    Very fun Chris! I’m going to look through the newspaper tomorrow to see what I can come up with for mine.

    Oh my gracious!! I think the extra line on the second painting was your subconscious knowing what to do before you did - because that turned out great!!
    Love it
    Thanks for sharing

      Thanks, Kelly! ♥️That might have been where that line came from because as soon as I did it I thought, "what was that?"

    Interesting to see how you dealt with the extra line. It worked out really well.
    I like both pieces.
    I enjoy just sitting and sticking papers down to prep a page. It's so easy, fun, and can help calm me as there's no right or wrong way to do it. There's something about just getting your hands touching papers and glue etc. Therapeutic.

      I see why you might think this is a Fibonacci spiral, but it's not quite the same. Still fun to play with and spirals can make an engaging composition 😊

    Hi Chris I really enjoyed watching your process with these 2. I really love them both. The 2nd one is my fave tho. Love that blue and then the yellow color added. I always appreciate how you are an awesome artist and yet still share your practices with us and encourage us to just do art. Thanks! Have a great long weekend!🎉❤

    I’ve got to do more of this. In the past my problem has always been that I’d do some collage and then when it came time to begin to paint over it, I’d fall in love with a particular chunk of it and that would sort of stall (or redirect) the creative process. Love how this came out.

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  2 місяці тому +1

      I can relate, Mark! It’s hard when a part of the collage grabs hold of you, but sometimes letting go of that attachment leads to even better creative breakthroughs. So happy to hear you loved how this piece turned out!

    I am loving the blue spiral! The map in the center as well as the other text you chose to go under it all works so cool together. I don't know how you water down your acrylic so ratio perfect but the color pops. The wax pastels also help. I really really like this. I've never used a blending stump before looking forward to trying now. Because I can never get my charcoal to listen lol.

      I’m really happy you like the piece! The map and text were random, but fun choices, and I’m glad the colors stood out for you-winsor blue is such a great color to paint with. Blending stumps are awesome for controlling charcoal-I think you’ll love using them! Good luck!❤️

      @lisaess6514 Thanks so much, Lisa! It’s fun to mix it up-sometimes simplicity just hits the spot, even for a “more is more” girl! 😄 I'm quite often in the "more is more" mindset.

    I love both of your creations Chris. When you used the charcoal in the first piece you said you used a blending stump??? What is that? I have never heard of that before. I use my fingers to blend charcoal but you have some great values in that sprial almost 3-D looking. As always thanks a million, love watching you create!!!!!

      Thanks so much, Janice! A blending stump is basically tightly rolled paper with the end pointed. They are quite easy to work and blend charcoal and other media them.

    When you put down the mostly large black pieces are you purposely putting them in those spots? Is there a particular aim/goal for where the pieces go or is it just random?

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  5 днів тому

      Hey JC! For the most part I try not to have too many dark pieces clumped together, but otherwise it's pretty random.
