Chevy or GM Gear Shift Selector is Loose // The Fix // Stuck in Park
Вставка
- Опубліковано 17 лип 2024
- I hopped in my truck to take my son to school, and I was shocked to find that my truck would not go into gear. The next thing I noticed was how loose and floppy my gear shift selector was (the actual gear shifter itself in the truck). It basically was sliding around and took essentially no effort to move it which is unusual.
Luckily a quick internet search showed me what to look for, but the help videos out there were not real clearly filmed or explained. One guy had the bushing on backwards. Another guy recommended you rip your dash open first to see if there’s a problem in there, and if there isn’t THEN go under the truck to check this part… and I’m thinking to myself “why wouldn’t I go check the easier place FIRST!?!?”
Since I wasn’t in a big hurry and I was lucky enough to only be stranded at home, I thought I would try to help someone else out with a clearly filmed video, explanation, and part numbers. I really hope this helps bail someone else out of some trouble! God bless y’all!

In 2016, we decided to move out of town with our two boys so that they could grow up outside, raising animals, working hard, and learning to love their family. Some days it feels like we've bitten off more than we can chew, but there is always something interesting going on around here. We wouldn't trade our lives for anything now! Our videos show you what it looks like from day to day in our life. House and building projects, gardening, firewood, raising animals, hunting, fishing, gathering mushrooms, and much more. - Навчання та стиль
This video saved what could have been a bad day!! Mine broke while shifting back to park in a Staples parking lot, it only got to reverse and was stuck there. Watched your video and walked the 3 blocks to/from the Autozone. THANKS!
Awesome Dennis! That was my hope when I made this video. Responses like this make it worth it.
Mine was at target in reverse as well. Watched this while there got underneath, put it in park, started it back up, drove home and took my fiance's car to oreilys. Now I'm back rolling. Thanks for the video man. Epic save
Awesome! Great to hear stories like this.
My daughter is doing the same thing we paid a man $250 he only fixed the cable. He took all the parts around from the in fact I don't believe he's coming back and me and my daughter have been left stuck without being able to make it to work grocery store anything for the past 2 days and Monday morning is back to work. At this point I don't know who to turn to far is fixing it but I do know I had to give it to God we're actually going into 2 years new here in Huntsville Alabama and it's sad when people do you like this when all you're trying to do is make it. We're not mechanics but if you could tell us where we might can go to or find someone to help us get this fixed it will be greatly appreciated please and thank you. Sad part is this is my 22 year old daughter first vehicle.
Sorry to hear that! Did you get it fixed?
Thank you so so much!!!! On our way to a rented cabin with our boat and suburban packed with our family of 5 and the shifter wouldn’t work. We prayed and found your video! Saved our trip! Thank you so much!!!♥️🙏🏼♥️
That’s fantastic! Have a safe and fun trip!
I was just in the airport loading area, and mine fell off in reverse. I ended up using a hair tie. It got me home and saved me money on a tow truck. So, thanks for taking the time to make this video, saved me all kinds of hassle
Wow! Glad you got it
You’re a life saver, brother.
I was lucky enough that it happened in park in my driveway. You saved what I thought was going to be a bad Friday. If you’re ever in west Texas, the beers are on me.
Awesome Bryan! I was born and raised just west of Corpus Christi. Texan for life!
Currently, in medical school, and man, you saved me a full day of missing classes and stress. I had the same exact issue. Thank you so much.
Awesome! Glad it helped you out
Just wanted to thank you, I had the same problem with my truck. It saved me, thanks from Canada
Glad I could help out! Happy to see this video is even crossing borders!
You just saved me!!! I was stuck inside a car wash when this happened to me and 33 weeks pregnant. I managed to shimmy myself under the vehicle and the very kind car wash attendant was able to get the cable reconnected and me out of the wash. I’m safely at home now and have a fun project for my husband when he gets home.
THANK YOU SO MUCH !! You’ve got my subscription and my husband owes you! ❤️
Wow! That’s amazing! Kudos to you for being so resilient and adapting to the situation!!
As someone who gets a lot of thankful comments from viewers, I just have to say that you are also so deserving of praise for this video. I just had this issue and I was able to pop mine back on for a temporary fix while I order a replacement bushing. Thanks so much for saving me a bunch of money dude!! Much love 🙏🏼
Thanks for that! Appreciate the positivity!
This video saved our family trip to my daughter’s pageant, 2 hours away. Literally had the whole family loaded up, went to shift into drive, to pull away, and the gear shift had nothing, just like the video shows. One trip to the parts store & 15 minutes of work, then we were on our way. Thank you so much for sharing.
Good to hear! Thanks for sharing your story.
Thanks for the video. Mine broke while putting it into park in a Home Depot parking lot. Luckily, I was able to call my mother for a ride to the car parts store. Picked up the same Dorman package and a pair of needle nose pliers. 5 minutes later I was back up and running, thanks to this video!
Glad I could help!
This literally just happened to me. I called my insurance for a tow truck and was ready to just tow it home. I was praying, and God said check youtube. This video came up first and low and behold this is exactly what happened. I fixed it, and now my Suburban is good. Thank you so much, sir!! God Bless you!!!
Awesome! Love this story! Glad you sought God and He helped you. Blessings and peace to you!
Thank you so much! Im a 19 year women that doesn't know nothing about trucks, but your video saved me from being stranded! 🙌🏻
Way to go Jade! Got it done!
Hey man, I know it's thankless and I know it's a real pain in the ass to do stuff and operate the camera, so let me take a moment to say thank you for helping people out just because you're a decent human being. I wish I could buy you a beer.
Thank you Bam! Glad I could help you out and thank you for watching.
With all the financial uncertainty in today's economy, this saved me hundreds of dollars. I went to take my kid to school, and this happened to me. After a quick google search, I found this video. Off to Auto Zone I went to buy the exact part you mentioned. It was a little challenging to get the bushing into the cable housing, even though I used the C-Clamp and definitely tough getting the cable onto the transmission peg, I ended up using some vice grip pliers to help get the bushing onto the peg because it's gives you a lot more pressure. I sent $12 when it could have cost me several times over that. Thank you!!!
You are certainly welcome! Glad this helped you.
I was just stuck at home after picking up my kids from school. Glad the school was only a block away. Came home did a google search and found your video. It was exactly what you said. The shifter cable came off. Thank you again.
Thanks for sharing!
Just so happened to be out with my wife, and we saw someone who was stuck in a drive-through with this problem. Finding this solution helped that man to know the problem. Thanks for helping him
Very cool! Thanks for sharing your story!
Another saved day!!! Jumped in the truck this morning, put it into reverse, while backing out something felt funny with the shifter when i tried to put it into drive, and there i was stuck with my 5 yr old son. Found your video, and 15 minutes we were on our way. He made his field trip at summer camp, and I made my 9am pre construction meeting. Saved the day, brother. Thank you.
Great to hear! Glad I could help out in a small way.
Just want to say this video literally saved our whole day. This ended up happening to us while we were out and about with our children. Thankfully we were near the auto store and my husband was able to get the bushings and we were all so very grateful when it fixed the issue. People like you that do these videos really make so much of a difference for people. Thank you for taking the time and detail to do this video. You have no idea what sort of positive impact this can have on so many people. It was such a blessing to stumble upon your video today when we were at a complete loss as to what our issue even was. Thank you.
Great to hear that Tori! Stories like that makes the video worth it for me!
Thank you for this video! My family was stranded two hours from home at a gas station pump in our suburban pulling a camper. Hubby was trying to get a tow truck on a Sunday when I found your video. Phew! Could have been an awful day. 🙏🏻
Thanks for sharing! Glad this helped you.
I just pulled in my driveway and had thr same thing happen. I googled the issue, found your video and in under 5 minutes the problem was diagnosed & confirmed. Thank you so much for making this video!!!
Good to hear! Thanks for the feedback!
Broke down in Texas, 1 mile away from an AutoZone. This video saved my bacon. He even tells you what size to use so you’re not fumbling around underneath the truck. I was able to do it with a pair of channel locks. Thank you so much for this video. God bless
Great to hear that this helped you out!
A quick search and I came across your video. This is exactly what happened to me. It can be a challenge getting the bushing in to place without damaging it and the c-clamp helps. The socket is a creative workaround. You are a lifesaver!
Glad it helped! Thanks for your comment.
My son recently got a truck and this happened to him. Thankfully it wasn't too far from home. At first, I thought this was going to be very expensive fix. Thanks to your video, this allowed me to get him home and get it fixed. Thanks for posting this. Looks like you've been helping a lot of people with this video. God bless you and your Dad.
Great to hear! Thank you for the kind words
I can't thank you enough for posting this video, it saved me big time yesterday!!!!!! I parked my Tahoe in an underground parking garage in downtown LA (70 miles from my house) and when I was leaving at the end of the day the gear shift was like a limp noodle. Everything you described was spot on and I was able to repair it well enough to get me home. You are the man!!!!! Thanks for taking the time to post this video and for ultimately saving me a really bad (and expensive) day.
Awesome! I was in quite a different predicament than you but glad this got you the result you needed!
Nice job. I owe you a beer if I ever see you in person. Happened today on my 2013 sierra denali. This is an example of the good side of the internet.
Right on! Thanks for the kind comment.
Thank you for sharing!!! We were stranded in a hotel parking lot when ours came undone and lucky enough to be across the street from a parts store and was able to get the parts and with the helpp.of some other guests got it fixed!!
That’s awesome! Glad you were in a safe place with easy access to the parts!
Dude you have no idea the stress I was going through in this mid August heat in Phoenix while dealing with this same issue on my 2014 Chevy Tahoe. You’re such a life saver. Your video saved me so much time and I bet A lot of money as well. Thank you for what you do brother.
Awesome man! That is exactly why I made the video!
Thanks a bunch for this! I was literally stuck at a Walmart parking lot hoping for an easy fix and not having to pay for a tow truck. Was stuck in reverse, hopped underneath the truck and popped it back in place. Just got the part and will fix it myself!
Great to hear!
Well as many others have said, you saved what I thought was going to be a really bad day. It happened at the gas station while getting ready to pull off. It stopped in neutral. Simple fix thanks to you.
Thanks for sharing - glad you were able to keep rolling
This video was a life saver, I feared the worst. Luckily, my truck broke 3 houses away from home. I was able to find the part and fix it. Great Video. Worst part was trying to press in the plastic bushing.
Awesome Mike! Glad I could help.
My man, you’re the best! This just happened to me at work as I was trying to go home. You showed me exactly how to fix it. Thank you so so much!
Hey Capn! Glad you got it taken care of! Love your cereal since I was a kid!
I am stuck in a parking lot right now in our GM truck. June in Phoenix. 😵💫 Thankfully the engine and AC run! Husband is on his way to rescue us and I sent this video. If this is the problem it should save us a ton of time!
Good luck! Hope it worked out.
Just happened at a client's house. Saw your video and zip tied it back on and had my wife follow me to autoparts store. Saved me from having to get it towed. Thank you for your video!!!
That is awesome!
Thanks so much for uploading this video. I was at a gas station. Tried to put my 09 Tahoe into drive and it got stuck in reverse. Got under the car and bingo. I saw the problem immediately. A couple of notes for others..
-You will be able to see this problem on the driver side.
-If the gear is engaged (like mine was in reverse), then you will have to manually push the lever into park to get the cable reattached. I suggest putting the emergency brake on to be more cautious.
Thanks again for posting! God bless!
All good advice Shane! Thanks for watching and sharing your experience.
Saved my back side, I didn't panick but I was close, had a shedule to keep, fixed in 30 seconds and away I went, grabbed a bushing on the way!
Thank you for the short and sweet vid
Good deal Rob! Glad it was helpful
This video saved my butt at a gas station. My son put it back on and it got me home. FABULOUS video and luckily the first one that pulled up when I searched my cars symptoms!
Wow awesome! Glad this helped you out of a jam! Really appreciate the “super thanks”!
Just did this repair for a friend. I used a 14mm box end wrench and a vice grip instead of the clamp and socket, and it felt much easier than it appeared as shown.
Glad it worked out well!
Thank you so much for making this video, my suburban had this problem yesterday. I was planning on taking it in but followed your video instructions and sure enough it was the bushing that came off. Went to Autozone and found the same part kit and now it is fixed. Thank you for saving me a ton of money on repairs, I hope you life is blessed!
Awesome griley! Have a good one
This video saved my ass, i was in reverse when the piece broke, used hammer to get it into park, then zip tied it up to get me to the store!
Glad this helped you get it done!
Thank you sir... I just spent a lot of money on a DOD delete. 2 weeks later this happened and you saved me from having to put my truck back in the shop
Very welcome!
I am so thankful I found your video brother! Same thing happened to me as I was backing out of my driveway and it would shift into drive while I was in the middle of the street blessing brother!
Awesome man! Glad it was helpful to you!
Thank you so much! Thought I had major tow and transmission work coming.
You solved the problem in 3 minutes! I’m a subscriber for life.
Hey Jamie! That is awesome. Glad I could help ease the burden of what seemed to be a big problem!
Perfect video at the perfect time. My wife and I just came out of the store and found ourselves stuck with this exact problem. Lucky for us, your video was easy to follow and right to the point. Also, there was an auto parts store in the shopping center we were at that had the exact Dorman part you identified. Many thanks! I’d give you a 2nd thumbs up if I could.
Fantastic! Nice to have the parts store right there!
Thank you for this. Saved our ass when a coworkers truck was stuck at a gas station.
Glad it helped you guys out!
This video saved my friend a lot of money and aggravation. Thank you so much
Hey glad to hear that!
Thank you so much for making this video! We were stranded last night, but my husband was able to get us home after watching.
Awesome! Stories like this one are exactly why I made this video!
Legit at midnight I got up to go to the store and get the baby some milk and bam the gear shifter is free floating won’t engage the gears….. fearing the worst and some expletives later, my daughter does some googling and finds your video. I roll under the truck and just like your video it’s just dangling there, low and left 😏.
Thankfully she had the frame of mind to process and look for a solution. All I gotta do now is wait 6 more hours for the parts store to open up and apply what you show in the video…. Hope it works. Thank you for being the solid dude you are and providing this information. God bless brother.
Glad I could be of help. Congrats on raising a smart daughter! Take care of those babies it’s an important job
@@PoplarRidge off to the parts store, I’ll update when it’s done
All done. Thank you! $12 dollars and some change. Saved me a tow bill, mechanic finders fee and $arm and leg labor charges.
Plus you got the satisfaction of figuring it out and fixing it for yourself! Way to go!
Thank you bro God Bless.
I have a friend who has autism & his 80 year old fathers truck broke down & lets say i wouldn't have been able to do it without your help. Thank you for teaching me how to help these people more in life. Im grateful.
Very cool man! Keep making a positive impact!
@PoplarRidge that's all you man. God works through people and j strongly believe you're one of them. Thanks again.
Excellent! Mind came off once I was leaving Walmart. Luckily, I was only a mile from home, had my GMC truck towed home, followed your instructions the next day, back up and running 😂 Thank you so much!
Good stuff!
Thank you so much for this video. It saved us so much time of towing our truck to a mechanic.
Glad to hear that!
Dude I can't tell you how much of relief this video was! I was sure I was out $$$$ but this is exactly what happened. Heart attack and auto shop ripoff averted!
I know the feeling!
I was driving the company van today and as I was leaving it did this to me. I was worried I blew the transmission! Your a life saver
Glad I could save you from being fired! 😂 You should ask for a raise for identifying the problem for them.
Just drove to the cottage and went to move the truck and the thing broke. I quickly went to UA-cam and found your video.
Thanks! This was a very useful video!
Great to hear!
Thanks man! I had to get my truck towed home. I did watch that video where the guy shaves it off but thankfully I came across your video.
Glad it was useful for you P4P!
Dude you honestly saved my dad from a mental break down a truck we're taking to my brother done south just had that happen and he's been trying to fix another truck and overall stressful day but this was the edge for him luckily I found your video and seen the issue told my dad and you honestly saved him from a mental break down thank you so much for this knowledge
Wow! Man so glad I could help out.
Thank you for the video, got stuck and had no idea what to do. Fixed mine temporarily with a zip tie. Thanks again!
Glad it helped!
Thanks dude! This was super helpful my wife was stranded and this got her back in the road👍
Great Jameson! Glad you got her fixed up.
Man, thank you so much for this video! This just happened and I thought it was gonna cost a fortune to fix which it probably would have if I would’ve taken it to a mechanic!
Awesome! Glad it helped you save some money Eddie
🎉THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!!! You have no idea how much time & $ you saved me today. Stopped at the gas station this AM & when I went to start my truck the gear shift was loose & wouldn't put the truck in gear. Your video got me to Advanced Auto & work. I sincerely thank you!!!!
Glad I could help!
Same thing happened to me when all the parts stores were closed, I saw your video and simply connected it back. I didn’t have the plastic part but thankfully I was down the street from the house, and I just connected it on and it went into gear. I will get that part in the morning. Thanks.
Glad you made it safely
God bless. Literally just pulled up to a customers house in my work truck, shifter came loose. Watched the video and was able to drive it back to the shop lol
Awesome - glad this helped out
Thank you for the taking the time to do this video! This happened to me yesterday in the mall parking lot, i was about to call a tow truck when i found your video on you tube. Was able to fix the problem right away. You saved me money and i was able to get back home safely. Thank you again.
That’s great! Big relief to know the problem and get it fixed without extra expense
Same issue on my 2012 2500. Thankfully was in neutral so I got towed home across my small town. Before I checked UA-cam I took the dash apart…oh well. No biggie. I was excited to find things under my truck just as you showed - excited because that meant the problem was diagnosed and solution straight forward! Thank you.
You’re welcome. I’m a certified UA-cam mechanic - meaning I’ve learned to always check there first! LOL
There are no words that could possibly express my absolute thanks to you! You are amazing!!! THANK YOU!!
You're very welcome!
Add me to the list of folks thankful that you took the time to make this vid. It's the first thing that popped up in my search and an hour later we're on the road again.
Hey man - that’s awesome! Glad you’re up and running again.
maaaan thank god for this video seriously thank you bro for making this video ..i was on the freeway at 6 am here in california and it started to rain like crazy and i was going uphill so i went to shift my car into 3rd gear to go uphill well the shifter was like exactly how you showed yours all wobbly and not grabbing onto any gear i started to panic and got off the freeway i couldn't put into park or reverse and to make it worse i was running out of gas so i just jumped back on the freeway and headed back home barely made it on E to my place finally i got the bright idea to put the emergency break on to actually stop the car i was just gonna turn it off and wish for the best so i finally got into my driveway put the emergency break on and turned the car off came inside my place was just bummed out was about to bite the bullet and call my mechanic to come help when i decided to do some research and it lead me to your video so i went outside and got under the car and sure enough that cable was disconnected from the shifter my car is a bit older so its not exactly the same issue with the plastic part but i was able to figure it out with the help of your video brother ..thanks again for putting this out there to help people like me..
You’re welcome! Thanks for sharing your story. Glad this helped you out even though it was a different vehicle.
huge shout out to you !!! first thought was the dash then saw this so i check n previous owner held it up with zip ties , it wasn’t even connected , 5 min fix 🙏🙏
Oh wow! That’s crazy. Glad it’s fixed right.
Thanks for making this video. I had the same issue happen to my 2011 silverado out of the blue. Wouldn't crank, wouldn't start, and gear shift lever is loose and shows "R" on instrument panel. I couldn't pull any ODBII code. I was stuck! Then I spotted your video. It was perfect. After watching, I slid under the vehicle and there was the loose cable end at the transmission exactly as you had shown it. You saved me HOURS of work trying things. I really really appreciate your efforts! Thanks so very very much!!!
Fantastic! Glad my fix helped you out!
Thank you for this video friend! My Suburban did the same thing. After a better key word search, I found your video! I was able to find the cable within seconds and saw that bushing had broken. I went and got the part and had it fixed within 10 min. I was deflated thinking o was going to spend thousands of dollars to fix. $30 later for the part and a C-clamp, and I was running like a charm. Thank you so much!
Excellent!
Your video just saved me from a lot of headache and money! Thank you so much!
I'm so glad!
Hey buddy!!! Thanks A Whole Lot!! People like you save lives!! Thank you Brother💯👌
Thank you Samuel!
Just had this happen to me went to park at my house and only got to reverse, was able to get a ride to the o'rileys near me and got it taken care of in less than a half hour, thank you so much for the video!
Oh wow! Glad this helped you out of a jam!
May of 2024, you are awesome, was waiting for a tow and decided to look into the shifter and came across your video, had to ask for help as it was unsafe to put it on drive, about to drive home and get it fix.
Thanks
Glad this helped you out!
This video save the day for me! It was 7:00 a.m. I stopped at the gas station to get fuel and some breakfast. I get back in my vehicle to leave and I could not shift out of park. Gear shifter had play and was not catching just like yours. I googled the problem in this video came up. I then got under my truck and that's exactly what the problem was. I was able to slide it back on the transmission and at least get it to go in drive until I got to the auto parts store. 🤘😎🤘
Awesome Mike!
Yes this video just save me from my 2015 Chevy avalanche yep went to the doctors went Park went to go leave and all of a sudden my gear shifter was still going crazy I was freaking out panicking found your video put it on made it home three blocks and now I'm fixing it save me a toe
Great to hear!
Man Glad I found you you just saved me a $200 tow bill and who knows what the mechanic would charge.
Glad you got it figured out Jeffrey!
You have no idea how helpful this was. You are the man!!
That’s awesome! I’m glad it was helpful!
Video definitely saved my ass. I was leaving the gym when all of a sudden this happened to me. First video I looked up on UA-cam and fixed my ride before having someone come get me. Thanks!
Awesome! Keeping you and your truck healthy
Thank you sir!
Helped me this morning get to work!
God bless y’all!
Great to hear! Keep grinding
Thank you! This video just saved us! With the help of your video and my daughter’s hair ties you helped us not be stranded on Christmas Weekend at an ice skating rink. 💯
Great to hear! Have a Merry Christmas!
Yo! Thank you! Very helpful! Luckily I just pulled into my driveway, was stuck in neutral.. put the cable back on to put it in park and going to pick up bushing right now. Life saver! Thanks again man!
No problem 👍
Very helpful. Saved me. I was stranded out of town with exact same problem. Got the 14041 clips. Smallest one was the best fit just like you said. Thank you so much. Only thing I had to do different was cut off extra plastic. Flat side is towards the tranny. And then snap a C clip into the groove of the peg. Works like a champ. Thanks again
Excellent. I’m glad Ken!
I just want to say thank you for this video . I was about to tear into my steering column until I came across your video. That was the exact issue I had on my 2004 Silverado . Again, thank you !
You're welcome!
This just happen to me about an hour ago, in a drive though, yah. Looked on UTUBE on what to do and your video popped up. Crawled under the truck and hooked it back up and went home.
Couldn't put it back in park, just shut it off and put the break on, home sweet home. THANKS! You just saved me MUCHO DINERO. And yes, HOT and COLD will do it, Texas here, tempt today, 26 degrees.
Hey man! Glad I could help you out!
This happened to me while picking up the wife from the airport. Was able to field fix it in a jiffy and get home. Thanks for the great video!
Glad to hear it!
I had to install two of these pos parts, first one last one drive, second was an actual part for this and it was a joke.
TOTAL WASTE OF TIME TO ME, I APPRECIATE THIS VIDEO AND SUCH.
WHAT I DID WAS USE MY MACHINING SKILLS AND DID IT PERMANENT FOR LIFE FIX.
Took off the swing trans arm, ground off the small rod thing and drilled a hole instead. A bolt with half threaded end and smooth first inch or so and several washers to help freely move and a Teflon nut to stay for life. Took 30 minutes for that, and hours of irritation taking out these pos parts and installing them grrrr
IF YOU HAVE THE ABILITY I STRONGLY SUGGEST DOIN WHAT I DID
THANKS FOR THE HELP MAN IT GOT ME ON THE RIGHT PATH!!
Sounds like a better fix. It’s dumb they used a plastic bushing there to begin with
Thank you for this video m. You helped me from being stranded. God Bless you and yours.
Fantastic- glad you’re able to keep on driving.
This excellent video saved me some serious downtime with my work truck and a lot of cash. Thank you!!!
Great to hear!
I’m gonna repeat what someone else said, this video also saved me from what I thought was going to be a bad day! Randomly my truck just wouldn’t go into park when I pulled into my spot at work and kept trying to go forward so I set the emergency brake and looked under to find the linkage had fallen off.
Glad it worked out for you!
Thank you very much! I find this video at a very important situation. Keep up the good work sir ! 🙏🏾🧡
Thank you very much! Glad it was helpful!
Thanks so much for your help bro.
I can't believe that we trust in small piece of plastic, I can't imagine if this happens in middle of the freeway... OMG
It is crazy Jabes! Glad you got it fixed!
Thanks man, this video saved my ass. It was in the 30s a couple of mornings ago when I was in northern Michigan and my suburban did the same thing and I was able to fix it on the side of a 2 track.
Glad you got it going!
Thanks your video just got me out of the parking lot I was stranded in in less than 5 minutes of Googling and it's right at the beginning of the video. I'll have to watch the rest of it later.
Fantastic William! Thank you for watching and for the “super thanks” you sent!
Got me out of a jam today! Thanks for the help! Blessings to you!
Great to hear! Blessings back to you sir!
I appreciate you it just happened to me in my Tahoe and had just got off work. Thanks man.
Glad it was helpful. Not to bad to fix once you know what it is.
Did this repair for a friend. Used a vise grip and a 14mm box end wrench instead of the clamp and socket. Felt much more manageable than that appears
I’m glad you worked through it!
Thanks so much . Truck drove fine to work . Then I had to work over which ticked me off then get to my truck and boom just like you, all play and would not go in gear. So yeah I just put it on just to get me home lol.
Stuff like that always happens when you’re already having a bad day, doesn’t it!?
The bushing for my 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 was a dorman 14110. It was a small black flexible piece that pushed into the linkage with my fingers, and then pushed onto the small rod without tools. I wish I could post a pic because only one piece from the box fits. The rest are for something else. Thanks for pointing out the issue!
Thanks for sharing what worked for you. This comment will surely help others.
This helped!!! We rented a UHaul and it didn’t shift gears- had my fiancé check under the truck and yep he put it back and boom it shifted. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
you got a calming ass voice bro. This shit just happened in my driveway and I was a lil pissed and now im chill.
LOL - glad I could help bring some calm to the storm.
Thanks dude! I'm electrician by trade, definitely not a mechanic. This happened to me in the middle of a mud hole, coming out of the fishing hole this morning. Bushing had enough left to put it back on and get home. 👍👍
Glad to hear it helped man. Hope you caught something!
