"I am calling like the echo of a passing train that cries" is about the single most haunting line of any song ever written. And your reaction is the most elegant one posted on youtube.
Thank you sooo much for reacting to this song. It is my favorite Glenn Campbell song and one of my favorite songs of all time. This was live and really good. The studio version was stunning and haunting. Great job as usual DJ Pj-roc!
I play it on the way to funerals. It seems to help me let go. I was working in country radio when this hit the charts and I opened my show with it every time I had one. KNFT, 5 kilowatts, officially Bayard but Silver City, New Mexico. I was 16. All the “adults” couldn’t get over my taste for Glen Campbell.
Podcast or other forum sounds like a good idea. HAven't heard this one from Glen before, a bit different from what one usually expects from him. Deeper, less bubbly . . . I like it.
I think it’s very interesting, your presentation of country. Songs I’ve not heard before. Back to a country I’m not always familiar with. I appreciate your info about the time, the singer, the band members and more. I thought I knew a lot about country. Turns out I don’t. I thank you. I’m learning along with you. You offer a very professional presentation. Not just constantly interrupting the music in fear of UA-cam. Maybe you feel silly at times. You’re not. It’s a few moments of peace and fun I look forward to. Thank you for some sanity in this media world.
If you get a chance, would you do the song “Crying” by Glen? The video is in black & white and is from early in Glen’s career. Maybe some time in the 1960’s.
One one of the videos I remember Glen saying he and Roy had an agreement. Glen would never play Malagueña and Roy would never play the William Tell Overture. ua-cam.com/video/lxDQQDF6j0Y/v-deo.html
Really a pretty song. This is my first time hearing it. Glen did a good song : Manhattan Kansas. I really like the song, and for many years I lived about 2 hours away from there.
It’s a little different from what I’m used to hearing from him; there’s a power to this song that seems more personal. He’s always been a favorite with my family. I might have one of his vinyl albums in the collection I chose from my mom and dad. Thank you so much for your reaction on this song.
I see your doing lot of Glen Campbell songs he had lots of great ones he died from Alzheimer's his daughter Ashley Campbell wrote a great song for her dad called I will do the remembering
Meditation and prayer works for me. So what sort of things do you want to talk about? Current events, politics, religion, race relations... or maybe something less hot button like fishing, Hobbys, and pets?
I personally would like to flip the script like your friend tried to. I love some oldies. Etta, Cook, Aretha even some Muddy and Billie Holliday. Yet know I'm missing out on some great music. Sorry to be long winded.
The album had a different feel. Songs are recorded in hopes that they sell. So usually that dictates what is chosen and how it is produced. But once in a while, an artist will do an album of what they want. That is what this album feels like. This is also the album with the song I like that he did with Steve Warner, The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, a very country sounding song.
@@DjPjrocReacts911 what i haven't been able to find out is why those two got together. Glen could chose anyone to team up with. Steve was never a super star, he did have some hits. He had a good voice and it blends well with Glen. I just thought it was the most traditional sounding song I ever heard Glen do.
Glen Campbell & Jimmy Webb are the Elton John & Bernie Taupin of Country music. Lots of songs came from those two over the years, not a bad one in the bunch!
It would be nice to have a civil discussion on topics where people don’t get personally insulting just because they disagree. I have been unfriended by friends and family alike on Facebook, called insulting names. When I was growing up I remember listening as family and friends sat around the kitchen table, talking all kinds of subjects, and there were very opposing views. But at the end, everyone was still family and friends. What happened to that?
@ColonialBuckeye I think they stopped teaching debate in high school. I found it interesting in the Parkland Fla, mass school shooting when people were stating that the student advocates from that school could not be as articulate as the appeared. I dug a little deeper into the subject and discover that county starts debate training in the lower grades and has it throughout high school. Plus the teens that were speaking out were on the debate team and had already debated on gun control. So I was trying to explain to their detractors on Facebook, that no matter what side of the gun debate issue one was on, they should admit that learning how to debate could develop articulate, thinking young adults. They still would not believe it. But maybe if children had been taught to debate all these decades, those now grown would have had the skill with words to deal with anger and frustration inside them. And they would have been trained in how to settle disputes nonviolently. But when common people cannot have a civil discussion on issues without resorting to personal insults, no wonder those with mental or emotional problems resort to violence.
@@DjPjrocReacts911 find a way to bring it back in groups like ours. My own brothers have insulted me on Facebook because they don’t agree with my views. They weren’t raised that way. Two brother in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, unfriended me. And I always endeavor to make it about the issues. Maybe I just took the lessons taught me to heart more. I remember when Malcolm X was scaring the hell out of white men. I was just a kid, and it was one of those conversations around the kitchen table. It made me a little afraid. When I went into the living room I said something about to my mom. She asked me what did Malcolm X actually say. I said he was going to kill white people by any means necessary. She said no, that he said he had a right to protect his property and his family by any means necessary. I said of course he does. She told me never to believe what someone tells me someone else said. Don’t let them interpret for me. Dig down to the source and make up my own mind. After that I had no reason to fear Malcolm X and have tried to follow her advice, and discovered there were very few I had to fear in life. But too many people now believe what they have been brainwashed into believing, sometimes like fanatics in a cult, and there is no reasoning with them. They have made up their minds, don’t confuse them with the facts. We need more people with the wisdom of my mother.
You know your detractors, based on their reactions to a more innocent topic like music, will try to turn it into a personal rant page. But even that could be educational. However, I hope it can be a place for discussion, exploring the various sides of topics, some enlightenment, etc. When the world seemed to be going to hell in a hand basket back in 2016, people stopped posting cute animal and baby pics, and an online war broke out. I vowed then I would not unfriend anyone for their comments or their beliefs. No matter how much I disagreed, it was important that I not stifle another. Now I did delete a few of my posts when friends from both sides of the issue devolved into personal insult, and BOTH side were guilty of this. As time went on, however, there was much less discourse as many simply unfriended and BLOCKED me so I couldn’t even see their page any more. Usually, it was because I posted a fact and the links to it, that they refused to believe. One distant cousin and I would go at it verbally in a heated go round, but we never made it personal. He actually stated that if he blocked everyone who disagreed with him, he would never learn anything. That is the way I felt. Sadly, he had to get off Facebook completely when George Floyd was killed. Even though he totally condemned the action of those cops, as police himself, the hate started coming his way, even from friends. On the positive side, pics of babies and cute animals have returned to Facebook. Some fok
Folks have complained about that but I tell my young friends, coworkers, and family to keep the baby pics coming. Cheers me up and keeps me focused on why we need to keep trying to make this a better world, for them, the innocents.
Great reaction again PJ. I think you'd love this one from Glen. It's about a struggling man dreaming of success. ua-cam.com/video/8kAU3B9Pi_U/v-deo.html

These two guys were quite a match over the years. Turned out some beautiful music.
Whoa, I'm first? Awesome! Love your reactions
Already following your hip hop channel. A channel of thought and discussion would be very nice.
This is from one of my fave albums- he had a bunch of good ones. I like “I have you” from him as well.
If you make another channel we will follow.

You must look up some musical duets between Glen and Roy Clark they will blow you away. I have never heard this song. Thank you P. J.!
You could always tell those two really loved playing with each other. Ghost Riders In The Sky.

This song to me is more about a runaway or missing child than an old lover...brilliant writing by Jimmy Webb.

By the way that IS Jimmy Webb playing piano.

Did you loose it?
@@DjPjrocReacts911 it was painful, so I dropped it and never had another one.

I am very open. Pets, fishing, our climate. Maybe music education, the wonders of meditation.

It's all good Beth.
How about Lyle Lovett & His Large Band - That´s Right You´re Not From Texas. I think you will enjoy it.
@Greg White
Coming soon my man.
