migrations if nodes collapse and buffer regions to allow setups for different groups. Atleast from what I've seen with people playing and people previewing the map since this something that will be ever changing I dont think using conventional MMO logic really works here. Like in EVE it has close to 20k/30k users online (regardless if its bots or not) but only certain area's have concentrated players. Analyzing nullsec though, alot of those spaces are also condensed within their respective zones but the area's inbetween can feel *empty* because not alot of players are there. You can go maybe 15-20 mintues without seeing another player and you would think thats bad, until you see that exploration is apart of the gameplay loop in EVE and that empty space is needed. In ashes its different obviously, but if that *empty playerless space* is something that has content players can take advantage of, resources the players can I think 10k is a pretty good number. Granted the whole world isn't open yet, but thats why you want to start with a smallish number to really see what players can do with all of the systems. Too big and you kind of lose the plot in regards to testing (atleast in this early stage) maybe later once specific meta's are developed they can expand and see.
