    Yours is the 7.0 ft-lb. torque version. You said it was 8.3 ft-lb., but that is the LM2156SP. Just to be clear.

      You're right, I accidentally wrote down the torque for the XP version that comes with a 10Ah battery. Thanks for catching that!

      The manual says the motor under no load is 2700RPM, so does that mean it works out to a 2.68Kw motor?

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  Рік тому

      No, the no load speed won't be at max torque so it's much less powerful than 2.68 kW. For a DC motor max torque is at stall. And it's unclear if they're rating "no-load" speed as bare motor spindle, or with the aerodynamic load of the blade attached. If you assume the no-load speed is bare motor spindle, then the max power the mower is capable of is 0.67 kW at 1350 RPM.

      @@DoresoomReviews Ah ok I see, thanks for the explanation I didn't know that. Any idea what a ballpark kW figure for this Ego would be with all that taken into account? I asked Ego but they told me they don't know, ha!

      @@KenshinPhoenix If you assume the no-load speed is bare motor spindle, then the max power the mower is capable of is 0.67 kW at 1350 RPM. It will be higher if the no-load speed includes the mower blade on the shaft.

    If you are mowing tall grass, cut the "60 minutes of run time" in half. I charged to full, started cutting my 0.2 acre yard and it died after about 30 mins, and still had 1/3 of my yard left. You'll probably get better battery performance on shorter grass since the motor won't work as hard. If you mow at least once a week, you'll probably get closer to the 50 minute mark with the 7.5 Ah.

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  2 роки тому +3

      Very true, grass height affects runtime. I generally mow every other week and it does my 1/6th acre yard with 60% remaining charge.

      The turbo mode drains the battery quickly. I have 1/2 acre and if i let go too long it can be two batteries to finish, but I also have ego snow blower, so have 3 of the 7.5 Amp batteries at the ready. 😊

    I just bought the same one today. They have an instant 30% off in Colorado and finally gave in. I am replacing a kobalt with two blades front and back. The kobalt is 9-10 years old still working but bogs down and batteries get hot and die quick.
    First cut of our small front yard with this ego the battery handled great. The bag held great and the mower picked up the grass very good. My complaints are where the buttons are located to engage self propelled motor is not comfortable for my hands. The extended handle is not in a good spot for short people I am 5’5” and lowering the handle made it just acceptable not great. The mower is not balanced well and when the self propelled feature is engaged it does pick up the front end. I think I will get use to the mower but first use is not good.

      @DoresoomReviews  10 днів тому

      I remember the first few times I mowed with it, I didn't like it either. But after I got used to it, I don't have any complaints. My previous mower was a front wheel drive TORO Recycler.
      For the front end lifting up, try slowing down the speed of the self propel. I also found the mower was much more prone to wheelies when the handle was in the highest position. I'm 5'3" and settled on the middle position as the most comfortable.

    • @richardduffy3115
      @richardduffy3115 2 роки тому +2

      I would maybe rethink your selection.
      The Ryobi is a good product for all yard needs, but the mower is not made as well as the EGO.
      The sidewalls are more flimsy and can actually hit the blade ends if you accidentally press against an object such as mowing around a tree.
      I just bought the exact mower in this video and have mowed my yard twice.
      2,000 sq ft. area and it didn't use half of the battery charge.
      I already had the EGO Trimmer and popped the battery in after mowing and still had over 25% left on the charge.
      Takes about an hour to fully charge out of the box.
      The easiest mower to use I've ever had..by far.
      Hope this helps in your decision.

That way you can actually use both batteries in handheld tools and charge one while using the other. And you come out $50 and 0.5Ah in battery capacity ahead too. Because there's no way you'll want to slap that 12Ah in a blower and lug it around.

    • @DoresoomReviews

      Personally I don't have a need for the XP version myself. The regular Select Cut has plenty of power, and I've never had it stall on me. If you regularly mow thick grass and can tell your Select Cut is bogging down, then I'd look at the XP. Otherwise, I'd think you'd be better off just buying more tool-with-battery kits if you want more runtime for the mower.

      Define "starting and running" for me here. The blade motor is turning but the blades aren't? Or your self propel works but the blades won't start? The first thing I'd check is if the handle is extended all the way out. Then make sure you're following the startup sequence by pushing and holding the big green button first and then pulling back the bail.

      - Select Cut has a dual blade setup and comes with extra blades optimized for mulching, bagging, or long runtime: lowes.sjv.io/5bxPOo

    I have 6 year old model and having issues with the right side clip that permits the mower to start. The clip keeps coming off as you push and pull the mower. Ego tech support can't help except to refer me to repair service locations and parts retailer. Totally useless! I'm not going to have service my mower and buy a new clip as it would cost me more then it should of course so I will fix it myself from their defective part. Solution: 2 tie wraps- 1 to hold the clip on ("horizontally" across the clip to keep the clip engaged though that tie wrap will slip off and down) then take another tie wrap and wrap diagonally across the cross handle/bar to keep the horizontal tie wrap in place. Done! $ .03 wraps.

A shadow board where all the necessary parts are placed before packing into the box would help address the issue.

    As a current owner of ten previous gen Ego self propelled mower I was super disappointed with this newer version. The ergonomics were so bad I returned it after 1 mow. The handle redesign is a mess and I was constantly messing with the self propel knob when not wanting too. The removal of the handle in the front of the mower to its new position is baffling. This mower actually stalls less than my old gas 22" Toro Recycler did. The EGO is rated for higher torque at 7 ft-lbs for the motor running the blade. My old Toro was 6.25 ft-lbs gross torque, which included running the drive wheels as well. Plus there's an XP version of the EGO Select Cut which is rated for 8.3 ft-lbs. The EGO battery mowers are well into the range of gas mower power output.

    When reading the instructions you must wear safety glasses.
    The list of eminent dangers is longer than my street.
    After reading all the safety instructions I don't think anyone is safe operating this very dangerous machine.
    Because it's quiet many deadly dangers arise,
    Such as children who come from all over to put their hands under and try to touch the blades.
    Also the blades are dangerous.
    Also you must watch the charger the entire time it's charging in case it catches fire.
    Also if your blades for that mower touches anything except for grass you stop using it in immediately.
    Contact a qualified technician to check every aspect of that mower.
    Don't you dare think you're going to fix that mower.
