Looking forward to seeing you install the 13" head unit. Also, any ideas on adding blind spot detection? Would like it for 2011 Camry LE. Enjoy your great presentations.
Hi John, all your video's have been great!! I choose Idoing because of your videos and "Plug & Play". I did not want to buy a separate backup camera to wire thru the whole car. However my 2014 Forester XT when in reverse, the iDoing is not showing it on the screen, it is only up above in the old screen. my factory 22 pin & 16 pin is in place. Seems to me there is no place to plug in the factory USB (obviously with 3 new USB cable from Idoing) but the ground clip also has no place to go on Idoing - I do get a "Check Audio" in my factory screen above. If you have any clue, I would appreciate it. Your WRX above has twice as many factory clip / pins than my Forester. It only has four.
Just an Update: So with the 2014 Forester, you also have to remove the MFD (Multi Functional Display) Idoing does include a hardness to plug into the MFD. It is the harness that has a Purple wire, a Green wire, a Gray wire and four black square plugs. The small female plug with the green/purple wire goes into the drivers side. BTW the green wire is the camera wire & the purple wire is the "white" wire that becomes hot with 6volts, when you put the car in reverse. The second male goes to the old factory female plug. Repeat on the passenger side, these are larger. Plug the Idoing white side into the Idoing unit. It should be near the two old factory plugs. You can't miss it. It only fits into 1 slot. See if the backup camera now works.
Hey John. Struggling with getting the top of unit plugged into dash. It seems the tab clips at top are short as it won't hold in. Also...the unit doesn't recognize my camera (I have 2016 and assumed it's plugged in with big harness)
I'm having the same issue with the tabs. As far as the camera goes, I used the RCA connectors and the camera worked. I just can't get the reverse lines to show up.
@@alexortiz_911 the reverse lines were disabled in the settings. Go through your setting and you should see an option. To enable or disable the lines. I ended up taking them off. Good luck.
I know this comment was posted a super long time ago, but I had the exact same issue on my 2016 WRX, and wanted to share how I solved it. First, the fitment. I had the same problem where the top tabs seemed too short, as they would pop back out whenever I pushed in the tabs at the bottom of the unit. This is because the tabs in the TOP RIGHT AND TOP LEFT CORNERS are take a good push to get in. I was super concerned about crushing cables or breaking tabs. 1. Do your best to check that all the tabs are lined up with the hole they need to go in. 2. Slide the TOP TABS im FIRST. 3. Push on the top corners until those tabs snap in. I pushed gently alongside the vent and open palm against the SIDE of the screen to avoid putting any pressure on the screen itself. Click in each corner, even if one side at a time. 3. Once those are in, you'll notice the whole unit is basically flush. If not, they are snapped in. If they are, follow down to the bottom, line up the teeth to the slots they should slide into, and you'll likely have to push forward AND up on the bottom to get it to slide in. Once it does, everything is super snug. I initially e-mailed Idoing because I thought the unit was somehow too short, now I know it's SO snug, it is hard to get to fit, but once it does, it's in there good.
