I literally stopped using my zippos because of the fluid evaporating. Learning they got chimneys and o-rings existing out there is slowly capturing my attention. And brass! I’ve fallen in love with brass too. When they make a butane insert that you don’t have to fiddle with and when there’s the “ultimate” best of everything insert, THEN, I’ll probably go back to zippo. In the meantime I’ll be using butane lighters and torches

Any chance you'd consider doing an evaporation test on the zorro fluid inserts vs a regular zippo insert? Fill em both up and without using them see how long the fluid lasts in each.
I was a hydrolic mechanic the boxes of 100 different O rings where about 20 bucks used two Detroit 2 stroke diesels one clockwise one counterclockwise !
I like my Z-plus soft flame. It actually doesn't blow out all that easily. It just looks and feels like a Zippo, you flick the thumb wheel and the flame burns continuously until you close the lid, it just looks and feels like a Zippo without the smell or burning your leg with fluid because you overfilled it when you were in a hurry and butane is just cheaper and easier to get in the UK, you can buy it almost anywhere!
I've had to do the same thing for my double butane insert. Geez I know I didn't respond for a while but I got Plastic butane insert from dollar general and it worked better! (It came out of a plastic "survival" lighter. Good steel cam and everything.) I couldn't refill it, it was single flame and worked like a dream. Just made your zippo feel weightless and that just doesn't feel good. Overall, $6, and even you would get at least 5 days out of it.
#2 probably doesn't have extra gaskets because plastic/rubber is probably already soft enough to have a gasket effect unless it doesn't feel tight. With metal on metal you need a softer gasket to seal better, but soft material can seal against metal by itself.
While ago I bought zippo butane jet insert. And same problem. Second refill and I couldn’t get it to work. I tried flame adjusting and no luck. I ended it throwing it out. Switched to thunderbirds for their jet and soft flames. Love the new soft flame insert. But I have to give it time to see how good it is.

Hi Zippo Fanatic 77, I really like the number 1, because the brass bottom cannot deform, together with the hood on the chimney, this Zorro has no fuel evaporation.

I was looking at the Zippo site to get another today and saw this vid on their site and the Zorro inserts. Price is about the same for the standard and the slim, so I'll probly just get the std and some Zorro inserts and not have to fill it every day and sell the old slim. Don't know if I should send it to Zippo for repairs or sale as is or were to sell it.
I bought also the single torch butane insert from zippo a while ago and it works just fine without any fixing ore modification. Maybe this has something to do with the kind of butane your using. I use the Komet premium butane which costs about 4€ a bottle and after I filled the lighter it lasts me fore about three month.
I once had a old Zippo. I named it Boue. The damn wheel flew off & the flint shot out like a bb/pellet. Now it's just a little storage container. I didn't know you could get new inserts ! Cool video bro !

@@doejon9424 no John unfortunately they are that loose. There’s a reason the 35 hinge Didnt last long on a zippo and they changed to 4 barrel then finally 5 barrel. Watch my 35 replica video I think I wiggle the lid when open to show. But if your sending your zippo in for a free insert. Might as well send that in too says the hinge is very loose. They will tighten it. It’s all free. And u will get a new insert for the 35 as well

He never liked the original one, the one running on lighter fluid -petrol. He called it a G. W. Bush lighter (due to his oil investments). 🙄 😁
I got the 'all steel' insert but I regret it. Turns out you need an extra move to close the chimney cap before closing your zippo lid and that becomes a hassle really easily. I hope I can become used to it.
The thing I don't like about butane is that the batteries run out in the sparker I have four butane lighters I can't use because the sparker went out that's why i like zippo's
2:26 have you tried running MAPP gas in it? It really works. How long is my lighter going to last? I don't know, but it produces a nice short hot flame.

Hi. Hi there. I hVe been working on 2 old lighters and neither have a name on. Theirs is a table lighter that came with a set we bought. I took it apart like shown and the cotton that came out was just in dirty old cotton. And a flint thT is in the spring and a dirty wick. And it is missing the cover for the lighter fluid. I have had A number of men trying to get it to work with no luck. The second one is an old camel lighter with Camel on it. I know it had been my husband's I. A old box that he had. And I can even get it opened up it looks like it will but it is on very tightly. I do get sparks from it. I would love to use both of these if I could have them work. I lost my husband 10 years Go

@@Ohyesverygood I'm pretty darn sure it would melt at the base of the chimney, part of the flame is there. If you choose to blow out the flame yourself instead of slamming the chimney cap over it, a ring around the chimney cap might stand up for some time, but not too long. I am a long-time user of moka pots to make coffee. Both the natural rubber and the silicone gaskets can burn if you use them on a gas stove and if you forget your pot, the handle might be gone, too. Plastic and open flames just don't mix.

How do you have any sort of electronic lighter that works? I've never had that. even pretty expensive pretty nice ones. Doesn't the egnition system fail eventually? doesn't burn up? recently they told me that you're not supposed to leave it on for more than 7 seconds and it's all my fault. how the hell am I going to light a cigar with that. if one would last ; which they don't; how does it light? a battery? an over time even if the parts didnt melt carbon build up is why you have to replace spark plugs an those only last so long cause they are so large.
There is no battery. The downward motion supply the spark. Why they wear out. Zippo fluid is always king of reliability. Lost this channel also if your interested come check out the new one

I use naptha 9 of the 10 times and one liter only costs 1€ and it works fine

Going to combine my Super Oil Tank with the #2 Zorro insert. The oil tank definitely holds fluid in the space you say it doesn't.

I have the Super Tank, it is not lasting a week. If you use your lighter it lasts about 2 or 3 days, just like the zippo insert itself.
Winter in Canada where I used it and I used organic cotton for vapes.

How do you have any sort of electronic lighter that works? I've never had that. even pretty expensive pretty nice ones. Doesn't the egnition system fail eventually? doesn't burn up? recently they told me that you're not supposed to leave it on for more than 7 seconds and it's all my fault. how the hell am I going to light a cigar with that.

There is no battery. The downward motion supply the spark. Why they wear out. Zippo fluid is always king of reliability. Lost this channel also if your interested come check out the new one
