    So enjoy seeing you do landscapes! This will be so helpful in getting out of a slump; remembering it's not always the final product. But I do love these works. Thanks Chris.

    I enjoyed both paintings but I’m drawn to the second one more with the blues and greens. When I feel like I’m in a slump and that can be after not painting for a few days to a few weeks, I pop on YT videos like yours to help inspire me. Love seeing the texture and collage peeking out here and there. I’m almost finished painting in my first art journal and it’s a crazy collection of different things. Thanks for the inspiration Chris!

      I appreciate it, Sherri! It’s great to hear that the texture and collage caught your eye. I also turn to YT video for inspiration, and I’m thrilled mine can be part of that creative boost!😊

    Great video- it's a huge challenge to get out of a slump. I agree with having some sort of beginning process to your art, the comfort of a process (at least at the beginning lol) is underrated. Thanks so much for articulating these issues that are in our artist heads but hard to pinpoint sometimes. Excellent job!!

      Thanks so much, Jasmine! I appreciate your kind words.❤️ I know I get in slumps usually when I least expect it, but having some processes ready to jump into usually helps.

    One of the artists on Facebook showed how to take extra paint & add it to a small canvas & then turn it into an abstract painting. I balance it as I add the colors & shapes. As a bonus it allows me to use less paper towels & not having to change my rinse water out as much. Pretty cool.

      Hey Laurie! I use a lot of my left over paint to tone canvases for future paintings. I'm a big fan of not wasting paint.♥️

    Such great insight. I like the idea of: I don't have to love it but it keeps me moving forward. I feel stuck a LOT so it's a real challenge for me. And then often, once I get started, I get lost in the weeds so I stop out of frustration. I enjoyed watching you persevere with the second one--it made me think that maybe I stop too soon? Hmmm.
    And, great advice about going back and looking at older pieces. I've done this and it has sparked new ideas or new variations on a theme many times. Love your work, Chris. So glad I happened upon your channel.

      I’m really glad you found the video helpful, Mrs. Noodles! It’s so easy to stop when we’re frustrated and feeling stuck, but sometimes persevering a little longer can make all the difference. @@chrisloudart thank you Chris, as always your videos are inspiring. I watch Bob Burridge as well, he's good and I enjoy watching his videos also. Yes we're hoping that I'll be helping mum move in this coming weekend. What with the bad weather, and tradies that just didn't show up when they're suppose to, it set the dead line for finishing over time, giving us a 2 week difference. We're now waiting on the plumber/gas fitter to sign off on all the water and gas lines, and give us a certificate and compliance number then I can order the gas bottles for mum. Still going to be busy for a while. I'm looking forward to your next video. Cheers!

      @@chrisloudart well, by the time we emptied the container we were exhausted! So she's spending the night with me for the last time and tomorrow I'll get her bed sorted. And her loom will need setting up, a lot of things will probably go back in the container to be sorted for trash, charity or sell. Then I can get started on my workshop. We managed to get the last box out of the container then the sky opened out with torrential rain. So now another life chapter begins for mum and I as she ages more, my roll as carer will change as there will be more to do for her. I'll be doing a video of the house and the outside, and maybe the cheeky lyre bird will show up, its been quite bold lately. I'm looking forward to your next video. Cheers!

    Hey Chris,
    I often see you using a brush to blend the colors on the paper, in this video for example 1.21 min. Can you tell me what kind of brush this is?
    Thanks
    Oh yes and these are beautiful works again. Have you done anything with it on a large format?
    Greetings

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  2 місяці тому +1

      Hey Marc! The brush I used to blend with here is a 1/2 inch mop brush. I also use a 1 inch mop brush quite often.
      I'm planning on using two of these as inspiration for two medium size canvas paintings (18x24 inch, 45x60 cm) or maybe slightly larger, but I probably won't get to those for a few weeks due to some other projects I'm working on. 😊

    Hi Chris,
    You evoke some really important issues and I don't think there is an arist alive who has not been through those blank moments. I get those periods when I don't have inspiration, buttry not to feel guilty about it, or any sense of responsibility. When the urge returns it returns. And sometimes, I just pick up some colours and paint - nothing, but just paint and make marks and then leave it. And then return the following day.
    at any rate, the discussion is a really long and complex one...

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  3 місяці тому

      Thanks, Emmanuel! You're absolutely right-those periods of no inspiration can be tough, but I love how you approach it without guilt. Just picking up colors and painting, even without a plan, can be so freeing and in my experience leads to something special later on. Are you back to school soon?

  • @puresunrays80
    @puresunrays80 3 місяці тому +1

    I love using collage as a starting point.
    There are many reasons we do art, and a lot of them are not to create that wonderful masterpiece to sell.
    Being able to do art for the inspiration it brings, the emotional release, the unlocking of paralysis, to see what feels good, for fun, are all very valuable reasons to create. And the end results of the piece are kind of irrelevant.

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  3 місяці тому +1

      Well said! Art can be so much more than just making something to sell. The process itself-whether it’s for inspiration, emotional release, or just for fun-can be incredibly fulfilling, and that’s what truly matters to me.
