They dont want to make a "bullet proof" zippo becouse they would sell less, you ruin it, you buy a new one, its marketing.

Where did you get bag or what kind of material is the bag so I can make one?

Silver is softer than brass...it's not hard to stamp....they buff to the max 💪

Just replaced the original packing with Cotton Bacon Prime and it does seem to absorb more fluid. I figure one bag should do at least 5 lighters. Couldn't find it anywhere in the Toronto area. Thankfully someone in the family knew a guy in Quebec that sold it. Ordering online isn't cheap.

here on my first day of ownership of my zippo, fck me edit : at first I thought it was not working, took me 2hours to make it work but definitely worth it. Worked it out thanks to a random guy on reddit saying that if the gap was due to the lid being too tight (opposite of your case), making the case impossible to fully close, you had to follow the same process but in the opposite directions : 1-3-5 downard and 2-4 upwards You really have to give all your strength with control, in the direction and sens that follows the zippo up or downward. not towards the centre (not perpendicular to the zippo). Really in a parrallel motion to the zippo. Each time give a little more strength if you see its not working, just to make sure not to over do it and break everything. And finally, personal point of view but I prefer doing it wih the insert, feels more solid and doesnt feel like imma break it. Hope it helps, excuse my poor english.

Everybody drops their Zippo or Zorro because they're generally very slippery! Little bits of skater tape will help your grip immensely where are you grasp it!

a simple piece of plastic (sandwich bag) under the fluid holder before sliding it in. Wouldn't know how to insulate better. Evaporation through the wick remains though.

I use welders felt - lasts about 3 years before I need to clean.

I bought one of these to EDC for a new zippo I got in, however the thing get stuck unless I break out a couple of flathead screwdrivers to pry it out. What year inserts are you using? I have two dated for 2022 and 2024 and they both have the same problems. Cheers.

When you make this solution it doesn't matter what is the cathode or anode, I always use the same size of nickel strips - but it does matter when you start plating with this solution. The salt doesn't do anything, it's just used to make the water electrically more conductive. And wear safety goggles, you don't want the plating solution in your eyes or face!

The wiggle on the purple one is because you didn't pul the cover all the way back , that movement is present in any zippo in that angel of opening of the cover.

My comment is a bit dated. My mother worked at Zippo during World War II at their original factory in Bradford, PA. She helped make those black matte finished Zippo lighters for the U.S. Army.

I've had an opposite experience. Ronsonol seems to burn better and longer in my 2023 street chrome and I don't really notice a foul taste. The only time I can smell the fluid is if I leave the case open without lighting. Not to discredit what you have said, just stating my experience. Love your videos, brother

Hey Zippo Fanatic 77, I bought that same Zorro insert with the metal bottom seal, and am wondering if you could make a rewicking video for it. I am having trouble feeding regular size wick through it. Not sure if you still make videos, but it would be greatly appreciated

I have to say that you are wrong, there is no pinch point even if the wick is at 90 degree or more. In physics there is something called capillarity that allows the flow of the fluel. Also, more cotton, more absorption, more lasting zippo. Try to spill a 500 ml of water and clean that with a napkin, now try to clean that with two napkins. Less cotton, less fuel available.

and the point you made is very true about naphtha being basically the same no matter who you get it from. milk companies fill the more expensive cartons from the same spigot for cheaper milk. it really doesn’t matter who you get it from

ronsonol seems to burn a lot less clean than zippo fuel. i have 2 identical zippos and one had ronsonol and the other had the zippo brand fuel. ronsonol gave off black smoke, but the other doesn’t somehow. ronsonol also clogged my zippo hand warmer and now doesn’t light anymore
