I freak9ng love youtube a d people like you. My buddy 2013 did this and he has been car less for a week now. He had no internet so doesn't know the Hugh advantage to youtube and vehicle repair. Fixed it temporarily with a zip tie then drove it got buying and fixed it.
Your video saved my bacon on a grid road in Saskatchewan, roughly 100 km from Nowhere in Particular, and 500km from home! Fortunately its my work truck, so I had zip ties, and in short order I was back on the road with a burnt forearm (News flash: exhaust pipes get hot). Thanks for posting this!
This was beyond helpful! My temporary fix was a pair of vice grips, and hope, to get me 20 miles home from work. Simpler fix than I could have imagined. Appreciated friend!
Thank you! Your video helped me fix my truck after I watched several other videos showing this repair using the wrong Dorman part. That part broke again within a a week. I bought the right one after watching this and fixed my truck within 5 minutes. Way too many UA-camrs out there don't know what they are doing. I should have gone to the Dorman website and looked up the correct part. Live and learn.
Had this happen on my 04 Silverado just now. Popped it back on to get me in gear and home. Now off to AutoZone for the bushing. Thanks for the video...👍🏽
Thank you!!! this was great. The dealership said I had to buy the whole lower cable assembly for $130 because there is some "advanced" engineering around that bushing. LOL
Thank you for this video! I had the same issue and I used zip ties and it fix the issue so I could go to the Auto store for the 14092 bushing for 12 bucks 👍
Thanks for a video that shows an actual installation. Dorman should link to this video from their site for this part! (Theirs is only mildly helpful.) Mine is a 2015 GMC Savanna.
Dont forget to put a E clip on after you put the bushing in and reconnect it if you dnt it will pop off again at least mine did so better safe then sorry
zip tied mine as a temporary fix with like 10 zipties until the grommet comes in. planning on drilling out that metal stud and adding a bolt and metal spacer inbetween them as a permanent fix. disappointed gm would cheap out on something like this. 14 years it lasted but it shouldnt even be an issue, plastic shouldnt be used in parts like this. a metal bolt, nut with a metal eyelet mount should have been how it was made.
I couldn’t agree more with you. I hate watching videos like this it drives me nuts. Like the whole reason I’m watching it is for that exact part. Putting the actual part on🤣🤣🤣
Because it’s hell getting them on with one hand. You are wasting your time anyways because this is a temp fix. That bushing is going to shrink again in a year or two especially if you live where the temp is above 100.
If anyone here is still having the issue, they sell a slightly more expensive version of this bushing that isn’t a pressure fit, it just slides in and has a retaining ring for the other side, I didn’t wanna deal with press fitting anything, and it worked a charm
@@nathanwinsor7 I put on the kit you get from Oreillys , didn’t hold on the linkage worth a damn . So I just took off the bracket on the trans and drilled the end , put in a cotter pin . Problem solved
@@bobbieprice1351 I did for about 5 to 10 min. Until it was squisy to get it in . And then, when you connect it to shift lever I sprayed with cool water to make rigid, then press it onto the shifter. Then you might need to use a flat head screwdriver and press the edge gently where the plastic bushing sets behind the recessed head

My Savior this helped me get out of a situation fast plus you were straight to the point thanks man
Good video bro. This looks like the quickest and most simple fix
Great video straight to the point helped me out. Took me about 5 minutes. Flat head screw driver did the job. 14092
Finally found the right video. Thank you!
Agreed, this was great video 🎉
Very helpful, heading out to fix it right now. Much appreciated 👍
This video just saved me a ton of money! Thanks for the post!
I just did this this morning. I had to jack my Yukon up a little, I am a big guy... It took me longer to jack it up than to install the part
Thank you so much for sharing this fix. It was very easy.
New to the 900 platform. You saved my bacon. Thanks bro 🍺
Thanks man, You explained exactly what I needed to do.

Thanks a bunch ..much appreciated
Hard to believe original design is a snap on plastic bushing for a control of transmission. Ya would think it would have a positive metal retainer

Great information. Thank you, tons !!!!
This worked to get the shifter to move again but after fixing it my car won’t rev or accelerate. Any ideas why?
Why don’t any of these videos actually show someone putting the bushing on explaining is worthless if you can’t show someone how

How to get the plastic bushing in shifter cable? Cause ive troed everything and it wont go in
14 mm socket and pliers or a c clamp you got this champ
Also make sure your putting in the right bushing
If you get the right bushing. Put it in hot water. It softens it up and it popped right in
How hot water? How long u leve it in?@@ryanclevengersr

That little handle could catch on a twig or heavy bush and pull it out you think ???

How about using a 3D printer and print something more durable...
I'm not sure a 3D printed option would be any stronger to be honest. These are cheap enough and readily available locally, there's really no point.
