I just bought the new EGO you showed. What a great machine, so much lighter and quieter than my old craftsman gas mower. Cuts as good as any mower I’ve owned.
We just bought our first house. I finally convinced the husband to look at electric mowers. . We were on the fence on which model to get. Thank you for making our decision even easier
I did the same thing, been using Battery Powered mowers for 12 years as a homeowner... light, quiet and maintenance is simple compared to gas. Make sure you keep the battery inside in the winter if you live in a cold climate, they are expensive to replace and can be hard to find, purchase an extra one it will extend the life of your mower
Im a single mom and just purchase my first home and thank you so much for this review this mower is expensive but worth it for me because having to pay for lawn care is too expensive over a period of time plus this is more easier for me maintain alone instead of a gas lawnmower. Be blessed
Thanks so much for doing this comparison. I now realize that my local store was trying to sell me their older models without telling me that there is a new and improved version. The torque improvement alone is impressive, as well as the new brushless motor. Thanks again !
Thanks Daniel the challenge we face with Ego though to be honest with you is they don’t give you too many details on their website. I do enjoy the double blade I like having an additional height setting and I do like that the controls have been re-designed and are easier to use: I hope you subscribe have a good night be safe
I could not believe. I just got one from Lowe’s today and upon opening I realized they had the old battery and I got the brushed motor. For $550 bucks I feel ripped off now that I see this review. I’m going to take it back and get the bee one. Thanks for this review!
Thank you for the video. I have the 2156 model that I bought last spring and my EGO Brushless mower is the king. I don’t believe I’ll ever go back to a gas engine.
I have both as I bought the old one 2 yrs ago and just had to get the new one when it came out. The upgrades are great! More power and easier to push with all controls more accessible. Shout out to Brooklyn! Hope she's feeling better.
I have the older model and i love iit!!! I have also the hedge trimmer, weed trimmer, blower and just ordered the pole saw. Really love their tools and the quietness of their motors. My neighbors can’t believe they are battery run.
Great video. Thank you. My son bought us the EGO mower (the older mower you are showing) last summer. We love it!! I have RA and fibromyalgia and cannot pull the cord to start a gas mower nor can I tolerate the vibration of the handle while mowing. I love to mow (started when I was 8 and am now 60)--my son, not so much. Lol. However, now we have this EGO so he wants to mow--occasionally. We just bought (hopefully delivered this week) an additional 7.5 battery. I get about an hour and twenty minutes of mow time with the one and even with the quick charge I would love to have a backup ready to go so my momentum is not halted. I also do not use the self propelled as much as I should to not use more battery time. Now, I will be able to use it more and complete each section in one session. We have about a half acre and I split mowing over two days using this mower. I am wondering why you bought the second one. Is something wrong with the first? I hope not since we have the same one. Brooklyn is beautiful. 🦴🐶 Thanks! Sandi
Hi Sandi, honestly I got excited about the new mower and some of the new features I get that way with new technology I do need to slow myself down lol, I was able to pick up some reconditioned products at Home Depot that included the battery so that’s how I get my hands on additional batteries but probably more 5amp, The 7.5amp batteries are hard to get your hands on they’re very expensive. Thanks for your comment I appreciate it have a great day
I have both and definitely spend the money on the new one. I got the 10ah battery. Comes with extra blades as well. These new blade really give your lawn a pro finished look. The old one did not mulch well at all.
The new one does look like a very good mower indeed. I've had owned the older model for 5 years now it it's still going strong. I can only imagine how good this new one is! All that being said, I don't think it's justified to upgrade as long as the old one still works though.
Love my Ego tools. I own an older model which I push myself; had a problem with the yellow light flashing and mower refusing to run after a few years of use. Ego replaced the power unit and a front wheel under warranty which took 6 weeks but it was winter so I didn't care. I believe they're coming out with a zero turn riding mower.
Hi Abby well I’m glad they took care of you definitely took a while, yep early spring it looks like zero turn will be coming out ua-cam.com/video/nzLR8TNRMjY/v-deo.html
They're nice mowers. I replaced my Craftsman 7.25 Briggs and Stratton mower with the 2135sp. Very happy with the purchase. No more clearing the floater and wasting time to get the mower up and running. One thing I realized is that you're paying pretty much for the battery and charger. The mower costed me 50 bucks after factoring in the price of the two mentioned items.
Good summary. I've had a Sears gas powered model for 23 years and its done a good job but it's getting old and starting to require repairs etc. I've been looking at EV mowers and the LM model you bought seems to get the best overall reviews. These are not cheap but my local Air Quality agency is offering $250 rebates so it's not too bad.
Thank you this is Actually one of my first videos when I started the channel, I hope you get a chance to see some of the newer videos it's amazing how these mowers have evolved
@@TechMadeEzy Thanks the big issue is if you are a first time user things aren't easy to understand. When do you mulch, why do you use the bag or not the bag? When do you have to use the chute attachment an so forth? Some things aren't easy for everyone.
Wow, love the comparison between the old and NEW*. Your explanation just won me over on this Ego. I have been researching other models/brand, but this one seems to be the clear winner for my usage.
I just bought the 2020 mower, trimer, and blower. So far I love the mower and it does a better job than me. I am older and have to sit down 5 times just to mow my tiny lawn. It is not because of the weight of the mower because the mower is not that heavy. Pleased with my purchase and I watched a lot of video's before buying it.
Hi Kid, Long term I hope you are happy with your purchase as I am, I just picked up the blower and the trimmer as well. I will be posting more videos and doing some more tests, here is my get off gas playlist if you want to see some again thanks for your comment ua-cam.com/play/PLdfhMMMBbtuhqhCl0ODYaUJXA7EHR5Y5V.html
Thanks for the video! I too have the older one you pictured but without the self propelled. I really like the dual blade design though so I ordered it and figured out how to install it on the older model. The mower now runs at a higher speed all the time and the dual blade cuts like butter! I love ego!
Very good demo. I learned a few things. I have owned and used the older model Ego for about 5 years. I also own the trimmer and blower. Both of them are very effective pieces of lawn equipment. I might just look into buying the newer model in the near future. So, your demo. was very helpful.
I have the older model. It has very impressive battery life and charging speed. I want the new one after seeing all the improvements. My only addition / wish is to have the bag size increased. I have a very large front and back yard and cant imagine mulching that much grass back into the lawn. Its cool to see an already impressive mower become even better... I now have the 630cfm blower, lawn edger, and 18" chain saw by EGO... Nothing but good things to say so far.
Thanks for watching my video Juston I did update the video a little, I will leave a link below I also did a few comparisons of the Greenworks Pro and Kobalt so I will include my get off gas Playlist link also Updated video ua-cam.com/video/heB_czTJrK4/v-deo.html Get off gas Playlist ua-cam.com/play/PLdfhMMMBbtuhqhCl0ODYaUJXA7EHR5Y5V.html Have a happy new year
One thing to add about the brushless motor. Not only are there no brushes to replace but it’s more efficient than a brushed motor. A good brushless motor can run at 90-95% efficiency compared to 65-75% for brushed. So less heat, more power, and longer run time.
Agustin, I try, I’ve watched many youtube videos and I don’t have expensive equipment and honestly I want my channel to relate to normal average people. What do you think of the EGO line?
Good comparison video. Maybe you can do a follow up after your first cut to see if there’s any real difference in the cut? Both bagging and quality of mulch.....and if it’s worth it to upgrade
More videos to come it’s been raining a lot lately I normally don’t let my grass grow too high but I’ll be posting some additional videos to give you guys a little more insight I appreciate the comment. Be safe
I owned the old one for six years and decided to purchase the new one. I replaced the blade to heavier blade on the older one. We did side- by-side comparison and so no difference. So returned the new one. Keep in mind that after each use lubricate the blade and wipe free (makes a huge difference in each cut). Also make sure that you do not tilt the mower upward which shows uneven cut. Change the blade each season. The battery will last much longer if you do not run it out of charge. Do not leave the battery in the mower compartment. Keep it separate when not in use. Do not over charge. Keep mower inside. Retired Experience Lawnmower Service Tech. I also changed the wheels to get higher cuts (6 inches of precision lawn / no weeds in over 15 years). Use only Milorganite Fertilizer every other month (soil retention) / Potassium hose supplement 3x a year. Follow this method and your neighbors will envy your lawn. Stays green yearly.
Lou great stuff appreciate you sharing, always good to have someone with your experience on here! I hope you subscribe. I might reach out to you and ask you a few things if that’s ok. Again thank you 👍🏼
I love the ego mower, I would never have a gas again. No fluid smells no cranking it to get it started in the winter, had it for years and always starts with a touch of a button . The battery only takes a half an hour to charge and by that time you're ready for a rest anyway.
Hi Marty welcome to the channel, thanks for your comment. I agree so far I’m still impressed, funny part I actually look foreword to doing lawn work when I use EGO products, I never felt that way with my Toro or Honda for some reason. Anyway thanks !
I'm just about to pull the trigger on a mower purchase for our first home. I have it narrowed down to this model and a Honda gas model. One thing holding me back on this model is the insane cost of a battery. I planned on getting an extra one to go with the added trimmer, edger tool as well. $350 is just too steep atm for a battery. Gotta decide on one soon. Decisions, decisions...
It’s 100% your decision, just think long term, save on gas, no trouble starting it up, no oil, no having to remove the gas at the end of the season. Less noise, better for the environment. But good luck and let me know what you decide.
Hi Martin even if you get the older model you’ll probably save a couple of bucks and it works just fine definitely get the self-propelled if it’s going to be for your dad. Be safe
Thanks. I have the "Old" model. It's a great mower. Glad to see they made the throttle work on both sides/hands. The fuel gauge is nice but the red/green indicator on mine is fine. My only complaint, which they didn't address apparently, is the handle must be fully extended to operate. I wish it would operate at any position. My reason is I store it in a shed. Maneuvering it into the shed, and storing it in the limited space, would be fine if I could shorten the handle just a few inches. I would then not have to ever extend the handle which not only would save me a step but also would reduce wear. The other thing that bothers me is when I turn off the self-propelled feature and try to pull the mower backward it is still engaged with the drive mechanism and the rear wheels won't turn. I have to first push it forward a few inches, then I can pull it back. After almost a year of use this still bothers me. I also recently bought the 15" EGO trimmer which is a great tool. It is easily as good as the gas engine model it replaced. Now I have two batteries and two chargers.
John I don’t know if it’s my mower but the fuel gauge actually doesn’t work, also when I turn off self propel for a moment it is hard to pull back but then after that it’s fine.
What a great point about the battery. Darn, i just bought a second battery for $355 and could have bought a trimmer for the same price. Oh well, i guess i will still get a trimmer and blower then have 4 batteries. Lol
I like the side by side comparison. There's a cable hanging in front of the camera for a significant portion of the video so I left this on in the background and listened.
I really liked your video. I need to replace my Neuton battery powered mover which I’ve had for years and was on the fence with This Ego model. I’ve used the earlier edition that I borrowed from my mother in law but opted to get the newer model for myself. It’s a little pricey, and the additional battery is about 1/3 the cost of the mower but it’s the best option I ed seen so far for my 1/4 lot in Long Island. Cute dog by the way.
Hi Cindy welcome to the channel, let me know how I can help it if you have any specific questions on this or tech in anyway. I enjoy what I do and thanks for the compliment on Brooklyn she’s a great dog / family member 😊👍🏼
Love the comparison! I would love to see if there is any improvement in mulching performance over the original mower. Please do a video of both mulching grass at med/high deck height. Thank you!
I can't see how there would not be an improvement. If you mow your grass frequently and are only taking off 1/2"-1" then you won't see much of a difference between a 1 and 2 blade system, but if you are like most of us and are taking off 2" or more when cutting, there is a big improvement. While I do not have this particular mower, I went form a standard 1 blade mower to a Honda HRX 217 with the double blade a couple of years ago and the clippings are much smaller making bagging much easier and mulching much more effective.
Just opened the box of my new lawn mower. I enjoyed looking at the comparison video it was very informative; keep up the good work. I think I made the right choice for a back up mower to my Dixie Chopper.
I just bought mine last week and finally “put it together” lol. Either way I think I’m going to get the trimmer as well (tool only) since you can interchange batteries with all EGO power tools. I’ve had a greenworks 21” 40v mower and I was so fed up with little blades of grass left behind sticking up. Can’t wait to try this mower and give you an update on healthy thick grass. (It’s been raining and thundering for the past couple of days and I added weed and feed a week ago)
Thanks for your comment Pete, sorry I’ve been catching up with all the comments. Let me know how it does. And I just picked up a reconditioned trimmer and I’m impressed.
Tech Made Easy so I cut my grass after my last comment and wow am I impressed by the select cut ego mower. The double blade system left no grass blades standing up behind me and it really delivers power cutting through thick long grass. I was actually able to cut my lawn 1/3 acre with one full battery. The trimmer is heavier then expected and it will get getting used, other than that it’s definitely powerful. I love being able to swap batteries when needed.
Ryan I actually bought both the trimmer and the mower the same day. Now I’m thinking about getting the blower 650 but I’m not sure about the price. It’s definitely an investment but I’m not sure I need to spend that $300 for a blower.
EGO is a great brand if you want to go electric, it’s not cheap but you can get similar performance to a gas mower. Things to remember are... keep the blade sharp, keep it inside and out of the rain, store batteries inside, mow frequently in dry conditions. Battery powered mowers last 3-4 years, it can get quite expensive so stock up on batteries when you purchase it.... also keep in mind, they do bog down and stall in thick, wet or tall grass, keep the blade sharp and avoid poor conditions
Good review that has convinved me even more to buy this 2020 model as it will be my first electric mower . Very impressive technology . Good value that the package includes battery and charger plus accessories . I'm buying it this week plus the blower an d trimmer too. Thanks for the info . I'm sold .
This is going to be my first cordless lawn mower and what's even better I was going to purchase the model that cost $499 at home depot but instead I got this new model for $399 because they had a sale sign on it by accident and the store manager honored the price that was accidentally put on display. I've heard good things about this mower. I hope all of it is true
The Coldest welcome to the channel hey I am going to give you a link to a bunch of videos I’ve already done so you can learn a little bit more about the new mower you got congratulations! I also have some more videos coming up this Saturday, here is the link to my get off gas playlist to let me know what you think and if you have any questions about your new mower please let me know I’d be glad to help link ua-cam.com/play/PLdfhMMMBbtuhqhCl0ODYaUJXA7EHR5Y5V.html
Thanks. Good review. One thing I would have liked is to see/hear the mowers run. I've never had or seen a battery mower and would have liked to have seen it in operation.
I almost bought an EGO lef blower, but settled on one with a bit less power so as to abandon a nice Hitachi blower that became harder to start. I tired of mixing gasol/oil and driving to get ethanol-free fuel and cranking, and replacing a 'metering diaphragm' that would fit. A lithium blower is quiet, lasts plenty long, charges in 2 hours MAX and is comfy and light. I'll sell the Hitachi to a local tinkerer.
Hi Doug, There is a ryobi blower I love and use all the time. I’m probably going to do a video on my favorite lawn tools at some point. I tried a few ego blowers and go back to my ryobi, besides I don’t have a big property
After several years of "shop repair" to get the gas powered to start (elect. start was tempermental as well) I QUIT. Even this year, I had the mower tuned up and it still wouldn't start after the first mow, so I bought a used from a repair and yes it started then but didn't later. DONE DONE AND DONE. I broke down, researched and bought this "electric start" mower. I'm a single senior and have to depend on me so this constant pulling, never knowing how long it would take just to get it started sunk sum real funds into this mower. I couldn't be happier for 1. No oil, plugs changed 2. No running out of gas or 'bad gas" 3. Super easy clean up. 4. Storage space used only 1/4 5. I always know it will start and so can do my lawn when I only have an hr. 6. My yard is 1/4 acre and no problems with completion. 7 For once, my yard doesn't have that fresh mowed lawn dead grass stripes. Worth every penny for this fixed income woman.
Thanks appreciate the feedback, I have a few more videos in my get off gas playlist, and I will be doing more on the mower so stay tuned. Hope you subscribe
Nice video. Wish either EGO or HomeDepot had an exchange program from the older model to the newer one, of course the customer paying the difference. Only one critique though: True the mower is weather proof, but not water resistant. By spray washing the lower deck with water, some sensitive electrical parts are exposed to water, which also violates the warranty (see the manual).
I have both LM2100 and LM2102SP. The 2102SP is stuck on high speed self-propel, for quite a while. Saw a suggestion on the EGO Community board, will probably attempt to repair it myself. Stay safe.
I think my Ego from last year is also brushless with a steel deck, having the lever on both sides is nice. That's the only think I wish mine had. Hopefully my Ego will last a few years before I need to replace it. Nice having a mower that starts right up for the first mowing of the year. :)
I am considering the new Ego. My did Coco also had an acl problem. One leg went out first and she had surgery on that. While healing, she put her weight on the other and she tore the other acl. She had surgery on the other leg about a year later. She was about 5 years old when she had the first surgery . She did well after that for a few years but eventually developed arthritis in both knees,
I run ego mowers commercially, love them! duel battery mower is the best imo, not suppose to hose the mowers down, if water gets up under the central air vent it can get straight to the motor.
I just bought a new EGO mower last year, and overall I'm very pleased with it. The only thing I'm wondering about is the mulching quality of the new one vs the old. Also wondering if I can retro-fit the new blade onto the mower I bought from last year.
@@TechMadeEzy I have upgraded my LM2100sp with the new dual blade setup. It can be done with just the center bolt, but I added a little bracket with 2 screws for security. Does a much better job at bagging with a cleaner cut.
With the exception of the battery gauge and double blade I don't see any reason to upgrade from my older model which works great. I wonder if you can add the extra blade to an older model ? Thank you
Tony the old model is great honestly, it does what it needs to do. I’m not aware of anything that EGO supports but I have seen videos online with people showing two blades on the older model. Thank you for your comment
Mine broke at the end of last years season, I used it once again this week and then stop, seems a wire issue from folding and unfolding, waiting to hear from ego, but it is a great mower
Hi Forfinkly welcome to the channel, sorry to hear that , please let me know how it goes, I’m glad you have a 5 year warranty. This is my 2nd mower with EGO (select cut) so we will see how it goes, so far so good.
@@TechMadeEzyHi, I was able finally contact them and at first they wanted me to send it for repair but that is about 8 weeks wait, and here in Alaska that is pretty much most the summer we have, so they decide to just send a replacement, will definitely buy more of their products, now I want the newer model
Damp is similar to a gas mower from my experience, the premium bagging blade is my choice. I don’t let my grass grow that tall but if I have a chance I will do a test and make a note. I will say it hasn’t boggled down when my grass was taller which is nice. I was worried about that.
I'm into my second season with the 2101 5V. Not self propelled. It cuts great. These differences are just nitpicking. People that whine about the ego not cutting well just dont cut the grass regularly. If you want to cut high grass then you'll have problems with any mower
I OWN THE OLD MODEL NOT SELF PROPELLED HAS WORKED VERY WELL THINKING ABOUT UPGRADING TO THE NEW BRUSHLESS MOTOR AND DUAL BLADE MOWER! WOULD LIKE TO SEE A CUTTING DEMO BETWEEN THE OLD AND THE NEW MOWER! CAN YOU CONVERT THE OLD MOWER TO THE DUAL BLADE SYSTEM? GOOD VEIDO VERY INFORMATIVE!
Pat I sold my older model to pay for the new immediately after but I’ve had a few requests for that, I will try and get my hands on one down the road. Thanks for watching, much appreciated
Just purshaced one myself haven't used it yet. It came with a total of three blades I'm trying to figure out which one is for mulching & which one is for baging? Let me know if you know more about it please.
Hi Charles sorry I missed this comment, I did post a few videos about blades and a cut comparison , I have another one coming. If you can’t find the videos let me know and I’ll send you some links
How is new one with mulching and lift with leaves? I have a lot of trees and will need comparable mulch and lift/ bagging as my current gas powered Honda.
Nice video, but can you do a comparison of cut quality while mulching? I'm running the dual blades on your "older version", but would love to hear what you have to say about the newer one cut quality. The older one is a little low on power with the dual blades. Thanks!
Craig I wish, i’ve heard that from a few of you guys and I wish I didn’t sell the mower but I sold the older model to pay for the newer one immediately after. If I can get my hands on one I’ll definitely do the video thanks so much for your feedback
Tech Made Easy ,LM2100SP,heading for it's third season. Just replaced the original blade. Only use it in mulch mode, too bad the dual blades do not fit.
Much appreciate the comparison. I already have a full suite of EGO tools with interchangeable batteries so this mower is very enticing. I have been leaning towards a Honda HRX series mower because of its mulching prowess but an EGO mower would be so much more practical for me particularly because it is so simple to maintain. After you have used it a few weeks, would you mind commenting on its mulching ability versus the older model and any gas mowers that you have used? I would love to know how it does with leaves but unfortunately, Spring is not the best time to test leaf mulching! 😆
Hi Kenneth thanks for your note, I did post some test videos recently, also I purchased the high lift blade which should help create more vacuum to lift grass blades up and suck up leaves. I need to install that and test it.
How does the cut compare. I had the older model but even with the high lift blade and bag it left grass clipping stripes. The company really tried working with me so I will always recommend their products. I use their multi tool system but using my Honda mower.
Hi, Great video! I just bought the "new" model. I charged the battery to full prior to using. Installed the discharge chute with mulcher attachment. I have approximately 15,000 sqf. I have a couple issues with the battery giving the full 60 minute run time as advertised It seems I only got 25 minutes cutting time after a full charge which was super disappointing. I charged it fully to finish the rest of the lawn. I got approximately 30 minutes from the second charge, but was able to finish the lawn. The second issue was starting the mower. I did exactly as you showed to start the new model, and the motor did not kick right over. I had to keep releasing the handle, and then trying it like three or four times until it decided to kick over. I am wondering if there is something wrong with the connections somewhere as this should kick right over. Any input would b greatly helpful, but otherwise I just love the way it mulches the grass whcih saves me so much time not having to bag. Thank you in advance. Good luck with your beautiful dog!
Hi christina thank you for watching my video and make sure you see the new one that just launched today for the new model. Keep in mind it’s really all about what you’re mowing, if it’s a light load then you should get 60 minutes with a 10 amp hour battery if it’s a heavy load I believe you should be getting around 30 to 40 minutes, The user manual Gives you some sample times depending on the load. I hope this helps message me back if you need more information As far as starting it, you press the green button then pull the bar it starts and you let go of the green button and hold the green bar. Let me know if that helps
Bought an EGO LM2156SP, self-propelled XP Select Cut mower and returned it 2 mows later. The self-propel function is quirky and inconsistent. The lag from when you pull the bar is long, the jerkiness and sudden surges suck (you get wheelies) and the max speed is way too low. It sometimes jerked forward when I was pulling it backwards. I also find the green button/bars to start it moving are too small and too recessed. The battery life was also disappointing. I ordered the tool only and my existing 5 amp battery only got the mower through 25 minutes of mowing. I know it comes with a 7.5 amp battery, but this 5 amp battery powered my old EGO (not self-propelled) for 50 minutes. Not apples to apples, I know, but unacceptable. Bought a Honda HRX. I do love the EGO blowers, hedge clippers and snow blowers, though.
I’m gonna be honest with you, i’m the kind of guy that ends up buying the newer model especially because there are newer features but it really isn’t a huge difference between the old model and a new model when it really comes down to simple mowing.
Joe yes to my knowledge, the premium mulching blade and the lower blade are pre installed and the premium bagging blade is in the box. Did you buy one?
Just purchased the older model (LM2102SP) but haven't used it yet. I wasn't aware there was a "newer" model??? Like the double blade upgrade. Control location/function changes don't appear to be a major problem. Currently, use a WORX 19-inch push mower that's 5-years old and runs like a top - just bought a new blade, so I'll use the WORX mower for light trimming and the EGO mower for the heavy lifting. If you never owned a battery-operated mower/trimmer/blower, you don't know what you're missing!
Well everyone i bought one today 2020 model LM2135SP and I just want to say thanks to this channel. Everything he said is on point. The features on it is very user friendly, easy compact for storage. The torque on it is fast and i had to turn it down and get used to it. For the price and money is worth it because what include the 7.5amp battery and rapid charger. If you buy separately...it still going to cost about same unless you smaller battery. Overall I'm very happy with this product. I got the ego mower, ego carbon fiber trimmer, and last ego 650cfm blower. My husqvarna awd mower it still cuts but the awd transmission is broken. So I'm selling that one. No more gasoline to mower. Ladies and gentlemens. If your first time buyer on the ego mower. Get the brand new one. If you spending 350 or 450 for used ones... you might as well spend extra 200.00 for 2020 model with dual blade cutting system. Thank you again for this channel you got my support and subscribe!!!
Absolutely no reason to waste 200.00 dollars on dual blade. The handle placement is non functional. And the review is incorrect about starting and one handed operation. You can lower handle on both the same according to your comfort. Being a home depot supervisor I am well aware of the difference between each product. Save your money buy what you want.
Very interested in seeing you mow with this new mower. Please post a video of that. I'm in the market of buying a new mower this year and was interested in getting this one. I would love to see how it works for you. Thanks. P.S. Love Brooklyn.
Hi Arlene thank you for you comment. I’ll share a link with you below I actually did a sample cut the other day you’ll find it in my playlist I’m also gonna come up with some other videos give me some time definitely showing cuts, some other good news Brooklyn had her surgery today and the doctor called me a few hours after the surgery to let me know she did very well I’ll be picking her up tomorrow morning. ua-cam.com/play/PLdfhMMMBbtuhqhCl0ODYaUJXA7EHR5Y5V.html
Do you think the new mower is good to get and powerful also is the better life on a single charge and lastly how about the plastic deck does it concern you
Hi Andy so far I’ve seen good power out of the machine I will be doing some tests and posting some videos with higher grass. EGO makes the best batteries from what I’ve seen so far I’m very impressed I’ve been using EGO for at least two years so far so give it some time we’ll see. Having a plastic deck really doesn’t concern me. Thanks for your comment if you have any other questions let me know I’ll do my best to get you answers
$636 OTD And an extra batt is $370 OTD. There went $ 1,000 for a walk behind mower I wonder ? Whats the motor rpm and wattage useage ? Perhaps the motor is marked ? ALl eMower Mfgr's should openly declare these two specs instead of hiding them. Smart consumers need / deserve to know. Suggestion: They should make the rpm easily adjustable by the user when approaching areas of extra tall/thick grass beforehand instead of waiting on the mower to spool up. Perhaps a Throttle Auto/Manual Selector Switch ?
James I think we can all agree, I just am really enjoying being off gas and on an electric mower I’m having a great experience so far. I have no major issues. If you have some time take a look at my get off gas playlist below but in the meantime if you have any specific questions I can answer definitely let me know I’d be glad to help be safe ua-cam.com/play/PLdfhMMMBbtuhqhCl0ODYaUJXA7EHR5Y5V.html
Tech Made Easy i can't wait until early next year Ego is supposed to be releasing a swappable battery zero turn mower. Its closest feature/price competitor is the Ryobi electric zero turn mower with 12v 100ah mounted lead-acid battery with bagger kit for $4,400 at Home Depot.
We've been talking about it, here is the teaser video I put together, see below. I hope it's not going to be too expensive but we will see, ua-cam.com/video/nzLR8TNRMjY/v-deo.html
Here is the Home Depot link www.homedepot.com/p/EGO-21-in-Select-Cut-56V-Lith-Ion-Cordless-Electric-Walk-Behind-Self-Propelled-Mower-7-5-Ah-Battery-and-Charger-Included-LM2135SP/311174493
Hi Brent welcome to the channel I agree with you these batteries are pretty heavy and be kind of cool to have a little handle that you could just pull up
Does the new on have regen braking? Thanks for pointing out the differences, i see my local stores carry the older one at a heafty price.. the new one has some QL improvements
Hi S Carter thanks for your note, no Regenerative breaking, actually no brakes at all, just let go of the lever and she stops or don't use self propel as I don't, (good exercise), check home depot also some times they have sales, or ACE hardware. Best of luck and let me know what you do if that's possible 👍🏻
I like the cut the second blade definitely helps I have to say it really helps more with cutting up the grass after the initial cut mulching has improved
I have noticed that Im getting more straggler blades, or grass blades that got missed by the blade this year vs last year. Now I have just sharpened my blade and havent used it yet, but I did notice that after just several months last year of use. Its almost like there's not enough vacuum that pulls the grass up to be cut. Have you noticed that...and maybe the stronger motor might have cured that..?
Honestly I wish the old model and the new model had better vacuum. That surely one of the strengths of a gas mower. I have to do some more research but we’ll see thanks for your comment I hope you subscribed
I mulch my grass and was noticing a lot of grass blades not being cut with the original blade. I purchased the bagging blade and the situation although not 100% better has improved significantly. Some say that runtime decreases with the bagging blade but I have not noticed that. My yard is approximately a 1/4 acre and I have the 7.5 amp battery. There is normally enough juice left in the battery to use with my blower afterward.
How long does it run in actual use? How long does the old one run with it’s degraded battery in actual use? Why did you buy the new one? Battery life & degradation is the one critical downside of A battery vs gas mowers and you don’t even address it! I’d love that info!
Awesome, thanks! Was thinking about purchasing a regular EGO 21" mower. Although I own a Select Cut and cut yards with it as a side-hustle, it has recently broken down on me. And I saw a deal on the regular 21" on Marketplace, so may spring for it today. Brooklyn is a good girl! BTW, why did you name her Brooklyn?
Elvira all you have to do is sharpen your blades every year depending on how often you mow and how big your property is, and charge your batteries that's really it 🙂 I hope you subscribe, here is a link for my other mower videos to give you some tips and insight, good luck and let me know if I can help ua-cam.com/play/PLdfhMMMBbtuhqhCl0ODYaUJXA7EHR5Y5V.html
Thanks RBG, welcome to the channel I’d be glad to answer any questions I don’t know everything but I surely would do some research, check out my playlist below it’ll have more videos ua-cam.com/play/PLdfhMMMBbtuhqhCl0ODYaUJXA7EHR5Y5V.html
One thing I noticed about the 2015 push mower versus the 2021 push model is that even the lowest blade setting on the 2021 is about 1” or so higher than the 2015. Makes me wonder if it is because of the optional second blade.
I was unaware of that Bill, many want to mow lower and ego doesn’t go lower than 1 , I never go lower than setting 3 which is 2 inches I believe. Thanks for sharing
Tech Made Easy I actually did have a question. So I noticed the handle on the left side allows you to adjust the height... how do you tell how many inches of cutting you get with each level? Does each level correspond to an inch of cutting? What level do you usually cut your grass at? Thanks
Hi Jigar, No they don’t honestly, I use 4 with the premium bagging blade and I can go down to 3 with the premium mulching blade. I don’t like to make it too short to protect it from damage
Updated Video comparing them both AGAIN, even more detail

I just bought the new EGO you showed. What a great machine, so much lighter and quieter than my old craftsman gas mower. Cuts as good as any mower I’ve owned.
We just bought our first house. I finally convinced the husband to look at electric mowers. . We were on the fence on which model to get. Thank you for making our decision even easier
My pleasure I love this thing, I hope you subscribe. Have a great night
@@SCraig-Handsome s
Im a single mom and just purchase my first home and thank you so much for this review this mower is expensive but worth it for me because having to pay for lawn care is too expensive over a period of time plus this is more easier for me maintain alone instead of a gas lawnmower. Be blessed
My pleasure L L let me know if you have any other questions and enjoy the purchase it’ll be well worth it.
If you are going to spend the money get a LM2135sp or this one that is just launching link is below

Thank you for the video. I have the 2156 model that I bought last spring and my EGO Brushless mower is the king. I don’t believe I’ll ever go back to a gas engine.
Thanks, definitely check out my get off gas Playlist for newer videos and head to head videos
I have both as I bought the old one 2 yrs ago and just had to get the new one when it came out. The upgrades are great! More power and easier to push with all controls more accessible.
Shout out to Brooklyn! Hope she's feeling better.
Thanks Scott
I have the older model and i love iit!!! I have also the hedge trimmer, weed trimmer, blower and just ordered the pole saw. Really love their tools and the quietness of their motors. My neighbors can’t believe they are battery run.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks!
I agree with you I was tempted and I did it because I was able to do it but the old model was just fine the cut quality and everything
Thanks for the video. I just got my first house this winter and will be getting this 2020 mower as my first mower!
Thanks Michael let me know how it goes if you have any questions let me know I’d be glad to help as much as I can. Be safe
@orion I think so based on my use and how it’s worked for me. I’ve posted a few more videos and I have more coming. Hope it helps
Nice. I have the old model you’ve shown and it’s a bit over 4 years old and never missed a beat. I love it.
It’s a good model thanks for your note
They're nice mowers. I replaced my Craftsman 7.25 Briggs and Stratton mower with the 2135sp. Very happy with the purchase. No more clearing the floater and wasting time to get the mower up and running.
One thing I realized is that you're paying pretty much for the battery and charger. The mower costed me 50 bucks after factoring in the price of the two mentioned items.
Zeron welcome to the channel I hope you subscribed and Wow you are 100% right the 7.5ah battery sells for $350
Good summary. I've had a Sears gas powered model for 23 years and its done a good job but it's getting old and starting
to require repairs etc.
Just bought one. Some of the instructions aren't clear on the manual on the operation. Thanks for posting this.
If you have any questions let me know
@@TechMadeEzy Thanks the big issue is if you are a first time user things aren't easy to understand. When do you mulch, why do you use the bag or not the bag? When do you have to use the chute attachment an so forth? Some things aren't easy for everyone.
@88musk hi I understand and I’d be glad to help as much as I can, shoot me some questions when you have time.
I will be posting more videos and doing some more tests, here is my get off gas playlist if you want to see some again thanks for your comment

Thanks for the video! I too have the older one you pictured but without the self propelled. I really like the dual blade design though so I ordered it and figured out how to install it on the older model. The mower now runs at a higher speed all the time and the dual blade cuts like butter! I love ego!
Thanks Matt
Are you saying the dual blades will fit my original Ego?
Hi Leo no I don’t think so, I haven’t tried but I don’t think it will. Sorry I didn’t get a notification you replied
Very good demo. I learned a few things. I have owned and used the older model Ego for about 5 years. I also own the trimmer and blower. Both of them are very effective pieces of lawn equipment. I might just look into buying the newer model in the near future. So, your demo. was very helpful.
Thank you James if you have anymore questions or comments definitely let me know. Be safe
Thanks for watching my video Juston I did update the video a little, I will leave a link below I also did a few comparisons of the Greenworks Pro and Kobalt so I will include my get off gas Playlist link also

One thing to add about the brushless motor. Not only are there no brushes to replace but it’s more efficient than a brushed motor. A good brushless motor can run at 90-95% efficiency compared to 65-75% for brushed. So less heat, more power, and longer run time.
Thanks Mark welcome to the channel appreciate the input, thanks to advances in technology.
Great audio quality for it being windy, I wish more people knew your methods for recording. Great video as well! Thank you
Agustin, I try, I’ve watched many youtube videos and I don’t have expensive equipment and honestly I want my channel to relate to normal average people.
Hi Daniel thanks for watching I agree I love battery operated and ego makes it easy with the 1 battery that works for everything
I have the ego mower even older than the one you have, still going strong.
Looking at these for my older dad soon , the updated 2020 looks like a winner .
Cheers from Adelaide Australia
Sorry about that I noticed that after I uploaded it, i’m still new at this but I’m getting better each time I appreciate your feedback.
I have the older one and it works well. Had it for almost 4 years!
I keep hearing great things about ego quality, thanks for sharing D Wilson
While I do not have this particular mower, I went form a standard 1 blade mower to a Honda HRX 217 with the double blade a couple of years ago and the clippings are much smaller making bagging much easier and mulching much more effective.
thanks appreciate the feedback
Just opened the box of my new lawn mower. I enjoyed looking at the comparison video it was very informative; keep up the good work. I think I made the right choice for a back up mower to my Dixie Chopper.
Thank you be safe
I just bought mine last week and finally “put it together” lol. Either way I think I’m going to get the trimmer as well (tool only) since you can interchange batteries with all EGO power tools. I’ve had a greenworks 21” 40v mower and I was so fed up with little blades of grass left behind sticking up. Can’t wait to try this mower and give you an update on healthy thick grass. (It’s been raining and thundering for the past couple of days and I added weed and feed a week ago)
Pete Ross You’ll love the trimmer. The Rapid Reload is Amazing!
I had a Worx 56 volt mower and it cut grass terribly the same way as your Greenworks.
Great advice SCraig thank you
Thanks for showing the differences. I'll definitely be buying the newer model.
Glad to help
Good review that has convinved me even more to buy this 2020 model as it will be my first electric mower . Very impressive technology . Good value that the package includes battery and charger plus accessories . I'm buying it this week plus the blower an d trimmer too. Thanks for the info . I'm sold .

This is going to be my first cordless lawn mower and what's even better I was going to purchase the model that cost $499 at home depot but instead I got this new model for $399 because they had a sale sign on it by accident and the store manager honored the price that was accidentally put on display. I've heard good things about this mower. I hope all of it is true

I couldn't be happier for
1. No oil, plugs changed
2. No running out of gas or 'bad gas"
3. Super easy clean up.
4. Storage space used only 1/4
5. I always know it will start and so can do my lawn when I only have an hr.
6. My yard is 1/4 acre and no problems with completion.
7 For once, my yard doesn't have that fresh mowed lawn dead grass stripes.
Worth every penny for this fixed income woman.
Thanks so much for sharing Marybett
Please stay in touch and let me know how it goes 👍🏼
Awesome review! I'm sold! I will get one to replace the Ryobi mower!

Great video. You just sold me on the big switch to Electric!! Thanks!!!
Thanks Jordan stay in touch and let me know how it goes or if you have any questions.
Thanks X, yeah I don’t spray the deck anymore you are right. Thanks for the comments. What model do you have?
I have both LM2100 and LM2102SP. The 2102SP is stuck on high speed self-propel, for quite a while. Saw a suggestion on the EGO Community board, will probably attempt to repair it myself. Stay safe.
Good luck X let me know how it goes, be safe
I think my Ego from last year is also brushless with a steel deck, having the lever on both sides is nice. That's the only think I wish mine had. Hopefully my Ego will last a few years before I need to replace it. Nice having a mower that starts right up for the first mowing of the year. :)
Steven I totally agree and yeah I do believe that one has brushless. Thanks for watching, hope you subscribe
I am considering the new Ego.
My did Coco also had an acl problem. One leg went out first and she had surgery on that. While healing, she put her weight on the other and she tore the other acl. She had surgery on the other leg about a year later. She was about 5 years old when she had the first surgery . She did well after that for a few years but eventually developed arthritis in both knees,
Sorry to hear Lowell, I’m all in with this girl she’s such a beautiful soul. Thanks for sharing.
I run ego mowers commercially, love them! duel battery mower is the best imo, not suppose to hose the mowers down, if water gets up under the central air vent it can get straight to the motor.
appreciate the feedback
Thanks for the tip, I just purchased a used one and was about to hose it down, thanks for the save
Nice Anthony congrats and enjoy, stay in touch let me know how it goes

Excited to get an electric mower now. Thanks for the video!
Thank you and good luck, stay in touch and let me know if you have any questions
Nice review. I have the older model and am happy with it, but it's nice to know they are making their products better.
Thanks James
I just bought a new EGO mower last year, and overall I'm very pleased with it. The only thing I'm wondering about is the mulching quality of the new one vs the old. Also wondering if I can retro-fit the new blade onto the mower I bought from last year.
Mulching quality has definitely improved due to having 2 blades, I haven’t seen an option to update the old model with dual blades myself
Well I’m glad they thought about that, Thanks for sharing the good news stay in touch
thanks for showing us the differences. How does the new one cut grass which is damp and between 6-8" tall?
Damp is similar to a gas mower from my experience, the premium bagging blade is my choice. I don’t let my grass grow that tall but if I have a chance I will do a test and make a note. I will say it hasn’t boggled down when my grass was taller which is nice. I was worried about that.
I'm into my second season with the 2101 5V. Not self propelled. It cuts great. These differences are just nitpicking. People that whine about the ego not cutting well just dont cut the grass regularly. If you want to cut high grass then you'll have problems with any mower
Agree, old or new model you are right.
whats the maintanance on this thing....do you have change air filters or oil every year?
No Bruce
I've had mine (old model) over 3 years, no maintenance other than I sharpen the blade once a year. Still working perfectly.
Thanks Dom, yup these are good machines and I enjoy using them
Rotate the tires monthly.
Ego is bad ass and I'm a Worx guy love this mower nice review
Thanks Kevin I also enjoy worx innovation but yes I’m an ego fan now, I even have the ego snow blower.
@@TechMadeEzy nice I might have to look into that myself
Thanks Kevin stay in touch
How is new one with mulching and lift with leaves? I have a lot of trees and will need comparable mulch and lift/ bagging as my current gas powered Honda.
Not good Kim honestly, suction is ok. I will know more this fall but from what I’ve done with this my Honda does a better job sucking up.
I hope you subscribe 😊
I have the older one and i love it but hate the side discharge it gets clogged easy.
Hi Dave, I never bother with that, I either mulch or a bag. Side discharge is just too messy on any mower from what I’ve seen.
@@TechMadeEzy
I never thought about the mulch attachment. I'll give it a try next time i cut my back yard, thanks.
Does the new deck handle allow getting closer to some spots? Posts maybe?
Yes the front of the mower was redesigned so you can get a few inches closer, especially around posts.
What mower do you have KSW?
Tech Made Easy ,LM2100SP,heading for it's third season. Just replaced the original blade. Only use it in mulch mode, too bad the dual blades do not fit.
They make good machines for sure, I’m impressed.
Cut quality seems a little better, I wish I did a cut comparison before I sold the old model. If I get a hold of one I will.
I just got the new one today so excited
Congrats best of luck
Mines the older one and I just LOVE IT!!!
They make a good product
I hope this helps message me back if you need more information
As far as starting it, you press the green button then pull the bar it starts and you let go of the green button and hold the green bar.
Let me know if that helps
Don't you push the button then pull the handle? I don't have the mower , but I do have the Ego snow blower and that is how you start it.
Thanks for sharing your experience
I have the original Ego mower. I am really, really tempted to upgrade.
I’m gonna be honest with you, i’m the kind of guy that ends up buying the newer model especially because there are newer features but it really isn’t a huge difference between the old model and a new model when it really comes down to simple mowing.
Just wondering when u get the new one of out of the box are the dual blades already torque down?
Joe yes to my knowledge, the premium mulching blade and the lower blade are pre installed and the premium bagging blade is in the box. Did you buy one?
@@TechMadeEzy I'm going to buy one. And power head with string trimmer, edger, and hedge trimmer.
Cool let me know how it goes
Just purchased the older model (LM2102SP) but haven't used it yet. I wasn't aware there was a "newer" model??? Like the double blade upgrade. Control location/function changes don't appear to be a major problem. Currently, use a WORX 19-inch push mower that's 5-years old and runs like a top - just bought a new blade, so I'll use the WORX mower for light trimming and the EGO mower for the heavy lifting. If you never owned a battery-operated mower/trimmer/blower, you don't know what you're missing!
Bob you’ll definitely enjoy the EGO it’s made well
Well everyone i bought one today 2020 model LM2135SP and I just want to say thanks to this channel.
Lucky thanks so much, I don’t know everything but all I can be is humble and honest.

There went $ 1,000 for a walk behind mower
I wonder ?
If you have some time take a look at my get off gas playlist below but in the meantime if you have any specific questions I can answer definitely let me know I’d be glad to help be safe

Where did you purchased the new model? Home Depot only shows the old model. Thanks
Here is the Home Depot link

Of course they come out with a better model the year after I buy one!
Still a solid machine Joseph also the LM2156sp is pricey at $750
Nice improvements. Love my Ego. The battery needs a handle to make it easier to pick up.
Hi Brent welcome to the channel I agree with you these batteries are pretty heavy and be kind of cool to have a little handle that you could just pull up
Is it possible that the front handle has been moved back to allow the cut to be closer to the front part of the deck?
Possibly, I sold the older model already but I should have measured that, thanks Doug
Hope the dogs doing well! Thank you for the video good stuff
Michael thank you she's close to 100% healed after the surgery. Thanks for your kind words, hope you are a subscriber 👍🏻
@@TechMadeEzy here in Australia we have to wait a lot for newer gadgets. I was looking at mowers it's between this and a manual powered reel mower :)
Australia is beautiful, you are very lucky
Either read or heard on UA-cam that you shouldn't hose the bottom of the mower. Btw, you did an awesome review! Nice work 👌
Thanks Todd, I’m going to look into that more, I’ve don’t that for years and let it dry out but I will look into it for sure
I hose mine after every use and it still looks brand new,had it for 2 years and mow once a week.
How’s the cut difference? Thanks for the video.
Thanks Richard I’m going to try the high lift blade soon myself
How long does it run in actual use?
How long does the old one run with it’s degraded battery in actual use?
Why did you buy the new one? Battery life & degradation is the one critical downside of A battery vs gas mowers and you don’t even address it! I’d love that info!
Thanks Mike, hopefully I can do those down the road, I can’t address everything but over time I can hopefully. Sorry this wasn’t helpful to you.
Thanks Jamal, good to see you!
Wow that was our 1st lawn mower video! Brings back memories
I'm from Brooklyn so that's why we named her Brooklyn
How is maintenance? I am first time buyer lawn mower. Thanks
Elvira all you have to do is sharpen your blades every year depending on how often you mow and how big your property is, and charge your batteries that's really it 🙂 I hope you subscribe, here is a link for my other mower videos to give you some tips and insight, good luck and let me know if I can help

Brooklyn is absolutely adorable!
Thank you she means a lot to me and she’s healing very well she had a surgery recently.
Looks like the handle is more center so when you pick it up its balanced
Thanks Wolfpak I'm definitely enjoying the select cut model, still works great. What do you have?
Thank you for the video. I just picked up the new ego mower! Looking forward to using it this summer!
Jigar thank you, let me know if you have any questions I love mine
Tech Made Easy I actually did have a question. So I noticed the handle on the left side allows you to adjust the height... how do you tell how many inches of cutting you get with each level? Does each level correspond to an inch of cutting?
What level do you usually cut your grass at? Thanks
Hi Jigar, No they don’t honestly, I use 4 with the premium bagging blade and I can go down to 3 with the premium mulching blade. I don’t like to make it too short to protect it from damage
I’m working on some new videos using different blades at different heights bagging and some with no bag
