- This was a routine win for Elena but this video is so long because I just had to include some of Pam Shriver's zany commentary and the hilarious drama from the Empress herself. Jankovic was already an icon, even in 2004.

Rare footage, great video Chris! JJ wearing Lacoste and playing Yonex, wow!
Always loved to hear Pam Shriver commentating tennis. And her exclamation regarding Dementieva’s serve!
As soon as Pam said, “I hear she has a very big serve”, I knew the commentary would be wild 😭. Maybe she got her confused with Ivanovic 😭😭?
I know right. The commentators were off their heads for this one. Was I the only one who heard about Pam's Ethiopian dinner 😂Who the fuck employs these people?
What a TREAT!!!!! Two very talented players were successfull, only Serena Stood in their ways, although their career COULD have yielded grandslam if they had PLAYED more years
Some players hang around enough for a grandslam WIN like Caro Wosniacki, marion bartoli, conchita martinez and flavia planeta, that I remember
Do you by any chance have Serena vs jankovic from San Diego 2004
They got máster 1000 and dementieva an olympic gold medal
What racquet wsa JJ using?
Pam's zany commentary 🤣 She was always so candid and cutting but never in a purely cunty way.
So weird seeing baby Jankovic here. The Yonex racquet is a throwback.
Elena was so beautiful and such a great body!
If she had kept this backhand for the rest of her career, maybe she wouldn’t have had such poor h2h against JJ, Radwanska and Woz.
Why did she change her technique with it do you think?

Elena should’ve stayed with her coach Olga from 2004. She progressively got more passive with her ground strokes starting in 2005 until the end of her career.
Nah, 2005 she was still pretty aggressive for the most part, her game was just really up and down due to pressure and mental blocks I think. 2006 is when it really started to kick in, look at the 2005 Moscow match against Msykina and then their match in 2006 Tokyo (both are on my channel) - you can see how much more consistent and passive her game became in a very short period of time.
@@chriscze6153 It’s really so sad. She had the best and most lethal inside out forehand on tour. By the end of her career she was not really hitting any winners off the forehand like she used to
@@chrisak49 To be fair her game was very simple and she never changed the direction of her shot very much. Throughout her career she hit on average about 20 winners a match, if she changed up the crosscourt for some down the line more it would have easily been 25 plus winners a match on average I'm sure. But yeah, her game deteriorated a lot the last years. Still love her though.
I can’t decide whether Jankovic, Radwanska or Wozniacki is Elena’s most unlikable nemesis.
Well I like Jankovic and could tolerate Radwanska. For me it's Wozniacki. Definitely the least favorite for me.
@@chriscze6153 Plus Wozniacki brought out the actual worst in Dementieva's game so it was doubly unwatchable. Her and Jankovic at least had some very entertaining matches.
@@chriscze6153 Wozniacki has the best backhand down the line though. That kills Elena every single time.
Wozniacki has the best serve and backhand out of the three of them
Elena is the real Russian tennis beauty, not Kournikova.
