I recently got the zippo double torch.
It Had EXCEPTIONAL issues with air in it when I first got it. Had confused the issues to be the single torch kind so turned it up past the stopper. And then had a huge flame that got stuck on somehow but eventually dimmed out. Was quite the experience.
Now I do have the stopper set to stop at lowest point where it'd light after a fill up and I can go up from there if I want. Also have it bled out properly so no more issues with air. Also good to know to not use last bit of butane before refill- Thanks!
Lately I've had an issue with my double torch Zorro insert that I use in my 1941 replica (unfortunately, it won't fit my recently bought '96 solid brass) - it stopped lighting. I started with this video and searched a hundred more, read topics on cigar enthusiasts' forums... And still nothing worked. I have refilled it, bled it, like ten times. I could see the spark, I could hear and smell the butane coming out of jets. I also found a tip about pushing the sparking wire TOWARDS the gas outlets... it also didn't work.
Then, the next day, just before going to the lighter repair place (the only one in the country, I believe) I managed to find the solution - I had to push the sparking wire a tiny bit AWAY from the gas outlets, so it would generate a larger spark. Works like magic.

Had this exact issue with my new butane zippo insert. For a sec thought I bought a bad insert but went to UA-cam first before I said anything. And sure enough i bled a lot of air out. Thanks for the video.
I've recently acquired the single flame version and it's been working perfectly for almost 2 weeks and gets used multiple times a day. I fill it with premium Colibri butane so that might help. Thanks for the informative video.

Had to do this very fix on my dual flame zippo. After the fix my dual flame works perfectly, now. 😏
I decided to refresh the butane in my double torch before I went on vacation for the 4th and knew I’d be lighting fireworks with it. Before I completely purged it I had it turned all the way up and was getting a OK sized flame at best soon as I purged it and filled it back up waited an hour or so then lit it and it shot a good 3 inch flame out now it’s turned down to about halfway.
Thanks man. At first the ignition wire was bent too far away so i pushed it in a little so the arc went to the inside. And couldnt figure out why it still wasnt working.
By the way, my dad was born in Canada, and I have two brothers and a sister that are Canucks. God bless Canada and the USA!

The problem I usually have with these is not with the gas part, but actually with the piezo ignition system. If it gets damaged at all, it always ends up jumping to the top, instead of where it’s supposed to. Perhaps a dab of silicone would help. Though understand the purpose of these, I would much rather use a Ronson jetlite.
@@ZippoFanatic77 I agree. The only time in which I prefer a torch lighter is when I am not using my petrol lighters for a while. Then there’s no point in wasting fluid.
Great videos bro. I have been trying to figure out how to know when the butane insert is full when filling it. How many times/for how long should I pump butane and how do I know when shes full?

I dunno what your talking about the single flame issue. Ive used it straight from the factory for over a year constantly refilling daily and only issue ive had is the jet clogging from the crap butane i put in it.. but a little acetone and a pokey something and cleans it right out. The double one i had issues with the igniter on it sparking to the body. I used a piece of mylar from an old hairdrier to insulate it and has worked fine since.. ive also never bled either. Dunno about air getting in em.. and i run em till they die everytime..
I went through loads of troubleshooting on my brand new single jet zippo, filled it with zippo brand butane fuel. Still didnt work, removed the limiter, then turns out the arc splint was to high. So it atced to the outside off the lighter. After pushing it down so it arcs from the nossle it works perfect!

I looked up the density of butane, it is “heavier” than air. So I’m thinking that maybe filling it will be better if, 1) purge air holding the insert upside down, as usual (air is less dense and will escape from the top), but then 2) while still holding the insert upside down, also press the button for a few seconds as you begin filling.
Maybe as the butane begins flowing in, allowing some gas (both butane and air) to be forced out of the lighter jet, might enable a more complete fill?
My butane insert does not arrive until tomorrow, so I have to wait until I can try it.
Would topping it off daily be a good idea if you use it a ton? I mean you can't like refill it too often and cause problems right?

fold a piece of paper several times or more to create a small lift for the zippo insert to get the zorro effect on the lip
This does work great to reduce lid play but use a small paperclip in the bottom instead. Then you will always have a tool to adjust the flame on the go!

How many lights on one butane change?
My butane insert will not run upside down. It seems to work ok right side up.
But if you put an o ring around that fill valve the gas wont spit out when its full.. it wont leak around it either when filling.. i use a little o ring from old grill lighters or something.. if you take apart a regular lighter they got tiny o rings in em..
You didn't explain how to bleed it and refill it properly :(
I bought 4 Zippo butane inserts. 2 one torch and 2 doubles. Both my singles work brilliantly. Both my doubles light properly but then do not and cannot maintain flame.
I love regular Zippo and haven't thought about having Zippo butane

I got the single torch insert, and have been using Zippo brand butane since i got it 1 month ago. The last few days it REALLY started acting up, and i suspect it happened because i filled it up with even more butane after i bled the tank... Today i FULLY purged the tank before disassembling and reassembled the insert (following the instructions on "The Snake Pit" channel). When i was finished, i filled it up just half full, thinking it was enough that i could hear if the gas was coming out the nozzle. It did, and when i tried lighting it up, it actually worked like it used to for the first month - up until a few days ago when i started listening to advice about bleeding to release pressure, to allow for more liquid gas inside the tank... Im NOT saying there is anything wrong with bleeding - but from now on, im going to be careful trying to avoid OVERFILLING this insert 😏
I have looked at many different youtube videos about fixing zippo gas lighter inserts and did what they said for adjustments etc and none of that worked so I actually had to get off my lazy butt and troubleshoot the issue myself. Problem lighter will not light. Info: gas insert is full, air is bled out, Can see a spark and hear gas release when attempting to light. FIX ....Gently push electrode down towards the gas release opening with fingernail or toothpick and retry lighting, repeat until fixed..
Can you bleed it by pressing the filling tube untill it stops pushing air out?
I've had no problems actually with the single torch, but that is probably because I can't really use it to smoke. I did have problems with 2 Yellow Flames, I had them all replaced and I'm on my third. It is best to just call the number on the warranty if it just cannot be fixed.
My double torch zippo insert after 5 seconds of lighting a cigar starts stuttering then doesn't light until I play with + - adjustment

I had trouble with the Zippo butane insert single flame when I was at higher altitudes in Colorado at 8,000 feet.
The flame would light for a second and go out, even after refill.
Do you know anything about this or of a fix?
A guy in the smoke shop there said that all torch lighters work badly at high elevations.

even with bleeding the single torch one it doesn’t want to fill any time i try the fluid sprays everywhere is there a fix for that

Hey Im just getting into lighters and Butane torches. I just had a quick question if you were able to point me in the right direction of getting a case for the Butane insert, I was able to find the zippo lighters and all its parts relatively fast but no matter what I search up I only find butane inserts and no cases for said butane inserts. Any help would be appreciated, thanks !
I think you have to buy a standard petrol zippo and exchange the insert to the butane accessory. I don't believe you can buy a complete butane zippo.
I’m curious do inserts have a real value , I’ve only had 2 that the case and insert are the same month and year that was back in the early 90’s zippo fixed it for me 3 times , always sent a newer insert just curious
Honestly should have gotten the electric insert over the single torch
ok so the ones with battery i take it they are better than the piezo electric right because those tend to eventually malfunction specially when you press them down and the timing is off as the spark goes off before the gas flows when they start getting bad or the spark is not as good anymore, what circuit does the battery one work on? also i learned aside from bleeding the tank you should also put the flame setting on the lowest before refilling at least with some lighters and idk if that is done from the screw adjustment or if it can be done by by a flame adjustment knob usually on the side of lighters, and about bleeding the tank can you also do this in two ways either by pressing the button down till it flames out which might take long or by depressing the fuel refill port with a small screwdriver

Do NOT use the Brunson Fuel Tool that screws onto camping gas tanks for camping stoves. The butane in these tank had a lot of microscopic particles in it that will clog the line and orifice of the lighter. Use only well filters fuel for lighters.
Does anyone know why my brand new double torch burns like a normal lighter (normal yellow flame)? Is it faulty or am I doing something wrong?

The other problem with he double torch is that sometimes one flame is bigger than the other. Any idea why?
Sometimes low quality butane will dirty up your fuel lines. If that’s the case just turn up the flame and push one of the 99.999% pure brands through there and it’ll clean it up. That’s all I can figure. My soft flame insert had a very high flame and you can’t adjust it so I just put low quality butane in there on purpose and it solved my issue lmao.
My zippo butane insert does not like to work in a zippo case fits perfectly wont stay lite take it out of the case and it works perfectly???? Please HELP

How long do these inserts usually last on a full tank?
That is one hundred percent dependant on how much you use it. I think the Single is rated for 60x 5 seconds and the double is 45x 5 seconds. Butane will not evaporate like lighter fluid. If you don't use it, it will not go empty.

How do I restore my sterling silver zippo? Carried it daily since I was 19,21 now. Been to 2 countries with me. Want to get it restored for eventual kids(hopefully lol). Can I get it restored professionally? It’s all scratched and I’m unsure if the silvers been worn through. Thanks!

Both zorro and zippo butane are made in china. Zippo just feel heavier... Zorro its a very good for the price. U cant miss... I still like zippo but I wish they made buttane in us.

Hey if you ever wanna talk I did a whole lotta work to one of them “yusud” inserts n got it working perfectly, all u really need is a drill, drill bits, some screwdrivers, n to fill it with HIGH QUALITY 5x minimum filtered butane. I’ve got mine lighting 10/10 strikes no problemo. Oh also you’re gonna have to trash the shit flint it comes with, I put the flint from mine into an old clipper and it can’t even get that fuckin clipper to light more than 1/10 times man

First, thank you for the video and trying to help. I've watched your videos and a couple others and nothing. I think the insert is garbage which makes me sad. I have a $5 refillable gas station torch that I don't have to do special tricks to refill and I can see how much fluid is in it. I can't stand the flimsy, leaky factory set up. The torch doesn't work. I have the newest insert coming in the mail tomorrow as my final hope. Otherwise I'm done with Zippo forever.
