Thanks man you gave me hope on fixing the 3 front cameras
used this to teardown and replace usbc port. huge success
Liked, subbed! Awesome to see how my Q3 is built, what failure modes are dominant (glad it was lucky paranoia that I was sooo careful slapping on my fairly reluctant headband). The fragility of those front three "camera capsules" was also not something I had considered yet coming over from my carefree quest 2 cameras. Awesome vid!
Nice and solid. Would be nice your review / reaction to Pico4 disassembly. Video of insides comparison would be very interesting and popular too.
Where can I get the plastic fitting that holds the charging port. The plastic fitting that has the O rings??
This is a really great tear down, thank you. I was thinking to try and make the front lighter by replacing the battery with a very light 200mah 3.87v lion battery. And then run the headset via USB cable on BoboVR strap. Do you think that's feasible or does the headset draw power quicker than it can charge? Thanks!
That’s a great question. I’ve swapped in replacement batteries on the quest 2 and 3, but never tried an alternative model. Of battery. They are packed pretty tight in there, but I am sure it’s possible.
Do you buff out the lenses or just replace them because if you could make a video on how you repair the lense that'd be great!
Yeah, as I asked in the old teardown video. Are it just these screws around the lenses, that hold them in place?
jeeez the amount of work to fix that thing imo people need to buy warranties on these things
Do you guys fix lenses? My right lense has been scratched bad since like the first month I got my q3 but I haven't been able to fix it. How long does it usually take?
You said you’ve repaired almost 50 of quest 3 but most of your videos are quest 2. Wish you have more quest 3 videos.
I think it’s mostly just because I’ve had so many more request for the quest 2 repairs and they’ve been out so much longer. We’ve done hundreds of repairs on the quest 2. If not thousands.
What kind of Quest 3 repair video would you like me to do next?
How long do you think before we get different coloured front covers?(transparent??) Disassembly of it seems fairly straightforward
@@fixmyoculus lovely
The depth sensor shouldn’t pose an issue during disassembly right? Also, I did notice a separate piece besides the camera assembly, what’s that?
@fouzr the Depth sensor and cameras all just unscrew pretty easily. There are some brackets and cables that are adhered to the front plate. I may do a separate video on just disassembly of that whole apparatus.
I have a problem with the AC in my quest 3 how can I replace them please ?
There's probably something stuck in the fan just open the back and spin it that worked for me
@@RayzoVega take the rubber faceplate off and unscrew all the screws that connect to the back
Hey I have a question, my oculus quest 2 left controller disconnects every time I put it a bit behind me (my right doesn’t), this happened shortly after smacking it. I opened it up and my tracking sensors are not ruined and my ribbon cable has no rips. Do you know what could cause this?
Hi, that happened on my Q3 left controller wont connect and right keeps disconnecting. The culprit, 9:29 BT antenna wasn’t connected properly when I disasemble them.
Hi, my quest 3 has a charging issue. Most of the time it wont charge but when it does it wont pass the meta logo. It goes on that meta logo boot loop until it runs out of battery and it gets really hot.
I’d love to take a look at it if you want to send it in. We have a repair request form on our website if you want to request a shipping label.
hello, i wanna ask something, i replace my display to new display and my oculus cant boot, its get bootloop like meta loading disappear and reappear, and before that i got like chip logo with green bar, its has something wrong? i do some adb update, its cant solve that problem too!, i need your help!. Thanksyou
To me this sounds like an indication that one of the cameras or camera ribbons isn’t installed correctly or was damaged.
@@fixmyoculus i try to replace ribbon + camera its wont work too! i have many sparepart here, any solution?
It’s hard to say. Troubleshooting can be a frustrating process. I do think it’s either a camera or ribbon based on the symptoms.
The way the battery is tucked back there behind everything is concerning...
Basically, anyone with a bad battery will 1.Throw the headset away or 2 break something in the disassembly process
@@Muncher_611Oh. I see what you mean. Believe it or not, this is actually a step up from the Quest 2. That battery could only be removed if everything else was removed from the shell. LCD and all!
15:40 - all of this for replace the battery. soo many.
Excellent teardown. Thank you for making this!
