So Lisa Raymond stepped in to play singles, along with Chanda Rubin and Venus. I’m not accusing anyone of anything, but it a certainly quite suspicious.
How can it be suspicious when before the Olympics she withdrew from San Diego and Montreal with the same knee problem she cited? Stop with the conspiracy theories

She also stated that she was devastated she wouldn’t play the Olympics and that was unsure if she would go on to play the rest of the year. No surprise that later she played not only the US Open mere weeks after, but Beijing, Linz and the WTA Finals as well. Moreover, Zina Garrison (the then captain of the women’s US team) was asked about Serena’s “injury” and said she was surprised because she had talked to Serena a day before her withdrawal and that her knee was fine.
One thing about Dimentieva game she was a good returner but her serve on the other hand was poor. In the 2004 Miami final againts Serena she lost 6-1 6-1 to Serena and the only two games she won in the match was on Serena serve Dimentieva didn't hold serve throughout the entire match that match was over very quickly. In 2009, she got much fitter and stronger and started to challenge Serena around that time she serve and return really well against Serena in their 2009 Wimbledon Semi finals match where she had a match point. I don't think Dimentieva got over that lost despite she did defeat Serena 2 times after that match she retired the following year in 2010. To know you were at your very best came so close and still lost.
