  • I've owned (2) Avalanche trucks in the past. Currently the 2009 has just over 210,000 miles but believe this is the first vehicle I've ever run in to a shift lever bushing falling out. It happened one sunny afternoon when pulling in to a spot to eat lunch.
One of the more rare times when I didn't have any tools with me, the incident happened not 3 blocks from (3) different aftermarket stores as in Advance Auto, O'Reilly's and Autozone. All (3) stores, similar to Napa or what you see on line sell the same aftermarket "kit" that might work for some Ford or GM shift lever to shift cable options.
But NOT and I repeat "NOT" for the 2009 Chevy Avalanche.
I resolved my issue by substituting a 5/16 x 3/4 long Shoulder bolt, revised shift lever at the transmission, (2) 5/16 SST washers, (2) 5/16 nylon washers and one 5/16 ID x 7/16 O.D. x 1/2 long nylon spacer. Parts total = $11.30
Lengthy video but shows what I did!
