  • Are you doing AIP by yourself? You probably feel like you're in the kitchen ALL THE TIME, right? It doesn't have to be that way though - in this video I share the things I've learned over the years of eating Paleo and AIP that have made it much easier and faster. In fact, aside from cooking dinner each night, I only spend about an hour in the kitchen making breakfasts and lunches each week - yet still have amazing, healthy, delicious meals!

      It was this one: amzn.to/3iNY7ol I have 2 - one for sweeter sauces and one for garlicky kinds of sauces like pestos because the garlic does not come out of the plastic, no matter how much you wash it or use lemon or whatever. There's nothing worse than going to have a yummy sweet berry sauce that tastes like garlic, lol!

    I appreciate you expert advice and lively video. I am starting AIP again, next week. I have felt like I am cooking and chopping food all day long even batch cooking somehow! I will try to do something sustainable.

    • @MicheleSpring
      @MicheleSpring  2 роки тому

      Hang in there - it gets easier. I think at first there does seem to be a lot more prep but as you start figuring out the little shortcuts and hacks that work for you, freezing some stuff off, and realizing what isn't AS necessary to do, it gets quicker and easier. I always like to compare it to driving a car - at first that is scary, takes a LOT of concentration, and constant thinking, but then you get to a point where you can drive and talk on the phone and probably not even remember how you got to the store. Prepping food for AIP (and later Paleo or whatever you wind up on) is similar - at first it's hard, but then it becomes second nature and you just do it when you find little pockets of time.

    All great tips Michele! I try to limit myself to 1 new recipe a week. I am in the same boat- only mine has a leak at the bottom. Restarting AIP after going waaayyyy off course for months- now in a flare and don't feel like doing anything. But I have to or I will never get better. I share your flat bread recipe every time someone asks for something good in by FB groups.

    Ugh, I’m a SAHM and do all the cooking for our family, including packing hot thermos lunches for my husband and daughter every morning. I already feel burnt out with all the cooking before I even started AIP. A family of 5 eats a lot!! I feel like everything else is just falling to the wayside. To make matters worse my husband comes home in the middle of the night and eats part of my food or when I’m making my smoothies in the morning my daughter wants to drink them and I have a hard time telling them no because I want them to eat healthy too.
    I’ve splurged on Amazon and stocked up on all of the easy processed but AIP compliant snacks like plantain and cassava chips, beef jerky, etc. because I feel like if I don’t have something fast to grab when I don’t feel like cooking I’ll fail.

    I've been following your channel for about a month now, and I find your content to be very helpful and encouraging! Considering doing AIP, but what worries me is the low-carb (and therefore High fat/protein) thing. I understand how helpful it might be, but I've always been on more of a high carb diet, because digesting a bigger amount of fat and animal proteins seems to be a problem, probably because of lack of enzymes, low stomach acid (I have Hashimoto too, not too advanced), slow digestion... The more fat/proteins I eat the less hungry I am for the next meal, and I'm already a bit underweight. Has it ever been a problem for you? And what would be your suggestions? Sorry my question is not really related to this video ;)

    • @MicheleSpring
      @MicheleSpring  3 роки тому +1

      You don't necessarily have to do it low-carb and in fact, I wouldn't really say I do a low-carb version. I mean, yes, it's low-carb compared to a Standard American Diet of cereal, pizza, and pasta for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but I eat plenty of carbs in the form of sweet potatoes, plantains, squashes, cassava/tapicoa, fruit, etc with pretty much every meal. That's just how I feel my best both physically and mentally. So I wouldn't worry about it so much, especially if you're underweight already. Do you take supplemental enzymes to help with the fat/protein digestion?

    • @arthurraulin
      @arthurraulin 3 роки тому +1

      @@MicheleSpring Thanks for your answer :) I don't take enzymes yet but I've been considering it recently, hoping it might make a difference. Waiting for a naturo appointment as I'm not familiar with enzymes, as well as my first endocrino appointment. No medication either so far, but as I'm scared of having my condition getting worse, or ending up with sibo, I might have to surrender to those external helps :)

    • @MicheleSpring
      @MicheleSpring  3 роки тому +1

      @@arthurraulin yeah, but that's the right way to go about it. Esp with the enzymes since a practitioner can determine exactly what type you might need (or if you need them at all). Hope you get some answers soon and feel better!

    Nice video Michele!!! Do you know if AIP helps with alopecia?

    • @MicheleSpring
      @MicheleSpring  3 роки тому +1

      I know of some who have had great results with AIP and alopecia, but as with anything it really depends on the individual and how far your disease has progressed. If anything though it can help prevent your body from further attacking itself, which will help with overall health, prevent further hair loss, and help your immune system do what it's supposed to (fight off viruses and bacteria, etc). So I say it's worth trying no matter what as it's only a few months of your life to see if it can help. And it's only changing your food vs trying some expensive pharmaceutical that might have nasty side effects...

    What's the deal with casava flour tortilla shell recipes????? Arrrgh. This is the second recipe I've tried and I cannot get either one to roll out without sticking to something or falling apart. Followed each recipe to the enth degree. Have several years of from scratch pastry making experience, so not a newby in that regard.

      It's the starch content - it varies so widely via brand and even sometimes within brands. You eventually get the hang of it but sometimes it can be utterly frustrating for sure.
