Lightweight is good and what did I use it for it’s a lawnmower ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxTPN04aT-Qdjr_KS3ql7ng8wnU3wwsCqk also recommend Yes it is lightweight so hence not as robust as our old one. But if you take care it does the job really well.

Bought this a few months ago from my Honda gas mower and haven’t looked back. Cleaner, fairly maintenance free, and not as noisy. My neighbors never know I’m cutting my grass anymore. The storage of the mower is also great because I can stand it up and not have to worry about gas spilling out.

Tony Brown cuts great but I’ve only had it for a few months. One thing I read online is that sharpening the blade once or twice a year will keep the cut consistent.

You mentioned that you don't know why other mowers don't have a single point height adjustment like the EGO, I'll tell you one reason. If your lawn is really over grown one way to get through it is to raise the front wheels higher than the back wheels, the mower will not bog down as often or at all if you mow slowly enough.
95% of the time you will mow with all wheels level but there are times you may need to adjust them differently.
Your Lawn looks great, nice cross cut, good fertilization and watering.
Please don't tell anyone how great the weather is here!

I bought an ego/self propelled yesterday and cut with it for the first time today. The mower is great. I have a 1/4 acre approx 9k to 10k square ft of cuttable grass. This thing cuts like a champ. So far I am happy with my purchase. 👍👍👍👍

I gave up gas and AC corded garden equipment in 2011. I no longer have a gas can, 2-cycle oil, spark plugs, air filters, or pull-to-start ropes at my house any longer. The battery-electric tools are all instant start, quiet, smoke free, and sized for the job. I won't go back ever again.
I have COPD and run out of breath just walking fast. I have a small front lawn with a small hill in the middle that was becoming difficult for me to mow. I had a Black and Decker battery powered mower for 8 years that worked fine. But I needed a self-propelled version so I bought the EGO (last year's model) which completely solved my problem. The thing is my 10 year old son likes the EGO so much he mows the lawn before I get around to doing it.

I am going on year three with mine. So far I have had one battery die, and had to have the mower unit replaced because the electronics went out on the drive control. Home depot repair personnel commented that roughly 1 in 2 or 1 in 3 of these units fails in the warranty period. I really wanted to like this equipment, purchased a full set. Tired of gas mower maintenance. Not overly pleased with it all told. If you have regularly maintained short grass, it will do a nice job. If it is longer you might not like the results. Would i buy one again? Not without assurances that the operating problems I experienced are fixed. Biggest gripe: Mower speed control. When the mower encounters thicker grass it speeds up. It does this unfortunately way to late. If there was a mower speed over ride that would allow you to manually ramp it up that would be the best option (with the understanding that the battery would drain sooner). It makes the mower somewhat unuseable in thicker grass (more so when you need to trim around things than straight line as the mower slows down immediately when it senses lower loading with shorter grass). This unit does not do a good job with leaves and or pickup either. I purchased the high lift blade which helps tremendously but does not do anywhere near as well as a traditional gas mower. If you use your mower to deal with leaves, look elsewhere, you will be disappointed.

Got one a few weeks ago to replace a 25 yr old Briggs and Stratton. At first I was suspect that it couldn’t cut as well as the old Briggs. How can a mower so quiet with hardly any vibration mow the grass any good? Well, it does! Like a hot knife through butter. It’s so light and maneuverable compared to the gas mower that it saves me time getting the job done. I am totally happy with my EGO. No more gas, oil or smelling like gas fumes when I’m done.

Great video! And a great demonstration of an amazing machine. I just bought one with a bit of trepidation, but am finding it to be a great replacement for my old Toro. My Toro weighed 80 pounds... the Ego weighs 55, but it seems like it’s less than half the weight of the Toro. Easy to use one-handed on the flats, and you can crank the speed up to where you’re hustling to keep up with it.
I live on crazy hilly land, with a lot of challenging areas in my yard. This mower is so easy to maneuver... you can move it around easily without even using the self propel, and can mow easily as well that way if you want to extend battery life.
Still not sure about a plastic mower, but Ego has shown me that they know how to engineer materials so I trust their choices (I already own their string trimmer, hedge trimmer, leaf blower, pole saw, edger and chain saw).
The single biggest fault for the machine in my mind is that a replacement 7Ah battery costs $350. But all my Ego batteries are still going strong, and some are 3 years old. They’ve got the best battery and charger tech out there. All in all, an amazing machine, and a great review!

What a beautiful area you live in, that view of the mountains is something else. So, it looks like suction is an issue even with the double blades and you cutting low. I purchased the Ego push mower last year with the 5.0 AH battery and found issues on the higher settings even with the high lift blade which I purchased towards the end of the mowing season last year. What I noticed was that with the stock blade, from the #3 setting and above the suction was not good it would mat down the grass, the high lift blade helps a bit and I can mow at the #3 setting, though if the grass is even damp it won't lift the grass blades...the #4 setting with the high lift blade is ok but the grass has to be very dry for it to cut well. My issue is my backyard because its low lying and its very humid so the grass in the shady areas (between the my house and my neighbors and the area along the fence) tends to stay damp. I had an old Lawn Boy where matted down grass was never an issue but it is with the Ego, which stinks because overall I love it for the 5000 sq. ft of lawn that I do have.

I LOVE my Ego lawn equipment. I started with the blower a long time ago and about a year ago, I purchased the non self-propelled mower, weed wacker and chain saw. I could not be happier with every tool. They are amazing, hold a great charge and three out of four of them use the same battery (mower takes a larger battery). I will never go back to the pain of fuel mixing, having to refill the can, deal with bad gas, the smell of gas and the danger of gas fumes and engine trouble. Lego My Ego :)

I bought a EGO push mower back in 2015. Now in year 6 (and out of warranty), it would cost over $300 to repair …. So I just spent $399 on a new 2021 EGO push mower. But I’ve noticed that the 2021 mower does not cut as low as the 2015 did, and I suspect it is because the 2021’s single blade is higher up because it can accept a 2nd blade below the first one. One thing is for sure - spending $150 for the self-propulsion and higher wattage battery seems silly because it is so easy to push and the 5-amp battery runs for almost an hour and recharges in 20 minutes.

I passed on The Ego 3 years ago for a Toro Super Recycler. That mower was $499.99 while The Ego was $550.00 (self propelled). I really liked The Ego but you mentioned something that I've been sighting for a while about The Ego, that is are you going to be willing to spend $350.00 on a battery 5-6 years down the road for a 5-6 year old mower? Now I don't know if that's what was wrong with your mower but we all know eventually the battery will die and need to be replaced even if there isn't a single thing wrong with the rest of the mower. For this reason I stayed with a gas mower and a high end one at that! A well maintained gas mower can last for yeeeeeeeeeears!!! The Achilles heel of battery mowers will always be the batteries and it's not like these mowers are only $150.00, they are expensive and so are their batteries. I understand the advantages of a battery powered mower and I don't fault anyone for buying one I just think it isn't discussed enough that people are paying lots of money for one of these things and the same money will buy them a high end gas powered mower like my Toro Super Recycler that won't fall apart like a cheap Murray or Troybilt mower. Toro even makes gas mowers that you can stand up and store like any electric mower! Like I mentioned above I don't fault the decision to buy a battery powered mower I just believe people should be aware that they might be spending a lot of money on them within 5-6 years. Honestly if I made more money I would have bought that Ego and wouldn't have cared about buying a $350.00 battery. Electric mowers rock!

A word of warning when buying the EGO. I purchased mine in 2018 and am happy with the performance. Now for the issue, at the end of May 2020, the speed control malfunctioned. I had to bring it back to Home Depot to be sent off for repairs; this is the problem with buying from a big box store. Home Depot charged me a $20 fee up front, just in case the work to be done was not considered warranty work. The mower was dropped off at Home Depot on June 6, 2020 and it was not returned to me until August 4th. I was presented with a bill for $78. The repair to the speed control was under warranty, but without my approval, they decided to replace the blade and charged me $26 for the blade and $45 for the labor plus some miscellaneous charges. Also, at the local home depot, the diagnostic fee that was supposed to be returned to me was not and I was told that was the cost to ship the mower off. After much complaining, and refusing to pay for work that I did not authorize, Home Depot begrudgingly agreed to wave the $78 charge but would not refund my $20. Bottom line, I spent $20 for a blade I didn't need and I was without my mower for 2 months.
I like the mower, but get ready to get screwed if anything breaks and needs to be repaired.

I wonder about battery life as well. $150 - $250 is alot to replace a battery.
I had one ordered from Home Depot but forgot to order Self- propelled. When we picked it up, we realized it was the wrong model. No problems. Then, my husband got a barely-used mower from neighbor so at least the lawn got mowed. I would still consider buying one. My son has the Ego leaf blower which has twice as much power as ours.

I've had this mower for about two weeks. It worked great the first two times I used it. The third time, the blade would inexplicably stop. The self-propelled system still worked but the blade would not spin. The battery was fully charged, too. What I determined is that the handlebar had retracted a bit and the mower thought the handlebar was not fully extended - which always causes the blade to stop spinning. I was thinking, "Maybe I didn't clip it securely enough." They seemed firmed clipped into place. 10 minutes later, the blade stopped again. Again, I reclipped the handlebar. The blade worked again; but, AGAIN, a little bit later, the blade stopped. This kept happening at about 5-minute intervals. Very annoying.
What happens is that if the handlebar retracts as little as half-an-inch, that trips the circuit to stop the blade. The mower thinks the handlebar is retracted. Even when the green clips were firmly snapped into place, the handlebar, over time, ever so slowly slips down, triggering the circuit and stopping the blade. I called EGO. They said that this was not a common problem and that I should get a replacement mower from where I bought it - Lowe's. I did. Lowe's gave me no problems. Now I have a new mower and we'll see if the problem reoccurs.

With my gas mower I have to bounce it up and down or stop and clean the side discharge out. Tall wet grass always sucks.

I'd like to see how this performs on a thick, higher cut lawn. I'm at about 3 1/2 inches with thick kbg. I have the ego generation before this one. I like it but in some places it has a hard time mulching. Especially if it's a bit longer and thicker. I've found if my grass is shorter and I'm not cutting much-- 1/3 or less it always works great.

I have a pretty standard Indiana mix of bluegrass, fescue and ryegrass. It's very thick and I am currently cutting (mulch) at about 4", will probably raise all the way to 4.5 in the summer heat, and it does every bit as well as the Toro super recycler it replaced (have to a neighbor). I love it (the Toro maxed at 3.5 inches).I have yet to see clumping, even when damp, but I make sure and follow the 1/3 rule when possible. It doesn't mulch the ryegrass seed heads well but what does, that's about over with now anyway.

My only issues with the Ego lawnmower is the lack of suction verse my Honda gas mower to pick up those little debris and mulch/bag. Also Ego should add an Turbo button like on the blower for when you need to kick up the motor speed for those not so perfect lawns. If you are tired of dealing with bad gas and routine maintenace issues on a gas mower the Ego is the way to go.

Bought the regular push 21" EGO a few months ago and have been loving it. You should try the high lift blade they included in the box to get more bagging/mulching power on the Select Cut. Just bought into the entire EGO ecosystem on Memorial Day - have the 530CFM blower, the multi-head tool with trimmer, edger and cultivator! You'd be a prime candidate for their zero turn riding mower they are teasing on their website right now.

I bought this mower this spring after a lot of research. I am very happy with it but my only disappointment is the self propelling. There is a little delay when pressing the button to get it going. I also wish it was front wheel drive. I find that I have to make sure I consciously tell myself to release the self propel button before turning or it will lock up the wheels. I guess I'm just used to keeping it held down, lifting, turning, and keeping it going on my old mower.

I have half an acre so overlapping 75% is not an option, I ended up just buying a Ryobi Electric riding mower. I'm sure it has it's issues as well, but I don't have to push half an acre any more..

Hey doug, sounds like you've moved on, but on my Ego I managed to add the new dual blade(technically not compatible with the old ones, but I made it work) and it was definitely a significant improvement. I think the soft blade and lack of lift made for a terrible quality of cut, and the dual blade really helped. Perhaps this will help someone else.
