@@Woutico he sings a lot in dillinger too, he does a mix of harsh and sung vocals. some of my favorite vocal performances from him are on the album miss machine. i understand completely if you dont like harsh vocals though, its absolutely an acquired taste
@@lxxwj Oh allright, I have to listen a bit better to Dillinger then. Once the balance between singing and harsh is good I might still can dig it. Same thing with for instance Killswitch Engage, some songs are so awesome because of the good balance, others are only grunt, and becuase I'm probably a bit old fashioned I like the singing more, haha. I gotta say, Greg put forth a worthy rendition. Weird, I kinda wanted him to blow. I was and shall remain a die-hard Layne Staley FANatic. To classify him as a "singer" is like saying fire is warm. He poured his soul into every note. If you were listening, you didn't just hear him sing, you felt it. I never got to see him live.....Damn.
Gosh I miss Layne. If only he could have found some other way to deal with whatever issues he carried inside than self-medicating with all the drugs he used...my heart still hurts for him. And for Jerry too, in trying so hard to help his friend. Aside from the sorrow though, Jerry has a unexplainable gift for putting words to feelings. His musical abilities are so strong enough on their own that they make him legendary in their own right. His ability to put words that are so deep and powerful, he is a legend for that as well. I still listen, and find new potential meanings in certain words and phrases and reflect upon them all over again. I'm grateful to them both for sharing their talents with the world.
His name is Gil Sharone, he played in multiple obscure bands... I know him from The Dillinger Escape Plan, the same band Greg Puciato is from even though Gil played only on one album. He is really good, the stuff he had to play with Dillinger is insane.

Layne was special and unique but I have no problems if Jerry Cantrell & Co. are still going as AIC. Many bands during their history kept the name even without their former, sometimes most important vocalists etc. (Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Queen, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Sepultura, Motley Crue, Stone Temple Pilots,...). If you don't like AIC without Layne just don't listen to their music but I can somehow understand your feelings. The fact is they already put 3 albums out as AIC (without Layne).
Awesome version. This Greg did a good job. Not easy to fill in the parts of such a legendary voice as Layne's.
