I hate how that's unironically a feature now. But I love that it's creeping back slowly to the market. Don't get me wrong, the whole touch screen thing is cool, but I'd rather have the option to have a button as well, that I can physically push, you know... In case the stupid screen stops working.
@@Deja117 as far as I'm concerned, the only vehicles that can get away with no buttons are the ones that are actually trying to be as efficient as possible by cutting out as much weight as possible, Which to the best of my knowledge aptera is the only EV doing this, and then I believe it was Volkswagen did that hybrid thing a while ago that they only sold about a hundred of? (I don't know if it was Volkswagen specifically, but it was one of those)
4.2 tonnes means it's not covered by most UK driving licences. If you passed after 1997, a standard class B car licence is limited to 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight, and you'll need to get a class C licence which covers you for up to 7.5 tonnes. Can't see them selling many over here if it ever gets a UK release.
Same here in the Netherlands, Here, its also 3,5 tonnes of total weight. This means if you get a vehicle that is 3,3 tonnes, you can at best take another human and maybe a rucksack but thats about it. The netherlands was looking into extending the weightlimit on drivinglicenses based on EV weight, so I think they were moving it up to 4.2 tonnes. But our DMV (RDW) will likely still require you to get a C-drivers license for a behemoth like this based on its size and capabilities alone.

I am somehow glad, nobody with a regular drivers license will be able to drive this in germany. You will need a truck license for that, with that much weight.
Easy to park? I doubt there are many parking spaces in southern Europe where this thing actually fits between the lines. I‘ve driven a H2 in Switzerland, Italy and Spain and that was already… interesting.
I gotta be honest. At 47 MPGe, the Hummer EV has somehow managed to be less efficient than many gas cars. Heck. My 2015 Focus can get eek out 44 MPG on two lane highways by doing 55 mph and big toeing the accelerator. Just think about that for a minute.

I see a bunch of Ford Rangers where I am in the UK (which are small compared to other American trucks I know) and they're obnoxiously massive with a huge bonnet you can hide the best part of a fully grown averaged height adult, but they still can't fit jack shit in the bed because they're too small. You can't even fit a europallet in them. It's funny. The ones I do see being used by tradespeople almost always have a trailer to actually move things while the bed itself is largely empty. Just get a Transit van.
@@TalesOfWar It's mostly the move to extended cabs that ruined pickups for actual work. Having an extended cab means the hatch can't be more than like 4ft. Thought it was really funny when the Silverado EV was announced with the feature to flip down the rear seats to extend the cab. Or you just make trucks with usable hatches... Ironic how trucks today are like 30% bigger than they were in the 70s yet the hatch is 30% smaller.
It's less of a truck and more of an SUV. It's the Ultimate SUV for doing stuff. The bed's not for doing work, it's for putting all your sandy or muddy crap in and just hosing it out when you're done instead of needing to clean carpet or floor mats. While I do hate that trucks have become useless crew cabs with no beds I hate that people think there's nothing useful between a hatchback and a full long bed that can lay sheets of plywood in.
Over 9000 pounds? You can't even legally drive it in Germany with the normal car driving license. That only allows you to drive cars with a maximum loaded weight of 3.5t (~77000 pounds). You would need an additional truck driving license to drive this one.
It's so funny, that a huge pick up truck feels more cramped inside than a Suzuki Soleo. I understand that these are different types of vehicles, but I can't keep noticing it
I find this is a common theme among a lot of bigger trucks and SUV's. They're not actually all that big inside compared to their massive chonk everywhere else. They're just massive everywhere else because they're so heavy and they need to be able to roll over and not crush you with the roof collapsing. At best they're just a little deeper so you end up feeling lower down than you actually are.
@@TalesOfWar so people worldwide are paying for bigger, less safe cars, that need so much safety they end up being less comfortable? And some manufacturers stopped making sedans and affordable 2 door cars for that? damn
@@furinick The rise of massive SUV's and trucks is because in the US the tax is lower on them, so you can sell a big ass truck for slightly more than a sedan but have a much higher profit margin. They have different efficiency requirements too. The bigger and heavier they are the easier it is to get within the regulations, which is dumb. They need federal level standards and they need to close these silly loopholes. They're also becoming more and more common because car manufacturers just simply aren't making and selling much of anything else. They even make a monster sized Aygo now which is utterly insane. You really have to go out of your way to find something more reasonably sized, or buy second hand from when they weren't all obnoxiously huge. It's like a few years ago when TV makers were saying everyone wants 3D TV's because that's mostly what they buy, ignoring the bit where they made hardly any without the 3D feature so the only thing you can get with a newer panel was 3D, or now with "smart" TV's. You can't really buy a dumb TV any more that's just a good panel with a bunch of HDMI inputs unless you just buy a monitor, which don't come in living room sizes. So they come to conclusion that people really only want smart TV's.
That is actually really impressive! If it were a touch smaller (I don't need that much space), and if it were able to charge a LOT faster (my only complaint with EVs right now), I'd be definitely into it. I LOVE the physical buttons - that alone almost sold me. I think GM learned from the failure that is the new Blazer - they definitely decided to compete with similar competition - although I still see IFS (maybe IRS?).

Yeah, and also that Cybertruck had been destroyed before that from dropping it on those concrete tubes and they know it. Imho this cheap shot was completely unnecessary and instantly tells their bias, and that's a darn shame.
Love you too Alex & Bell lmao XD. thanks for such a hilarious review. There is just something about the Hummers that have always had me grin more so 1, 2 and the Ev... the 3 was way too "Suburbanized" if I had the $ I'd want one in a heartbeat. especially as someone partly disabled being able to adjust ride height would be amazing. but I doubt I'll ever be able to experience such a ride let alone have enough to obtain one myself. still a gal can dream.
So this requires special licensing to operate it, right? It's as heavy as some dump trucks that requires a CDL. If any idiot with money can buy it with no additional skill, well i guess my chances of being run over by one just went up. But hey, cool crab walk feature
In the US, our base license limits you to 26000 pounds, like 12 tonnes, so no this is like 1/3 of the legal limit. You couldn't even max out the legal limit towing the car's maximum.
The kind of person who hates the Hummer just because it's a Hummer is the kind of person who hates everything, including themselves. This thing is AWESOME! Especially for an EV.
To be completely fair, Hummers are descended from Humvees, which are the second most terrifying vehicles I've ever driven on the highway. After a while, you learn to focus on your lane and let everyone else worry about theirs.

@@BroccoliFugitive30in is fine for off road, it’s it’s not rock climbing 🤦🏻♂️
I work at gm where these things are tested and despite doing mostly gas combustion I did get to drive one once, they are so much faster than the video does justice and may be easier to park than a truck or corvette. Super cool to see a product enjoyed for being what it is, so over the top.
You can't safely charge 250kwh battery 🤷🤦
I mean Even a level 2 charger at 7kwh would take close to 36 hours it was not designed for this madness a DC 50kwh charger would take around 6 hours 😳
The charger will be screaming Help 🥵😩
I'm so glad that Alex has become the resident car reviewer. We need MORE car reviews, he's very good at it
Nothing says "I peaked in high school" quite like a Hummer
Yeah, I never got a hummer in high school either. :(
Some kids at the local private high school drive these. Beats a bike, I'd guess.
honestly, massive respect for those physical controls
That's going to be banned in the EU 😂 Holy crap. You can hide 5 families in that front blind spot 😂
Imagine being the team working hard on the sound inside the car and then you find out upper mannagement just slapped an aliexpress soundbar on the back.
Pro tip: 4" residential driveway concrete is rated for 8000lbs of working load, the hummer weighs over 9000 pounds.
I'm no engineer, but over what surface area? Cause you're dispersing that weight across 4 tires, right?
Concrete strength is rated in psi what are you talking about? The 9000lbs would be spread over the 4 tires and then their respective contact patch and from the quick google driveways are typically done in 3000 psi concrete pretty sure this isn't going to sink regardless. Now paved asphalt in a hot climate I could see over time it causing ruts and sinking but not concrete.
and everyone will pay the tax that fixes the roads this mosnter breats!
Would have loved to see this review closer to the Hummer EV's launch and get more traction! Hope you guys continue to explore car media and find success!
I am somehow glad, nobody with a regular drivers license will be able to drive this in germany. You will need a truck license for that, with that much weight.
Sick Edison hat!! I love that company, all the way from Los Angeles
We really don't need weapons like this on public roads.
Even America doesn't allow rocket launchers for self defense. Why should they allow a gigantic child crushing machine for personal transportation?
Good job you don't need to explain why you "need" a vehicle.
But real weapons are ok?
Soy detected
We also don't need nannies telling us what we can drive.
Glad you're having fun with it. A lot of car reviewers take themselves too seriously, which doesn't really work with something like this.
Easy to park? I doubt there are many parking spaces in southern Europe where this thing actually fits between the lines. I‘ve driven a H2 in Switzerland, Italy and Spain and that was already… interesting.
The world: "Buying an EV is an ecologically responsible decision."
Hummer: "Hold my charging cable"
Alex laughing maniacally about how the truck *literally tries to kill you* when doing pulls, WHILE doing pulls, is exactly why we love him.
Alex is so much more comfortable than he used to be. Great video.
I gotta be honest. At 47 MPGe, the Hummer EV has somehow managed to be less efficient than many gas cars. Heck. My 2015 Focus can get eek out 44 MPG on two lane highways by doing 55 mph and big toeing the accelerator. Just think about that for a minute.
is your focus more than 4 tons tho ? dont think so
@@stratos59 No. But ironically, it does have a better sound system.
I’ve never seen Alex so excited before. I love this thing. If I had that much money, I’d buy one. And Gms infotainment systems are one of the best on the market in my experience
He's wearing an "Edison Motors" hat!!!
i love the edison motors hat LOL. im really looking forward to their rigs actually being good
No 230v is missed opportunity.
probably it's illegal to drive it in Europe because of the weight or something, so maybe that's why?
@@vandalpaulius would have to have C category driver's license, but 🇪🇺 is already modifying law to allow heavier EVs to be driven with B category (under 3500kgs).
@@bourne_ I had no idea that law is being changed :O

Keep up the car content I am sure some one at LMG is debating if its worth it. Maybe not now but this series will pop off if you guys keep it up.
Nobody will ever use the bed of this truck for anything serious. The entire thing is just a dong extension for rich folk.
jellin?
I forgot it was a truck halfway through lol
Crabwalk is useful when you end up too close to something on the side, where if you were only to turn the front wheels the rear corner would scrape.
Over 9000 pounds? You can't even legally drive it in Germany with the normal car driving license. That only allows you to drive cars with a maximum loaded weight of 3.5t (~77000 pounds). You would need an additional truck driving license to drive this one.
If it were gas, I'd buy one! Love the look and design.
I'm glad someone recognized the silliness of this vehicle. It's kind of like the opposite of a Lambo. You buy this vehicle to have some fun with it.
I mean... or you can go 0-60 in 3.0 seconds with a similar tow capacity and get a Rivian R1T for >50k USD less. (and likely better tech)
The LTT CarCircuit channel desperately needs a Linus for scale!
Car Big™️
That is actually really impressive! If it were a touch smaller (I don't need that much space), and if it were able to charge a LOT faster (my only complaint with EVs right now), I'd be definitely into it. I LOVE the physical buttons - that alone almost sold me.
I think GM learned from the failure that is the new Blazer - they definitely decided to compete with similar competition - although I still see IFS (maybe IRS?).
so one Hummer Ev or 3 Ioniq 6 N's???? i choose you Hunydai
Are there any dials on the interior?
Could this be used for say independant control of the rear wheels?
Thats a lot of e-waste
I'm very proud of what GM did with the Hummer EV. It is a great addition to what the Hummer brand name stands for.
Moment at 10:40 was planned or just happened at same time that 2 Hummers are on road but from different eras. And jezz, this new Hummer EV is Huge AF for European roads
Love that Boomlift Tech from the early 00´s finally made it to comercial cars.
But jokes aside, this is the only Hummer I´d ever buy.
Can totally imagine Barbie enjoying her time with some friends in a pink one.
But otherwise, seem useless.
Where the heck is your mic?! That thing was incredibly clear even while driving highway speeds with the top off. Damn!
15:18 a toyota land cruiser with a trailer and a boat
I test drove this at the auto show and it's wild how 4 wheel steering feels... It's ridiculous but I also kind of love it.
The Hummer EV is seriously impressive. The crab walk looks cool too
