If ice is not available, how would compression be applied? I am assuming that cloth is tied around the area and the next action of the process is applied(elevation).

You'll just want to take it easy and rest after icing.

So if I understand correctly, even though you twisted your knee, what hurts is your foot? This is not an official diagnosis, and if the pain persists after a week I'd highly suggest going to see a Physical Therapist, or your Primary Doc, however it sounds like it could possibly be a tendon strain. Rest and Ice should help.

I wouldn't use the RICE treatment for more than 20 minutes at a time, or you may get frostbite. Use the RICE treat anywhere from 4-8 times a day.

0:49 Absolutely wrong! So this is bullsh*t. You want to ice your injury ok. So generally you should not use ice but in the first minutes you can it's ok. But NEVER EVER EVER EVER ice to reduce inflammation. Decreasing inflammation means no healing. So I don't understand how you can say it is really important to reduce that because everybody knows this is the body's natural way to heal. So why would you seriously bother your bodys natural way to heal. What's the reason? You need that inflammation!! THIS is the important thing!

Finally. You are one of the few that actually get it. RICE sucks. I would never use RICE to get rid of an ankle sprain. Ice is bad, it numbs the pain temporarily, but it slows down the healing process.
