I have my uncles zippo, it's a polished chrome made in 1989. Heavily used and has some good wear on it. With the help of your videos I realigned the hinge and fixed the worn cam spring. It now functions as well as the day it's bought. He isn't around anymore but I'm glad I have the zippo as a memory. He probably lit over 200.000 cigarettes with it in in the 35 years he had it 😅
Black crackle and brushed brass for me, honestly I’ve found myself packing the 41 replica most of the time, it’s very close to my favorite model. Love all models tho
The first zippo should be the first one you like.. I'drecommend one you don't mind losing, breaking, or destroying the value of, cause yer gonna wanna toy with it lol. I try my best to love all zippos, but my favorites seem to always be brass. It's more because of the feel of tarnished brass for an edc, I love it. Polished brass is always number one for me now. Matte red and black are tied for second, the matte paint finishes are durable, matte have everything it takes to be number one even in their worst of days, but the black matte is impossible to find in the dark... IMPOSSIBLE LOL 3rd is classic chrome, great finish, great for beaters, nice wear patterns for edc's, if yer a nerd like me and prefer chromes to be used. 20+ years at least lol. After that, anything can catch my eye every single day differently than the day before. I can't pick a favorite sometimes, which is why my carry rotation is insanely huge. More comments to bump the algorithm if I can, ignore the long posts and randomness lol
I think brass is my go to finish. It is simple, and the material is its finish. It is also very replaceable, so of you loose it, it sucks, but you can get a new one. I like the idea of a crackle finish if dexterity is an issue, but the one I tried I ended up returning because I didn't like the feel (I purchased it off of Amazon.) Kind of want a Silver, but it would be too easy to carry everyday. My plan is to get one for my 50th birthday. [Hopefully with my year and month.] $40.00 for an Armor with my name engraved on it, seems to be ideal for EDC use. $400.00, is too expensive to be walking around with everyday at least for my budget.
@Comrade T MAN, I had only 1941 Brass replicas, because i love how they look, but after a while the lid dont close how it should, its like 1 millimeter offset. Its because of the 4 barrel hinge? Now im thinking buying an Armor Brass one, thinking they are stronger, having 5 barrel hinge. Do they have the same deep wonderful sound as 1941's?
I don’t know if it’s the 4 barrel hinge but I have noticed 2 of my 1941 replicas do have the offset you are talking about. Strangely, my black crackle 1941 replica has been my EDC for 4 years and hasn’t developed the offset. I’m not suggesting it’s the finish, just that it might not happen to all 4 barrel. My second favorite are my armor zippos. I’ve read the heavier case’s without a reinforced hinge might result in the hinge breaking faster, but in the 10+ years I’ve carried an armor and used it for tricks, I haven’t found that to be the case. Keep collecting and don’t settle for “The best”. Just find your favorite.
I'm SOOOO confused. I have to keep rechecking my math over and over and over until I figure this out. Zippo costs X. 1 troy oz. .999 Fine Silver costs Y. Sliver Zippo costs X3 x Y3... I think I need another piece of paper.
@@comradetman3784 fun thing is that when you look at the catagory nature/hunting is Always a camo 😅😅 the worst color ever. Hate when buying outdoor products in general and they are all camo.. orange is a favorite color
I think High polish finishing is the best looking until I started touching it. I am only using 2 Zippo nowadays, one is a black crackle and the other is a pure white glowing in the dark. Both of which don't care about my oily fingerprints at all. I hope somehow somewhere you are reading this, T MAN.
Let me know what finishes you guys like on zippos !

I own a commerative 75th. anniversary edition brass Zippo and love it. You need to be a marketing manager for Zippo, you know a lot about the company.
That’s awesome !
Am i the only one who loves to see the scratches on a zippo !
Me too, especially on high polish chrome. The scratches was different of the street chrome finish. The HPS still shiny
