Absolutely man.. Dude had such positive energy and life in him, it just still kinda feels like he's around even though it's been nearly 12 yrs. I got into Pantera young when I came across my dad's cds.. I always wanted to see them live badly, but wasn't old enough before they split. My first concerts were Primus, Ozzfest, & the Jager Music Tour (Killswitch, Mastodon, Slayer) in 04; since Pantera split I wanted to see Damageplan even though I wasn't as big on them as Pantera. Then I found out the morning of the 9th before school that he was killed, and was devastated. My biggest influence learning/playing guitar was gone, and I'd never see him perform live. And it just was hard to believe knowing how good of a dude he was by watching vids of him at cd releases, signings, watching Pantera's vulgar home videos countless times, etc. Won't keep rambling haha but it's a damn shame that scumbag pointlessly killed such a great dude & 3 others, plus those who witnessed it and live with that forever. I've always liked how off-the-cuff and innovative Dime's riffs were. Very few guitarists are carrying on the tradition of writing solid, catchy, Sabbath-esque riffs. @@IamEskimoPie i once saw a clip where a guy explains how you tune the guitar the way you play it, so if you hit the string more aggressive when you play, that's the way you hit them when you tune. a lot of people pluck gently when tuning, but hit hard when they play and it can actually cause the guitar to be slightly out of tune because of the dynamic. that mostly wouldn't be an issue on standard tuning but since pantera already uses a quarter step down tuning, that small difference can be felt more if you really wanna be accurate. God Dime how I miss you. Revolution was your name my friend. Wish you were around I so enjoyed watching this. Beer, guitar, amp breaking, chill and good times. Love ya man. RIP we remember you and love you buddy.
The amp crapping out is from dirty corroded contacts; for exaple, the fx loop contact points. Normally, a plug that hasn't been plugged in a while needs the patina penetrated. Or just bust the rust off with some wiggle.
@kennethnick3213 a crazy "fan" killed him onstage in Ohio in 2004 while he was playing with his new band Damageplan...guy ran up onstage, held him from behind in shot him in the head...worst day ever!!! Some say because Pantera broke up...Police say he was delusional and blamed Pantera for stealing his lyrics. Now we are deprived of the beautiful soul known as Dime!!! You can find the videos on UA-cam of that fateful day.
Miss you so much brother. Rest in peace forever Dime and Vinny. Pantera literally changed my life the first time I heard cemetery gates and I still do Pantera covers in my set with my band.
So many talented performers are no longer with us. A list that is impossible to type, without criminally forgetting some. Of them all....I miss this dude the most. Down to earth, approachable, human. Never acted better than anyone else...just did his thing and enjoyed life. Wherever he went when he left this world, is where I wanna go.
got to see Pantera 13 times some of the best shows I ever seen.miss him so much.what a real dude he was.never had an attitude or bad thing to say about anything.R.I.P dime miss you brother
This video makes me so fucking sad in many ways. I see a guitar god who wrote some of the best heavy riffs ever and was takin from us, ( this video is after they broke up ) then I see a man who misses his band. His girlfriend said the breakup w Phil was hard on him. R.I.P. Dime you'll always live on
Practicing some of his lead and it totally works. Learn a few signature styles and we make our own style as Dime no doubt did. I got most of my influence from Iommi and adding Dimes influence absolutely enhances it perfectly.
Thank you, i had this video saved in my favorites since 10 years ago. Lately i been missing Dimebag more than usual, and it makes me happy watching his live performances y and home videos. 🤘🥹🤘
I have goosebumps from the harmonics and bends that he does... He makes it look so easy... the amp cant keep up with his greatness!! Haha just another day that the office for him. Truly the best guitar player I was fortunate enough to see in concert!
Most down to earth musician I have ever had the privilege to see perform. I thought Pantera was alright hearing them on their albums. Once I went to a show and saw Dime perform live I was hooked. Never looked back. RIP Dime thanks for everything
Dimebag probably did with the rest of us do ...when you live in a house with no ground electrical outlets.. and then you just break the ground off the plug so you can jam
Too much high gain pre amp noise bleeding though the speakers . And Nice to know that shit happens when playing , even to a amazing musician , RIP DIME
Grady wasn't there to flip his noise gate on and off, so he didn't use one...understandable because he was just riffing around and not recording or performing. Dime and Grady were a team.
I always say when you have nothing to plug into we appreciate whatever we can plug into either it be a shit first act 2 watt amp and a metal zone pedal or a all tube Marshall. Power up and let it ride brothas... cheers.
Love it that he said in the interlude play it either way of course. And I feel like he would say the same thing with all of his music. Play the riffs how you wanna play them. As long as the notes are accurate. So sick of hearing people say that ain't how dime played it. Well, you heard the man himself say play it either way of course...
I’m from Dallas and to have him and SRV buried in our backyard breaks my heart but also we’re honored they grew up here. RIP to both. Also his amp repair skills are incredible lol. What a treasure this man was
I grew up in Pantego. 817, baby! His house is a mile from where I grew up. I've partied at that house, and Vince's. We would see Dime at the Tom Thumb at Bowen Rd. and Park Row all the time. And I saw him a couple times at the 7-11 at 303 and Park Springs. He was always buying Coors Light lol.
Thank you dime for all kickass riffs and music, you were one of a kind and will never be forgotten, i miss you damnit! When i first heard pantera i know it was someting special, i listened to pantera albums every day!
Fuck, he was the heaviest, bluesiest player ever lived!! Thank god we were blessed with Dimebag and he gave us the baddest fuckin riffs..RIP DIME....Loved his 'amp repair', just wrap the side of it, LOL
This guys is great, he reminds of many good dudes ive known over the years - good ole country boys swilling beer in their cargo shorts and metal shirt in the garage, riffing out on busted gear. He knows the Pantera stuff pretty well too.
@@swimssnakeyadventures9127 Actually he's nowhere remotely close to EVH but nobody is . The true undisputed King , the most famous guitarists or all time list EVH as their # 1 influence including Paul Gilbert , Jason Becker, Nuno , michael Schenker to name just a few . Darrell is just one of the millions who was massively influenced by EVH . Randy Rhoads adored EVH , listen to what Rudy Sarzo said: GW: What were Randy’s main influences? Sarzo: His influences were late-’60s, early-’70s English rock guitar players. He didn’t have any R&B influence or anything, so it’s totally English. And classical music because of his schooling. His mother had a lot to do with that, teaching him and influencing him with classical music. So by the time he got to England, he was not like a typical American guitar player who had had the influence of R&B music and country music, because he’d never played that. GW: Were there any particular players he admired? Sarzzo: Yeah, let me tell you who they were. He really admired Gary Moore and Eddie Van Halen. Those were his top two guys he really, really admired. Nobody comes remotely close to EVH's rhythm and swing , NOBODY. Listen to what Pat Metheny said: “ i think i've talked about how much i like allan in here before (you can do a search on his name).... but eddie, i don't think i have. i really think he is a great player and someone i always enjoy hearing. there was a time i went to vh shows as much as possible just to check him out. one time, i got to go back before a show and hear him warm up - which was absolutely mind blowing - he played more incredible music in that 30 minutes of warmup time than he did in the all the vh "shows" that i heard rolled together. he is so creative - it would be great to hear him expand into other areas - especially now that "heavy metal" is about as dead as it could possibly be (who would have thought that that would happen in 1984?) eddie is more like a jazz guy anyway to me - he is always searching for sounds and ideas it seems.” Pat Metheny
some good laughs in this, always nice to see a Dime vid i havent seen before. (answers phone) "and you couldnt get in could ya, ha ha" LOL,cheers to Dime!

To this day Everytime I see him, even in videos I've seen thousands of times. . I can't help but feel some kinda way.... Blown away at the ease he plays with, saddened by the Loss and all the amazing riffs and solos were missing out on... Most of all it still didn't feel real.... I did several times and he blew my mind every time. Drunk laughing doing a shot never missing a note or screwing up even improving something more amazing on the spot while screwing around
The man was simply a genius , never really new just how original he really was , complete own style , fuckin unbelievable ..... sad I didn't pay attention when he was alive , but so happy I've found him now , I think its such a thing that he's gone but still new people old and young are still discovering him , apart from millions who already know just what a incredible talent this man was ..... 100% respect R.I.P .... Shane ...... England.....
That is great, I think its common now that musicians are looking back instead of forward, because now music doesnt make any sense, or conjure up any emotion. I was fortunate to see pantera twice, each time the air was electric. Keep jammin and keep the memory alive!!
In my opinion..... The greatest metal guitarist of all time. I miss this larger than life charismatic gem of a man. A huge influence on my playing. I could listen to him talk and goof around all day. Dime could talk about the phone book and make it hilarious and interesting sounding. R.I.P Dimebag.
Most people suck compared to Dime lol you should check out some old footage of him at 17 playing guitar. He was incredible after only playing a few short years. I've had the pleasure of meeting him twice and both times the guy was incredibly gracious and humble. He was a good dude. Such a senseless murder. It bums me out just thinking about it

The amp crapping out is from dirty corroded contacts; for exaple, the fx loop contact points. Normally, a plug that hasn't been plugged in a while needs the patina penetrated. Or just bust the rust off with some wiggle.
"come on m'fuckka"
Who could hurt such a sweet soul? We didn’t deserve you Dime.
12 years later, my heart still breaks that we lost Dime!!! The BEST GUITARIST EVER!!!
I was supposed to go to that show
How'd he die?
@kennethnick3213 a crazy "fan" killed him onstage in Ohio in 2004 while he was playing with his new band Damageplan...guy ran up onstage, held him from behind in shot him in the head...worst day ever!!! Some say because Pantera broke up...Police say he was delusional and blamed Pantera for stealing his lyrics. Now we are deprived of the beautiful soul known as Dime!!! You can find the videos on UA-cam of that fateful day.
@@darrendaj I'm soooooo glad you didn't!!!
@@Perro73 ooooooh I remember hearing about that. Didn't realize it was him
Everything about this video is just awesome. Dimebag- what a guy. The best guitarist with the best personality that ever lived!! R.I.P
Almost 14 years on and I still choked up watching him.
"Amp Repair" Smacks the crap out of it. 😂🤘🏻
Miss you so much brother. Rest in peace forever Dime and Vinny. Pantera literally changed my life the first time I heard cemetery gates and I still do Pantera covers in my set with my band.
2018! I’m still here for you! Our KING OF GUITAR!!!
REST IN PEACE
👍😢🤝😭🙏🌐❤️🌟
By the way, RESPECT RIFF KING!!!
Still here too brother

So many talented performers are no longer with us. A list that is impossible to type, without criminally forgetting some. Of them all....I miss this dude the most. Down to earth, approachable, human. Never acted better than anyone else...just did his thing and enjoyed life. Wherever he went when he left this world, is where I wanna go.
It blows my mind how good his tone was. Distorted to all hell but clean as a whistle.
Dude was just one of a kind.
He was so charismatic. Seemed to be a hell of a guy. RIP Dime.
got to see Pantera 13 times some of the best shows I ever seen.miss him so much.what a real dude he was.never had an attitude or bad thing to say about anything.R.I.P dime miss you brother
He cracks me laughing up with what he says sometimes.
Universal Power the Texas and hick bends
Dimebonics
Maybe Dime had the right idea. I should just drink every night and focus on my music.
hows the music workin out my brother?
same question!
Every night? I think he drank all day too
Drinking every night will only get you so far. Your family might need to own a recording studio! Music industry secret...
I tried it I gave up the guitar.
God, for just his beautiful attitude alone he is missed immensely
"..a half-note shy 'n just bend up!"
I miss this guy so. fucking. much.
+Brandon Veracka GODDAMN RIGHT!! R.I.P. KING FUKIN DIME!!! \m/ NEVER FORGET DIME!!!!!!!!!!!
I always loved Dimes 'close enough' attitude about everything.
+Paul Phillips YEA MAN HE WAS KING!!!
+Brandon Veracka King Dime
Dime definitely made a big impression on me when I was still a kid. It's cool to see I'm not the only one!
educational and funny. the world misses you dime
Absolutely the coolest guy to ever live... and he's a damn good guitar player too
Farking outstanding! (As usual) the guy is half cut, giving lessons, living it and loving it! Those abbott brothers were what music is all about! 🤘👍🤘
This video makes me so fucking sad in many ways. I see a guitar god who wrote some of the best heavy riffs ever and was takin from us, ( this video is after they broke up ) then I see a man who misses his band. His girlfriend said the breakup w Phil was hard on him. R.I.P. Dime you'll always live on
What a legend. Rip Dime & Vinnie 🤘🏼
Dimebag was the perfect and when I say perfect I mean perfect mix of soul and shred that has yet to be replicated to this day.
Brings a collective tear to my eye when I realize the world will never hear him play live again🖤
Dimebag Darrell legacy must live on thru us. I never have before, but now I am going to learn to play his AWESOME style. Starting NOW !
Well, this should help, Dimes amp settings are pre-gain 7 low 9 mid .5 high 8 and post-gain 10. \m/
Practicing some of his lead and it totally works. Learn a few signature styles and we make our own style as Dime no doubt did. I got most of my influence from Iommi and adding Dimes influence absolutely enhances it perfectly.
There will never be another guitarist quite like Dime, dude was just brilliant and is missed every single day.
At 1:17, first and only time I have ever seen Dime mess up. Lol
Where I said in my post, 1:17 when hes says "shit".
No I meant what I said before...1:17
1:15
he misses one more time at the Randall clinic.
That was just a happy accident
Most down to earth musician I have ever had the privilege to see perform. I thought Pantera was alright hearing them on their albums. Once I went to a show and saw Dime perform live I was hooked. Never looked back. RIP Dime thanks for everything
Dime you'll forever be missed, thanks for the great Riffs Getcha pull
I second what Troy said bro.....
He loved playing, he was like a little kid. Such a great player.
I'm so happy that one of my hero's had that shitty buzz issue with his guitar. xD
The intensity of the buzz can depend on proximity to the amp
Power up and let it ride brothas... cheers.
Love how dimebag still seems new to me and fresh. He was before social media the good ole days.
damn this guy was a great soul
Thank god we were blessed with Dimebag and he gave us the baddest fuckin riffs..RIP DIME....Loved his 'amp repair', just wrap the side of it, LOL
yupp man...when he's stripping the tunes like that.. you can feel the blues in all he's playing ..It's incredible..
what a guitarist
..Heaviest? ..pffffff
that's Tony Iommi.
@@kennyboy4401 ur trippin bruh
This guys is great, he reminds of many good dudes ive known over the years - good ole country boys swilling beer in their cargo shorts and metal shirt in the garage, riffing out on busted gear. He knows the Pantera stuff pretty well too.
I still think he’s the best guitarist next to EVH to EVER live
Getcha pull❤
He crushes EVH lol.
don't forget Randy
🤣🤣
@@swimssnakeyadventures9127 Actually he's nowhere remotely close to EVH but nobody is . The true undisputed King , the most famous guitarists or all time list EVH as their # 1 influence including Paul Gilbert , Jason Becker, Nuno , michael Schenker to name just a few . Darrell is just one of the millions who was massively influenced by EVH . Randy Rhoads adored EVH , listen to what Rudy Sarzo said:
GW: What were Randy’s main influences?
Listen to what Pat Metheny said: “ i think i've talked about how much i like allan in here before (you can do a search on his name).... but eddie, i don't think i have. i really think he is a great player and someone i always enjoy hearing. there was a time i went to vh shows as much as possible just to check him out. one time, i got to go back before a show and hear him warm up - which was absolutely mind blowing - he played more incredible music in that 30 minutes of warmup time than he did in the all the vh "shows" that i heard rolled together. he is so creative - it would be great to hear him expand into other areas - especially now that "heavy metal" is about as dead as it could possibly be (who would have thought that that would happen in 1984?) eddie is more like a jazz guy anyway to me - he is always searching for sounds and ideas it seems.”
Pat Metheny
Humble person..lovely person..
Super talented guitarist.
Hero of all..
Miss u dime...❤
some good laughs in this, always nice to see a Dime vid i havent seen before. (answers phone) "and you couldnt get in could ya, ha ha" LOL,cheers to Dime!
what a tragic way to go, I hope i’m going to heaven, because i wanna see this man, RIP to a legend who inspired so many people including me.
Watching this is going to make me smile for the rest of the week.
I honestly think that is one of the coolest guitars ever made. The southern cross is a beauty and a beast.
RIP Dime! Getcha pull!!!
from the man himself. thanks for sharing. priceless document
Can totally hear Eddie Van Halens influence. Awesome. Dime has to be One of the best players in the world . Such a loss. Especially how humble he was and all around a nice guy.
Reminds me of when I would watch this back in the days of early UA-cam, I was around ten
"hick bends" ...... haha!
Texas
Check it out
Texas blues.
Hail to the king baby!
What a band, what a guy, what a tragic loss.
To this day Everytime I see him, even in videos I've seen thousands of times. . I can't help but feel some kinda way.... Blown away at the ease he plays with, saddened by the Loss and all the amazing riffs and solos were missing out on... Most of all it still didn't feel real.... Your loved and missed to this day and forever more DIMEBAG DARRELL!
Back stage passes in 97' & 98' when they toured with White Zombie & Deftones then Ozzfest 98'..then with Damageplan on the family values tour..Awesome memories...R.i.P Dime & Big Vin🕊🥃🥃 #Blacktooth🍻🍻
These one on one dime vids hurt to watch...for fans ? R.I.P.
I was just thinking about that. It's hard to watch the PANTERA home videos. It's sad seeing Dime goofing off but at the same time it's some of the funniest shit I've ever seen.
yes..... my heart breaks watching him. no lie
Yeah it does hurt man. He was so down to earth and normal. Just like a regular dude off the street. Didn’t let the fame go to his head. Remembered where he came from.
Geezer. I shure miss you D. Saw my first show n ah year later you were gone. I Got hooked and then cheated. I pray you are shredding in thee afterlife and are at peace. You were one of ah kind. And kept it 100% about the music.
Dime you'll always be loved. Thanks for being my guitar teacher. :)
I love this guy he touched my soul as a child and made want to excel at guitar. He is relaxed in his musical ability because it was just fun for him.
Its gonna be 11 years next month and i still cant believe he's gone. He seemed so much like a cool guy. Most down to earth et nicest guy in metal got shot on stage... What a fucking ironic piece of shit of a story.. sad sad sad
R.I.P. Dime. Jamming with the metal gods. Everytime you hear thunder that you can feel in your chest, that's Dime. ⚡️🤘
I love revelation song, my fav all time along with cowboys....
LAYUCHEBI it’s a great video to showing them as kids lol love Darrell and vinnie
I love how he moves his entire body when does the bends in the main riff, thats pure feeling
"I lost er.... >WHACK< there it is!" This is a gold lesson in many ways!
this is the first time I have seen this video I love it when I find a new clip or anything of King Dime I have never seen!!! RIP King Dime
Cant say i havent watched this 10 times on 5 or more channels :) \m/
RIP Dime. 10 years has gone so quickly
man, he is sorely missed. wish I could see him live R.I.P Dime
I mever got to see either Pantera or Damageplan live. The 9/11 attacks saw to not seeing Pantera, Dime's death saw to not seeing Damageplan
I did several times and he blew my mind every time. Drunk laughing doing a shot never missing a note or screwing up even improving something more amazing on the spot while screwing around
How can you not love this man?
"Texas." lol hell yeah!
I've seen a million vids on youtube of dudes crankin some good shit but nothing touches dime!
Hear that Texas in there son he says hahahaha you're fucking legend man stay eternal
I was so inspired by this old video I actually tracked down his 1997 Pantera stout tour tshirt, bought one and tie dyed it, and it looks Awesome!!
Thanks for the lesson Dime, you showed me how much I suck at playing guitar.
This is him after 20-25+ years of playing. I'm sure you don't actually suck.
Most people suck compared to Dime lol you should check out some old footage of him at 17 playing guitar. He was incredible after only playing a few short years. I've had the pleasure of meeting him twice and both times the guy was incredibly gracious and humble. He was a good dude. Such a senseless murder. It bums me out just thinking about it
+Dr. Emmet Brown
I'm envious because you met this great man. Thanks for sharing.
Hey man, the more you play, the better! Just take inspirations and play what you like to! That's the best way to go about it.
Favourite Musician in my time and I sport his style daily ❤
