    I’ve carried a zippo every day since 1987. The best way to have the wick is about halfway up the chimney, and frayed.
    Never had one fail to light or need to be adjusted or replaced in all those years if it had so much as fumes in it. Set it and run it. My current edc is from ‘09, and it gets struck 30-35 times a day, and the wick is exactly as it was the day I got it and filled it for the first time.

      I have my wick level with the chimney. I like my big flame :)
      Halfway up wick like you have though will be more fuel efficient.

      Damn guys, you are putting your wick so high. Mine is like 1/3 up because the fuel evaporates like crazy and it starts burning when its high

    I do basically the same thing but I get rid of the felt and use more cotton the felt is supposed to be a seal to keep lighter fluid in but because your using the plastic bag you don’t need the felt and you can put more fluid in with more cotton

      Thanks! It provides the wick 100% coverage of the cotton so that when your fluid is low, it can wick up every last drop. Sure it will still work with a stub of a wick, but won't be as powerful of a flame and can be blown out easily.

    For the spare flint: (keeping it under the felt for too long *_WILL_* dissolve it!)
    - Remove the flint-spring-screw
    - Pull the little brass looking flint stopper thingy OFF the end of the spring
    - Put TWO flints inside the flint pipe
    - Re-insert the flint-spring-screw
    You're welcome 🤘🏻😎

    Good video for sure, but i want to say the rayon that comes with zippos is just fine. I unroll and fluff it out, then repack the new insert. Havent noticed any difference in fuel capacity (by weight) nor any difference in fuel economy..
    But, if youre repacking an old zippo (or any oil lighter really), cotton bacon works very well

    • @TeddyBoy7796
      @TeddyBoy7796 Рік тому +1

      I’m just about to order a new zippo and was interested to see this cotton bacon, I’ve never heard of it, I think like you’ll I’ll just stick with the rayon, taking it out and fluffing it up is a great idea, I’ll definitely be doing that, cheers for the tip 👍🏻

    • @LucMcPhail
      @LucMcPhail Рік тому

      @@TeddyBoy7796 cotton bacon is used for wicking in vapes, its one of the best wicking materials out there for it tbh.
      The biggest thing ive noticed is in a zippo insert, it doesnt make a huge difference. Instead, you want to try and make whatever wicking/absorbing material you have as fluffy and pourous as possible. The more cotton/rayon you have in there, the less fuel that will fit.
      With repacking the rayon inside my zorro insert, using the lighter thru the day, ill get about 8-10 days before refueling. I drive a truck, im constantly changing elevation and temperatures so i wont complaint about the life span, especially since an out of the box zippo would give me 5 days tops

    I watched this video like more than 10 times while waiting for my Armor Polished Brass Zippo. it is name engraved too. Maybe I regret a little doing that as maybe if I polish it the name wont look good lol.
    Finally I did it, it lights up very smoothly. Altho My lid is kinda loose compared to my other Zippo and it's brand new, that makes me a little upset...also there is a lid gap...sigh... I searched the internet and it seems loose lid is normal...it depends on your luck...sometimes your new zippo is tight and sometimes it's loose..
    I use a knife to instead of the 2 plastic strips...more confident to do it that way, much like how zippo fanatic 77 did it. But all other aspects I follow your way. Very smooth light, haha...cotton bacon is magic! or maybe cause it is newly filled? idk.

      Regular Zippos leak vapour from the hinges so Its always a good idea to store a zippo wrapped in a small plastic bag. This stops vapour evaporation. A zippo will normally last a few days without wrapping but if you wrap in a plastic bag it can last over a month.

    Does anybody cut down the felt to fit more cotton in?

      I know some people just don't put the felt in at all to allow for more room for cotton and fluid. Probably could get an extra day of use. I personally like the felt and it just doesn't seem like a Zippo insert without it.

    Zippo flints suck,If you want a better quality flint. Get a full size disposable lighter and take the flint out of it and use it in your Zippo.
    It is a harder, longer lasting and better sparking flint.normally you will have to cut the flint in half...
    Another thing you can do is use Coleman camping fuel in your Zippo lighter.burns the same as lighter fluid and is a heck of a lot cheaper.a gallon of it runs under 20.00 bucks...
