Definitely the cleanest minimalist desk configurations on UA-cam. Even the wiring is neat and tidy, something a lot of people who post desk makeover videos claim to do but few actually achieve it.
I’m glad you like it. Thanks for watching! 🙏🏼
Currently in the process of building my desk. This cable management is the best I have seen online. Great work!!

@@iBJanky You’re welcome! I thought it’d be fairly more affordable.
Although my relative said that building one would be more risky because compared to buying a cheaper pre-made standing desk, I’d still have a semi functional desk if something were to go wrong. As as opposed to building one, if something goes wrong- I don’t have a desk at all. I wanted to know your thoughts on that….was it relatively easy to put together? Did you find some things more complicated rather than putting together a premade desk? 🙏🏾
@@snoozyA113 Putting together your own desk is no more complicated than putting together a pre-made one. It’s very straightforward and simple. Just plan in advance what you want, and you’ll be fine 😎👍🏼
@@iBJanky Thank you so much! People had me so worried that I can’t do it or put one together but I really feel like I could. 😅🫡 I’m glad to hear it’s not impossible for me.
I plan to buy an already finished maple or birch solid wood top (72x30) so I hope that eliminates some extra work. Do you think if I just follow your previous DIY desk installation I’ll be ok? Sorry for all the replies 😭🙏🏾
@@snoozyA113 If you’re going to buy a finished wood top, then that will save you a lot of time. Then you just have to attach the legs, and whatever else you want. Just use my video as a guide, and you’ll be fine. Good luck with your project! Let me know how it turns out! 😎👍🏼
What a great video! Straight to the point. You went over everything plus more when deciding what/how to setup a desk with clean/minimalist features. Great job and thank you! I'll be doing this for the house I'm moving into and setting up a home office! (Also, the gun magnet made me laugh at loud!)
I’m glad you found my video useful. Good luck with your project, and thanks for watching! God bless! 🙏🏼
When I get around to building mine, I'm literally going to copy everything in this video. Wouldn't have done anything different. Looks fire!
Thanks for the kind words, and thanks for watching! Good luck with your project 😎👍🏼
I'm just starting my journey on a similar build. Yesterday I purchased the same size butcher block from Home Depot and all the supplies to stain it. I'm going with dark black stain. I too want no visible cords, so my setup will be very similar. I must have watched the same video as you, I too purchased the cable raceway from Amazon and should be here tomorrow. I have an iMac pro, so my setup will be a little different. However I do have a Macbook Pro and I'm going to store it under the desk and connect it via Thunderbolt as well. I got brackets to mount under the desk so that I can easily slide the Macbook Pro into and not take up space on the desk. However I didn't think of putting a draw in, so when I finished watching your video I ordered one as well.
Sounds like it’s going to be a sweet set up! Good luck with your project, and thanks for watching! 😎👍🏼
Great job made me think about my own project.
Thanks for watching! I hope your project turns out well! 😎👍🏼

Came for the desk, stayed for noodles! Good video man
Haha, Noodles love the attention 😸
I’m glad you like the video man. Thanks for watching! 😎👍🏼
Just some suggestions! , For the laptop thunderbolt (Silver ones) @14:30 , You could actually run it at the bottom and up to the laptop while you have the ports facing the edges of the table , while the thunderbolt cables exits from the end of the cable raceway (at the right side , the very end of the raceway) . This will then help resolve the ring of slack that you've solved and make it cleaner :) Aside from that , I just wanna say you did an awesome job with it! props! I also liked the way how you handled the extension wires from the walls to the desk. You could try using the J channel to hide the wires when the desk goes up and down! just something that I've learnt while doing cable management for my clients ! :)
I’m glad you liked my video! Thanks for the suggestions. You definitely have some good ideas. Thanks for watching! 😎👍🏼

Thia is one of the most simple setups and probably the best i have seen. It appears as if everything was purchased so therefore you put time and thougjt into it, not alot of bias because of free goods. Those low profile drawers are on my wishlist. Have you made any changes since this? Keep up the good work, i will follow your journey
Hey buddy,
Yes, I purchased everything myself using my own money. I did not get any free products, or any sponsorships. I spent a lot of time planning this project before I even started buying the parts. The drawer is great, and works exactly as intended. I have not made any changes to the desk, as a matter of fact, I'm using it right now (my black cat is laying in front of me as I'm typing this 😅).
Let me know if I can be of any help in the future. Thanks for watching! 😎👍
Very well detailed video. Thanks for this as I am using this for my go to video when making my desk. My question is how sturdy is the desk when raised up high. Is there any wobble at all? Will this particular desk frame work or is the heavy duty desk frame be better?
The desk is very sturdy regardless of the height position. No need for a heavy duty desk frame.
Thanks for watching! 😎👍🏼
Thanks again for such a useful informative video. Great follow up to your staining video. Questions on the electric frame. Are you happy with it so far and would you recommend it? I was about to pull the trigger on an uplift frame for $600. Thanks man!
I am very happy with the adjustable desk frame. It makes it so much more comfortable, since you can adjust the desk height exactly to your liking. You can get the frame for less on Amazon. Check the video description for the link.
Thanks for watching!
Lots of great ideas to come from this build. Thanks for sharing your work, excellent job! I am curious to know how far apart you have your desk legs? Usually with these standing desks there is a range in which you can expand these, and with your 6 foot desktop you had plenty of room on the side to add the surge protector.
I’m glad you found my video useful!
I wanted the most stable base for the long tabletop, so I adjusted the desk legs to its maximum allowed width, which was 59”.
Thanks for watching! 😎👍🏼
@@iBJanky Thank you for sharing the desktop setup. I copied purchasing the most accessories you suggested from Amazon and am ready to set up now. I have similar questions as Michael. My desktop is 60"x28" but I want to keep the gap between the left and right legs about 55". Can you tell me from where to where you use the 59"max allowance? If I keep the inner width for 55", it probably longer than 59"
@@sohyun3 The manufacturer measures the width as the distance from screw hole to screw hole, where the frame is mounted onto the tabletop.
Awesome setup. Can you share what is the thunderbolt cable you are using pls? No docking required for the Mac? Everytime I close my Mac withouth having the power adapter plugged in, it goes to sleep, so I'm looking for a solution like yours. Thanks

Hello, great explanation all things. When attaching the wood slab to stand, what screws you used? Have you used threaded inserts? what diameter? how much depth? what is the distance from the left and right edge you placed the screws?
I used the screws that were included with the desk frame. I did not have to use any additional parts. I used the maximum width from left to right edges of the frame, which was approximately 60”.
I hope that helps. Thanks for watching! 😎👍🏼
@@iBJanky is your wood slab is 72" length?
@@ramakattunga3235 Yes, that's correct.
great video! i bought a cheap desk from newegg, that shake with each typing of the keys, and i got a lot of great ideas from your video. i was thinking of alos getting a butcher block either from lowes or home depot, but i wanted to ask, have you experienced any wobble in your set up? i will rarely be using it in a standing position but have known to be a "hard typer"
any information will be great! awesome vid!

Great Job! I’m doing the same project. Have you had any issues with the wood moving (expanding or contracting)? I’ve heard some folks mentioning you should oversize or slot screw holes to allow for movement.

Thanks for watching! 😎👍🏼
Great video Janky! I want to build a very similar set up. Did you drill pilot holes before you put the screws in for the legs/attachments or did you just screw them in?

Very very nice clean looking desk! Your video was easy to follow and ideas were great too. Do you like the electric desk risers?
I am thinking of making my own top but like the idea of the desk riser. Thanks for sharing this video much appreciated!
Paul Cape Coral Fl. 🤙
Hey Paul,
I appreciate the kind words. I’m glad I was able to share some good ideas with you. As far as the electric desk frame, I really do like it because I can customize the height according to what I’m doing. Sometimes I feel like sitting down, and sometimes I feel like standing up. The choice is yours if you have an adjustable frame, and it’s at the push of a button. Super convenient. I hope that helps.
Thanks for watching! 😎👍🏼
@@iBJankyAmazing video series on this sir. I will be buying this exact butcher block and following your other video guide on finishing. Thanks!
My question is in regards to the sturdiness of this setup. I’ve had too many desks that make my monitors wobble when I type. It’s not a lot but it’s enough to be annoying. Is this super stable? Rock solid? lol. When I type I put my whole forearms on the desk to have proper posture so maybe that’s my problem. Please let me know your thoughts if you can. Thanks a lot.
My other alternative is the classic Alex drawers underneath but then you lose so much legroom down there. But you gain all the stability in the world.
@@Juice_VI I have no problem with my monitor wobbling when I type. The setup I have has been very stable for me. I hope that answers your questions. Thanks for watching!

@ 14:27, what thunder bolt cable is that? does it charge and transfer video from your mac to your monitor at the same time?.........most videos i've seen have to use a separate HDMI cable and a charging cable separately to send feed to the monitor from mac books. Thanks in Advance
The Thunderbolt cable charges the laptop, and also sends the video signal from the laptop to the monitor. That’s the whole reason I went with it because it eliminates the need for separate charging and video cables, so it’s really neat and tidy. I got mine from Amazon:

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for watching! 😎👍🏼

@@iBJanky your welcome thanks you for answering
I have two 24-in monitors and a laptop I don't know how I'm going to be able to keep wires nice and neat and minimal like you did I also have an accell docking station. Will I be able to fit that inside of the raceway. Also for the surge protector how many feet in length is the car because do you have sufficient length when you raise the desk up that's something that no one addresses on UA-cam in terms of when the desk is elevated do you have sufficient length of the cord to support the height of the desk. Your setup is nice and neat I don't know if it'll work for two monitors plus a laptop
The raceway I bought was 3” x 3-7/8”. They make them in different sizes, but it should be able to hide all your cords. If you’re trying to fit your docking station inside, just measure the dimensions first.
The surge protector cord is 10’ long. It is sufficient length even if I raise the desk to the highest setting.
Thank you for watching!
Another amazing video, came from your butcher block staining and finishing video. Just curious if you pre drilled the holes for the legs on the bottom of the finished butcher block, or just put in the screws normally (read somewhere about possible cracks if not pre drilled).
I pre-drilled some small pilot holes before screwing in the legs using the supplied hardware. I didn’t have any issues with any cracking.
Hope this helps! Thanks for watching! 😎👍🏼
@@iBJanky Sounds good, thank you once again!
@@kainhighwind978 You bet! 😎👍🏼
Awesome outcome! Was it hard to put the cover on the raceway, with the wires falling off as you slide it in? I want to do the same; but I'm weary about the cover going on.
It was very easy to put on the raceway cover. You just have to do it slowly, and the wires shouldn’t be an issue.
Thanks for watching! 😎👍🏼
great work, are the legs you got super stable at your sitting and standing heights?
They are very stable. I have had no issues at all.

Hey, I'm looking at a Sparrow Peak top as its one of the few butcher blocks I can find that are 30" deep. How are you finding this setup? Any concerns you've noticed or has it been good? I'm guessing no sag since you've got the desk frame supporting the middle?
I personally love the extra depth of the 30”
I’ve been using this setup on a regular basis, and I have no complaints or issues whatsoever. It’s been great.

Which diameter for the caster wheels works for the stand? Looks like there are multiple choices on amazon. Thank you!
M10 casters are the ones that fit the desk frame. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching! 😎👍🏼
Absolutely love the setup!
Like everyone else in the comments, your video gave me such a leg up on how to go about this the right way.
Im about to start the process of staining this weekend, followed with installation and assembly of the desk on the following weekend and I couldn’t be any more excited.
One small question for you, what Milwaukee drill do you use in this video? I have a Ryobi One + but I think I need an upgrade to a better drill. Thanks in advance for your comments & help!
I’m glad you found my video useful! I also have a video on how to stain butcher block. Check it out if you haven’t already. Let me know if you have any questions.
As far as the drill, it’s just a Milwaukee M18 18-volt drill that I bought back in 2011. It still works great to this day, never had any issues.
Good luck with your project! Let me know how it turns out. Thanks for watching! 😎👍🏼
I have your other (staining) video saved and ready for reference come Staining time!
As for the drill, thanks for the clarity on it. The Milwaukee brand just seems to feel so much better than Ryobi.
If I have any questions I’ll let you know. Thanks for all your help!
Hoping to share the results soon.
@@fosterhigginbotham9016 Sounds good! I can’t wait to hear about it 😎👍🏼
A couple of small questions for you for peace of mind.
What is the part/extender that you have on the end of your Milwaukee drill? Is it some sort of 1/4’ Hex to Phillips Extender? It looks like a nice tool for tight spaces.
Secondly, considering my Butchers block is so similar in dimension, what kind of screws did you use to drill into the Desk? I’m assuming nothing above 3/4 inch granted the desk was 1 inch thick?
Thanks in advance for everything.
@@fosterhigginbotham9016 It’s called a bit extender, or bit holder. They sell them at Home Depot, and they’re pretty inexpensive. The come really handy if you need more clearance.
Very nice and clean set up! Do you find your knees hitting the table when you sit?
Thanks for the compliment! My knees do not hit the table at all when I sit. Even if they did, I could easily adjust the desk height in order to avoid that.
Thanks for watching! 😎👍🏼
