When I see UA-cam notification bubble telling me that a video has been posted on Lauren's channel, my face beams with a smile and heart fills with a sense of joy. I love Lauren for the guitar playing skills that she so meticulously crafts but I love Lauren more just for the kind of person she seems. I am an Indian sitting far far away yet it feels like a connection with her, like she's a friend next door. Meeting her in person is one of my wishes and I hope to fulfill it as soon as I can. As an Extremely long term beginner here….I wish I had access to Lauren way back when I was starting and was collecting lesson plans from just about ever online teacher ….she teaches in the perfect niche for someone early on that wants to play through songs …..I’d suggest to many out there learning for the first time ….get these simple steps / songs in your bag bfore moving on to another / more difficult stuff …..you’re gonna absolutely ignore that advice , like I did / do over and over again … but hopefully you’ll realize sooner than I that you have to crawl then walk before you can run ….( strum / make chords [crawling] , count and strum in time while changing chords [walking], bring it up to speed while slowly adding in lil lead stuff[ your running now ] ….there’s more to it obviously but each step is important , don’t skip counting (like I did /do still) untill it becomes second nature getting a song “right “ won’t happen ….and believe me when I say this ….” It sucks and is harder to go backwards ,and getting through some songs without counting is sort of a trapping that’ll make more bad habits you have to correct later “….. it’s even depressing at times
@@LaurenBateman I started this journey back in October on my son's electric Squier Stratocaster which he left at home when he went to college. A few months later I picked up my wife's acoustic. Now that I have some callouses, I am able to play her Sigma 52SDR-7 by Martin and it sounds great. I find myself going to the Sigma more and more. Thanks for your great lessons.

The metronome ,as frustrating as it can be , is really a friend early on ….also tough to learn if you have to relearn,😊
