It was time to up the production on Pro Home Cooks, so I’ve busted out of my apartment and got myself an official kitchen studio. The only issue is, I first have to build the entire thing myself! Well, I wouldn’t call it much of an issue, since building was my first passion before I found the wonderful world of cooking.
Since I’ve got some incredible projects planned for the studio space, I wanted to bring you in on the process over the next few weeks of how I transform this big white box into something special. My first project isn’t kitchen related, but it’s extremely important to the foundation of this channel! Without an efficient work station I won’t be getting much editing done for these videos, so I’ve teamed up with @fully to create a completely custom standing desk. All of the products featured on this desk are listed below! Check out fully.com to take your work space to the next level! #standingdesk #KitchenStudio #fullypartner

5 minutes in and he is teaching us how to cook. Did I misread the title?
Yeah - made the video almost unwatchable for me. 7:40 in before he actually starts on the desk.
Well this is a cooking channel after all.
Tbf the channel is named "pro home cooks" but yea, cooking has nothing to do with the title of the video.
I love it!
@@quesadylan145 yo i didnt realize until I read the comment completely forgot why i clicked the video lol
You can seriously notice a difference in videos since you've changed brands so to speak. You can definitely tell that's you're passionate about what you're doing again and its awesome!
So cool that you're a maker! I've recently started making stuff, woodworking and such, and since then I've definitely made a strong connection between making stuff in a workshop and cooking. In the end they both are taking raw materials and modifying and combining them into a finished product that didn't exist before and it now exists thanks to your work and creativity.
Definitely do more of these DIY building projects! It's refreshing to see a different side to you as well as having a change up in the variety of content! Excited to see more Mike!
0:00-7:30 is coocking - Skip to 7:40 for tutorial how to make table ;)
Nicely done, I will add some small modifications.
Not even that. He didn't built a table..... he just built the table-top.
The videography is so beautiful. Not to mention the wood working I always feel so inspired by you.
This is freaking incredible, I really love the desk and I have decided that I will also make my own standing desk. Its been awhile since I did any type of carpentry work myself, but its a hobby that I have always loved. Thanks for the video
I've really been wanting to get into carpentry for the last year but haven't made the dive as of yet. I think it is one of the most interesting crafts because you can do so much with it.
.
Man freaking loving the change. Don't ever stop. I see a lot of hard work going into each video and i absolutely enjoyed every bit of it
The most beautiful desk top I've ever seen. It's nice that you can do such things with your father and spend time together.
"You can never have enough clamps" is the woodworkers version of "You can never have enough compost" from gardeners. Really enjoyed the video!
I am impressed. I am a retired woodshop teacher. Loved your Dad's shop.
A lot of cooking shows forget about the joy of putting together your kitchen. Can't wait to see more!
Two of the things that interest me most; cooking and craftsmanship. To me, as an artist/cook/DIY'er, they all go hand in hand.
I'm so glad I found this channel. Thanks for your inspirations, Mike.
Mafaldine are my favourite pasta shape. Your dad's studio looks wonderful, and what beautiful chopping boards he makes.
Well done on the desk, looks really nice
I would recommend a piece of trimmed scrap leather between the monitor arm and the desk - you're likely to mar the surface finish over time otherwise.
Also, I wouldn't call that staining because no stain was involved. Sealing would be a better term.
Must be nice to work in that shop with ya pops. May I suggest he open his open youtube channel to share is woodworking secrets?
AMAZING video. I love how the cooking on your channel adapts to meet the needs of your life! It's very relatable for me personally as life is constantly changing. that's true PRO HOME COOKING :)
Wow Man you are so *MULTI TALENTED* Wish I had some of your Skill's....
Awww yes, that's a beautiful desktop! Can't wait for more woodworking/building videos. This studio is gonna be rad, can tell already!
I love that you're incorporating quick, portable meals in the midst of this massive project. You're proving that you're never too busy to make balanced meals.
You are an inspiration for architects who love cooking.
wow loving the desk!! Your taste of decor is great too!!
you should collaborate with Alex (French guy cooking) again because his studio is sick. might be fun to see him help you and or give constructive criticism
Loved their collab!!
I love this type of content as much as the cooking one! I hope it won't end when the new workspace will be done 🤞
Those videos are kind like Alex French Guy Cooking , with DIY all around the cooking process :) it’s great btw !
I was thinking the same thing both redoing studios recently too
#spreaditlikebutter
Seeing more and more things you have in common with Alex over at French Guy Cooking
They were twins separated at birth
hm...An impulsive and completely mad man (whom i adore) there and a down to earth "let's do thing in an orderly fashion" guy here. What they have in common is their love for what they do though.
Indeed!
Yes I am an interior designer woman & now at home learning to cook. So ur teaching us both our passions ! Especially we millienials need learn before be a millionaire. Love from Malaysia.
I had no idea a standing desk video could be so appetizing.
Few more additions to consider (if you haven't already):
Satechi Thunderbolt-3 dock
Drop CTRL keyboard
Logitech g502 lightspeed mouse (yes, gaming mouse, but trust me you won't regret it).
With the dock, you can have a truly one cable solution. All peripherals, including monitor AND power adapter, hooked up to the dock. Just one little cable between the laptop and the dock. Boom!
Cheers.
I love that you both shouted out your Dad. Think it's gonna be cool seeing you both grow as individuals. We didn't get to see all that before
Love, love, LOVE that desk!! You are a man of many talents! I know you're probably extra busy working on your new digs, but I hope we get a video like this now and again to see how things are progressing. I also love that you incorporated a quick and healthy meal idea in there. A lot of us are super busy (or at least go through seasons of it) and appreciate those kinds of meal ideas.
That's not stain though, that's varnish.. a protective film for wood. It has no pigment.
You can get stain varnish, in fact in my opinion its much easier to get a good result with it as its not absorbed the discoloration is more consistent.
Nice! My own woodwork is not nearly that caliber, but I'm working on the first step toward getting there: accepting that my work will be imperfect. Of course, I have higher priority on other handicrafts too, but I'm almost finished with a clothesline I've been meaning to install for years now! I look forward to seeing this series continue!
I love this dish! I think I made it about ten times now. I made one adjustment though: I’ve added one onion before adding the garlic and tomatos and let it sit for a while to add a bit of extra sweetness to the dish. Love your videos, keep it up!
How cool, man! Your father is cool too.
Very standing out solution of glueing together different types of wood. And the idea to make a desk like that... Impressed. Thanks for this vdeo.
I really like how the desk looks and the fact that you made it yourself is totally awesome! I hope that you could reach your goal and end up with an amazing space that would last for years. Keep up the great work!
Hey, could you tell me roughly how much the wood cost you for this project? Desk looks fantastic, great work!
There can't be anything better than a dad with a workshop.
This is beautiful and so interesting to watch the process. Loved this video ❤️👍🏽
hey bud, what were the final measurements of your desk top? I know you mentioned 80" wide but how deep?
That’s an amazing custom desk and I like that you took the time to create something unique! Just simply incredible 👍
12:54 min - Do the rollers come with the stand or one has to purchase them separately?
Cheers
What was the entire cost related to this standing des building? I need one
absolutely love the customized table top you made for yourselves ! I would love to do that someday , but I m not sure how to get to a wood shop and get it done.
I really like how you mixed cooking with making in this video. It reminds me a little of Alex's French Guy Cooking videos but with a different twist. I know you two have collaborated in the past, but it would be awesome to see collaboration in future that mixes cooking and making. You two are the only ones I've seen do this on UA-cam and it's super cool. Keep up the great work and congrats on the new space!
That desk is sweet! Love that you took us thru your process of building it. We’re looking to build our own desk as well and wish we had family or friends that worked with wood lol. Awesome desk man!
A Masterpiece. Loved the desk! Have been wanting to add a standing desk but have shied away from the boring pressed word offerings. Your desk is amazing. I'm ordering the frame from Fully and working on a custom surface. Thanks for the inspiration.
Wow thank you so much for this video! I was looking for a solution to my mom's problem - she wants a standing desk but doesn't want to shell out the $800-1000 for a good one, so I was looking at how to build one and discovered fully's site from here! Your desktop looks absolutely gorgeous, but I think I'll go with a simpler one haha! I'll build one for her for half the price! Amazing
Love this desk idea! This is exactly what we want to make for ourselves. Thank you for making this video.
This was a very interesting video Mike. Loved the finished desk. Can’t wait to see the rest of the studio as you do it.
Fun watching you’ll build the desk top. Very interesting. Your setup with desk looks fantastic. Best of luck moving forward
Minus the acidity in your cast iron, your videos are perfection. I'm in LOVE with these vids and will be sharing them with everyone I know!
Using the L shaped desk from Fully as well here. I got one of their tops, and it's not my favorite but the height adjustment is fantastic.
Loving the new channel rebrand! As a cook, woodworker, and a long time subscriber, this was a fantastic beautifully shot episode! The woodworker in me cringed when you said staining and then wiped on polyurethane, would have loved to see an oil finish on that similar to a cutting board, would have been cool. Awesome seeing your dads craft!
Good Job man! Your dads shop looks awesome. Since i do have my own woodshop, i am thinking about to make myself a similar desk! Keep it up!
Need the name of woods. From what I see looks like Maple, walnut, purple heart, padauk or mahogany, & oak?
Thanks for your vid. Beautiful top-table! Question: did you get the elevating motor for your table from Jarvis as well? They don't seem to sell it by itself or as a combo with their frame. Thx
1:49 "Things are just fermenting everywhere". I really felt that bro jaja
That desktop is absolutely gorgeous!
Loving the new space! Congrats!
Great video, you will love the sit stand desk, I picked up two not long ago for the office.
Congrats on that desk: great Job!
I completely get your point about adjusting life to circumstances: when I was truck driving in the early 9ties, there was hardly time to cook fresh every day. Not after 13hrs, beeing away from home. But on sundays, I would bake a cake. So I had a fantastic piece of cake, when getting home during the week. Should I mention only 27 different apple cakes in my repertoire, back then?
Keep up the good work!
WOW what an awesome desk, you have just given me some good ideas.
Thanks very much
the desk torned out great! Wish I had the same table top!!!
Love it! I want that exact desk!
Dude, good for you honestly. You're passionate and putting a lot of work into these videos, and it shows!
Beautiful Desk
How is the wobble on the Jarvis desk frame when it is on a high setting? :)
I consider to buy it
Are the wheels in the package included?
Wow! That desk setup is 100% awesome. Love and wish I had access to make a desktop like that on my own. Complete 💯 over 💯!!
I was literally looking for a video like this, Glad I found you. I loved this.... Love from India
Beautiful desk. I plan to make something similar. Thanks for the inspiration.
Hi would love one of the desktop, can I get pricing and how to place a customized order?
Congrats for the Level Up mate. Super Inspirational.
Love the pattern. Beautiful wood selection.
Awesome… and then nice to see where all this creativity originates… seeing your dad.
wow how amazing it is !
What a stunning desk you have! Loving it!
i love the desk I wish I could find those kinds of colorful woods in my place. Can you let me know what are the types of woods that are used to make that humungous desk.
What are the measurements for your desk top and what kind of wood would you recommend?
very helpful! my husband needs a workspace like your dads!
Love the desk and love the adjust-ability on it !! Me Wanna !!
Very impressive craftsmanship and collaboration. I absolutely love the size and simplicity of this design. Thanks a lot for sharing. Congratulations and much continued future success, later.
This exactly the project im into right now, thanks man!
I like the mix of cooking and diy. Totally how I roll.
beautiful table
Great content. Very refreshing and original.
hey any recommendations for that capisco hag chair...debating on the material
Really enjoying watching you begin to set up your wonderful new cooking studio! You’ve got soooo much space! It is going to be awesome. I love wood, and seeing the beautiful new desk top was great. It really is pretty. Looking forward very much to future videos and watching all this taking shape, not to mention all the great cooking.
Absolutely AWSOME
love this! thank you for sharing!
Back in the late 90s I had my music workstation at standing height along with my Hardware sequencer and tape machine.❤❤❤ for some reason I seen to have composed a lot of dance music at that time too..
Great video, great desk! I paused it on my phone to put it on the tv so I could see the build better. If this is any indication of the channel's future, I'm hooked.
What is the brand name of that kneeling chair you're using and where might I find one like that?
Wonderful desk. Great instructions.
beautiful desk!
Looking delicious, both the pasta and the chef :)
You’re right the desk top build is epic and beautiful beyond words. Wow!
WOW.... what a dream... That top is awesome....
Beautiful desk!
Love the colour of your desk n the way it was made.Great work
