Damn it has been 20 years I was thinking 2007 , I remember seeing it on the news the lead singer of pantera who made a comment on dime bag darrel in a magazine who prompt the shooter to believe he was the reason for the breakup
Dime was a down to earth kind of dude. In my hometown of Fort Worth, TX., it wasn't unusual to see him and Vinny at the Ridglea Theater, every now and then, rocking out to bad ass bands, just like the rest of us. RIP brother
So many badass shows were at the Ridglea.I miss that place.I lived directly across the street from it for 2 years. DFW will never have another one. Tattoo bar was fun too.
In every comments section about Dimebag, you'll see a personal story just like this one. And you see it in meet & greets where you can tell he's genuinely happy to meet every single fan!
I teared the whole way through.. Dime is one of the greatest musicians of all time. The guitar solo in 10’s is one of the best guitar solo’s ever (yes, Floods is great too, but for me personally 10’s will always be number 1) R.I.P. Dime
THAT is a great solo and what is so great about Dime is that different people have different favorite solos and it's not just one solo everyone say "YEAH THATS MY FAVORITE TOO". His music touches us all differently
Dimebag was a legendary musician. Dimebag was a legenary human being. He's been gone for 20 years, but he still brings me joy and inspiration almost every day.
I just got out of hospital but yesterday I had awoke and I get this notion every year on the 8th! And I couldn't get a grin snuck in but I had my praise going all day as when I was but 12 one night Walk comes on the TV and I froze in awe! Especially the solo. I'm so late as I got a ticket for Damageplan but failing high school wasn't able to go but that tragedy I just... this Guitarist God had this aura of just appreciation! From talking with fans and seeing this... There's no one, NO ONE who will ever even dare come close to the legacy! Last year I got the solo album and HAH! It showed so much more! I had to share it and his evolution to doing the solo album I am 1990 but I was forever changed unlike and never will from a single song! This one is for you! I love also how each year more and Cowboys and Cowgirls from Hell join as he's just that... But that power groove between Vinnie Paul and Dime is unmistakable and ever lasting! Thank you to The Abbott Brothers, and those impacted by as I was raised by metal I'm forever metal and I just to everyone who's been changed by this God of Guitar! We're one massive family! \m/ loved hearing from so many! This is genuine and true! Thank you all who have shared your memories with as I never feel like he's gone as one of a kind legacy is immortal! Thank you!
The dimevision DVD is gold. I've watched it so many times. Dime will always be missed and his mark was BURNED into musical history. RIP dime, it's been 20 years but it still hurts like it was yesterday. Unbelievably talented
It was my "John Lennon" moment when he passed. I cried for days. I love Dimebag, Pantera, and Damgeplan to this day. Bless him and his family, bless his bands, and bless all of his sphere of influence. I love you all. Keep it alive!
Ace Frehley: “I know we all miss him very much” this must be so true for his loved ones. I never even met him & I still miss his music. My cousin introduced me to Panteras Cowboys From Hell when I was about 11 & I fell in love with it instantly. I’m 43 now & they’re still my favourite band. RIP Dime & Vinnie. Gone but never forgotten 😢
You’re engrained in our souls , Dime! Love ya, miss you, you put it all out there and still the scariest, most bad assed guitarist and personality metal has ever seen! It’s your template brother…thank you so much for your contributions!
I got to visit his grave on the 8th and met one of his best friends there. I’m very grateful that I was able to be there and meet such amazing people all in memory of Dime. 🖤🕊️
That's awesome and hopefully he grows up loving and playing Pantera music forever! I took my 21 year old son to 2 Pantera reunion shows last year and he loved it, too! He grew up listening to Pantera thanks to me, so I clearly did my part!
Still can't believe he's gone. Dime melted my face off in Detroit a couple times.. He was stolen from all of us. Sickeningly Stupid way for his life to be ripped away. WTF? Rock On in SHREDVEN Dime.
I can talk about dimebag all day long. I partied with dime and Vinnie Dec 7th at the icon in buffalo ny. We sure did party like it was his last night alive. I felt so loved by both dime and Vinnie. A teenager.... On the BFH (Bus From Hell) iykyk.
Dude, maybe you could answer to my question. Is there any group on social media or place in web where people share stories about Dime? I think I've read everything on UA-cam comments that is😂
Any guitar player knows what he means to guitar. He was one of a kind and at the highest level and thats rare in a world with so damn many guitar players. What I'll always admire even more about Dime was his spirit or whatever you wish to call it. The guy just seemed like he wanted everyone in his vicinity and beyond to have a good time and feel good while they were with him. He loved people more than most people do to me thats even more inspiring than his playing, especially these days.
Twenty fricking years man... I remember the exact spot it was when I heard about his death. Avid listener since Cowboys, and it's such a shame the world was robbed of such a great person and magical guitarist. R.I.P. Dime.
Dimebag was salt of the earth and such genuine human along with the rest of Pantera. They cared and loved their fans like few I’ve ever known. I was lucky enough to see them dozens of times in clubs during Cowboys and Vulgar. They also loved our soldiers and would make sure ppl knew and respected the sacrifices they made for us all. RIP Dime!!!
20 years since he's gone, i'm gonna continue to learn how to play guitar this week since 2009 in honor of Dime and Marty (yes, Marty anniversary is the same day that Dime died unfortunatly) so yeah
Lived close to Dallas area all my life. I was in bands in the Northeast Texas area I wasn't famous or anything but we partied like we were in the 1990's. I was even lucky enough to hang out with him and he would run a tab at the bar and pay for all our drinks. Being a fan and getting to hang out with him was next level awesome for me. Got to meet Vinny at his "Clubhouse". Just some real cool straight forward guys, that were badass musicians, that were taken way to soon from us. Nobody ever talks about how crushed and brokenhearted their dad must feel now that both his sons are gone to light.
i listen to pantera everyweek and have been since i discovered them in 2005 my favorite band of all time i know their songs on a soul level, as im sure many others do if you know what i mean... everything about that band was perfect. and everything about dime and vinces playing was perfect. and i liked damageplan too.
Saw them open for Skid Row. It was ridiculous. Dime climbed up in the rafters and shredded our face. It was incredible. It was the Vulgar tour. So glad I got to see them. He was really a huge fan, that's what made him real
No hate to Kerry King, but when he said "passed away" it struck a chord (no pun) with me. When someone like Dime is murdered, taken from his family, his friends, his fans, the world, it seems too nonchalant to say passed away. He was murdered in cold blood by some nameless POS. Long live Dime 🤘
Yeah, but going into the grisly details in front of a crowd TRYING to celebrate doesn’t really work. The word “murdered”, which he undoubtably was, instantly instills negative emotions. Mostly anger. You don’t want a mob of angry folks. Just saying.
I was working with my wife at the time. I used to listen to CDs in a walkman while running my machine,it was 2004. What are gonna do? Anyway the Mrs. walks up and says turn the radio on...with a look that I've come to know as "this one's gonna hurt". I switch over to 92.3 and I caught the news. I've never cried over a musician or celebrity I've never met and Dime's murder was no exception. I wasn't sad I was furious. I was very angry that a gift, be it from God or through sheer will or maybe a little bit of both, was so senselessly snatched from the world. I won't lie, it knocked the wind out of me. 20 years....bad things shouldn't happen to good people. Sleep well Dime
thank you 🙏🏼 Loud Wire for doing this video, not even Guitar World magazine did anything for him after all he did for heavy metal 🎸🤘🏼and for that stupid magazine they couldn’t be bothered to do one article in honor of him nothing in the December issue or the holiday issue! i have cancelled my subscription to Guitar World 👎🏼
Dude, I was at that Club 367 Pantera Show in St Louis, it was fkn insane! They had a local band open for them called Zkhazen or somerhing. Chad was right, at any given time there were like 20 people on stage diving off! Dime killed it, actually the whole band killed it, that was a hell of a show!
such a shame vinnie passed away, he said in an interview he was going to release the isolated guitar and drum tracks damageplan 2 shortly before he passed 🙁
RIFF IN PEACE St. Dime! Big Vin the St. is back by your side where he belongs. I fucking miss you every day! I have CFH tatted on me below a Dean Headstock that says DIME instead of Dean. Best fucking riffs ever!!!!!!!!!

He was at all the shows. I took lessons from him at rainbow music when I was 14. He showed up to my bachelor's party @babydolls.

20 years, crazy!

10's really got a great solo
THAT is a great solo and what is so great about Dime is that different people have different favorite solos and it's not just one solo everyone say "YEAH THATS MY FAVORITE TOO". His music touches us all differently
i think that hard lines sunken cheeks is better, just by a bit.
@@SimoPortti 100% agree with you
@@Hyperio606 that’s a really good take too. Love that solo as well, especially the build up to it
I miss him so much
Dimebag was a legendary musician.
Dimebag was a legenary human being.

More than one of the greatest guitar players of all time, he was a beautiful soul.

Sometimes words are chosen just to relief people's pain. I guess that speech wasnt given long after he died.

Black Tooth Grin written by Zac Crain is a great biography about Dimebag. I read it cover-to-cover. I hope he's still raising hell up in Heaven.
Miss you and Vinnie
I remember being grade 11 when it happened and my friend told me and I didn’t believe it for a solid week
Rip Dime ❤ getcha pull
The Pink GOAT of ALL HUMANITY!!!
I like how the poser in Mudvayne acts like he discovered Pantera. A lot of people knew who they were right when CFH came out. I did.
Pantera really are the gold standard
such a shame vinnie passed away, he said in an interview he was going to release the isolated guitar and drum tracks damageplan 2 shortly before he passed 🙁
