I recommend going back to the bed frames and tie wrapping then together, so they won't slide if someone lies in the middle of the bed. Otherwise it looks great!
I like the idea but I'm concerned about someone stepping out of the bed to wee during the night and stepping on a wee one For some reason I thought it was going to be pull out drawers, THAT would have been a great transformation.
In college my boyfriend had a room with 2 twinXL beds because his roommate left after 2 weeks. So, we pushed them together, got a king mattress topper and sheets, and he had an awesome bed for pizza and movie nights and friend get togethers!! It’s one of my favorite memories from college ☺️
My roommate left too (she did finish one full semester, but once she left, the school never stuck anyone new in with me for 2nd semester) so I did this for the entire second semester. My highschool boyfriend and I went to the same college so he would sometimes spend the night in my room, and it made sleeping so much better. Those LG twin beds are awful if you have two people in one.
I would have never thought about this. It leaves so many options for guests. I think this is a must do for families that host a lot of family get togethers.
From experience the two beds will most likely start to slowly separate in the night forming a crater in the middle. I would try to find some hardware to attach the beds together at the foot and head boards. Hope it all works out 👍
I wonder if you could somehow attach maybe 4 or 5 long strips of velcro to the bottom of the mattresses to keep them snug together? IDK I'm curious as to the pricing of 2 XL twin mattresses and a king mattress. In a few months I'm turning one of our bedrooms into a guest room and ill need a king or California king mattress. My son-in-law is 6'4". I've got some research to do.
I'll never get why people have guest rooms in a normal house. It's a spare room you pay for but choose to not use it. To me this seems a waste of space, no?
This is genius! I had a trundle bed when I was younger and it was my favorite bed I've ever had. This would've been awesome for those birthday party sleepovers or for cousin sleepovers
We did this in our room to get a shorter king, to save space in our tiny bedroom in our very old building appartement. Sometimes just a few inches can make a huge difference.
I did something similar, but THEN I found out that twin beds are not as long as a King. So unless you get a Twin XL, it will be short. And Ikea unfortunately doesn't sell Twin XLs. (You'd think with all those tall Scandinavians, they'd want them!)
Oh this makes so much sense now!! I used two twin mattresses that I already had… one fit perfectly, the other is about 6 inches short… I was so confused😂 with the bedding on, I can’t tell a difference. The shorter ones might actually be better bc then you could push the beds against the wall, with the headboard overlapping the bed some, if that makes sense!
In Europe it's actually very common to have two 90cmx200cm (twin size) mattresses next to eachother in either one large bedframe or in two separate pushed together bedframes. And we don't have special names for our sizes, we just use the measurements.
Mattresses are normally 200cm long which google tells me is the approximately the same length of a king size bed. Same for IKEA beds. E.g. the Brimnes daybed in Norway has mattress size 80x200 and can be pulled out to a 160x200 bed (queen).
I have found out through SoMe that IKEA operate with different sizes in other countries. We get king length on all beds in IKEA in Norway (unless it's a junior bed), but it can be different where you live.
My granny would put a folded blanket on the foot boards. To hide the split. She had a guest room for us to sleep in when we were kids with 2 twin beds in the 80's. When granny said she had adult company visiting she would push the beds together.
Where did you buy the headboards? I love this idea and I have the same bed as the ones you turned into a king that is so cool and creative now I want to try! ❤
That’s so awesome you already have the beds! I got the headboards on wayfair, I have the exact ones linked in the blog post … champagnechaos.com/king-bed-with-two-ikea-trundles/
Ok this is a whole "trust the process" situation lol .. I was like "cute, but the footnoard.. nah" .. and then she taught me a lesson lol. It looks fantastic!
I feel like wall sconces and hanging pendants as bedside lighting is very in right now, so I can see a floating shelf (maybe with a built in drawer) on each side matching super well! I do like the idea of the rolling night stands too, especially for the epic blanket forts that could happen in this space!! It’s a matter of what fits the needs and lifestyle of the people in the space, can’t wait to see it finished
Great idea! I just wish I could find some extra long twin trundle beds. I have a tall family and child length beds are not going to do it for my guests.
Do you mind sharing a link where you found those headboards? I need to try this out! 😍
Here is the link to my blog post, where all products should be linked! champagnechaos.com/king-bed-with-two-ikea-trundles/
@@champagnechaos thank you so much!
looks like ikea. 2 twins is not a king. 2 twin EXTRA LONG is a king
@tongtonghanch.7622
did you find the head and foot boards? I couldn't get to the site
This is a dream for a cousins sleepover!
That’s exactly what I was thinking! Thank you!!
Or a family/friend with kids staying for the weekend would be perfect
Ok Boyle
But not with someone without manners, certain kids better sleep on floor because they will break this.
Sweet home Alabama🤠
I didn't even think the split looked that bad but the headboard footboard add on looks fantastic. Well done.
Thank you so much!! We used it with the split for a couple years, and it didn’t bother me much either🙌
I recommend going back to the bed frames and tie wrapping then together, so they won't slide if someone lies in the middle of the bed. Otherwise it looks great!
. . . and add a king mattress topper
@@sevenp.8640…there is already a king mattress topper on it
@@sevenp.8640So this is where someone says, "Tell us you didn't watch the video without telling us you didn't watch the video."
I was going to say this too!
Especially if theres kids jumping around, one will go straight thru the middle of those matresses.
I like the idea but I'm concerned about someone stepping out of the bed to wee during the night and stepping on a wee one
For some reason I thought it was going to be pull out drawers, THAT would have been a great transformation.
We used zip ties down the center to hold the beds together to lessen the gap and the stress on the ends.
Yes! Great idea!
I put mine together sideways, but of course that wouldn’t work with two trundles

Seriously so smart! It makes such a huge difference!
My sister's friend had her own dorm, the would come and check it make sure she wasn't using the other side

This is really clever 👏 Also super flexible in case the guests prefer not sharing the bed
Such a good point!!
girl that bed wouldve been a dream when my whole family lived in one room
Will definitely make this in the guess room 😍
That’s so awesome to hear! It’s a fun guest setup!

Absolutely! So glad we did this!
Between the upholstered headboards that look like biscuit, and the big fluffy white comforter, the whole bed looks like a smore!
I'm into it

This would be good with some rolling nightstands that could be used when the trundle be was rolled out and could easily be rolled out of the way
