Great video. Thanks to Pardo for taking the time! I’ve tweaked my list building approach to follow the ideas Rob and co. have talked about in this and the Patreon tactica videos, really enjoying playing a lot more now I’ve got a better idea of what I should be doing, even if I do intentionally take a weaker list. It’s not about bringing a ‘top-tier’ list but knowing what things do and where capabilities are.
My blackshields/DA renegades look so bad, that lore wise it can only be explained with heavy trench warfare. The value thing about the ticket is spot on though. Cheapest flight 340£ plus ticket 250£ plus hotel, food etc that is two months of highschool teacher salary. No amount of fun can balance such a cost. Especialy Not, when you have a wife and kids
Great video, underestimate the Mechanicum lists especially the Myrmidon Cult list. Secutors arent all about shooting and keeping them cheap with Volkite you get for less than most Legion Terminators T5, 3 attacks base with St7 Ap2, Ws4 but Hatred, 4 wounds, 3+5++. If you forget about adding lots of expensive guns on them you can run with 4 Volkite pistol shots and rock hard combat threat (also Ld9 Stubborn....) that can take on anything below top tier combat units and still put out 20 St 5 shots on overwatch at BS5.
@@wintersSEO Cheers (mine is the first one with lots of hidden cheese - people are sleeping on the USR buffs the Arquitor Magestorum brings and no-one forgets their first time on the wrong end of a Karacnos - Shell Shock 3 Massive blast!)
Is it safe to say the Arch Magos is using its battle smith and Cybernetic powers to move boost the Myrmidons either 4 inches or 8 towards the nearest enemy. Huge fan of that strat with bare bones Myrmidons
Cheers for the list review, glad the list came across as proper Sons of Horus 🙂. Just a note on intercepting with a Las squad - Abaddon has Battle Hardened(1) as well, so i'll be able to tank a few wounds on him as well - keeping the FNP alive... Hopefully it will keep a few more Justaerin around him.
Very curious about how the battles went for the Thousand Sons list at the event. My experience is that you take a crapton of wounds yourself from arcana and spells, especially when it's night fight.
@@TheExcessus i think you're right. I could've sworn being sure night fighting doesn't affect psychic checks, but I was probably thinking of the Fear rule. That's dumb. But hey, at least stubborn mitigates this.

Awesome video, this event would be a dream of mine, maybe I'll apply next time! Breaks my heart though not to see any DG players as a DG veteran myself. Accepting one player from each faction would have been nice from a narrative point of view. Last time some of the guys from far east wargaming came with their DG army, right.
@@medheadful actually I liked seeing Pardo, seeing you two collaborating like a proper power couple lol. The cheese metre was great, and the your thoughts on some of the units and how they will perform was good.
@medheadful again, I'm all for it if that's what's intended, but it feels a bit off talking about it being a narrative event then going straight into power levels. Do you feel events now are leaning more to a "take the bigger guns" style? Now of course, these questions are written down for you and the tone might not be what I'm trying to get across. I'm not knocking powerful lists, if that's what people want to do then go for it, there needs to be something for everyone. I think it's a good talking point though about how events are. Not been to many but listen to a lot of heresy podcasts and there seems to be a trend lately of harder lists. Do you think this needs managed better by the event organisers, perhaps making it more clear that "here's your dick kicking event, bring the big toys" and "this is a narrative heavy event, let's tone it down"? I think these are always interesting conversations. Maybe could be worth discussing as part of an episode? Cheers!
@lloydmitchellnineone I love this response. Tell you what I'll do. When I'll get back from No Retreat I'll do an event review and then address your points directly. I've got lots to say on your EXCELLENT POINTS but want to address them properly. Hope that's okay my dude.
Freaking Custodes, Mechanicus and Night Lords + Mechanicus. You know these lists, if you don't you never played in tournaments. Double Tanatars are just busted. The only list who can beat Mechanicus is Custodes, so these two are at the top, while Njght Lords just cheese everyone with thier rules and possible other faction units. But the worst offender is Alpha legion, which can take the best of everything and nuke you turn 2, unless you are White scars and won't give points for infantry and character kills.
Be careful Ezkyle Abaddon also has battle hardened meaning you can tank the lascanons shots on him with 4++/4+ fnp If necessary Thanks for the reviews 😉
heavy support squads are utter filth in this edition. Me and my friend have a gentlemen agreement of no more than 5 in a squad and max of 1 in a list. They are way too powerful when you throw a reaction in or master of signals or any other buffing legion trait
Thanks for Invite ❤ See you next week
Most of my lists are in the "milk" category, they dont even get to cheese. I will never ever become competitive.
Narrative lists goes brrrrr-crash
@@DrippyWaffler That depends on the list you are playing against.
Btw. a narrative list can still be quite cheesy if you want to.
yeah same here. Proper way to play HH

is there a place to see the full lists? Some of the options for units are cut off.

Agreed. Both those Amdech lists look mean. The second one probably has scoring Myrmidons in range of the Callix Thanatar.

Bit late on this, but Night fighting doesn't affect psychic checks luckily
@@AndrewPeverells that's not how I interpret the text on page 200. It says "allows", night fighting forces your leadership down.

Distinct lack of triple Contemptor, triple Scorpius or triple HW squad ...
At that point it's frenchie blue cheese XD

I didn’t think rad grenades affected instead death thresholds
It says in the rule that it specifically does mate.
@awefullgamertj6445 last line of the rad grenades rule makes it clear as day bro. It literally says this DOES affect instant death thresholds.
