Leslie Nielson was amazing and don't call him Shirley
NIELSEN
he had the first half of his long career as a serious actor (watch and react to one of his first movies from 1956, the scifi "Forbidden Planet"), then came "Airplane!" in 1980 which a lot of serious actors played dead seriously (which is part of why it was so funny), and for him it started the second half of his career consisting of (almost?) only this kind of movies.
OMG! I was about to say that quote too! One of the greatest lines in Airplane... Surely you are kidding! No I'm not, and don't call me Shirley! So freaking hysterical!
@@tysonthomas7094
Rumack : Captain, how soon can you land?
Captain Oveur : I can't tell.
Rumack : You can tell me. I'm a doctor.
Captain Oveur : No. I mean I'm just not sure.
Rumack : Well, can't you take a guess?
Captain Oveur : Well, not for another two hours.
Rumack : You can't take a guess for another two hours?
🤣🤣🤣
@Johnny2Feathers LMFAO definitely my favorite quote hahahaha
RIP Leslie Nielsen.
Thank you for the years of laughs.
You are missed by millions.
"Let 'er rip".
yes its true
half his career as serious actor (eg 1956 "Forbidden Planet", good story and SFX for that time, waiting for anybody to react to it), then in 1980 "Airplane!", followed by the second half of his career being this kind of funny movies.
Only real OGs get that quote ✌️
Them happily skipping out of Platoon is one of my favorite gags in a movie ever.
" happily"?? ..They were almost dying of laughter 😂😂
You kids need to see the Weird Al movie... get educated on the entertainer that's been making polka since before you were born
Platoon may have still been in theaters when shooting.
The eye poke is from the 3 stooges
Looked like Game 1 of the Fever / Sun
When Leslie Nielsen passed, ESPN published an obituary for the legendary umpire/opera singer, Enrico Pallazzo. It was surprisingly heartwarming and I think Leslie Nielsen would have loved it.
Also, Leslie Nielsen was a one of a kind comedian that is missed, but not forgotten.
That was Reggie Jackson 😂
Ironically Reggie Jackson was known for his cantankerous personality and O.J. was known for his easy going personality. If you were going to guess which one would snap and go off the deep end most people would think it would be Reggie and not The Juice.
Weird al goes back to 77 i believe. The dudes a gem.
Just (about half an hour ago)bought our tickets to see him next July! Lifelong fan, first time seeing him. One of the truly unproblematic celebs out there.
Leslie struck gold when he transistion from traditional acting to comedy. His older brother was an MP and deputy prime minister in Canada.
4:03 you're right. Those were Ayatollah Khomeini, Idi Amin, Mikhail Gorbachev, Yassir Arafat, and Mummar Ghaddafi
Indeed. The producers were fortunate to be able to cast the actual terrorist dictators for their cameo appearances. :)
Also Papsmier was there as well

The funniest joke no longer hits: Nielsen and Presley laughing their asses off coming out of PLATOON.
That might be my favorite part. Platoon is the perfect choice.🤣
I need to watch that movie
I always loved the name of the hospital--Our Lady of the Worthless Miracle.
AIRPLANE was where you saw Leslie Neilson before. The Zucker brothers did that movie too. The killer secretary is their Mom. She is also the lady in Airplane that smears her lipstick across her face. She is in all their movies. The Zucker brothers have done many many movies. CLUE isn't theirs, but it is a comedy from the board game. It's slapstick, but not as "cheesy" as this one. It's one of my all time favorites. I can quote each line by heart.
Charlotte Zucker must have had her hands full raising the Zucker boys.
Not only were those doughnuts $1.99, they had gluten and transfats in them yummy
It seems like the healthier we try to live (dietary wise) the more health issues we discover. Let’s go back to eating like s--.
when i was little, the grocery store made fresh donuts & they were $3 a dozen
& warm & melted in your mouth & they were sooo good
The opening sequence had audiences SCREAMING with laughter. All of us KNEW every character at that meeting.
This movie always cheered me up when I'm having a bad day. It's so hilarious 🤣🤣
Plus, if you compare your day to Nordberg's, it'll definitely cheer you up.

When Leslie Nielsen passed away ESPN did a tribute to Enrico Pallazzo. RIP Enrico, and thanks for all the laughs.
Werid al made a movie around the same time frame, called UHF, Its a classic. Highly recommend.
Call me Mr.butterfingers 😂😂😂 that movie is the most random thing I seen as a kid n I loved it lol the Indian jones bit n then smashed to a burger, the food scene, karate n so many more funny bits in that

Holy crap! I never caught that! I can't believe I missed that. I saw this movie in the theater when it came out.
You guys should check out "Team America: World Police", from the creators of South Park. It's wicked funny. Dont watch any clips....enjoy it without spoilers. Its a trip.
Those were pistachio nuts they were eating in the car that was changing thoer lips red. In the 80s, companies used to cover the pistachio shells in like a red powder. I think it got banned at some point, so you don't see them anymore with the red
Red or green
@shawnmiller4781 did they come in green too? I just remember my dad used to get the red ones all the time and eating them as a kid
Pistachios bruise/blemish easily - especially since they were being imported from distant producers like Turkey so they dyed them to cover the imperfections. It wasn't until some changes in the federal tax codes that raising pistachios in the US became economically viable. Once the US grown nuts entered the market they really did not need the dye anymore and there were growing concerns about safety at the time so they stopped dying them.
They were scrawny imports covered in powder to hide the low quality. Nowadays we get boss level pistachios from California.
😃👍
@@shaunrose8975 They weren’t nearly as common.
Priscilla Presley (Jane) was married to Elvis up until his death in 1977.
And the actress who plays The Mayor is Nancy Marchand, Tony Soprano's mother :)
That's the mom? She annoyed tf out of me while watching The Sopranos
Elvis and Priscilla divorced in Oct 1973.

Soon to be the next movie Naked Gun 2 & 3
And all 3 are solid and good for laughs from front to end.
2½ & 33⅓
Remo Williams made for a pretty solid villain in 33⅓.
Great reaction! Those red nuts are pistachios! They used to be dyed red because oil from workers hands would show fingerprints on the shells if they didn't. I think they are picked by machines now, so unnecessary.
Close, at that time they were only grown in the middle east and they were dried on the ground where they landed, so as a result they ended up being stained, this is why the western markets ended up dyeing the pistachios, to hide the blemishes. Eventually some plants were smuggled to America and a domestic source was created. The American growers used nets beneath the trees so the product wouldn't land on the ground and stain. That's why the dye is no longer used.
Prescilla played in it elvis ex
A. What's OJ doing sneaking around?
A. Practicing.
That was Nancy Marchand (Livia Soprano) playing the mayor.

The woman who was briefly under control was Charlotte Zucker, who was actually David and Jerry Zucker's mother. She cameoed in their films until her passing in 2007.

That, absolute classic!!! The Naked Gun Trilogy lifts my spirits when he's not there! xD Leslie Nielsen, he is the standard and quality of comedy! Rest in peace...
4:03 - you are correct. The opening scene shows all of the big-name enemies of the US at the time the film was made. So you have Gorbachev, Idi Amin, Gaddafi, the Ayatollah Khoemini, Castro, Yasser Arafat, and someone from the IRA.
Gorbachev was more like a friend, which is why it's funny that he's at the meeting and says that he has the Americans convinced that he's a nice guy.
"Hey! It's Enrico Palazzo! He saved the queen!"
Wait, wait wait wait wait, how old are you guys? How have you not seen the naked gun yet? Just kidding enjoy.
Leslie Nielson was also in a Stephen King movie called : CREEPSHOW. And his partner was in CREEPSHOW 2. Also you have the actor who played the bad guy that was on " Fantasy Island " & " Star Trek The Wrath Of Kahn ".
He was also in "Forbidden Planet".
@@EudociaJanampalet's nor forget " Cool Hand Luke "

ricardo montalban was his name. he did a bit a voice acting as well, he was even in a episode of the cartoon "freakazoid" where he was the voice of a sentient cow.
This is the series that made OJ a movie star.... And he was loved like Mike Tyson is now by everybody..... And then he was driving a white bronco😂😂😂😂
OJ's first movie was The Klansman in 1974, with Richard Burton, Lee Marvin, & Lola Falana. That same year he was part of the large all-star cast disaster movie The Towering Inferno, a huge hit at the time. My favorite movie with him in it, apart from the Naked Gun trilogy, is The Cassandra Crossing (1977), with really cheesy dialogue but a wonderful cast and story. Unfortunately, OJ was a terrible actor, contributing nothing of value to any of these movies; he fine in the Naked Gun movies because he only had to do slapstick, not anything requiring acting talent. He has one scene in the first episode of Roots, which was specially written for him because he asked to be in the show, and the makers of the miniseries felt they couldn't say no to him; they should have said no, as his performance is wooden and the scene does not help advance the story in any way.
@@richardzinns5676 yeah he was a terrible actor.🤣🤣🤣.... But because he was so loved as a legendary football player... everyone just couldn't get enough of OJ Simpson, not until he got into that white bronco....... And let's not kid ourselves.. like it or not he still lived a pretty good life way better than most... Before prison and after prison.........
Hey guys great reaction! 🤣 BJ you recognize Leslie Nielsen from his role as the doctor in the movie ‘Airplane’. He goes back to the 1950s. He was always a serious, no nonsense type of actor. 1956’s sci-fi ’Forbidden Planet’ is an example. He had a second career as a comedic actor in several movies of this era. The partner was George Kennedy. Oscar winner. Another acclaimed, tough guy actor from the 1960s and 70s also playing it for laughs.
The driving instructor was John Houseman, yet another acclaimed "serious" actor, best known as the professor in "The Paper Chase"

Weird Al would have been about 28 when this movie was made, he is the same age as me (~64 or 65). He had his first parody songs back in the mid-70's, I believe.
BJ I've watched quite a few channels react to this and I'm pretty sure you're the only one who got Gorbachev. Nicely done!

Leslie Nielsen was/is simply the BEST at silly comedy with his straightlaced deliveries. Also, once y'all enjoy this gem, 2 1/2 & 33 1/3 are more than worth a watch. Thank you for bringing the fun to UA-cam!
And the “Police Squad!” series!
Bj!!! You are on point! Asia too! But BJ reacting had me spitting 211Steel Reserve through my nose!!!!!
When they were on the stakeout they were eating pistachio nuts.
Back then most pistachios were imported and people used to think a blemish on the shell mean't the nut inside was bad so companies coated them in red or green powder to cover up blemishes.
Now that most of our pistachios are grown here in the US companies quit coating them in powders to cover up blemishes.
21:30 Those are old-fashioned pistachios. Most pistachios that were imported into the US prior to the late 90s used to have a red dye powder all over them to mask imperfections on the nuts and shells. This would lead to getting the dye all over your fingers and lips after cracking open the shells. As the early 2000s rolled around, the United States became the second largest supplier for Pistachios and now almost all Pistachios sold in the US (97% or so) come from California. So most places around the country haven't experienced dyed pistachios in 20-30 years. It has been at least 25 years since I've seen them here.
This movie is a twist on a serious TV show from the late 1950s called ‘M Squad’. It starred big time movie actor Lee Marvin.
welll... actually this is a serious movie based on a serious TV show from the early 1980s called "Police Squad'. It starred big time TV/movie actor Leslie Nielsen.

@@Gravydog316 yeah I skipped the what was it? 6 episode series because it’s not relevant.
You guys are great, but can we do something about moving the Regan McNeil poster from "The Exorcist" out from behind Asia's head and out of view?
It is totally freaking me out seeing someone as sweet and funny as Asia, having a demonic presence as menacing as Regan McNeil right behind her, staring into our very souls.
It’s really a shame O.J. went and killed his ex-wife, probably… He legit had a successful acting career ahead of him, in my opinion.
I remember some of my high school chums singing Al Yankovic's "My Bologna" back in 1980. Weird Al had not hit it big, but somehow they had heard of him.
Whats up ya'll. I can't til Scare-octer.
The red things they were eating were not 'Boston peanuts'. They were red pistachio nuts. Pistachio shells are naturally beige. But, after the pistachios are dried the shells become beige and brown and not very appealing looking. So, they were dyed red to hide the 'ugly' shells. While eating red dyed pistachio, your lips, tongue and fingers would turn red - as shown in the movie. The process of dyeing the pistachios red ended in the 1990s, not long after this movie.
Asuia and Bj missed LIVIA SOPRANO AS THE Mayor of Los Angeles
Yessss! Nordberg !!!

The naked gun was originally a tv series that aired in 1982 as police squad and was cancelled after only 6 episodes, 6 years later they turned it into the movie The Naked gun : from the files of police squad. There are episodes of it posted here on YT it was just as funny maybe even funnier than this movie
The driving instructor was played by John Houseman, known for playing the hard-nose law professor in "The Paper Chase."
Police Squad was a tv series,it was hilarious but only ran for one season. The Naked Gun movies were a continuation of that show
More like half a season. It's not a show where you can take your eyes off the screen for half a second to eat your Hungry Man dinner.
Reggie Jackson was always the funniest guy in the locker room. This movie had ya LOL and hearty-- From the guys who bought ya other rowdy comedies like " Airplane" , " Fatal Instinct" and tons of other laughs, including thier future job writing for Fox's " The SImpsons" I really liked how Neilsen went from cop shows and dramas in the 60's 70's, then wound up doing these comedies. Naked Gun 2, is pretty funny, but not as good as this one.
Ricardo Montebaum used to hawk an automobile with "FINE CORINTHIAN LEATHER" my little brothers used to crack us up with their suave & d'bon aire accents. Silly they kept everyone young and old in stitches. My baby brother is now 65. Imagine that.
This may be funniest movie ever. Love it. That lady wasn't a golden girl but the director's mother. She's in all his movies, the lady in Airplane trying to put on makeup for one.

Nielson actually was a really really good serious actor. I recommend watching his serious work as well..shirley you´ll love it too. Oh and his "boss" played by George Kennedy even won an oscar for his serious work..so this cast is insane. Also my favorite scene in this movie is, when they are in the lab and walk to the next room and everybody uses the door expect Nielson who walk right past the set..that is so epic and nobody notices it
I thought BJ was going to have to relocate after the "baby skunk" comment LOL! Asia looked like she was getting ready to do a spinning back-kick on BJ after he said that LOL!
Hilarious reaction!!! I watched this on VHS with my dad in 93' when I was 9 years old! Watching it now and getting the jokes is crazy! Thank y'all!!!!
Weird Al did a movie back in 1989 called "UHF" - its a movie of its time but flew under the publics radar back then. Its a cult classic today.
16:28 The Gent on screen left is John Housemen. Kind of an important figure in theater and film. He pal'd around with Orson Welles.
It always cracks me up when people under 40 don't realize that pistachio nuts used to be dyed red. 😁
Y’all have to check out The Other Sister and My Bestfriend’s Wedding
I am not yet thru the video, but so far no mention has been made that the love interest is Pricilla Presley, ex wife of Elvis who pretty much runs Graceland now.
You'd recognize Leslie Nielsen from the Scary Movie movies
