Great teaching!!! A lot to work on for this intermediate player 😂 The strumming part I’ve got but I need to really get better at understanding how to play the notes and moving easier on the fretboard. Thanks for sharing your GOD given talents!!!
Brilliant. Love. A total first for me here. Spent over 2 decades with a blues player. Eeek for a few seconds here and there I was creating a bluesy sound. 😊Many thank.
Hi from Italy Laurean, you are awesome 🙂 I follow your videos for their clarity and effectiveness congrats! Ma I dare to ask you to make a video on how to play ooh child from the 5 stair steps, I couldn't find any clear tutorial out there! Keep up the awesome job, you are definitively I lighthouse in the vastness of youtube
Lauren, when you said that the easiest way is to sound out the strumming pattern - that is exactly how my wife suggested it when my guitar instructor gave me a strumming pattern that killed me (LOL) because it took me a while for my brain to work with it. Endless days of saying the pattern and tapping my foot and playing it so slowly to a metronome. It was frustrating how long it took but I got there and you are right - say it out loud is so important. If you are curious. Here is the pattern. I am told it's very common. (4/4 time) 1 (downstrum), and (no strum) 2 (no strum) and (up strum on the and), 3 and (no strum on the three at all) 4 and (strum up and down for the 4 and the and). He suggested to make the strumming movements even if I am not actually strumming to keep the rhythm which made it more challenging to avoid hitting the strings. Either way, It took me a couple of weeks to play it fast because my brain did not like strumming in syncopation. Thanks for the great lesson.
Great lesson as always. I learned the song using E7, A7, & B7. Both sound awesome! I do like the idea of switching between strumming and the shuffle though. Will try.
Great teaching!!!
