Don’t know what I’d do without this channel! Between a glut tendon tear and a hamstring tendon tear, you guys had me covered. Tendinopathy sucks, and can take months to heal since tendons have virtually no blood flow. Consistent, diligent PT is the ticket. Thank you for your channel, you guys make an impact.

I wish I would’ve just searched for a Bob and Brad solution to my hamstring pull(or it might be a small tear?). I’m old school and tried the “just walk it off” and “no pain, no gain” approaches and immediately started doing gentle stretches into where it was most painful, but it’s still weak and it still spasms when I’m walking and it contracts in a certain spot.
It’s only been about 2 days since I fell and pulled it, so hopefully I can correct my course with these tips. I’ve already tried the massage technique and that helps a lot. Thanks Bob and Brad 😊

Hello, I have had a chronically tight with noticeable bulge on the lower part of my biceps femoris along with the tendon/tendon sheath for over a year now. It started getting worse the more I ran, I have seen two different chiropractors. One of the chiropractors did Graston, the other used the hydrovolt gun and TENS. The bulge is still there and now I can't run because the next day it feels so tight it feels like its going to tear. Prior to the chiropractors I have seen an orthopaedic doctor and got a steroid shot along with PT. Nothing helps it. I am not sure if this is a long long term problem or if there is something these specialist I have seen cannot figure out. I am considering going back into the second chiropractor and getting dry needling done. What are your thoughts Bob & Brad?

Tirriana Johnson I did a jump split for my drill team back in August of 2017 and only rested for a week since it didn’t hurt to dance. I went back to high kicks after that and it would hurt every time I stretched my leg out (or tried doing splits). Because I didn’t rest for at least 5 weeks, I would constantly have that sharp pain while dancing so I did Physical Therapy for 3 months and it helped a bit but my flexibility wasn’t as good as it was before and as of now i still get a sharp pain in my lower buttock and hamstring especially when I’ve been sitting for a long time. As much as you want to keep dancing, PLEASE go to the doctor and rest for the amount of weeks that they tell you to. Trust me, it’s better to stay out of dancing for a couple of weeks rather than making the injury worse by not resting your leg.Good luck!

I had an MRI of my left knee done after having serious discomfort and not being able to flex my knee at all. Most painful activities included walking up and down stairs. trying to flex the knee, and significant stiffness if being on my feet too long. MRI results came back and there were no tears and an MD reported my knee as an "A". After reporting my symtoms and how they've slowly subsided, he concluded it was likely a strain of the hamstring muscle do to both my hamstring and calve hurting.
Fastforward 8 weeks after the initial symptoms and I still have each of the symptoms but it takes more for it to flare up, but when it does, each of the above pains are virtually at the same level of discomfort. I also have yet to have full ROM (even without pain symptoms). Any suggestions on where to go from here.
Weeks 0 - 4: Rest, Ice, only body weight bearing (work related) activities.
Weeks 5 - 6: Self massage, foam foller/lacrosse ball and continued above
Past 2 weeks or so: Very light knee extension machine, hamstring curl machine and banded hip abductions.

After injuring the pain had fully dissipated after only two days of rest. No bruising or swelling so i thought i'd give the cross-friction massage a try but since trying it once i have had continuous aching in the hamstring for 5 days now. So to Bob and Brad, maybe you can give some indication of timeframe for these steps with all your experience as physicians? And for others who are becoming painfree, maybe give it some more time before the massaging. I probably have irritated the injury again and prolonged the healing process.

Hi. I am a ballet dancer and haven’t danced nearly as much this summer as i do in the school year. a couple days ago, i went into my splits cold, without stretching. usually in the school year i would be able to do this no problem. my hamstring is very sore and tense and it seems like it lost all its flexibility for the time being. did i tear or strain my hamstring? how long till it gets better?

I’m elderly,, felt a popping sensation in upper butt area just walking. I applied cold immediately after. Should I keep moving or stay sedentary?

So you do the opposite with the foam roller? I mean, fase two is across the fibers massage and foam along the fibers?

Dealing with multiple hamstring injuries, this is really the best information on the internet

Thanks!! This seemed like the most legit information. You get so many people tossing in their two cents when you get injured that it becomes difficult to know who you should listen to.

Thank you for saying, “gentle”. I tell my ballet students that every stretch should be gentle.
