    I’ve just found your channel and I love it! I have already learned so much even though I’ve been fumbling around with clay for a few years. As a crafter with severe ADHD thank you for the way your videos get right to the meat! I can’t follow channels that have a lot of chatter at the beginning.

      Oh thank you! Haha yes, we like to get straight into creating … more claying, less chatter 😉🥰

    Thank you. This was very helpful. I didn't know you could use it on unbaked clay. Love how you cut them and used the diagonal stripes. Great tips. These are very pretty.

    Thank you! I’ve been waiting for a video like this! Just wondering if you have any experience with using clear PET tape with polymer clay?

    • @myclayco
      @myclayco  8 місяців тому +1

      We have actually been having a little play with some PET tapes and will have a video coming 😊 But, the learnings we have had are … 1. Don’t bake them! 2. Use them kind of like a sticker 3. You need to secure them with a sealant, resin is ideal for this. Hope this helps!

    Hello! Thank you so much for this washi tape video! All the videos only show earrings, now I have other ideas. I can’t access your promo code under your description tab for the Washi tape shop because it’s cut off at the bottom and refuses to slide up to let me see it. Can you give it again in a reply? Thanx

    Beautiful. Do all washi tapes are oven safe?

    • @myclayco
      @myclayco  8 місяців тому +3

      Thank you ☺️ From our experience we haven’t had one yet that isn’t. We’ve done a fair bit of research and the information we’ve found is that most are heat resistant up to about 150 degrees c, so if you’re baking clay at the low temp of 130c they should be fine. If you’re worried though you can always test a little piece or put the tape on after baking 😊

    I have some Washi tape that I can't peel off the backing. Any suggestions?

    • @myclayco
      @myclayco  8 місяців тому +1

      Does it definitely have a backing? Most of the smaller ones don’t, it’s just some larger ones that do 😊

    Do you cure the uv resin with uv lights after? And does the glaze need to be just dried or baked again after?

    • @myclayco
      @myclayco  Місяць тому

      UV does need to cure under UV light (or in the sun). The glaze can just be dried, it’s normally touch dry in about 10 minutes 😊

    Thank you so much for sharing. Got a question. Can you use clear nail polish to seal the clay or color on top of the dried clay

    • @myclayco
      @myclayco  5 місяців тому

      My pleasure! Using nail polish isn’t recommended just because over time it will become tacky. We have a video on varnishes and UV resin if you want to check out some options 😊

    What temp are you baking them at and for how long?

    • @myclayco
      @myclayco  3 місяці тому +1

      We normally use Sculpey premo/soufflé or Cernit and bake them at 130c for minimum 30 mins 😊

      @@myclayco thank you. For some reason no matter how long I rub it on the clay it still comes up a lil or bubbles. The learning curve is driving me nuts. Lol

    I have a question, what about tapes like those book repair tapes for archival purposes?
    I'm making color recipe clay swatches, the problem is i don't want to store them the way other people do with all of them splayed out in binder folders or stuck to papers because i want to archive every single color i ever make as well as having the freedom to move them around so i always know what colors go into making that color and i never have to guess again how to mix-up that color, doing that though would make a lot of colors and i don't want to collect binders because i'll end up with too many.....
    Instead i want to line them up Infront of each other in a box with a homemade divider to keep them in place, the problem is the label sticker i want to put behind them with their color name, the pen ink i use to write on them will transfer onto the fronts of the clay colors, and i cant wash them off or alcohol it off, so i wanted to use clear archival tapes over the pen writing to protect the clay swatches, but i don't know if they'll react with the clays because they said they're a solvent based adhesive, something called acrylic resin solvent.
    I'm getting sick of searching for more alternatives because everywhere i turn there's something annoying getting in the way of me storing my color recipes this way >.>
    Originally i just wanted to place a white label on the back of them and writing the color names on the labels and just being done with it, but then the stupid pen ink transfers even after weeks of it drying on the labels not touching anything, now i thought clear tape, but now i'm worried about solvent sticky bits coming on to the clays....

      @myclayco  7 місяців тому +1

      I’m not too familiar with book repair tapes but my suggestion would be to check the components to see if they are oven safe. Washi tape works well because the top is paper based so can be baked at the lower temperatures of curing clay.
      As for your colour swatches, I’ve also seen ceramicists thread all their swatches onto large metal hoops like a set of keys on a keychain. If you’re worried about ink transferring to clay fronts, you could coat your label backs with a uv resin dome to seal it 😊 hope this helps in finding a solution to your swatching!

    • @myclayco

      Yep! That’s one of the great things about polymer clay baking at such a low temp 😊 we have plenty of tutorials in our channel, and will hopefully have another washi tape one soon!

    • @myclayco
      @myclayco  8 місяців тому

      Hmmm … that is a good question, we have not had ours do that before and we’ve tried a few! Almost washi tapes are heat resistant up to about 150c but I’m wondering if the one you used wasn’t and that’s why 🤔 Are you planning to resin or varnish over the top?
