- How to make your strumming patterns sound better ✅ Check out Lauren’s Guitar Strumming Course: laurenbateman.mykajabi.com/of... - In this guitar strumming lesson, I’m going to go over cool ways to make your strumming patterns sound better when you play them. This lesson will be focused on strumming dynamics and strumming accents as a way of making the same exact guitar strumming pattern sounding better and cooler than the original.
The number one questions I get asked by students is, "Why does my strumming sound bad?" "Why does your guitar always sound better than mine?"
I will be sharing a couple of simple tips but also showing you many strumming pattern examples as ideas to expand your rhythm guitar playing. Students often ask me why my strumming patterns sound better than theirs even when they are playing the same exact thing.
We are going to go over that in this guitar strumming lesson. I don’t know if I would consider this a beginner guitar strumming lesson, but maybe more of a late beginner guitar strumming lesson. So if you just got started with playing the guitar, this lesson may not be the best lesson on guitar strumming patterns. I recommend you watch the beginner guitar strumming patterns video instead: • EASY Beginner Guitar S...

Thank you
Wish I could afford it. I love your spirit, ideas and knowledge. Thank you for this video. Beginner guitar player here. A terrible one at that! lol
Ms. Lauren,
In your style of strumming, the lightness sound like the intro to the song "San Francisco" by Scott Mckenzie. It's a very smooth strum. Btw, love learning from you, even if just on video. Would love to take actual lessons. I'm a paralyzed Disabled Veteran trying to get back out there, taking up music and playing along the way. Currently starting at Guitar Center this week but I seem to respond better taking lessons or even school from females. Myself, a girl playing guitar is freaking HOT! LOL! Thank you for your time and hope my message gets to you,,,

Accents are great, and syncopation helps too.
I'm nearly 60, I picked up a guitar for the first time a month ago and my strumming has really progressed thanks to you! I can't stop smiling! My chord progression needs a little work though! Thanks so much for this tutorial!
That's awesome!
I’m 40 just starting learning. It’s awesome!
So cool I played when I was younger and too busy. I picked mine back up and its so cool that the videos are so easy to learn. How wonderful. Have fun.
Yesterday was my 78th birthday. I've been learning and playing guitar on and off without success.
I was a computer coder and I was very good at that.
I'm 60, yeah I hate that number like bad. But I grew up with a headset on since I was 8 years old in the very late 60s. So much love music, just never had the discipline to play. I'm going to try this video alone, just try to get some strumming going and get my fingers working. My goal has been 10 minutes a day, quite reasonable, and I haven't even been able to do that. Oh well maybe inspiration this time will work
15:32 first saw a guitar at age 5 it was so big I couldn't reach the strings . I took lessons when I was 12 or 13 but was more interested in working on my go-kart. I learned all those chords though. All through school and the Marine corps I still didn't practice didn't have a guitar. Add three great boys and a great wife but still no guitar. I was at work one day helping Mr Cho do some home improvements at a house. There was nothing in the house it was all piled up in the garage but in a closet in the kitchen there was a guitar, I asked Mr cho if I could have it and he said yes all them chords came back to me after I got it tuned up but could never play any songs I didn't know how thanks to you Lauren you gave me new purpose I know I have two guitars😅❤🎉 thank you
Awww so happy to help you find your purpose with guitar again!
The only regret is not realising this beautiful guitar tuitoral channel early. But am still not late and am doing amazing after watching her beautiful and energetic tuitoral.
Glad that you found my channel 😊
Hi I am 81 years old. Learned a lot from you. You also have a great voice and should make some records.
I have! Check out my album Here I Am
I’ve been looking at guitar instructors for the last few years and trust me Lauren Bateman is the only one that is certified to teach and I guarantee success! She is the best! No if Ann’s or butts. And thank you from the bottom of my heart sweetie! For being a real guitar Teacher. For some reason the guy instructors all they wanna do is sing badly.
You're so welcome!!!
Lauren , I have been taking guitar lessons for 2 years . This is what I have been wanting to learn but didn’t know how to explain to my teacher! I appreciate this so much! This lesson was so interesting and inspiring! Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
Your smile makes the learning more wonderful and easy...Thank you for being there..
You are so welcome
Such a free-minded person this kinda person really teaches very well.👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤
Aww thank you!
I simply commend your passion in how you share your knowledge. Nicely done Lauren!
Thank you so much 😊
Hey Roh,.She's simply a for-real lady. Ya gotta love that! Or you're beyond repair. JMO. Best guitar teacher out there, me thinks. A tip: Record yourself, play it back, and just listen. You'll hear what other folks hear. Might not be what you thought it was? That happened to me. So I fixed it.
Hey you folks who utilize this tutorial. We're all aware and thankful for this lady's magic and awesome talent. Here's a tip I just discovered.
PLAY ALONG WITH LAUREN AS SHE PLAYS!
When you can do that you'll be amazed and happy with yourself because of how fast you're improving.
Just listening won't get that done. JMO
Yes! Play along with me
Hey Lauren. I don't know if you've read my posting about buying your strumming course next month, but I will. A lot of us old folks will be getting a 5.9% increase in our total monthly income, starting that month. Yippee! Beats no increase all to hell.
And It will be totally cool having you available to teach me (and my little buddy) at any time of my choosing and more importantly, eliminate those pesky ads that routinely interrupt your "free" lessons via youtube. I've learned over too many years that they're ain't no free! Right? (You don't need to answer that. LOL)
Finally, I'm an old am broadcast radio station manager and DJ, and I got my fill of ads about 50 years ago. Cuz I had to make them. Dang!
I did see your post Ron. Congrats on the increase. Much needed and we'll deserved. The strumming course is great!
You're always welcome, my friend. Let's just keep playing & singing. I think you're finally getting a little payback for all of those hours and days you continue to put in. Just helping us folks who don't play so well. Yet.
Definitely seeing the rewards now
Hi Lauren! I am a 67-year old Filipina and really a first-timer. I decided to learn playing guitar because of this boring pandemic. Your video helps me a lot. Thank you so much! Although I still have a long, long way to go😄😄😄
Best of luck! You got this! 😄
Another great lesson and a perfect way to start my day! Thanks so much!
Once again, glad to help you. Enjoy your day.
THE FIRST TIP IMPROVED IT SO MUCH BETTER LOL
Glad it was helpful!
thanks, I'm 61 yo and paraplegic, but your strumming lesson is the best I've seen on YT. I can do it now :)
So happy to help. I'm glad it's working for you!
I too have a science background. My degree is in Chemistry, which didn't help me at all playing the guitar. I love music and always dreamed of being able to play songs I love. After years of trying and failing, I have made so much more progress in the few weeks I have been playing guitar in your course. Thanks for a great course. And yes you are a great teacher, Keep it up.
Thank you Jim. I'm glad I was able to help you in your guitar journey.
Fantastic to see encouragement for young and older one's, who won't always feel old but, need loosening up (just like anyone else)! Lauren is a very pleasant teacher. A diamond!
Thank you so much Marion
Hey Marion. Lauren's a natural teacher. Her unselfish contributions of her talents to us old folks (I'm older than you, I bet?) is invaluable. She's way better than diamonds, IMO.
Agreed, there's something about this lady I can't put my finger on but it's good, whatever it is. Makes me WANT to learn from her. Lovely voice too.
So glad I found you. Great easy to follow teaching. Sweet personality!
Great teaching: simple, comprehensive, and practical.

You are a beauty to my eyes.
Thanks from Canada
Aww thank you. I don't like make-up

Thank you so much for all these great tips! I'm in the process of learning the guitar and I seem to be struggling with the strumming. I've watch multiple video's on here but you have really helped me with these to break these down and simplify them. I'm definitely going to check out your channel!
Thanks Paula 😃
Hell, everyday life's a struggle! So is strumming for a lot of us. Lauren's a natural teacher. Stick with her and you'll get better, asap. Some things I know. Have a neat Christmas.
Hey Faith. I'm an old guitar "picker". Albeit, a bad one. Lauren has helped me so much that I've just added a youtube channel that I'll be singing and playing on soon. Listen to this lady. She's so good it almost hurts! LOL
If you can hear it and feel it, and you want to play it badly enough, eventually you will. Practice, practice and then practice some more.
Lauren…. You’re a natural !! I’ve been playing guitar over 50 years using the same old strumming patterns. I’ve always wanted to add more techniques and here in this video, you’ve magically taught them all - Relaxing wrist
Accents
Karate Chops (!)
Crescendo
I’m so eager to put all these to practice 👍♥️👍
Wow, thank you! Glad to help!
Hi Lily. "Natural" nails it! One never imagined that somebody would arrive here (this planet) with so much teaching talent, but she did. Thank your God! If you have one? I've learned so much from this lady that I just joined youtube. Not quite good enough yet to start playing & singing there, but I will soon. Assuming I live that long? LOL
I'll be 80 next month. Yikes! If I can just keep my fingers and voice working for a little while longer. Reck'n we'll see? Merry Christmas.
Very helpful! Keep up the great work.
You're so welcome.

Lauren needs to learn how to sleep. IMO. She's so awesome as a teacher that she's almost scary. I now go to bed every night a little frightened but also a little happier with myself, because I can play a little better on my old, cheap guitar. Thanks Lady.
