I wish all “old” matches had been filmed in super-ultra-HD-3D or whatever will be the standard years from now. Or at least HD/UHD. I know it was impossible at the time of course, but I remember a lot of matches particularly from the 80s and 90s and the quality is ok, but compared to modern matches it looks so blurry and soft. But anyway, thanks for this upload and all the rest on your channel!
Hingis would negate some of Serena’s power by taking the ball so early and also not just chipping it back, but hitting it deep near the line. She was/is such an accurate hitter. It’s like watching a chess match…good stuff! 🎾
Aggressive Hingis was a thing of beauty. This was arguably her greatest comeback of all time, down 1-4 in the 3rd to Serena. She fought hard and got the win.
Hingis had some of the highest IQ in the history of tennis. Athleticism and power eventually tipped the weight in favor of players like Davenport and Serena.
I actually think Serena was the smarter player. She really adapted her game based on who she played against. I noticed for example on grass she came into net more against aggressive players, and she added more topspin later in her career when playing good movers. Hingis just did not adapt as well and the game passed her by.
What a match.
Respect at the net ❤….two of the very best of all time.
One of the classic matches of women's tennis

Yeah, I wish the AO channel would post the match in full like other classics which are uploaded in full and quite nice quality.
