    For everyone who sees the video later, do not under any circumstances unscrew the drain plug on the oil filter as it will leak. Take a piece of cardboard from the packaging, put it behind the filter and unscrew it piece by piece.

      Daniel Osorio Hi, thanks! Yes, you can use sites like realoem or bmwfans (search with google) to search for the partnumber. You need the last 7 of your VIN number to get to the parts drawings, you can then use the original bmw / mini partnumber to order your parts on known carparts sites! Good luck and thanks again! Thanks for the video! Is it really necessary to change the plug each time you do the oil job? I guess just the o-ring is okay?

    • @Juupke
      @Juupke  5 років тому +2

      Its not necessary but well, if you look at what a new plug costs, a couple of euros, its not worth breaking the plug. Overtime they could wear down and become brittle especialy the hollow ones. I broke one once, and its a pain to get the broken bold out, so never doing that again. My advise change it for that fraction of the cost. Good luck!

      First change I would do after 7500-10.000km consider that a break in oil change then every 20.000km or every jear, if you can do it yourself its very cheap and fun to do!

      I changed today personaly in this motor after 8000km - I think it was unnecessary because I saw absolutely clean oil filter, clean oil etc. In my opinion changing oil sooner than BMW says is waste of money.

      Turn the ignition key to the ON position without starting the engine, Press and hold the TRIP knob in
      the instrument cluster until you see a Service Item on the display, Press the TRIP knob briefly to scroll the
      service minders that you want to reset, in this case the oil can. Press and hold the TRIP knob until RESET? appears on the display, Release the knob and then hold it again to confirm the reset. Good luck!

    • @Juupke
      @Juupke  5 років тому

      +Aaron Nicholas hi, the specific car is not in need of that service yet. If its a manual gearbox, then its fairly easy: remove trim pieces, loosen the fill plug, remove the drain plug, let the oil drain out. The replace the drain plug with a new one, tighten to torque specs, remove the fill plug, fill up with oil until it leaks around the fill hole, replace fill plug, miunt trim pieces and youre done.

    Another question, how do I reset service interval after oil and filters change? Is it possible to do it by myself?

    • @Juupke
      @Juupke  5 років тому +1

      Good question, try this: Press the start/stop button once (do not start the engine).
      Press and hold the Trip/Reset
      button for approximately 10 seconds until the first service job appears in the display. Scroll the service menu by repeatedly pressing the Trip/Reset button. For the desired service item, if a reset is possible “Reset possible” will be displayed. Start the reset by pressing the Trip/Reset button for 3 seconds.
      Confirm “Reset?” by pressing and holding the Trip/Reset button for 3 seconds. The status of the reset is indicated by a progress bar and “Reset in progress”. The reset is confirmed as “Reset successful”.
      Turn the ignition off and start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset. Again good luck!

      @@Juupke I've just tried this to no avail. No matter how long I'm holding the button, the screen contents just doesn't change. Car is Clubman 2016. Service time was in February, can it be the reason?

    • @Juupke
      @Juupke  5 років тому

      You should be able to get into the service menu anyway. And yes, I believe you can only change the interval, once the interval has been expired. If it says february its not that off. We do regular oil changes ourselves, in between the dealer visits for our newer cars. The normal cycle for a dealer would be every 2 years, We add the extra oilchange so it will be fresh oil every year. The older cars we do yearly ourselves because dealer history is not that important.
