Chorus:
When the screws are tightnin' and the tears are falling
I can hear her crying out to be saved
And like a bolt of lightning I go answer the call
But she's singing like a siren to me over the waves
I never wanted to take away your lover
Until I heard her crying out to be saved
I always thought of you as one of my brothers
But she's singing like a siren to me over the waves
Singing like a siren to me over the waves
There ain't no holding me down!

Voice, theatrics, showmanship, talent. THAT's the difference between a 'star' and a singer. Will miss him but at least I was lucky enough to have grown up with his music. RIP mate.
Why doesn't this video have more comments and views!
@@paulwoodford6229 rest in peace meatloaf
@@paulwoodford6229 love this music so much. They rarely play his music where I’m from. Maybe once in a blue moon you’ll hear Paradise by the Dashboard Lights or I’d Do Anything for Love, but it’s been ages. Jim Steinman was a phenomenal songwriter, and they made me fall in love with rock and roll music. They deserve more recognition and respect.
I thank them both.
And Jim :)
Proud to have grown up to this legend, RIP Meatloaf 🙏
R.I.P. Meat Loaf! Thank you for all the joy and rock 'n' roll magic you have brought in our lives!
This is a phenomenal song.
😭
@Ririn Collin Wing I should, he is my favourite musician
He's in the room at the top now.
Absolutely heartbroken,
Jim's album was ready in heaven and meat had to go and perform 💔
Farewell to two musical geniuses.
💔💔
That’s the best way I’ve ever heard of describing those two’s passing,it gives me a little peace, something I haven’t had much of since Jim died
And now Meat my heart won’t heal…
That's a nice thought.
It's too bad that we can't hear that album. I bet it would've been just amazing.
Meatloaf's Bat out of hell album is pure, raw, unbridled testosterone. He was never scared of using his voice at all extremes. No modern day artist can come close. I've been listening to Meatloaf since 1979, thru good times, bad times and modern times. I was lucky!
I’ve been listening since 1987.... which was the year I was born. I count myself lucky I grew up on music like this. And I credit Meatloaf songs with becoming a singer myself.
My history with Meat Loaf is a bit weirder. In the summer of 1993/1994 I`d Do Anything For love and Rock`n Roll Dreames Come Through were the only cut songs on radio in Buenos Aires. I loved them. And never heard again anything from Meat till I found UA-cam. I`m a fan since then.
Me to brother there will never be another meatloaf RIP GREATMAN
So true, your words say it all ❤️
During his lifetime Meat Loaf was very talented. It's a shame He's gone. RIP Meat Loaf. Wherever You are, many won't Let You be forgotten. Your songs are immortal.
Yup
oh I'm telling my grandkids about them
@@Barbie_All_The_Way wonderful. I would like to do the same thing.
@@julkasteven8198 But I have to have kids first 😆😝😜🤪
@@julkasteven8198 love your first name. Did Pearl and Amanda ever come out if he got vaccinated?
Pure raw emotion. There will never be anyone MEATLOAF ever again. He's the GOAT
When I was younger I never understood what ppl meant when they said music moved them but as I got older & kept listening to meatloaf I knew what they meant when one day I played this song after not hearing it for a long while. My chest just felt full my heart fluttered & I felt like crying & i couldn't understand why, then I got it, the music this song moved me & still does.
He deserved so much more recognition than he got, him & Jim created such powerful music.
I'll be listening to meatloaf till the day I die 🖤✌
Absolutely agree, Donna
You are right about the music. I was in a shopping centre in Melbourne and heard Bat out of He'll playing. Had never heard of Meat Loaf prior to that. First thought was, I have to get that record. That was in 78.
rest well legend.. your music will forever live on in our hearts , thanks for the memories❤❤
One of the greatest voices in R&R history. An absolute powerhouse
I just read a comment from an airhead who said that Steven Tyler was better
👀
Absolutely extraordinary performance. I’ve been listening to Meat Loaf for over 30 years now and there are very few artists who can compare to his powerful vocal prowess and stage presence. Just amazing.
Its Bern over 40 years for me and still grips me everytime I listed to this legend
No can compare
Here it shows how amazing the collaboration between Steinman and Meat Loaf truly was: Meat Loaf had impertabable trust in Jim's abilities as a songwriter and poured every ounce of his being into every single note. To Jim, Meatloaf was his muse; the voice that made him want to create grandiose songs for.
Jim Steinman is often called the Richard Wagner of Rock, and MeatLoaf had the power, the performance, the utter stage presence of an opera singer. Hence the attire he wears here.
Rest in piece, you two geniuses of Rock 'n' Roll, and thank you for everything.
We will always miss you.
Jim Steinman was the genius behind all Meatloaf's songs. And he also composed hits for Bonnie Tyler, Air Supply, Celine Dion and others. R.I.P. Jim Steinman.
I thought this was a joke, I was just reading about him the other day and was happy to find he was still alive. :( RIP Mr. Steinman, I guess heaven can't wait for you any longer.
@@Jewelietta I have yet to discover anyone that brings to the table anything near the quality of a Jim Steinman song
He will always be the genius behind meatloafs songs 🖤✌
He was behind it, but he could not reveal the power of his songs on stage. He tried and failed. That was Meat's job. We can consider ourselves very fortunate that these to guys found each other.
Yeah Steinman was a genius, but Wagner and Verdi could not sing their own Arias with the skill of great singers. Jim Needed Meat and Meat needed Jim. RIP to one of most funny and intelligent songwriters ever!
"Can't hold me back. Like a dreamer in a dungeon or an angel in a cave. Can't hold me back." He gave every performance his all! MEATLOAF=LEGENDARY MUSIC ARTIST
R.I.P. KEEP ON ROCKIN
Every bit of his heart&soul in every performance. An American original; REST EASY, LEGEND.
RIP Meatloaf, you were one of the best and a privilege to see you live!!!!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
RIP Michael xx
RIP Meat loaf , they'll play your songs till eternity, you'll never really leave us, legends live on in all of us ♥️
Singing like a siren to me over the waves... Can it get any better? Steinman is a fucking genius
Saw him in Harrogate in 84, boy what a show, meat rocked it. Rip big fella, thanks for some of the best music of all time. God bless you. Damn that's gonna be one heck if a choir.
Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman are together now ... I think it's a hignway to heaven.
13 year old, AND I LOVE MEAT LOAF, such a great band
Congratulation that you like Meat Loaf and sorry that you didn't saw him live. Compare to me, I saw him 3 time live. Hamburg, Dortmund ( Germany ) and Toronto. The best concerts ever. Oh...I am 60 years old. I was his first fan when he came on the market 1977 with the album "Bat out of hell ".
Someone must have blessed us when he gave us those songs.
The beat is OURS forever
The passion behind this is truly incredible. I'd only ever be able to tell that from a music video like this.
R. I. P. Meat Loaf
What an absolute legend. Been listening to your music for 30+ years and will continue for many more to come. Rest in peace big man and thank you for the uncomparable amazing music.
What a shame I never gotta see him 'Live' performing, he was on my wishlist for years..
me too.
I’m 34 years old and had the pleasure of seeing him 5 times live. What you see here is how he was live. Yes older and mellow but still going all out to put on a great so and he never disappointed RIP Meat Loaf
It looks like I am the luckiest guys. I saw him 3 time live. In the 90 Th.. Hannover, Dortmund ( Germany ) and Toronto. Best concerts ever.
Meat's the only person who can put as much passion in a playback/ music video as he would live. Fantastic performer.
RIP to this absolute legend…
You're correct about Meatloaf, he has a very good voice. They sure do not give the man enough credit for his singing.
I do believe Meatloaf was way ahead of his time! Need his songs now more than ever!
He and Steinman are timeless.
@@inlakesh555 To right
His performances are so strong and powerful. I always find me sitting there with my mouth open and at the end I'm exhausted just by watching it. It's a phenomenon.
No way in the world he came out just at the right time for me 2 cassettes of Bat out of hell and an l.p. went missing so that needed replacing then the best of twice. people hated me I played it all so much.
I more addicted now to listening to him, if possible!
People say he lost his voice after years may a bit but only because he gave it 1000 percent every time he sang
Very good point I agree xx
That was a lot of his problems, he was THAT good, he didn't need to put THAT much effort to his songs, last October we saw a Meat Loaf tribute act at Sheffield City Hall than Meat himself was towards the end.
Good Lord this man is sings with more passion than most men can only dream to posess.... He can take me right here right now
Hes brilliant
Dead Ringer is a brilliant album, all but forgotten.
Does not get better than this....no one does love songs better than Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf.
I got my O levels and A levels listening to Meatloaf, and singing along. I even came home one evening to find my dad playing the Bat out of Hell LP....the spoken line “I bet you say that to all the boys” tickled him. I couldn’t believe it when my mum told me that Meatloaf was playing in my home town of Paignton. “What? The Meatloaf?” It was a great show, as was the musical years later in London. It looks like heaven has waited long enough. Thank you Meatloaf and Jim Steinman. You were great and I’ll happily sing on.
WOW, his energy comes right through the camera, through my computer onto the monitor and blasts me like a crashing, crushing wave of sound! What a voice. Incredible! And in this vid I got to see his band and backup singers! Man, he's charging them with his energy also!
RIP, Meatloaf, I'm gonna miss you.
Well said. Energy intensity passion, there aren’t words to really describe how great he is.
@@brendamartin9362 I love it when he flick's his hair around make's him look better love always meat loaf xx
absolute gem. meat loaf was an amazing showman during this era. he sells JS's material like a boss.
If this wasn't a performance, I don't know what is.
I'll tell you what it is: it is playback!😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hu
Plenty of singers have the vocal range of Meat Loaf but none of them can keep control over it as well as him when belting it out at full power.
this is so true, he was an incredible talent of vocal range and emotional emphasis
Jim steinman and meatloaf never see this combination again
Rip Jim steinman
Meat Loaf once said... If you want to sing a Jim's song you have to become a Jim's song... That's what he did. There's no comparison. No one will ever do what these 2 guys did. Quite a perfect match... They leave our hearts broken and empty of more musical masterpieces. But they left enough of them for us to be fullfilled. Thans guys, that's "more than we deserve"
It's been a year and still in our hearts, what a song and artist. Your voice will always be missed!
Don’t forget his acting ability it meant more to him than singing
Jim & Meat are together again..bet the music is amazing!
2 of the GREATS are gone.
I can't put Into words how much I love this song ♥️
Same!
Meat Loaf and his songwriter Jim Steinman still on top for me.
Celebrate your 75 birthday wherever you are!
RIP Meat Loaf. Music gets poorer with your passing. You gave us so much. Thank you !
Rest in Peace Meat Loaf 1947-2022 age 74 years old.
What a Great Showmen ... Gives it his ALL..
He lost his voice that way. And he turn back again. A real rock'n roll hero...
R.I.P. Meat Loaf ✨
I’ve only met about a dozen Meatloaf fans IRL, what is wrong with people? This is awe inspiring stuff!
Look for the older generation. It gives a lot of Meat Loaf fans. I am lucky, I saw him 3 time live. Hamburg, Dortmund ( Germany ) and Toronto. Best concerts ever.
What a beautiful, powerful, singer! This boy can really belt it out! Love meatloaf!
I LOVED MEATLOAF SO MUCH! RIP 🙏🏻🙏🏻💔
Never have lyrics been so emotionally brought to life. Meatloaf = rocknroll legend
He creates a vortex and draws us all in! We share the emotion with every word he sings.
RIP Big Guy
Meatloaf songs had true meaning to them truly amazing 😊
Meat Loaf, you have kept me going throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. You legend.
Still listening in 2020 I'm 54 now and it still gives me goose bumps.
Big J I see you, man. I just turned 53, and have been listening to the Loaf & Jim since I discovered Bat out of hell back in 1982.
Don't ever stop listening its perfect
Timeless
Yup. Been a listening a long time. I was still in high school when BOH was released.
In 1982 was 16 my old man band me from listening to it .so I did the anthem of life .....
Meatloaf no Disney just the real life and that’s what we need..
R.I.P you will forever be missed but your music will live on ❤️
If there’s one thing in common with every amazing Jim Steinman song, it’s that it has a bridge so good that it tops the entirety of the rest of the music. “When the screws are tightenin and the tears are fallin I can hear her crying out to be saved. Like a bolt of lightning I go answer the call, but Shes singin like a siren on the end of a wave.” Holy shit does that hit harder than ever after a couple verses and choruses of desperation. Amazing.
You are absolutely correct.
He
Always liked this! Remember Meat today by playing the songs you know & may NOT know! RIP! (Say Hi to Jim)
Greatest song of all time
R.I.P Jim Steinman

That slow build that ends the song is so powerful. It just keeps building until it (and Meat) explodes. Dude was a force of nature.
Man, this guy in his prime was just superb.
Almost 40 years later this song is still 🔥🔥🔥
Goodnight Sir , Sleep tight , Thank you for giving us your talent to enjoy xx
This is rock'n roll theatre fkn awesome 2023
A Singer and actor. Pure magic.
Meat Loaf is the best! He really is. This is rock & roll Shakespeare.
+Abbey Roads Ha, thats perfect
+Abbey Roads But this song was written by Jim Steinman!!
+boo bye your right...most of meatloafs songs are written by him. but Jim has the talent to write them and meatloaf has the talent to bring them to life. nothing against Jim but I don't think he can sing like meatloaf lol
+nie wissen Rory Dodd also had the talent to "bring them to life". Nothing against Meatloaf but there wouldn't be anything without Jim Steinman.
frodelius Steinmann and meatloaf were a match made in heaven. If not for the success of bat out of hell, jim may have never had a chance to be as successful as a songwriter as he was. Jim and Marvin (meatloaf) both deserve credit.
im so sad that your no longer here but your voice and songs will live on your a true legend x
"GOOSEBUMPS ON GOOSEBUMPS "!!!!!!!♡
When you listen to this and you don't get goosebumps then your no longer alive.
He was never appreciated as well in North America as over seas but my lord the queens guard played tribute to him after news of his passing he was one of kind a true super star !!!! RIP
Meatloaf sounds as good in 2021 as he did years ago. Fantastic song. Turn it up loud and rock ur arse off. 🎤🎶

Backing singer in the cap...Ted Neely, one of the greatest voices in history, played Jesus in JC Superstar , the movie and on stage for 40 years.
!!!!!!!! Oh my god you’re right!! I always thought the guy in the cap looked so cool when I was a kid! I never put two and two together
Rory Dodd?
@@inlakesh555 I always thought it was Rory Dodd too 🤷🏻♀️
Cap is definitely Ted Neely. I believe the other backup singer is Eric Troyer.

...And Beyond....
He was simply the greatest showman and most committed to his fans and with just an amazing voice - what a talent he will be missed so very much.
One of the greatest singer ever
Real headbanger. Unbelievable!
"If you give me your girl, and you give me your trust...and you give me 'til the end of the night, I'm gonna love her for both of us." LOL...one of the great unappreciated funny rock lyrics of all time.
ritwingr yes
Video from the ensuing threesome is being edited ?
ritwingr You hit it right on the money!!- it's very easy to miss the hilarious insinuating lyrics (i'm gonna do your girl if you trust me) under the dramatic music.
And Meat singing it so seriously with all the passion makes it work. Anyone else singing this would just make the song cheesy. The magic of Steinman and Meat together.
Hehe
I mean....just...WOW!!! They just don't make anything now that even comes close....Rest in Peace Meatloaf, your a national treasure!
