Runes are not blizzards idea, more then likely they got the idea from someone on the team knowing of Ascension Wow, runes are a fresh take on classic wows sandbox and further improves the capabilities of classes while allowing them to evolved past their specific play styles which classes have needed for a long time even in retail since everyone just plays the same build while roles suffer from lack of players wanting to play them. Nightmare Incursions were an interesting idea that was very poorly implemented, felt like they just brought the timeless isle to classic. Store mount and wow tokens aren't the devs ideas thats the part of the business that decides the best way to cash in on player base.

@@kohtas This is just wrong as before the Old guard left blizzard, wows success besides the game itself was the devs being able to take existing ideas from other games and improving upon them in some way, hence why the game was such a major hit even up to Wrath. As the devs changed out and Blizz was bought by a bigger company did this start happening little by little they opted to create their own systems in retail and found no success in doing so the game started to lose traction. SoDs Rune system is literally the base Version of Ascensions Mythic Enchants but built by Devs who think they know what Runes to add to the game (up to p2 they were great), while Ascension picks theirs from a pool of player suggested one that they tweak and balance as best they can to work in their game, but even Ascensions system has its own major issues.
I’ve played wow since 2005 and also have played private servers including feenix, nost, lights hope, kronos, and much more. I recently started on turtle wow ever since their most recent patch and I couldn’t be any more impressed. Not only have the absolutely shattered the private server standard, but I don’t think blizzard could do even half as good of a job as them if blizzard attempted classic +. The turtle wow team is truly impressive from all things I’ve seen so far.
blizzard will uunfortunately never be able to match Turtle wow's quality, the love of classic can be seen in every custom zone on that server. Blizzard doesnt give a fuck. They just want money.
Turtle wow still has that feeling when youve played the game for the first time, every update feels so cared and warm rather than an update just because. The server definetely has a soul compare to blizzard.

@@richmarrero1313 you need to add mods, just like every other version of classic. If you go to the turtle wow wiki there is a list of mod links with a guide how to manually add mods.
If we’re being honest the reason why Cataclysm has nosedived in popularity is chiefly because Cataclysm isn’t Classic. That isn’t to say that there aren’t people who’re nostalgic for that expansion as there’s plenty but The Classic era (Vanilla, TBC, and Wrath) is strictly BEFORE the cataclysm. Classic+ appeals to people precisely because it’s got the feel and flavour of the Classic era but with new content and/or twists on the formula e.g. new playable but classic era appropriate races, new classes and additional talents or spell tweaks, etc.
Cataclysm nosedived because SoD has all the priority which is just dumb... they even removed joyous journey from cataclysm to make sure that it stays bad...
Cataclassic dont even feel like vanilla cata for - its to easy to the point of meaningless to level - why even bother , gear dont matter crats dont matter , nothing matters -everyone are soloing ,dungeons are just crap

I've also been playing TurtleWoW for a few months now and it's amazing. The sad thing is that Blizz could make lots of money if they did what Twow is doing. New raids, new dungeons, new locations in the old dungeons, completely new zones, new classes for each fraction, changes and balance done to all talent trees making most of the trees now viable and interesting (we finally have a real melee hunter, and Ret pallys are competitive DPS!), and it's amazing. They even added Jewelcrafting, and it's 10x better then the original version. in addition to gear buff items, it also makes staves and trinkets. They have plans now on adding more regions, and even updating the engine to unreal 5. And the dev's are huge fans of warcraft lore, and it shows in all their changes. if you like vanilla and dream of a real classic+, you owe it to yourself to try out turtle.
The problem I have with private servers is the possibility they get taken down at any point Blizzard decides to throw dick around and all your progress (and it's classic so you know that took time) is just poof, gone.

Warmane is bigger and making more money than blizzards era servers, metagoblin plays Warmane at some point cause I’ve ganked him several times in the past.
Cataclysm wouldn't be remembered as badly as it was if it wasn't for the fact that the world was never restored at any capacity to it's original glory. (Draining Thousand Needles/Shimmering Flats), Mending the Scar between the 2 halves of the Barrens, etc.) Essentially it got rid of the original nostalgia of the Vanilla world, but then left it in a state where the rest of "Old" Azeroth zones are locked in time and feel like they are stuck in a story/narrative that was over a decade ago. That's just my take of what they should've done with the follow up of Cataclysm, but sadly not what we got... Maybe if a reboot ever happens... They take something like those aspects into account if ever attempting to "revamp" the vanilla world as they did in Cata.
I just had enough of SOD even tho its beta for classic+... I have started on turtlewow and i freaking LOVE IT! Feeling like a little kid again, highly recommend aswell!
@@Followtheham I haven't played since dragonflight s2 on retail, I enjoyed SoD in first 2 phases but p3 xDDD nah it was a joke. They runied the classic exp completly, but stupid things like the 1-hour mail delay were of course kept. Now im playing on warmane onyxia it is the CLASSIC i want to be honest, df-dual talent and BG queue anywhere. In my opinion the classic EXP comes from the content not the outdated annoying features.

Turtle WoW is what alleviated my concerns regarding seeing WoW "die" if ever officially taken offline through Blizzard failure and/or IP (WoW) support collapse. I was concerned that such an iconic period in gaming would either begin to fade (into nothing) day 1, or live on as a sad withered husk of its former self like Warhammer Age of Reckoning, etc. The Turtle team has created (and continues to) a version of Classic WoW that's not only better than the original, but better overall IMO than the modern Classic that Blizzard has and continues to attempt to create. My biggest want for Turtle at present, is updated Auction House search settings (ex: search only listings with buyout prices, etc). Probably my ideal WoW, would be a Turtle WoW foundation with some of the added * fun * elements of Season of Discovery, all overseen by the group that as I see it has the best approach to further development of Classic WoW : The Turtle WoW Dev Crew
You forgot to mention the number of leveling challenges offered, not just including the popular Hardcore mode but also War Mode, Craftmaster, and classic Slow Leveling.
Scarlet Keep is a T4 raid that requires you to get the Ashbringer from Naxx and go into SM Cath where high inquisitor fairbanks leads you through his chamber into an underground tunnel and there is the entrance to the scarlet crusade's biggest ambition yet, complete with a high castle citadel and seaport.

I love all of the praise for turtle wow. Let me just add one more compliment: It always feels fresh because there are always people leveling. No other server has lasted this long, because most will flame out after a year or two of endgame stagnation. But the combination of new content keeping the endgame fresh, people rolling alts, and truly fresh new players keeps the server feeling timeless. Plus the devs are incredible, GMs are always online and respond near instantly, the friendly world atmosphere... it's the single best wow server I've ever played on. And I started during OG vanilla.
Wow, this video is so good! It has me hyped for WoW again….and I’ve been playing since Vanilla. I can genuinely say that I don’t remember the last time I was really REALLY excited to play WoW. It made me realize I really don’t like a lot of the stuff they’ve been doing for a while now….I’ve basically turned into a collector and then log off. But Classic + looks like it has the soul of WoW again….it got me a little emotional LOL. I’m definitely going to play some. Thank you!
Just bc something is classic + doesn't mean its good. A lot of turtle is mediocre and buggy. Terrible class changes and a lot of non vanilla things like xmog and tbc mounts. It starts to turn into a clown show. The only thing they do better is ban bots.
I'm just glad that SoD made shaman tanks a thing (not sure if those other servers did or didn't) and I hope if classic + comes, they are still available for the Horde. I'd be cool if they gave us the TBC races plus jewelcrafting in a classic + so both factions can enjoy shamans and paladins. Jewelcrafting would also be nice as by end game in SoD, Thorium ores were useless in my opinion, they are easy to get either by mining or buying for cheap, so would be cool if they stayed more relevant by use for gems or something. The arcanite bars were also easy to get since you could get 2-5 procs, so they also became cheap on the AH after the 0.5 super short phase came to an end. The biggest disappoint of SoD in my opinion was very little actual new content. We had some new level up raids, but they basically used the same areas/mob types. Although the nightmare incursions sucked (besides taking advantage at the start to some easy gold), it was actually nice that they made a reason to go to those different areas in the world most people didn't visit, just wish the content was handled better. The crystal vale new world boss and DFC 5man was nice as "new content", just wish we had more, but it sounds like the SoD team was small. They definitely got the gear improvements to 5mans/raids/tier sets done right at least.
There's so many of these servers in the works right now.. Epoch WoW and CoA also look damn amazing.. The issue for me with Turtle is that its already deep in progression.. I'm lvling a character or two just to see it all.. but I don't think I'd say unless they rolled a fresh server.
Still playing on Deviate Delight having tons of fun, my guild just started AQ40 as most other guilds are in AQ too, maybe one or two in Naxx. My guild decided to take a more chill approach and not just blast through content. Super chill super fun.
it's insane to me just how little work blizzard actually does. They could have made the game so much better and yet they do nothing. It's like nobody even works at their company anymore. Its not like they need to create new models or textures or animations. Just kitbash some zones together. They could make a whole new expansion in a week.
Turtle WoW is entirely meh. The best classic+ server going, and blizzard’s inspiration for SoD, is Ascension. Ascension is by far more superior to any other server out there, from free pick classes, to draft pick, to traditional classic+ with new dungeons and raids, to an entire new game with 21 brand new classes called Conquest of Azeroth… the amount of time and effort put into Ascension is absolutely insane and the quality of the product is next level compared to any other server out there. I’m pretty much anti private server and have an active wow sub and continue to play both retail and SoD and I will still give props to the ascension team for how well of a product they have made; it is absolutely next level. I wish blizzard would bring them on to work on a true classic+ and give them a full artistic and developmental freedom approach.
Blizzard is an incompetent bunch of amateurs, if you talk to anyone who worked there, they underpay and treat their staff worse than other game studios. The good devs left blizzard ages agoe, they simply cant delivet quality anymore, because their staff is shit. Imagine a private server doing a better job than a multi millionair company, look at retail, its a shit show, bad balance, bugs, etc, its honestly embarrasing
I will only play turtle wow if they somehow implement the graphics and the client that official servers have. And I have several QoL addons that I must have for WoW. Those are the main reasons why I don't play on private servers for the most part.
You can get a 4K graphics mod for Turtle. Honestly, the old-school graphics don't bother me. When I was a kid, we went from 16 bit sprites to 64 bit 3D. Nothing that came after that will ever be as impressive.
TBC and WOTLK are my favorite. Vanilla, CATA, and MOP are all okay to me. I really just want TBC classic again and wouldn't mind seeing something built off of TBC or WOTLK. I just feel those 2 xpacs are the best.

I love the idea of turtle wow for people interested in classic +. However, I do not recommend it for those who really only enjoy classic style pvp. The OG vanilla 1.12 client is incredibly janky and allows for macros that effectively trivialize pvp by allowing functions that shouldn't exist. For example, would you like to spam a macro that will only kick a certain class during a certain spell? Possible. This on top of the fact that you will be queueing into often low pop battlegrounds against players in not only Naxx bis but now 3.5 gear; it's not a great experience.
Do people know that blizzard has a VAST majority of women and DEI hires that are working on current WoW or do people live in a bubble and ignore whats happening in the gaming industry. To no ones surprise small projects like these made by fan and actual game interested people is why its better.
Before you unzip the download, create a new folder on your selected drive. Go into your main pc settings and ensure this folder is ignored by your virus scanner, then paste the file into your new folder and unzip. There is a guide on the forums, found it through Google
What is the issue with download? Try doing a torrent download for the patched client if the direct download is being flagged by your firewall or just disable it while downloading.
Blizzard dosen't have to compete with them or make this great looking content they just sell 100 dollar mounts and people eat em up. They don't wanna work hard when u can reskin a mount and make more money then the xpac.
SoD really could've been a golden goose for them. There's a myriad of reasons SoD has ''failed'' - Mainly due to lack of resources, but also for being so out of touch with the game (because none of them are playing it) Really sad to keep pumping time + effort into a game, while the developer is so hands off. Just give us Classic-Wotlk on a 2-3 year rolling basis.
A lot of that has to do with it being older content. I would argue that their quality has greatly improved over the last couple years. I would imagine most of the quality issues will be addressed by the time Turtle 2 is finished.
I want to ay turtle wow but can't get the resolution to 2560x1440 so it just looks all stretched and shit and I've tried every fucking fix out there makes me sad
Turtle WoW feels off... Like, small details like the jittery turn animations, the nameplate and damage number scaling incorrectly with the UI.. If anyone knows a fix for this (if there is one) I'd love to hear it.
welcome to 1.12.1. client. it's very outdated but it was exactly how it was 2004-2005 basically. You either adapt to it or you don't. I personally adapted and accepted the retro feeling behind it. There are FOV fixes, vanillatweaks and vanillafixes that make the game feel and look better (also HD patches that change the graphics drasticall) but you have all about it on the internet.
PvP on turtle is really bad, please don't promote it unless you've actually played and know that alliance have premade and because you can add the opposite faction horde players avoid the premade, alliance get a free win 10vs1 and horde get a free win 10 vs1 it's like win trading /cheating and requires no skill or challenge to win games and pve is great but gets boring thats why pvp is needed and should be pushed on servers, its like chess, your playing against another player a battle of the minds/skill, where as pve is just mindlessly attacking a npc requires 0 mind / skilled play
I dont understand how to use macros in turtle wow. Like for example my warrior to auto attack whenever i use a skill to start attacking a new mob and not having to right click it.
I love TWow, ive been playinh for 2 years now and still having fun. Ascension is just simply too complicated for me, but I am always open to learn, as I did enjoy the time I played on it, just a bit clueless.
Turtle isnt classic plus, its essentially fanfiction. Only blizzard could actually develop original content in the vein of vanila wow... But then i dont think they want to or can because of the staff not being old rpg nerds listening to metal and inspired by warhammer...

(Except for gender reassignment) - We want to see the more lore from; The Great war to warcraft3 in vanilla Azeroth! - WE DONT WANNA PLAY WITH FCKN RETAIL SKILLS ofc! - We wanna see new races in line with the story of vanilla(warcraft). (maybe worgens cuz worgens shows in 2003 vanilla trailer. maybe high elves, maybe goblins or ogres idk) - More world boss and more wpvp events would be good ofc in line with the lore of vanilla. - Another arena would be great like grubashi with different chest or reward idk. - We dont want flying mounts and transmogs! - Paladin and Shaman classes should not be available to both factions. This reminds me of retail (or blizzard in general), as why can't they add anything fun, that mostly because of fear of losing money or players (same thing), the other thing they don't give out anything that doesn't feel well made, so they release a lot of boring stuff and usually bugged, which is ironic.
Just curious if anyone has a suggestion for a classic+ server. Going to be getting my wife to try out the game and would like some suggestions on what we should try. I played Vanilla>Cata and we're currently doing Cata Classic, but would love to try a Vanilla+. I've heard about Turtle WoW and I am thinking of starting there, but if there are others that might compete I'd love to hear about it :).
Private servers are great conceptually but the small player bases, high latency and volatility of servers dying and restarting has always felt like a bad time investment. Nothing but positive things to say about Turtle. They have been amazing stewards of Vanilla WoW and understand what Classic+ should be.
The games gone down the drain and there was too many years of neglect, everyone is chasing that nostalgia but it was too many years of deaf ears from blizzard, even the game developers had no idea what they are doing.
they have been sleeping on classic's potential for almost 6 years now despite it earning half their wow sub revenue. they still believe in the "it's nostalgy" narrative, instead of the reality that subsequent expansions took away more and more from the game instead of adding to it.
This Warcraft direct is going to disappoint so many people it is going to be hilarious. Everyone expecting amazing stuff when they just spend their time tinkering how to rip-off you while putting the minimum effort. Just have a look at WoW, SoD or D4 to see how disconnected they are from their fanbases and how little they care with how many bugs those have for their insane price. Classic + will never be like this which is why I'll be stuck in ERA.....SHAME gaming has not evolved for the better and i've witnessed almost all of it.
It is a great server, with great custim changes, but also a very carebear server.. i did not know until i played a bit.. so, for people who enjoy PVE servers, it is awesome, but for people who prefer PVP servers, it is horrible. Warmode is an option, but not the same as an open world pvp. Still, i give full support to Turtle WoW, and i hope that it encourage and inspire studios like Blizzard, if it still is a game studio, to take some notes how a Classic Plus server should look like. SoD is a catastrophy and an abomination that should die as soon as possible. Blizzard, if you do not plan to make some Classic Plus content, just release Vanilla-TBC- Wotlk progression servers like Warmane does, without a cashop, and believe me, everyone will be happy. Or just fresh Vanilla, if the progression servers are too much for you, that resets after some time with an option to keep them in Era or something. Abandon SoD, it is a failure, just like SoM was. Just give your players real something to play. Rerelease the Classic from 2019 and everyone will be happy. Perfect option is progression server, Vanilla-TBC-WotLK.

If we’re being honest the reason why Cataclysm has nosedived in popularity is chiefly because Cataclysm isn’t Classic. That isn’t to say that there aren’t people who’re nostalgic for that expansion as there’s plenty but The Classic era (Vanilla, TBC, and Wrath) is strictly BEFORE the cataclysm. Classic+ appeals to people precisely because it’s got the feel and flavour of the Classic era but with new content and/or twists on the formula e.g. new playable but classic era appropriate races, new classes and additional talents or spell tweaks, etc.
Cataclysm nosedived because SoD has all the priority which is just dumb... they even removed joyous journey from cataclysm to make sure that it stays bad...
Cataclassic dont even feel like vanilla cata for - its to easy to the point of meaningless to level - why even bother , gear dont matter crats dont matter , nothing matters -everyone are soloing ,dungeons are just crap

SoD is getting bare minimum effort, it legitimately feels like it's on life support / maintenance mode. There's so many issues with class balance and yet the devs haven't touched anything in like 2 months now.
Tbh i would have played blizzards wotlk and cata. But they dont Care at all, they dont care about faction Balance, people on the server dont play for fun, only minmax tryhard. Gold buying is a must, gdkp mafias. Private Servers are so much more fun right now
I've also been playing TurtleWoW for a few months now and it's amazing. The sad thing is that Blizz could make lots of money if they did what Twow is doing. New raids, new dungeons, new locations in the old dungeons, completely new zones, new classes for each fraction, changes and balance done to all talent trees making most of the trees now viable and interesting (we finally have a real melee hunter, and Ret pallys are competitive DPS!), and it's amazing.
They even added Jewelcrafting, and it's 10x better then the original version. in addition to gear buff items, it also makes staves and trinkets. They have plans now on adding more regions, and even updating the engine to unreal 5. And the dev's are huge fans of warcraft lore, and it shows in all their changes. if you like vanilla and dream of a real classic+, you owe it to yourself to try out turtle.
The problem I have with private servers is the possibility they get taken down at any point Blizzard decides to throw dick around and all your progress (and it's classic so you know that took time) is just poof, gone.

It’s not illegal to talk about private servers. I’m guessing he has some agreement with Blizzard. They give him early access to stuff, he doesn’t talk bad about Blizzard or encourage private servers.

Warmane is bigger and making more money than blizzards era servers, metagoblin plays Warmane at some point cause I’ve ganked him several times in the past.
Cataclysm wouldn't be remembered as badly as it was if it wasn't for the fact that the world was never restored at any capacity to it's original glory. (Draining Thousand Needles/Shimmering Flats), Mending the Scar between the 2 halves of the Barrens, etc.) Essentially it got rid of the original nostalgia of the Vanilla world, but then left it in a state where the rest of "Old" Azeroth zones are locked in time and feel like they are stuck in a story/narrative that was over a decade ago.
That's just my take of what they should've done with the follow up of Cataclysm, but sadly not what we got... Maybe if a reboot ever happens... They take something like those aspects into account if ever attempting to "revamp" the vanilla world as they did in Cata.

@@Followtheham I haven't played since dragonflight s2 on retail, I enjoyed SoD in first 2 phases but p3 xDDD nah it was a joke. They runied the classic exp completly, but stupid things like the 1-hour mail delay were of course kept. Now im playing on warmane onyxia it is the CLASSIC i want to be honest, df-dual talent and BG queue anywhere. In my opinion the classic EXP comes from the content not the outdated annoying features.

Turtle WoW is what alleviated my concerns regarding seeing WoW "die" if ever officially taken offline through Blizzard failure and/or IP (WoW) support collapse. I was concerned that such an iconic period in gaming would either begin to fade (into nothing) day 1, or live on as a sad withered husk of its former self like Warhammer Age of Reckoning, etc.
The Turtle team has created (and continues to) a version of Classic WoW that's not only better than the original, but better overall IMO than the modern Classic that Blizzard has and continues to attempt to create.
My biggest want for Turtle at present, is updated Auction House search settings (ex: search only listings with buyout prices, etc).
Probably my ideal WoW, would be a Turtle WoW foundation with some of the added * fun * elements of Season of Discovery, all overseen by the group that as I see it has the best approach to further development of Classic WoW : The Turtle WoW Dev Crew
You forgot to mention the number of leveling challenges offered, not just including the popular Hardcore mode but also War Mode, Craftmaster, and classic Slow Leveling.
Scarlet Keep is a T4 raid that requires you to get the Ashbringer from Naxx and go into SM Cath where high inquisitor fairbanks leads you through his chamber into an underground tunnel and there is the entrance to the scarlet crusade's biggest ambition yet, complete with a high castle citadel and seaport.
That got scrapped. The developer in charge of that is no longer with the team

I love all of the praise for turtle wow. Let me just add one more compliment:
It always feels fresh because there are always people leveling. No other server has lasted this long, because most will flame out after a year or two of endgame stagnation. But the combination of new content keeping the endgame fresh, people rolling alts, and truly fresh new players keeps the server feeling timeless.
Plus the devs are incredible, GMs are always online and respond near instantly, the friendly world atmosphere... it's the single best wow server I've ever played on. And I started during OG vanilla.

Wow, this video is so good! It has me hyped for WoW again….and I’ve been playing since Vanilla. I can genuinely say that I don’t remember the last time I was really REALLY excited to play WoW. It made me realize I really don’t like a lot of the stuff they’ve been doing for a while now….I’ve basically turned into a collector and then log off.
But Classic + looks like it has the soul of WoW again….it got me a little emotional LOL. I’m definitely going to play some. Thank you!
Just bc something is classic + doesn't mean its good. A lot of turtle is mediocre and buggy. Terrible class changes and a lot of non vanilla things like xmog and tbc mounts. It starts to turn into a clown show. The only thing they do better is ban bots.

For some reason I want to mention that I love turtles.
I'm just glad that SoD made shaman tanks a thing (not sure if those other servers did or didn't) and I hope if classic + comes, they are still available for the Horde. I'd be cool if they gave us the TBC races plus jewelcrafting in a classic + so both factions can enjoy shamans and paladins. Jewelcrafting would also be nice as by end game in SoD, Thorium ores were useless in my opinion, they are easy to get either by mining or buying for cheap, so would be cool if they stayed more relevant by use for gems or something. The arcanite bars were also easy to get since you could get 2-5 procs, so they also became cheap on the AH after the 0.5 super short phase came to an end. The biggest disappoint of SoD in my opinion was very little actual new content. We had some new level up raids, but they basically used the same areas/mob types. Although the nightmare incursions sucked (besides taking advantage at the start to some easy gold), it was actually nice that they made a reason to go to those different areas in the world most people didn't visit, just wish the content was handled better. The crystal vale new world boss and DFC 5man was nice as "new content", just wish we had more, but it sounds like the SoD team was small. They definitely got the gear improvements to 5mans/raids/tier sets done right at least.
There's so many of these servers in the works right now.. Epoch WoW and CoA also look damn amazing.. The issue for me with Turtle is that its already deep in progression.. I'm lvling a character or two just to see it all.. but I don't think I'd say unless they rolled a fresh server.

Still playing on Deviate Delight having tons of fun, my guild just started AQ40 as most other guilds are in AQ too, maybe one or two in Naxx. My guild decided to take a more chill approach and not just blast through content. Super chill super fun.

it's insane to me just how little work blizzard actually does. They could have made the game so much better and yet they do nothing. It's like nobody even works at their company anymore. Its not like they need to create new models or textures or animations. Just kitbash some zones together. They could make a whole new expansion in a week.

Turtle WoW is entirely meh. The best classic+ server going, and blizzard’s inspiration for SoD, is Ascension. Ascension is by far more superior to any other server out there, from free pick classes, to draft pick, to traditional classic+ with new dungeons and raids, to an entire new game with 21 brand new classes called Conquest of Azeroth… the amount of time and effort put into Ascension is absolutely insane and the quality of the product is next level compared to any other server out there. I’m pretty much anti private server and have an active wow sub and continue to play both retail and SoD and I will still give props to the ascension team for how well of a product they have made; it is absolutely next level. I wish blizzard would bring them on to work on a true classic+ and give them a full artistic and developmental freedom approach.

Blizzard is an incompetent bunch of amateurs, if you talk to anyone who worked there, they underpay and treat their staff worse than other game studios. The good devs left blizzard ages agoe, they simply cant delivet quality anymore, because their staff is shit. Imagine a private server doing a better job than a multi millionair company, look at retail, its a shit show, bad balance, bugs, etc, its honestly embarrasing
I will only play turtle wow if they somehow implement the graphics and the client that official servers have. And I have several QoL addons that I must have for WoW. Those are the main reasons why I don't play on private servers for the most part.
You can get a 4K graphics mod for Turtle. Honestly, the old-school graphics don't bother me. When I was a kid, we went from 16 bit sprites to 64 bit 3D. Nothing that came after that will ever be as impressive.

TBC and WOTLK are my favorite. Vanilla, CATA, and MOP are all okay to me. I really just want TBC classic again and wouldn't mind seeing something built off of TBC or WOTLK. I just feel those 2 xpacs are the best.

I love the idea of turtle wow for people interested in classic +. However, I do not recommend it for those who really only enjoy classic style pvp. The OG vanilla 1.12 client is incredibly janky and allows for macros that effectively trivialize pvp by allowing functions that shouldn't exist. For example, would you like to spam a macro that will only kick a certain class during a certain spell? Possible. This on top of the fact that you will be queueing into often low pop battlegrounds against players in not only Naxx bis but now 3.5 gear; it's not a great experience.
If anyone actually think any private server has a playerbase close to any of the actual classic versions they are delusional.

It might be your antivirus software giving a false positive
Before you unzip the download, create a new folder on your selected drive. Go into your main pc settings and ensure this folder is ignored by your virus scanner, then paste the file into your new folder and unzip. There is a guide on the forums, found it through Google
What is the issue with download? Try doing a torrent download for the patched client if the direct download is being flagged by your firewall or just disable it while downloading.

It is not illegal to name private servers but I understand the concern. A takedown can be a problem even without merit.
Blizzard dosen't have to compete with them or make this great looking content they just sell 100 dollar mounts and people eat em up. They don't wanna work hard when u can reskin a mount and make more money then the xpac.

There's a myriad of reasons SoD has ''failed'' - Mainly due to lack of resources, but also for being so out of touch with the game (because none of them are playing it)

Turtle is nice, but quality of the custom content has a big variance of quality.
A lot of that has to do with it being older content. I would argue that their quality has greatly improved over the last couple years.
I would imagine most of the quality issues will be addressed by the time Turtle 2 is finished.

I want to ay turtle wow but can't get the resolution to 2560x1440 so it just looks all stretched and shit and I've tried every fucking fix out there makes me sad
Turtle WoW feels off... Like, small details like the jittery turn animations, the nameplate and damage number scaling incorrectly with the UI.. If anyone knows a fix for this (if there is one) I'd love to hear it.
welcome to 1.12.1. client. it's very outdated but it was exactly how it was 2004-2005 basically. You either adapt to it or you don't. I personally adapted and accepted the retro feeling behind it. There are FOV fixes, vanillatweaks and vanillafixes that make the game feel and look better (also HD patches that change the graphics drasticall) but you have all about it on the internet.

PvP on turtle is really bad, please don't promote it unless you've actually played and know that alliance have premade and because you can add the opposite faction horde players avoid the premade, alliance get a free win 10vs1 and horde get a free win 10 vs1 it's like win trading /cheating and requires no skill or challenge to win games and pve is great but gets boring thats why pvp is needed and should be pushed on servers, its like chess, your playing against another player a battle of the minds/skill, where as pve is just mindlessly attacking a npc requires 0 mind / skilled play

I dont understand how to use macros in turtle wow. Like for example my warrior to auto attack whenever i use a skill to start attacking a new mob and not having to right click it.
I love TWow, ive been playinh for 2 years now and still having fun. Ascension is just simply too complicated for me, but I am always open to learn, as I did enjoy the time I played on it, just a bit clueless.
Turtle isnt classic plus, its essentially fanfiction. Only blizzard could actually develop original content in the vein of vanila wow... But then i dont think they want to or can because of the staff not being old rpg nerds listening to metal and inspired by warhammer...
Apart from Chris Metzen, all the old devs who wrote the story for early warcraft are all gone, so it might as well be a third party thing these days

- They need to unlocked all the locked maps in Azeroth and add new quest/story chains.
- There are total 9 locked map in vanilla Azeroth (with isles)
- They should add new dungeons and few new raids to some of these locked maps ofc. and design new items/gears fit to vanilla culture.
- Some of people dont wanna see GDKP - Bots - Multiboxers - gold sellers and boosters. blizz should take this into consideration.
- BARBERSHOP would be great in vanilla btw. (Except for gender reassignment)
- We want to see the more lore from; The Great war to warcraft3 in vanilla Azeroth!
- WE DONT WANNA PLAY WITH FCKN RETAIL SKILLS ofc!
- We wanna see new races in line with the story of vanilla(warcraft). (maybe worgens cuz worgens shows in 2003 vanilla trailer. maybe high elves, maybe goblins or ogres idk)
- More world boss and more wpvp events would be good ofc in line with the lore of vanilla.
- Another arena would be great like grubashi with different chest or reward idk.
- We dont want flying mounts and transmogs!
- Paladin and Shaman classes should not be available to both factions. This breaks the vanilla culture!
- We don't want the awful retail models!
- We want just the real, completed vanilla!
I am a 35 year old dad warcraft player, I have cleared vanilla twice before.
I hope one day they will complete the unfinished vanilla and present it to us...

This reminds me of retail (or blizzard in general), as why can't they add anything fun, that mostly because of fear of losing money or players (same thing), the other thing they don't give out anything that doesn't feel well made, so they release a lot of boring stuff and usually bugged, which is ironic.

I played Vanilla>Cata and we're currently doing Cata Classic, but would love to try a Vanilla+. I've heard about Turtle WoW and I am thinking of starting there, but if there are others that might compete I'd love to hear about it :).

Private servers are great conceptually but the small player bases, high latency and volatility of servers dying and restarting has always felt like a bad time investment.
Nothing but positive things to say about Turtle. They have been amazing stewards of Vanilla WoW and understand what Classic+ should be.
The games gone down the drain and there was too many years of neglect, everyone is chasing that nostalgia but it was too many years of deaf ears from blizzard, even the game developers had no idea what they are doing.
they have been sleeping on classic's potential for almost 6 years now despite it earning half their wow sub revenue. they still believe in the "it's nostalgy" narrative, instead of the reality that subsequent expansions took away more and more from the game instead of adding to it.

Just have a look at WoW, SoD or D4 to see how disconnected they are from their fanbases and how little they care with how many bugs those have for their insane price. Expecting anything mindblowing or genuinely exciting is being delusional.

Classic + will never be like this which is why I'll be stuck in ERA.....SHAME gaming has not evolved for the better and i've witnessed almost all of it.
It is a great server, with great custim changes, but also a very carebear server.. i did not know until i played a bit.. so, for people who enjoy PVE servers, it is awesome, but for people who prefer PVP servers, it is horrible. Warmode is an option, but not the same as an open world pvp. Still, i give full support to Turtle WoW, and i hope that it encourage and inspire studios like Blizzard, if it still is a game studio, to take some notes how a Classic Plus server should look like. SoD is a catastrophy and an abomination that should die as soon as possible. Blizzard, if you do not plan to make some Classic Plus content, just release Vanilla-TBC- Wotlk progression servers like Warmane does, without a cashop, and believe me, everyone will be happy. Or just fresh Vanilla, if the progression servers are too much for you, that resets after some time with an option to keep them in Era or something. Abandon SoD, it is a failure, just like SoM was. Just give your players real something to play. Rerelease the Classic from 2019 and everyone will be happy. Perfect option is progression server, Vanilla-TBC-WotLK.
