Overlanding a Stock Family Sedan? | Gambler 500 Adventure

In this video we take a bone stock toyota avalon with blown struts on the Oregon Backcountry Discovery route to see if your run of the mill grandma car is good enough for a overland trip. I'm bringing super basic camping gear, communications, and friends. We'll be dispersed camping for free on public lands and cleaning up the forests as we go. What else do you really need for overlanding?
We did this trip as part of the Gambler 500 rally, which is basically a cheap car challenge where you navigate backroads and off road trails in super cheap cars and pick up trash to help take care of public lands.

I purchased a beautiful like new 04 Avalon xls that I came across in Jupiter FL a little over a year ago . 88yr old owner passed on and son sold it to me . 52000mi , like new , flawless ! Thanks for the road test . The only obsticle you didn't have thrown at you is a "Buffalo winter" -- lol !!

When I car camp, I pull down the back seats, lay down the front passenger seat and remove the headrest. That way I can lay down comfortably in a compact car (I'm a 6ft guy)

When it takes long to get your key to turn like that, it means its worn out. If you bring your title to a toyota dealership, they will laser cut you a new key for $5 and you wont have that issue.
