Honestly all are great for me anyway, no issues. I would go with the Zippo Soft flame. Zippo needs a Soft Flame Pipe insert, THAT would be my best insert!
You actually use your stuff, so it is good to know some of the problems that arise from heavy use. I like all of the inserts honestly, I haven't had any issues with any of my inserts, Vector or Zippo, I gave my mom one of the vector pipe inserts and it has been going strong for a long time now, and she kind of uses and abuses her gear, so that is a bit of a testament. Anyway, great vid showing off those inserts, great for someone who only wants the best and don't want to fiddle with them.
Yeah buddy. That’s why I make em. Try to get some info out there. I do have to say the ones that leak still work though , so u can only tell they leak when u leave it to sit. If your using it everyday u will never know it’s leaking because how slow the leak is , u will think u just used it all.
Bought both the zippo yellow flame, and single torch, and you are absolutely right! Super fit, and it works great, not much more money than 3rd party inserts. Thanks for this excellent review.
Yes! I just started looking at the Zippo single torch insert but saw some negative things. Then saw some vids on how to fix the bad things then wondered if I should get it or not. I was wondering if it would fit the few Zippos I have. I have no idea what a "35" or whatever is so when you said the Zippo single torch fits them all, I went ahead and bought one. BTW, not a torch guy either, but I smoke and drive an open air jeep.

I have a Zippo yellow flame and like it. I also have 4 Thunderbirds and have not experienced the problems you have. One went bad and was replaced for free. The others have gone 4 years without filling. I only light them occasionally to see if they need to be refilled I wish the Zippo had a flame adjust.
Nice to see these in action, thank you. I got my dad a zippo case along with the double flame insert for Christmas, he is a cigar smoker and it seemed to be the best for his once or twice a week style use. I also got him the bit safe zippo insert because he will think it's hilarious and he loves gadgety things like that.
I just noticed something, for what it’s worth. I have a Zippo soft flame insert and a Thunderbird soft flame insert. While watching the video, I tried each of them in a classic case. A simple puff blew out the Zippo’s flame, but not that of the Thunderbird. It took a more robust puff to blow it out.
Really enjoyed nerding out to this. Hopefully Zippo will also consider making the single torch, double torch and yellow flame inserts in the same brass/gold flash color like they do for the liquid butane inserts.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors Don't know why they don't already. Right now I'm all about Zippo Arabesque lighters from Japan, which is what brought me to your channel in full insert hunting mode, lol!
@@davidsapir3764 haha nice ! Those Japanese customs are pretty sweet. Well I’ll glad u found the channel I’m always down to answer questions or give opinions or just shoot the breeze !
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors Don't get me wrong, at the end of the day a Zippo's a Zippo, they're all built well and look great at every price point. But the Japanese custom Zippos are next level unbelievable. The Arabesque shell inlay Zippos brightly glisten even in low light as if they're self illuminating. The Arabesque engraved inlays are amazing too but also the Japanese exotic animal leather full wrap Zippos. Just scored two beauties, a brown crocodile leather and a python leather full wrap Zippo. Where to begin on how awesome they are. But chrome inserts don't look good in all of them, so when it has to be brass I go with a brass pipe insert and add a bottom sealing gasket. Those gaskets do a great job of extending fluid life. That's my overall favorite Zippo insert, followed by the double torch and standard insert in brass.
@@davidsapir3764 yeah they do crazy good work over there. That crocodile one sounds dope. I would love python. My edc insert is also a pipe insert but I use the gold flashed ones now. U can buy them separately and also the gold flashed last much longer than the old brass ones they did
hey i recently found you while searching for zippo how-to videos as i just bought my first zippo, i really found your videos helpful and in-depth keep it up man :)
I am not promoting Thunderbird but rather sharing some info. I purchased a Thunderbird butane yellow flame insert back in 2012. It's truly a yellow flame which totally mimics classic Zippo lighter fluid models. After 12 years of use, it still works great, I love it! I had it packed away the last 2 years and after watching your video, I got it out and tried it. It worked first try and the butane level was still full! Thank you for the very nice review on the current butane inserts!
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors Sorry to hear they have bad customer service. Seems to replicate their current products. I do believe they did make quality products at one time as I also have torch inserts from the same era I use as well and with no leaks.
I have a Z-plus Extreme insert that I have used daily for over 3 years. It was very inexpensive, is a dual flame torch and lights ever time. Does not leak.
I just wanted to add something real quick, the thunderbird insert leaks due to bad fitting at the metal thing that holds the lid close, not the spring, all you gota do is file it a bit and you shoukd be good to go, worked for me 👍🏿
I agree that the Zippo insert is of a better quality, but it still has one drawback. Although the smell of gasoline is no longer there, it is butane, you still get that sensation of a pinch in your throat. However, the other inserts do not leave you with that sensation
I'm a cigar smoker, i usually collect and use vintage Dupont lighters. but they are soft flame and in summer i love a smoke outside. i looked at the dupnt jet lighters but don't really like 'em... so what i did was buying a brass zippo online from the 1990's, and fitted it with a single blue flame insert... beautiful combo for lighting a cigar on a windy terras!
I've tried most of these, the Thunderbird and Yusud are the worst inserts, Thunderbird has the cam issue and Yusud has problems sparking after re-flinting it. The Zorro single torch with fill window is alright it won't light up every time though. The Zippo single torch lights up almost everytimes, and same for the Yellow Flame.
And yes I have a yellow they have a classic.Bring On the slim yellow and it's a game changer for the user and New clientele . and I love the weight additional class and construction.
I had already found out that the yellow flame Zippo insert was the only one that fits in a 1935 replica case but I noticed yesterday that it is also the only butane insert that fits in a "table Zippo" (Regular Zippo on a foot) that's because of the room used by the nut at the bottom of the case. I hope this helps...
I really like my zplus extreme 2.0. Its a double torch piezo ignition insert. I dont smoke, but as a maker, engineering student, and casual prepper, i always carry a lighter. I use it daily for cleaning up 3d prints, heatshrink tubing, repairing frayed nylon, even as a handwarmer. It has a transparent fuel tank, and an adjustable flame
I just found out about the inserts for my old zippo for my cigar smoking time. Thank you so much for breaking them down. Now I just have to find them. The zippo site it out.
for the Zorro double torch I only got both colors to fit inside deep carved armors (not regular) or 1941s. The gold version fits good inside brushed brass regular zippo cases (with emblem and vintage edition too) but the silver wouldn't fit inside any regular. plus in one every ten or so the torches won't work and catch the whole lighter on fire. (they are cheap though: $4-5 compared to $16-24 for the zippo one.)
I've had over all good luck with the Ysud. They are a little finicky to get adjusted but the dual flame is well worth it. Soft flame for lighting smokes, jet flame for heat shrink tubing and burning off loose strings. I bought several spares and will stay with them, I have not experienced any leakage (easy to check with another lighter) Key to the Ysud seems to be discharging the fill entirely before re-filling and then not over filling (count of 3). The slick, sloped buttons on the Zippo inserts are unfriendly to use and require that you hold them down to keep a flame. I would buy Zippo if they made a dual flame with a striker wheel.
Loving my single (Zippo) butane insert still, think I grabbed it over a year ago. I've dropped it a couple of times, so the little "thingy" that makes the gas go poof was bent upwards. I gently bent it downwards again and now it fires up 9 out of 10 times :) Also even with premium butane, I'm saving a ton of money NOT using fuel. Yeah I smoke, so I use my lighter many times a day. Zippo inserts also have 2 year warranty, so that's fantastic. The only complaints that I have personally, is that every time I open the lighter, the insert shifts upwards somewhat. It also drags on the casing eventually, so you have to wipe it off to get a smooth opening with a proper Zippo 'ping'. The button also gets used up and feels like it's rusty. Not as smooth as it was as new.
Nice bro ! I’ve had my two single torches (zippo) for three years not one issue with both of them. My mom actually uses the other one now. Love these butane inserts.
zippo also has a great warranty. 12 year old lighter hinge snapped they fixed it and made it better than new. i just got my self 3 more zippos on order... @@Zippofanatic77outdoors
Yall got me converted to a butane lover. Got the zippo softflame in my 360 deep cave necronomicon. I've learned that MOST just need proper care, however, there are some big design flaws with SOME. Seems like the cam is the main issue for them sometimes too. No bad luck with thunderbird for me... YET lol. It's still hard to beat the classic fluid insert tho.
Haha glad your enjoying it. Herd about the trade with old Jamestown. It is nice just to keep in table lighters and leave the house with real zippo fluid though , that’s what I do.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors took some doing, it's a slider lol, had to wrap it in some tape. Works well tho, and I carry it. Not at all windproof but nothing beats the classic there. 🔥💨✌
Good review - Had issues with a Zippo torch insert not filling (after attempts to properly bleed it) - Called Zippo customer service and they replaced it within a week at no charge! 💪
Super you're sharing your experience with these. Have to agree, single torch Zippo insert as far as butane inserts go, yellow flame one cool too. I'm just not not a butane lover.
Yeah anything to help. I agree single torch up there in my books. I don’t leave the house with butane inserts but I like having them in my nice expensive table lighters. I don’t have to manage them can leave them for months or weeks and they work when I need them.
I need to get a 32. The sharp edges on that look amazing to me. My slim of 2 years just died. Went back to my standard I've had since 2011. Switched away from it because my dad sent it to me while in Afghanistan. Don't wanna chance losing it. Was looking into the torch inserts. I'll just stick with regular inserts. I don't mind having a can of fluid at home and a can in my work bag.
Been watching your channel for a little while. I thought I was subscribed but I just fixed that. Anyway, believe it or not, I just happened apon a brand new, unfilled, Zippo double torch lighter on the sidewalk like someone placed it there, just today. The only aerosol butane fluid I have is Neon in the yellow can. Would you trust it to function properly in this insert or not?
Got myself a new Zippo (regular Black Crackle) with an original zippo jet flame insert a couple days ago, to light my fireworks more reliably on New Year's Eve. I like it so far and it works great for me. But what is kinda annoying is how loose the lid closes on those. I already thought it was my Zippo case until I tried it with a normal insert.
Really like my Yusud butane insert. It seems to be holding up just fine after a year of semi-regular use. I flip the lid maybe 20 times while wasting time at work fusing ropes twice a week. My biggest issue is the flint it comes with. Its actual garbage and i had to swap it out with a Zippo brand one. Other than that i havent had any other issues.
To fix the lid wiggle you have to shim the zippo insert up with a piece of plastic cut from a coke bottle. That shim will rise up the insert just enough that the lid will support itself on the square edge of the insert and not on the beveled edge.
You pointed out that, with a Zippo insert, the lid rattles around, which was my experience, as well. It’s amazing to me that they can’t get the size of the chimney area to match the size of the chimney of a liquid-fueled model. When I got my first one and pointed this out to them, their solution was to send the case back so they could squeeze it to fit the insert. That’s just lame; they should make the insert fit the case, not deform the case to fit the insert. It seems so simple, but they just don’t get it.
Not sure if you smoke that sticky icky but if you take a raw tip and fold it horizontally first then vertically second it makes the perfect shim you can jam between the torch insert and the armor case. Just put the paper on the side of the zippo and insert your insert at an angle to keep the paper upright. I use a dynavap for the most part with my butane insert but love the durability and weight of an armor case.
I just a piece of painters tape to shim it. Doesnt leave gunk on the insert and doesnt fall out when I refill. Yeah I’m deep into the sticky icky lol just finished one sat down and read this lol
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors I'm with ya bud when I got out of the military I was hurting real bad, US va wanted to give me narcotics and surgery on my feet, said fuck no started smoking green never went back to brown lol
Thanks for the video. I can confirm that the Thunderbird dual flame lighters leak for me too and are hard to light in any wind. Also, the cam spring doesn't make the satisfying click/snap when you close the lid. It feels mushy. I also have the Zorro single flame with the window. Mine are working great except for the cam spring has binded up in one, and dislodged in the other. When I first got them, they were really tight and would hold closed nicely. On the one that is binded, it now doesn't hold closed quite as well (but it's tolerable). The one with the dislodged spring doesn't work right and the spring has partially come out under the cam. Can you do a video on a cam spring job for these Zorro butane lighters?
Haha yeah bro. Everything that happened to mine happened to yours. That single torch was the last one I had. I gave it away since I posted this video. You would have to drill out the pin in the cam. Replace spring and plastic piece. Don’t know what u would to replace it. I just use zippo ones now.
Before Zippo made them I bought a Z+on Ebay for about 12 bucks. It lasted about 5 years. I bought a Zippo when they came out. It lasted about a year. I am on my second one now that seems to work better. I have a dozen or more Zippos. I love them. What I would like is a gas insert for the slim Zippos.
Yeah Steve single torch is top shelf. Your gonna like the yellow flame when it gets there. But single torch kinda better. Has height adjustment and more wind proof
I don't smoke regularly but I do every 2 days and boy it has lasted a month on a single refill 😂😂😂. The most satisfying part is a Zippo lasting for a month if you know what I mean.
I actually bought a Zorro insert after trying to make my Zippo single torch work and failing for over a year. I tried everything, bleeding the tank, adjusting the regulator, and what felt like 100 other "tips" to make that Zippo insert work and it never did. Also that was my second Zippo insert, the first I bought was a double torch, it also never worked and I thought maybe I just got a lemon. I am now convinced that the Zippo butane inserts are absolute trash. The Zorro (ironically the one I got was the one with the fuel window lol) insert have been working consistently for the past 8 months since I got it and I've had zero issues with it. I really wish my Zippo inserts worked, maybe I just got two lemons since it seems like yours have been working great, but I'm not willing to spend another $30 bucks to buy a third one to test that theory.
Thank you, you saved me time and money not buying a shitty insert and/or one that won't fit properly. Definitely will be picking up a single torch Zippo insert for my cigars.
If you are looking for a soft flame insert that works like OG zippo. The z-plus insert has been working alright for me, it looks like a cheaper copy of the thunderbird but it hasnt started leaking after a year of use. A side not, ive had huge problems with the double flame zippo. i guess its all a coin toss when it comes to lighters

Currently supper annoyed that the spring loading mechanism for the lid on my Colibri broke and it well.. uhm... flops. So I've been thinking a lot about Zippos (they do have that coolness factor, I have to admit), but as I'm a cigar smoker, I need butane, so it doesnt stink up my cigars. Your video was EXACTLY what I needed to convince me to jump on a Zippo. Thinking about the soft flame one. Either way, these inserts are fairly cheap where I live, so just might try the jet flame too. Thank you so much for taking your time to make this video! Great content, sir!
Thanks ! Yeah I personally prefer the double torch for cigars. The yellow flame is a must have too. But !! Make sure u only run high quality butane in them. Zippo or ronson butane is no good. Hopefully u have some colibri butane left over.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors That is the model I was actually pondering. Was looking at both the brushed brass as well as the polished one, it's like you're a mind reader, haha!
los my zippo dual torch at a lake years back, liked it. Been rcoking the butane soft flame insert a good while in a beater zippo for work. Only downside is lack of flame height adjust. But i got used to it, its not shooting as large a flame as when i first got it. The zorrors are alright, had one, but button broke after about a year , dont recommend. The zippo soft flame fits like a glove in my standard zippos, but not so well in the only armor zippo i have. The other armor i have is a slim high polish. (from what i can tell, slims dont have any butane inserts on market)
Yeah put a piece of tape on the insert to fit in the armor. Some company did make a butane insert for slim years and years ago. But they are hard to come by. I think zippo will eventually release one
the zippo brand butane torch inserts have a taller chimney that makes them too big for some alternative cases. it wont fit in my 912 and my 3d printed backup case needed to be heated and deformed a little to fit it. also, the normal liquid zorro inserts also make zippo lids not wobble
I like my Jet Line inserts, not sure if I've used the official Zippo one because I've been using the Jet Lines for years, before Zippo even released one.
I've got the Yusud and I like the nostalgia of using the flint wheel, plus having the option of a soft flame and blue torch in one. Unfortunately, the thing barely fits in my old zippo case. I had to polish the hell out of the insert to get it into the case, then pull it out of there with a pliers when it's time to refill. I had no idea that zippo made different size cases. Thanks for the informative video!
Had problems with my single torch from zippo it just won't light and the flame adjustment is horrible. I've bled it completely and filled it multiple times with zippo butane still nothing consistentin going to try the yellow hopefully it's better

Yeah. I like the sight glass ones better anyways. They do perform better. I hate the all steel zorro double torch. Only fits in armors and 41’s. And is janky as crap.
I'll be the black sheep. Yes, I admit, many thunderbird inserts leak right out of the box. Having said that, my favorite is the vector dual torch/software flame. Been my EDC for a few years and it works great.
Lol I know I complain about it in the video too. Very easy to put out. But ! Someone who works at zippo very reliable source. told me they are working on a wind proof soft flame for next year or the year after. So I’m pretty excited for that.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors soft flame thunderbird style “hands free” with zippo quality and some wind proofing would be a dream come true if they could fix the cam issues
@@Jack958This sounds like something I'd buy, and I'm a fluid user. My guess is that if Zippo is really going to release a windproof soft flame insert, it won't have the chimney design Vector uses for the Thunderbird inserts because it doesn't work well for butane. The chimney with the holes inside was designed for a wick. The holes in the chimney diffuse the wind so it cannot blow out the flame easily, but they also let in some air, which increases the evaporation and provides for a strong flame. Air does not increase the flow of butane from a butane lighter's valve, so the holes in the chimney of the Thunderbird are useless for wind proofing and merely a cosmetic issue. The purpose of the Thunderbird insert is to recreate the Zippo experience. You open it (click), you strike without having to press a button, you can hold the lighter in many ways, while a butane release button confines you to a certain way of holding it, just like a Bic, and the flame goes out with a second click. So far, so good. But there isn't much left of the Zippo experience if you have to cup your hands around it the way you would with a Bic.
I really like the idea behind the thunderbird inserts and imagine it lights 1st strike every time. The one thing I typically dislike about butanes is the unreliable piezoelectric arc and hard button presses. Have you found anything else like it that starts the gas release when the lid opens?
I'd like to know as well, I bought a zippo butane pipe insert and am disappointed by the tiny weak flame, and the button hold makes it feel like its not a zippo, I'm going to order a thunderbird this week, it will get minimal use so hopefully it lasts.
Is they upgraded and perfected the thunderbird inserts they would be far away the best, but of the zippo ones it’s only the yellow flame that’s for me now.
Drove through Bradford, PA not too long ago and I wish I had stopped in to the Case/Zippo museum. Anyway ... Why does Zippo say that the torch inserts aren't compatible with their Armor cases? Also, thanks very much for the video, it is super helpful.
No problem buds. Because the lid doesnt close all the way with them. There’s is a tiny little hair line u can see it it doesnt close. I don’t even notice it still use them in armors anyways lol.
I bought the Thunderbirds and really love them until they start leaking. Big bummer! I'm gonna try the Zippo soft flame because you seem to have more experience than me with the various types of inserts. Question: When you go for a fuel refill, do you adjust the flame all the way to -, then purge all out first? Whats your procedure for refueling? Thanks! Great video btw.
Gosh you are priceless a wealth of information and enthusiasm and passion that really is a genuine honest opinions . be your own gide a fly on wards and upwards JR OZ
From what I can tell, you can’t get the zorro single jet in the all metal casing without the glass window. Only double jet. Maybe they don’t do them anymore?
I'm also only using all the Zippo inserts now, sometimes I'll use the Zorro fluid insert with the lid. I'm still looking forward to a video with the 1932 and 1933 Replicas!
I've used the Vertigo Z-plus! extreme double torch for a year with no issues. Tried to replace it with Zippo's single torch insert to save butane, but the Zippo torch won't stay lit while inverted like vertigo's torch does, so I can't make use of it. I only wish I could get the z-plus insert to fit in a Zippo case instead of a Vertigo one!
Great review! Have you tried the new Thunderbird piezo electric soft flame insert? It apparently has no leaking issues and has an adjustable flame which the Zippo does not. My only concern about buying one is the Thunderbird inserts have a way worse build quality than the Zippo brand. The Zippo is great but the lack of adjustable flame and fuel window is annoying
Hey Brendan. Thanks I appreciate the compliment. Umm this is the first I’m hearing of it but I will never own another Thunderbird product for as long as I live lol. I’ve had such a bad experience with the brand they have left a permanent bad taste in my mouth. Cheap materials to bad customer service they have done it all. I have the yellow flame as an edc and the flame adjustment has never bothered me once. One less thing that can go wrong with it in my opinion. U are right zippo does have that higher quality standards
Thanks been waiting for this question I had in mind. By the way head to head which butane last longer bic or zippo yellow flame. Anyways good stuff S7VN 7 🔥
No probs albatroz. Well a bic is clearly gonna last longer it holds 4x the butane these small inserts hold. Bic is much fatter and taller. But! Using a zippo is much more classy than using a bic lighter. If your gonna carry a lighter might as well be the nicest one u can get. Bic doesnt offer these options lol.
hmmmm, I'm still trying to find that all metal zorro insert for single, especially since i have done Walmart black Zippo into brass. I’ve got the yellow flame Zippo butane insert. They need to put a window in it. I never use it cause I can’t tell if it’s full or not. Can’t hear the fluid go in so who knows lol? I get about 3-4 days about 40-50 lights use out of it before it’s completely empty. Is this normal? I went back to my standard insert. I’m not a fan of these.
My man. Yes that’s all I get out of it. High quality butane will last a little longer. Zippo and ronson are Junk butanes. I only use the yellow flame I. My nice table zippos that don’t leave the house. I don’t use them often so the butane is great for that. Nothing evaporates. Like u when I leave the house I bring my edc fluid insert. Gold plated pipe insert. There is nothing more reliable than fluid. I’m with u on that
@@A-Fern anytime bro ! Yes that yellow flame is built like a tank. If u had every style insert in front of u like I did u would see the superior quality and durability in that particular build. Also a bic lighter holds about 4x more butane than the yellow. With a permanently adjusted smaller flame. Giving that bic a good 2-3 weeks everyday use. So with smaller tank and larger flame the yellow flame insert will only last so long. But !! Being able to keep it in my expensive show off zippos so I don’t have worry about them losing fluid. Sometimes they last months cause I barely use them. This is my fav thing about the butane inserts.
Is there any butane insert that keeps going without pressing the button? If so, is it good? For example, I'm referring to something similar to yusud dual flame One (I need something that does not leak fuel over time when I'm not using it, I don't want to charge it every week, but I'd also like the possibility to keep the flame going without keeping my finger on a button)

its not about the cost, i just simply like a butane insert that stays lit while open. But i dont smoke anymore, so a standard zippo insert sucks because of evaporation and no jet flame. I only now like jet flame because i use it for things like burning paracord or starting a fire
Yeah I really only use the zippo inserts that’s why they high on the list. Zorro double does fit a 41 replica with no issues. Because the square sides on a 41. Armor gets tight. I can’t fit one into any of my regular zippos
@@carscigarsscotchnwatches5158 lol I know right. Yeah only the 41 though. I also don’t like how small the flame adjuster is on the zorro. The zippo ones at least I can use my fingernail
Zorro single torch with site window is the best butane insert u can get. Fits in every style of zippo. U can see the fluid. They are cheap. And just as reliable. Buy at least 2 though. Incase one breaks u have extra parts.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors I won't be buying two 🤣. If the one I get doesn't work then I'll return for a refund. Thanks for the info though. I have the single torch Zippo one and had plenty of problems with it. I've also just ordered the double torch Zorro butane insert. I've been meaning to check; I have normal Zippos and sadly if left outside of a Zippo case, they lose fluid over time and it kind of means swapping and changing inserts can cause Zippo fluid to be wasted. This is the only real issue I have with them. But does the same thing happen with Butane Inserts? As in if I just use them as the insert with no case, does Butane seep out? I keep mine in a Zippo gift box but still wanted to check.
I just got my yellow flame zippo today. What was thw issue that you had? Im having a weird issue where it sometimes only opens half way with the lid preventing it from having a snappy opening and making the ping.
What’s your best butane insert ?
I dont have one

Yellow flame

I got first zippo 4 years ago (H 18), but stumbling across your channel a month or two ago, I've learned so much I didn't know before. Thank you.
Any time buds. Thanks for dropping a comment.
Bought both the zippo yellow flame, and single torch, and you are absolutely right! Super fit, and it works great, not much more money than 3rd party inserts. Thanks for this excellent review.
Great to hear! Glad your enjoying them !
This is the perfect video for anyone wondering about all of the inserts. Thanks man!
No problem bro ! Glad to help

Love your reviews on everything Zippo. Very informative and super helpful!
Glad you like them!
Very nice of u.
Could not have asked for a better review. Thank you very much.
Thanks appreciate it ! I tried to give as much info as I could
I just noticed something, for what it’s worth. I have a Zippo soft flame insert and a Thunderbird soft flame insert. While watching the video, I tried each of them in a classic case. A simple puff blew out the Zippo’s flame, but not that of the Thunderbird. It took a more robust puff to blow it out.
thanks for the review my single torch zippo has been holding up well, no issues as long as it is warm
Thanks for sharing
Really enjoyed nerding out to this. Hopefully Zippo will also consider making the single torch, double torch and yellow flame inserts in the same brass/gold flash color like they do for the liquid butane inserts.
Thanks David ! Lol yeah nerds for sure. I would love for them to do gold plated and rose gold inserts also
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors Don't know why they don't already.

Good to know 12 years ago thunderbird used to make a quality product. Now it’s complete shit and all 4 I’ve had breaks and leaks.
Plus they have garbage customer service that I’ve also dealt with.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors Sorry to hear they have bad customer service. Seems to replicate their current products. I do believe they did make quality products at one time as I also have torch inserts from the same era I use as well and with no leaks.
@@bradysassone5840 yeah i got the vector torch too. Had to stop using it when it shot a flame ball out the side of it.
I have a Z-plus Extreme insert that I have used daily for over 3 years. It was very inexpensive, is a dual flame torch and lights ever time. Does not leak.
Thunderbird doesn't require you to hold the button to maintain a flame. The button gets hot after a while if you need a constant flame for something.
I just wanted to add something real quick, the thunderbird insert leaks due to bad fitting at the metal thing that holds the lid close, not the spring, all you gota do is file it a bit and you shoukd be good to go, worked for me 👍🏿
Yeah I don’t even have thunderbirds anymore after the way they treated me
I agree that the Zippo insert is of a better quality, but it still has one drawback. Although the smell of gasoline is no longer there, it is butane, you still get that sensation of a pinch in your throat. However, the other inserts do not leave you with that sensation
Yeah all made in China unfortunately
I'm a cigar smoker, i usually collect and use vintage Dupont lighters. but they are soft flame and in summer i love a smoke outside. i looked at the dupnt jet lighters but don't really like 'em... so what i did was buying a brass zippo online from the 1990's, and fitted it with a single blue flame insert... beautiful combo for lighting a cigar on a windy terras!
Yeah I love the torches for outside. Very wind resistant
I've got that same Invicta Pro Diver. 15 years old and still runs great.
Lol nice man ! Yeah I love that watch. Wore it for 3 years straight held up great and works like a charm
Yeah I agree. Thanks for the feed back !
And yes I have a yellow they have a classic.Bring On the slim yellow and it's a game changer for the user and New clientele . and I love the weight additional class and construction.
Yeah I absolutely love them. Use ore than one actually lol
Thanks for the great work man, you really saved me from the thunderbird ones :)

Yeah yellow flame rocks
I really like my zplus extreme 2.0. Its a double torch piezo ignition insert. I dont smoke, but as a maker, engineering student, and casual prepper, i always carry a lighter. I use it daily for cleaning up 3d prints, heatshrink tubing, repairing frayed nylon, even as a handwarmer. It has a transparent fuel tank, and an adjustable flame
At least your using a zippo lol
I just found out about the inserts for my old zippo for my cigar smoking time. Thank you so much for breaking them down. Now I just have to find them. The zippo site it out.
EBay
Got mine on Amazon. The single torch is great for cigars. Looking to try out the yellow flame next.
for the Zorro double torch I only got both colors to fit inside deep carved armors (not regular) or 1941s.
Also that sounds like a sick and slick combo for that armor
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors took some doing, it's a slider lol, had to wrap it in some tape. Works well tho, and I carry it. Not at all windproof but nothing beats the classic there. 🔥💨✌

Same here!
Yeah people in the comments say neon is good.
Yes I know very annoying. U should get a zorro insert then. They have a rounded edge. The lid is so tight and has no wiggle room.
I know right, you would think the official Zippo brand inserts would fit properly since Zippo designed both the insert and the lighter, weird.

Glad the zorro works for u

, dont recommend.
Yeah I mention that in a lot of videos
I like my Jet Line inserts, not sure if I've used the official Zippo one because I've been using the Jet Lines for years, before Zippo even released one.

I've got the Yusud and I like the nostalgia of using the flint wheel, plus having the option of a soft flame and blue torch in one. Unfortunately, the thing barely fits in my old zippo case. I had to polish the hell out of the insert to get it into the case, then pull it out of there with a pliers when it's time to refill. I had no idea that zippo made different size cases. Thanks for the informative video!

I'll be the black sheep. Yes, I admit, many thunderbird inserts leak right out of the box. Having said that, my favorite is the vector dual torch/software flame. Been my EDC for a few years and it works great.
Havent actually had that one. But one day I may
For the yellow flame one, I think it can mod like the Thunderbird shroud to make it more windproof. I got one but it blowout by my breath so easily.
Planning to buy zorro single jet for melting paracord hope everything works well.
It should. I think youll enjoy it
Is they upgraded and perfected the thunderbird inserts they would be far away the best, but of the zippo ones it’s only the yellow flame that’s for me now.
I honestly don’t purge I just refill.

Thanks Jason ! I work hard on these videos and a lot of thought gets put into them. I appreciate it
From what I can tell, you can’t get the zorro single jet in the all metal casing without the glass window. Only double jet. Maybe they don’t do them anymore?
I like the single jet with sight glass. Fits in any zippo correctly. That all metal. Only fits in armors and 41’s. Thanks
Much needed video
Thanks !
Got my friend an armored brass and double jet butane and the lid doesnt close properly
That sucks. Mine doesnt either. Fits in the 41 replica though.
I'm also only using all the Zippo inserts now, sometimes I'll use the Zorro fluid insert with the lid.
I'm still looking forward to a video with the 1932 and 1933 Replicas!
Nice. Ryan my guy I need your return adress. I do not have it.

I'm planning to use it as my EDC Zippo (non smoker but i deal with Paracord and repairs on the go that need hot glue) that's getting a mix of decal(Eddie the Head), polished and shipwreck patina. however I'm still using my single torch Zippo insert, especially since I'm used to it since 2019. BTW that tape hack, thank you, needed it for my candy apple red Zippo
Thanks arthron. Yeah black gold is just sexy together. Glad the tape is helping !
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors BTW, where would you find the full metal Zoro single jet insert in brass, all I'm seeing is the sight glass one.
@@ArthronOfFir3 honestly I ordered all these 2 years or longer ago I havent looked since. I just remember seeing it but getting the double because I thought it was cooler. U might have to check a few more AliExpress’s stores or they just don’t make it anymore
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors welp, looks like I'll probably use the double for a pirate themed Zippo lighter, especially since I'm forming a pirate metal band in Florida. let's just say shipwrecked patina and some engraving and decals.
@@ArthronOfFir3 really !! That’s pretty cool actually. Who is making the pirate themed zippo for u ?
Hey @zippofanatic77outdoor recently got a butane lighter from a passed relative, while its not a zippo im wondering where to get it fixed(its a lid baised valve) i swear it almost blew up in my hand cuz it leaks and i was stupid enought to light indoors while it was hissing
Any updates with the Thunderbird issues? Design upgrades? Its been 2 yrs
Havent used any thunderbird inserts.
thanks for this and many other videos, does the zorro double flame insert only fit into specific zorro cases as well? or they are all interchangeable
Watch the video I put them in every type of zippo in the video lol
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors yea man i watched the whole thing but those are zippo cases, it only fits the 41 ad armor. i guess my question is will it fit the zorro 902 or 902s or i need to go up to 912
@@623baller oh lol they might. Some do some don’t
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors ah ok , final question for you my man, are the double torch window ones junk too like the singles? i can find the double torch window ones with a 902 case for cheap but i cant get any of the seller to tell me if the double torch without window will fit into the 902 case
I have always used an empty sugar packet on loose insert to make it fit right
Clever !
Hello. I have the high polish brass 169 armor case and i just got the double torch butane insert and it wont fit well in my case. It doesnt close like it would supposed to. It seems that the lid is too short to fit the top of the torch butane insert. Any ideas ? Zippo says it fits in armors
Yeah I have the same problem with mine. Watch the video u can see my kid doesnt close all the way. I Didnt even notice it.
Is there anything like the Thunderbird pipe insert? One that stays lit? Considering a Thunderbird blew up in your hand among the other flaws, I'd say an alternative is in order
Haha yeah man I hate those Thunderbird inserts. I just use regular butane inserts for my pipe and bong.
Check out this video ua-cam.com/video/F0-kuPGXklU/v-deo.html
I’ve heard the zippo torch lighters overheat very quickly like 10 seconds quickly. Is this true in your experience?
I only lite smokes and joints with them they never over heat doing that lol
I’m with u on that
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors thanks for clarifying brother. I thought I may have got a dud or something.
Hi, what's the brand of the dual flame? Where can I buy it? Thanks a lot for your knowledge and the video.
Yudus on Amazon I believe. It’s terrible but get it if u want it lol
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors thank you!
Is there any butane insert that keeps going without pressing the button? If so, is it good? For example, I'm referring to something similar to yusud dual flame One (I need something that does not leak fuel over time when I'm not using it, I don't want to charge it every week, but I'd also like the possibility to keep the flame going without keeping my finger on a button)
where do i get the zorro butane??
Aliexpress
The Zippo single torch did not fit my Armor case for some reason, the lid won't close all the way. I made sure the hinge and everything is good.
Weird both the ones I got mine. It’s double torch for me that doesnt fit the armor
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors Yeah I was really bummed out bc I loved the look of the Armor I got. It's the Zippo 62TIBK-RIP with a titanium coating. Some say to file down the bottom of the insert but I don't wanna do all that.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors In all fairness, on the Zippo official website, it claims that both the single and double tourch insert does not fit Armor.
If the soft flame insert I've bought doesn't fit into the armor case then I'll do that tape trick. I can't find any zippo brand butane but will any butane work with the soft flame insert?
Yeah buddy any butane is good for the soft flame. Torch requires better butane
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors I want to ask I the soft flame insert arrived but it's only actually lights 1 out of 10 times. Do you know what can fix this and even changing the flint the wheel won't budge either
its not about the cost, i just simply like a butane insert that stays lit while open. But i dont smoke anymore, so a standard zippo insert sucks because of evaporation and no jet flame. I only now like jet flame because i use it for things like burning paracord or starting a fire
Zippo is the best fit and works perfect. Zorro double is second but is a tight fit.
Yeah I really only use the zippo inserts that’s why they high on the list. Zorro double does fit a 41 replica with no issues. Because the square sides on a 41. Armor gets tight. I can’t fit one into any of my regular zippos
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors Good to know on the replicas. Kinda pissed me off that I can't close the zippo all the way. It's also a pita to remove.
@@carscigarsscotchnwatches5158 lol I know right. Yeah only the 41 though. I also don’t like how small the flame adjuster is on the zorro. The zippo ones at least I can use my fingernail
Can you just clarify which you say is the better Zorro Butane option? You point to the double torch one but describe it as if it is the single.
