I love watercolor and pen, which you do a lot of, so I love that. But I recently purchased a set of paint pens and am trying them out to see if this medium is worth investing in a really nice set. So maybe a few more of those?
I usually use watercolour and fineliner pen, but have recently been trying alcohol ink markers and fineliner for when I can't take water and brushes etc with me
I recently gifted a sketchbook to my girlfriend and she doesn't think her drawings are works of art but i tell her its fun doodles and not every artist or work of art started out a masterpiece. A sketchbook is for practice and fun. Her art is so cute and she likes to add poems or phrases alongside her art. She enjoys it even though sometimes she has a hard time with perfectionalism. I told her everyone started somewhere even the famous artists practiced until they got where they are today.
@@JayofallTrades I remember, as a self-taught mixed media artist, realizing one day that those of us who have the urge to create visual art don’t have to be Picasso or Matisse or da Vinci to be “artists.” There’s a whole world of wonderful art to see and to make out there by motivated, creative “ordinary” folks who study and practice what we love. That's adorable, and you are amazing to support her so well! I started with zendoodling and then art journaling from there. Has she seen anything from Noit Art, Niamh Baly, ShanoukiArt, Ranger Ink, Dyan Reaveley, etc?
I haven't done anything in any sketchbook even tho I've purchased many. Cuz I thot "A few minutes a day will take forever to make any real progress." But i bought my first sketchbook over 2 years ago & it's still empty: think how far I'd be had I spent just a couple of minutes a day for the past 2 years!! that does it: starting a new habit tomorrow morning. thanks for the push!! ;-)
I just found you on UA-cam and you've given me a whole new perspective on using a purse size Sketchbook. I bought a small Winsor&Newton A5, 80lb months ago that would be suitable to put in my purse. I used it once, then put it in the cupboard with my larger sketchbooks, where it sat until I watched your first podcast. I then dug it out and started to create, and I'm full steam ahead. Hi Paula, I came across your amazing videos recently and wanted to let you know how much they have inspired and helped me. My beloved husband passed away 18 months ago and I’m lost without him. I enjoy lots of crafts but have not found any interest or satisfaction recently. This is so satisfying to watch ❤ Definitely going to try all the ideas., especially the leaves and trees ones. I have never drawn directly with a pen, maybe this is a sign to give it a try..
I love all of your ideas Paula! Nothing makes me happier than watching another artist doodle in their sketchbook. I think I’m working in four sketchbooks right now. 😂 I’m addicted!
It's really fit for me, I don't like using anything else aside from a 0.5 pen and a 0.7 pen and my acrytic markers. This really matches my likings, and all I drew were weird lines that might signify coral reefs, my feeling that day, or simply nothing. The fourth idea would be sooo helpful to me so that I can continue my lines. I don't have much options, but when I could, I would also try adding a blue line between those black lines.
I am so happy to watch and learn from you! This video was exciting and let me know I’m on the right path with my Art journey! Black is always easy, size of journal perfect and easily available! Hopefully I will be seeing more of you, Thanks for sharing you art with me, Karen Dirmish, learner 16:1116:1116:11
Watching some of these ideas, and I will admit I didn't always see at the start where you were going with something, but then when you finished, I saw something very beautiful and your technique worked so well. I'm scared to use a pen. I've done a little of it, but only when following references which were also pen sketches. It's intimidating to begin and yet I understand how important it is to learn and improve.
Love this! So quick, so creative. Your teapot page reminded me of a Kaffe Fassett needlepoint design of blue and white pots. I am on a roll at the moment with negative watercolour painting and t's great having lots of ideas for repetitive motifs for this.
I'm so excited to see you have a Pekingese, I have a white and brown cuty. His name is Cody. Loved seeing your baby in the video. Anyways, I smile when I watch your videos and these ideas seem easy but so relaxing to do.
Paula, I am loving this series! I doodled a lot throughout my school years, at times to avoid boredom in classes! I am now in my 60s and looking at your videos reminds me of how my doodling got me through so much of school! It actually helped me maintain a straight A grade level all through college! 😂 I have to start again and incorporate it into my watercoloring and card making! Thank you for sharing your amazing talent! ❤
Sometimes sketchbooks are daunting. I buy them and leave them for a while and if i get i spiration i use it . Maybe being les perfectionistic will make it easier to create and doodling is helping me a lot with that. I love the leaves btw i must try that to.
I took an art class when I was 4. After the first class I refused to go back because he was trying to teach me how to draw circles, and I already knew how to. Now I am medically retired, and learning how to draw 😮. Loving it! You offer such inspiration!
I loved all of the ideas today! Some days paper and a Sharpie are my friend. Simple, yet so satisfying to the mind. I think I'll shall grab my sketchbook and liner pen and so some of these. They make me smile! Thank you for your inspiration, Paula!
Thank you so much I’m happy you liked them! Yes I certainly will, but full transparency I have watercolor ideas and then paint marker ideas coming first ☺️

Thank you so much! Knowing I’ve inspired you somehow makes me really grateful ❤️ doodle for yourself and for fun!!!
This is so satisfying to watch ❤ Definitely going to try all the ideas., especially the leaves and trees ones. I have never drawn directly with a pen, maybe this is a sign to give it a try..
I’m sure you’ll rock it! You are very talented! ☺️
@@bycreativepaula You're too kind 😍😊
I love all of your ideas Paula! Nothing makes me happier than watching another artist doodle in their sketchbook. I think I’m working in four sketchbooks right now. 😂 I’m addicted!
It is very addictive! Thank you so much friend! ❤️
Really enjoying your channel. Love how intuitive you are with your art. So inspiring. ❤
Thank you so much! I’m so happy you like the content! So grateful to have you here! 🥰
As someone who is new to drawing I found this very useful and helpful 😊 thanks so much for sharing
Glad it was helpful! ❤️ thank you!
Love these ideas! So impressed with the finished artworks framed on the wall ❤
Thanks so much! 😊 I’m glad you liked the mock ups!
Indeed very inspiring!! Nice drawings🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much 🥰
I am so happy to watch and learn from you! This video was exciting and let me know I’m on the right path with my Art journey! Black is always easy, size of journal perfect and easily available! Hopefully I will be seeing more of you, Thanks for sharing you art with me, Karen Dirmish, learner 16:11 16:11 16:11
Thank you so much Karen!! ❤️ I know that’s not how you meant it but 16/11 is mi birthday!!!
Thank you Paula! You never disappoint.
Thank you so much! 🥰
Thanks friend!
This is very good stuff Paula…Thank you! I’m very inspired 😁
So glad! ❤️ thank you!
Oh I’m so happy my videos make you smile! Oh yeah she’s my spoiled baby who likes to climb on to the desk for extra attention 😊
Thanks. I love your style of instruction.
Thank you!!! 😊 glad it’s helpful
The teapot page almost looks like a page full of postage stamps! ❤❤
Great ideas. I want to step up my doodling. I've favoured using words in the past but now want something more decorative. Thanks for the ideas.
You are so welcome!
Yay! I’m happy you like the series and that they’ve brought you these memories! Have fun and thank you so much! ❤️
Thank you, Paula! Love all the ideas❤❤❤❤❤❤

Oh yay! I'm so glad! ☺️ thank you!
Sometimes sketchbooks are daunting. I buy them and leave them for a while and if i get i spiration i use it . Maybe being les perfectionistic will make it easier to create and doodling is helping me a lot with that. I love the leaves btw i must try that to.
Yessss! At least use one of the ones you have to just try stuff! Give it a name and go for it! It can be your fearless and fun sketchbook!!!
Love this, thank you Paula.
Thank you for the ideas and therapy 😊
You are so welcome! ❤️
Thank you! Very helpful!
I love your ideas. You are so inspirational.
Thank you so much! ☺️
I took an art class when I was 4. After the first class I refused to go back because he was trying to teach me how to draw circles, and I already knew how to. Now I am medically retired, and learning how to draw 😮. Loving it! You offer such inspiration!
Thanks for sharing!! And thank you so much! ❤️
