Mobapad M6 HD has THE best d-pad I've used in my entire life. Bar none. I nailed x6 Zangief pile drivers in Ultra Street Fighter II using the rocker d-pad. Even the normal one I was nailing it more than with any other D-pad I've tried, and I've connected my Dualsense to my Switch to try the d-pad bedore
The mobapad has everything the official joycon has, in a better form factor. That means it beats every controller out there by default. I'm sure It'll be no contest going up against the Nitro Deck too. If they had released this earlier, a lot of Switch owners will have one.
Yeah, definitely these joy-con look and feel more premium than the Nitro Deck does. I have one and I immediately didn't like it bc it feels cheap. The plastic on it feels cheap. I wish I had found the mobapads first.
Well the binbok ones were really good. No hall effect but I don't think they were a thing back then. Everything else was great. The new lumos has the hall effect, the only bad thing is that they only have basic rumble and no amibo support.
@ I tried several sets of the Binbok ones- they were ok, but between no HD rumble, terrible Dpads, inconsistent buttons and a very loose fit to the console, I wouldn't rate them anywhere close the the M6 HDs.
It’s kind of obvious the MOBAPAD M6 HD would win…… after all, these are literally the love child of the original joy cons, and the split pad pro with none of the defects of the originals
@@TheInfiniteNine I can only really comment on the NYXI ones as they are what I have. They are quite light which is no bad thing in my eye, to me they are ergonomically very comfortable and in that respect feel like an Xbox controller - not the overly contoured controller that was mentioned in the review above 👆. They come with a central bridge so you can use them as a stand alone controller which from the video the M6 don’t come with and which would be a major drawback in my view. The aforementioned central bridge is not able to be attached to power and charge the joycons while using which is a drawback. They don’t have HD rumble as mentioned though I don’t know many games where the rumble feature comes into its own and from using both Xbox, current, and Xbox 360 I must admit to not noticing much of a difference TBH. The Hall effect joysticks can feel a little light to use until you get used to them though that seems to be a thing about Hall effect joysticks in general. The D-pad seems quite good on them as does the clickiness of the buttons. Personally I prefer the colour ways of the NYXI to what I saw of the M6 and that you can change the M6 doesn’t draw me to them. My Nyxi's are awesome and having the centre piece means I never use my pro controller anymore. It's the only controller you need! I've got big hands and they are perfect. I really like the raised buttons too, they remind me of the first XBox controller.
After a lot of debating on ordering these or not, i bit the bullet. Aliexpress suddonly had a discount going so i saved almost 10euro on them, bought it with a case to be safe. Been looking at these kind of joycons since forever, all the way back from the hori split pad pro, into the compacts, into the NYXI and the binboks and i just never did it and got the hori dpad and a oivo aliexpress grip instead for less then 10euro, and its been great. But i saw these come by on reddit, watched all your videos and everything else i could find, and while listening to this video i bought them. My only remaining worry is/was theyve only been out for like 1/2months so we dont know the reliability of them yet, but feck it, il give them a shot. Thanks for your videos!

I have standard joy cons for over a year now and have always found them very uncomfortable. Would you say the nyxi pro are worth it for £42 and will it be huge difference in comparison.
its my first time finding out about this and though i really want to buy the MOBAPAD M6 HD after watching your review and comparison in this video, but news and feeling like the switch 2 will be released this year(announcement at least) is making me doubt it's worth the trouble, i already have the standard HYPERION controllers. i just hope MOBAPAD can keep up with the switch2 R&D so we can get something like this or even better. man, they're 7 years late with these amazing stuff.
Hyperion Pro’s are perfect for my hand grip. The Mobapads are too small. Where the Hyperion love??? It’s a GREAT controller upgrade for your switch. WOW I’m very troubled with how you basically said the Hyperion Pro’s are trash. Smh. I think the Moba are too small but I’m not dumping on it…
@LouisLuzuka yeah bro I ended up getting the HD. The main reason was because I wanted it in white. The rumble is an awesome bonus. If you wanna save a bit of money, the coloured ones should be fine. Iv never tried it out but I'm sure it would be almost as good.
Sorry if you’ve already answered this, but I’m curious about a size comparison between these two. Specifically, I’d like to know how much horizontal length each adds to the Switch.
I got to be honest. I been looking at various videos trying to see which of these type of joycon replacements would be the overall best and went with the Mobapad M6 HD; based on how good you said the dpad was (which to me is important). The day I got it; I found out immediately that it was absolute RUBBISH. Didn't matter which dpad attachment I used; the thing is TERRIBLE for fighting games and street fighter. No dragon punches at all if you go with this. The sticks and mechanical buttons are great, as is the overall feel; but you must not play fighting games or are just terrible; if you think this dpad is good. It is the worse on the market; bar none.
Thanks for your comment. I find it insane how many youtubers review controllers by “feeling” instead of showing the results. They don't even need to play games (because apparently they don't care about them), they just need to open the Switch's dedicated input screen and do simple tests like moving the dpad, for example, to opposite sides quickly. This is a useful test to see if the dpad is good at diagonals. If you do this with the 8bitdo SN30pro, which by the way is highly praised by youtubers (I unfortunately bought one because of this), you'll immediately notice the severe problem that controller has with diagonals, which are triggered very easily, one of the biggest problems with modern dpads. He could have done tests with the analog sticks as well to show how severe the dead zone is. It's a super simple test: the higher the dead zone, the more pronounced the “snap effect” will be on the Switch's input screen, where the stick will appear to have a preference for cardinal directions. But there's nothing like that. Just like 99% of the videos I come across, there doesn't seem to be any concern about actually putting the controller to the test, playing difficult video games that require different inputs, showing how the controller responds on the Switch's dedicated screen, etc. Apparently the only thing that matters is the “feel” of the controller itself, isolated from the game, as if it were a product whose purpose is not to control a damn video game. It's so annoying in this youtuber culture, I'll tell you... As I said, 99% of the videos could be deleted and no useful information would be lost.
@jpa3974 Very true. This channel just put out another video of the new "black" colored Mobapad boasting how great it is and still not tests like the ones you mentioned; are to be found.
I just love the mobapad, but the Nyxi athena still are the most comfortable to me. I can play hours with them with no issue, with the mobapad and hyperion, it hurts my hand pretty quick. It really depends on your hand size I guess, but I wish there was an update to athena with all the stuff from the mobapad.
Would you say you have bigger hands or smaller hands? (as compared to this reviewer or just in general) What makes the Athena more comfortable for you?
@@807D14M0ND5 hard to say, my hand are maybe a bit larger but not that much. And I tought the athena were more comfortable because the handle are rounded toward the bottom which make my hand more naturally grip around them. But tbh with 3 months of use, the mobapad are fine now, got used to them over time.
My hyperion pro right stick stopped working properly after just a few weeks, its unplayable now. If you remove those little round stickers on the back, it also removes your warranty. Obviously a review of the controller is going to b great, because its just out of the box. Give it a while..
Mobapad M6 HD smokes ANY joycon you could possibly compare them to, official included. These are easily the pinnacle of Switch gaming. Everyone should be using these joycon. If you have a Switch, and don't have the M6 HD, what are you even doing...
last week i got the Nyxi Hyperion Pro but after a couple of use, the Hyperion Pro Joycons disconnects my switch but not only my switch i try to put my Hyperion Joycon to my friend's switch its the same it disconnects my joycon to my friend's switch so i decided to refund and bought the Mobapad M6. The best joycon i've ever bought
Hi and thank you very much for the video!, could you please tell, if these NYXI Joy Cons work fine on mario party gemes, specifically with the mini games which based on movement sensors.
my original Hyperion had one back Z button that just doesn't feel right, like it doesn't spring back as nicely or quickly as the other. Wonder if that's been fixed.
Can anyone answer if the Mobapad wobbles when attached to the Switch? The Hyperion wobble is CRAZY. Total deal breaker. I’m returning them tomorrow and came looking for a better alternative.
would you ever do comparison of the Mobapad Chitu vs the Easy SMX X10? second one is more XBOX / PC style but these are the two mechanical button controllers I'm trying to decide between.
very good video, the MODPAD M6 HD convinced me and I think I'm going to buy them, but first I would also like if the MODPAD M6 HD can be charged using a charging grip, either with the original Nintendo ones or an unofficial one, I would also like know if it is possible that the NODPAD M6 HD can be used on the PC and if it recognizes them, thank you very much
Yep you can use an official joycon charging grip if you unscrew the grip part off it. Just need a little triwing and philips head screwdriver to get it off, but an official mobapad charging grip is coming soon. And yeah they can connect to a pc via bluetooth and betterjoy just like regular joycons, but their hd pro controller is much better for that because you can use it via a 2.4 ghz dongle and it has more features that are suited for pc gaming. Plus it has 4 rumble motors, 2 hd and 2 regular. The things a beast lol
Unpopular opinion but i think im going with nyxi. most important factor for a controller with me is comfort and the ergonomics just look better, the mobapad seem a little small. not to mention the nxyi look better and cost less. either way they are probably the best two on the market so you can't lose
totally agree, these are probably the best two right now. I'd also give an honourable mention to the Coiorvis Phantom HD, but different form factor to these.
For sure, thanks for the comparison video. Decided to go with the hyperion because I've been playing a lot of splatoon lately and saw some saying the motion controls were a little better. If I see the mobapad on sale though I will most likely grab a pair. Thanks again
Damn I really though i had figured out what to buy and then I found this video. The only controller that I truly find to be perfect for me is the xbox controller. Which joy con replacements would you say have the equivalent ergonomic feeling for someone with large hands? I know that's a very subjective and opinion based question but still any input would be greatly appreciated.
By any chance do you know what size thumb grips the mobapad uses? I'm not sure if to order ones that are pro controller size thumb sticks or joycon's size. I dont want mine to yellow so im searching for the something to cover sticks lol
I own the Mobapad m6 hd's, I really like them but I feel the face buttons to be a little spongy. I love the clicky response but if you press slowly there's no way you can honestly say there's little to no pre-travel. Its simply not true...
Your view is bit biased and i agree, moba is better. But.. That bigger and cheap feeling of less spring resistance of those thumpstics... I think you will aim better with those, try playing smt.
Fading? After closing inspection it's not paint, the abxy facebuttons are actually transparent, you can see through them, as if they were going to put LED's behind but didn't in the end
I have had three NVXI Hyperions (not the Pro but the white version) and I've had the same problems with all three. The D-Pad sucks! It's mushy and after less than a month of use, one of the directions stops working (usually right or down, probably because they get the most use in 2D platformers.) Also, the LED colors keep resetting every third time I play, and it takes a shitload of clicks to reset them. Very disappointing quality for a $50 controller.

Yeah that would be cool, could always mod the faceplates though!
(as compared to this reviewer or just in general)
What makes the Athena more comfortable for you?
@@807D14M0ND5 hard to say, my hand are maybe a bit larger but not that much. And I tought the athena were more comfortable because the handle are rounded toward the bottom which make my hand more naturally grip around them. But tbh with 3 months of use, the mobapad are fine now, got used to them over time.
Great video to help me decide which to choose.
Can the Switch still stand upright with the Mobapads? Other ergonomic joy cons don't allow the Switch to stand up straight.
My hyperion pro right stick stopped working properly after just a few weeks, its unplayable now. If you remove those little round stickers on the back, it also removes your warranty.
Obviously a review of the controller is going to b great, because its just out of the box. Give it a while..
I just order a mobapad. Can't wait
Same here! Can't wait!
@@caetanodantas4880 you can't until I get mine 😉 I know what you meant
Mobapad m6 hd ... is like impossible to find unless you order directly from manufacturer
Is this still up to date the best one also does it work on PC??
What's the difference with mobapad m6 s and mobapad m6 hd? Gonna consider hyperion pro also.
Mobapad M6 HD smokes ANY joycon you could possibly compare them to, official included. These are easily the pinnacle of Switch gaming. Everyone should be using these joycon. If you have a Switch, and don't have the M6 HD, what are you even doing...
They're excellent aren't they!
No centre peace is a killer for me…. Do they work with the standard switch centre peace?
Dude - I love your videos. Just bought these based on your epic review. Liked and subscribed. Cheers!
Thank you! Hope you love them!
last week i got the Nyxi Hyperion Pro but after a couple of use, the Hyperion Pro Joycons disconnects my switch but not only my switch i try to put my Hyperion Joycon to my friend's switch its the same it disconnects my joycon to my friend's switch so i decided to refund and bought the Mobapad M6. The best joycon i've ever bought
Hi and thank you very much for the video!, could you please tell, if these NYXI Joy Cons work fine on mario party gemes, specifically with the mini games which based on movement sensors.
They should've release a black one for M6 HD. I already have the old white M6. 😅
Great comparison video Boss.
Hi, a bit late but how are both in docked mode?
Can you set Right Joycon buttons to the Left Joycon back button? and set Left Joycon buttons to the Right Joycon back button?
I think no 😅
Which one is more similar to the analogic DS4?
Assume the best is the one with the biggest commission?
😆
my original Hyperion had one back Z button that just doesn't feel right, like it doesn't spring back as nicely or quickly as the other. Wonder if that's been fixed.
oh seems like it hasn't, i do not like the Z buttons on them. Will be checking out the Moba
Does the mobapad have different colors?
Can you use any of these controllers as a PC gaming controller as well as for Switch?
MOBAPAD have a USB receiver for use with PC now
Can anyone answer if the Mobapad wobbles when attached to the Switch? The Hyperion wobble is CRAZY. Total deal breaker. I’m returning them tomorrow and came looking for a better alternative.
Can you switch the octagonal gates with the MOBAPAD ChiTu?
Could NYXI Hyperion be connected to PC? I want to grab this one but the information in internet is limited(
I wish the Mobapad was available in different colours. White doesn't do it for me
My nyxis are perfect... Except rumble didn't work for a month, and now that it does it won't connect to anything by bluetooth.
I have the Mobapad M6 Gemenis and I am waiting for the Mobapad M6 HD to arrive
would you ever do comparison of the Mobapad Chitu vs the Easy SMX X10? second one is more XBOX / PC style but these are the two mechanical button controllers I'm trying to decide between.
Battery life for each one? Cause 4 hrs is weak on the nyxi.
Are the only 2 places to get/order them, mobapad's website and aliexpress?
As far as I'm aware, yeah :/
He spends 20 mins gushing about the mobapad, your welcome
@@Spintechfilms correct
The Hd rumble tempts me but the pastel colors are soooo nice. Do you think mobapad will release more colors?
I highly doubt they'll release more but I could be wrong!
Also, the mobapad seems confier for using them as individual joy-cons to play marioparty and all that.
very good video, the MODPAD M6 HD convinced me and I think I'm going to buy them, but first I would also like if the MODPAD M6 HD can be charged using a charging grip, either with the original Nintendo ones or an unofficial one, I would also like know if it is possible that the NODPAD M6 HD can be used on the PC and if it recognizes them, thank you very much
I'll be doing an "answering your questions" video soon, I'll answer these there!
Thanks for this review! Just ordered my HDs and cant wait for that clicky goodness.
What about Doyoky? Or is it basically the same as the NYXI?
Basically same as the NYXI!
That pikachu hoodie is beautiful
Does it work on pc though?
Can you review the QRD Stellar T5? You can compare them to the NYXI Hyperions and MobaPad
I've got the QRD T3, haven't tested them yet though, but not the T5.
Could you use the nintendo centre piece on the mobapad to make it a standalone controller?
If you disassemble it to remove the handle you definitely can. That's what I use with mine.
Wish the mobapad had the center rail to use as a pro controller
Wish this had came out a few days ago before I ordered my hperion pro lol
The Hyperion Pros are still great though!
It's not a true Switch controller if it doesn't have NFC/Amiibo support, which the NYXI doesn't (and none do).
Moba is missing IR
By any chance do you know what size thumb grips the mobapad uses? I'm not sure if to order ones that are pro controller size thumb sticks or joycon's size. I dont want mine to yellow so im searching for the something to cover sticks lol
I'm doing a "your questions answered" video soon, I'll answer there
Ty 😊
The Mobapad M6HD/S uses Switch Pro/PS4 sized thumbcaps. I am using it for my M6S. Hope that helps! 🙂
I’m still wanting the NYXI more for some reason
I own the Mobapad m6 hd's, I really like them but I feel the face buttons to be a little spongy. I love the clicky response but if you press slowly there's no way you can honestly say there's little to no pre-travel. Its simply not true...
I wish both of these controllers came in a black color
The Hyperion Pro’s have a black option
Hey 128kb do you have any recommendations for a grip for the modapad m6hd if you can
Your view is bit biased and i agree, moba is better.
But.. That bigger and cheap feeling of less spring resistance of those thumpstics... I think you will aim better with those, try playing smt.
What's the polling rate for the M6 HD on the gyro?
350-400hz
lets just hope it will work with the incoming switch 2 , mine on its way
What's the battery life of the Hyperion Pro?
6.5 H
We've got a showdown!
Has anyone mentioned the fading of the ABXY buttons on the Mo pad?
Fading? After closing inspection it's not paint, the abxy facebuttons are actually transparent, you can see through them, as if they were going to put LED's behind but didn't in the end
Thank you for your reply! You have convinced me! I have a Hori split pro and compact already. But do I really need another?
Ayy is there any accessories to be able to make my moba pad into a controller
I have had three NVXI Hyperions (not the Pro but the white version) and I've had the same problems with all three. The D-Pad sucks! It's mushy and after less than a month of use, one of the directions stops working (usually right or down, probably because they get the most use in 2D platformers.) Also, the LED colors keep resetting every third time I play, and it takes a shitload of clicks to reset them. Very disappointing quality for a $50 controller.
I don’t have a pc, can I update the mobapad ota?
Is there UK supplier for nyxi?
