I remember in the early 90's me and my buddies were riding around in a Camaro. I was in the backseat with a big speaker box and I heard Cowboys from Hell for the first time! I was blown away and wanted to know who it was. Amazing how vivid that memory is for me. Been loving Pantera ever since that night.
First album I ever bought was Cowboys From Hell. I was probably around 10 years old at the time and saved up money by doing chores around the house for weeks. Still have it to this day. Pantera changed my life. RIP brothers. The legacy will never die
What a time that was. The energy this band delivered was legendary, and I am beyond grateful that I was there to see it all. Pantera was an experience.
First time I saw them it was 1991 I believe. The venue was packed from end to end!! I was literally hanging on to the bar so I didn't get sucked into the pit...it was so freaking amazing!!! The second time I saw them, they opened for Skid Row. Me and my friend left after Pantera played...lol..
too bad you left. Skid Row put on epic shows on that tour. They were nothing like the rest of those 80s hair bands, much more closer to real heavy metal and energy as crazy as Pantera.
@thomassparkman1497 Not us! We went to see 👀 Skid Row and Pantera opened for them ....I had never heard of them before that night...I was shocked at how crazy it got! I wasn't prepared for that show!
Saw them live 4 times in australia, dime's tone was so brutally clean and powerful i literally couldnt believe my ears.not only that he played with such heart and aggression is just was unreal..never heard anything come close to that rythem section.
I'm 48 and my kids had the pleasure of growing up for 4 years listening to vulgar display of power. The cassette was stuck in the car stereo lol and we loved every moment that we listened to that cassette. Thank the boys from pantera for giving my kids a brilliant lesson in music 🤘
PANTERA is simply masters at live the performance. With Dimes antics and Phil's ability to capture the crowd followed up with Rex and Vin holding things down , The 4 of them live was absolutely 💯 percent and for the fans!!
Saw the "Cowboys From Hell" 3 times, first show with Zombie in '97 and what would be the last tour. The energy of the crowd combined with the stripped down in your face metal was something you really had to experience to really appreciate these 4 dudes and it was truly "Goddamn Electric"!!! ✝️ Dime 🎸 and 🥁 Vinnie CFH FOREVER!!! GETCHA FUCKING PULL!!!
December 31st, 1995. Tarrant Co. Convention center, my Mom was 5 months pregnant with me and somehow managed to fall asleep while Pantera was playing. To say this band is one of my favorites is a severe understatement.
I'll never forget seeing them on their 2023 tribute tour, got seats right behind the pit thanks to my mom who worked at a hotel they were staying at, had whiplash for a few days but it was so fucking worth it. Zakk did amazing and would definitely make Dime proud, Charlie's drumming was on point and Vinnie would've been proud. I hope they both found it somewhere in rock heaven that they forgave Phil.
I mean If you Want a best of Pantera then just watch the fucking home videos man. These "top 10 unforgettable moments" aren't even scratching the surface.
I seen them last summer and im so happy for phil. Hes sober and sounds better than 20 years ago. I know he has alot of regret in his heart but drugs are not him. If he wasnt doped out the band would havr never stopped
Got to see dimebag and vinnie paul play for damage plan in 2004 b4 dime was tragically shot and ill never ever forget it i was 6 feet away.from him! Rip dime
Every moment of the PanterA band since Mr. Anselmo has enough Power (Metal) to destroy all K-Pop & Taylor Swifts music, that's how much the Goddamn (Electric) PanterA band means to the heavy metal world. The first ever song i ever heard was Cowboys From Hell by PanterA, the whole CFH album was the first ever album i was raised by. Im currently 12, turning 13 on the 14th of Sept
So many great bands I never got to see and never will. At least we have recordings to watch and listen to. It's not the same. But it's better than nothing
Saw them at a club show Ybor City Tampa right before Vulgar came out. I know the bigger venue the better for the players but for us commoners a small show is up close and personal . My 25th birthday show, soundtrack to my arrested adolescence!
I saw them live several times (94,96 (w/ White Zombie), early 00's) and had a great experience...and then the last clip of the sea of cell phones....you'll never be into the concert if you're on your cell phone.
How could they forget the time Phil was sent flying after being hit from behind by some dude hanging from wires pretending to be an angel?! 😂😂😂 their concerts could be hilarious as hell at times
@@gregoryfuller9361 That show was sick, concerts don't have the same feel as they did in the 90's and early 2000's. Hopefully you get to go to one of the reunion shows, I'm going out to Chicago for the show at Soldier Field!
Phil needs to be hired to narrate audio book versions of Classic English Literature. Would be amazing. “Next up for your listening pleasure, we present “The Canterbury Tales”, a collection of twenty-four stories, narrated by Philip H. Anselmo.”
"The FIrst Comeback Show, 2023" is pretty Forgettable without the Abbott brothers! As Vinnie once said: "People are selfish, man, you know? They want what they want. They don't care what you want, you know? And it's unfortunate that people go 'Oh wow, they could get Zakk Wylde to jump up there on stage and it's Pantera again. No, it's not." "It's not that simple, you know? If Eddie Van Halen wants to get shot in the head 4 times next week, would everybody be going 'hey man, Zakk, go play for Van Halen, just call it Van Halen", you see what I'm saying? It's really selfish for people to think that, and it's stupid." "They call it a reunion for a reason, it's called bringing the original members back to what it was. So there's a lot of these things that they call reunions that aren't really reunions. They got one dude from the band floating around in them, you know? I mean, that's not a true reunion, and with Pantera, that'll never be possible."
Whatever dude. Show was awesome they blew Metallica outta the water when I saw em. Also, it's not a reunion it's a tribute. It literally can't be a true reunion when half the band is dead anyway. The whole point was let people who never got to see these songs played live get a chance to and just have a great time. If you don't like that or can appreciate it then that's on you.
last clip kinda sucks because man, imagine going to a show and just watching it through your own phone, they have cameras there themselves just go enjoy it
Damn, watching phil talk nowadays gets me in my feels, from what I saw before his heroin addiction (although I wasn't even alive, just going off of video clips), he was pretty well spoken. Hard to see how he talks and acts now...
I use to date a female from Texas years ago that was plugged by Dime😂😂She had pictures of her with Dime & Vinnie @ their homes etc..I considered it a badge of honor..😂
I got to see them on tour with Slayer at Nassau Colosseum, still the loudest show I ever been to, or even will be to. The wall of amps and cabinets was like nothing I'd ever seen. When Vinny hit the kick.. it was like a roundhouse to the chest. I was too far away to see Dime's playing, something I regret to this day but man were they tight. Both bands were exceptional live, I saw so many sloppy shows between Nu-metal acts and metal acts trying to ride Nu-metal momentum. None sounded that cohesive or impressive, including Metallica and Megadeth. At the time I was a bigger Fear Factory fan, but I came to love Pantera and can easily acknowledge they were the best metal band of the 90s, hands down, and Dime the best guitarist, Vinny the best drummer.
One of the many awesome things about Pantera was that they were hard af.. but also really down to earth goof ball regular guys who had a blast doing what they loved and it showed. Never took themselves seriously unless they were playing. As apposed to metallica, who i used to really like, but they seemed like kinda assholes. Hatfield took himself way to seriously, and lars pfffft... what a d bag!
