- I used to love McDonald's sausage biscuits and egg McMuffins! I veganize them in this video, complete with tofu egg patties, homemade vegan breakfast sausage, and whole wheat biscuits from scratch. :)

1:10 - That's the secret when they make any sort of produced meat too. Sausages don't generally taste like anything if not for the added spices. That's why so long as you get the texture right, making the fake meat taste convincing (so long as you're trying to mimic processed food and not straight up beef and such) is a cinch.

Wow!! Thank you so much Sarah! I was a hard-core egg lover before going vegan and this tofu "egg" patty has been life changing! I was doing fine without eggs. No cravings at all and getting into the tofu scramble and using aqua faba for baking.
But damn.
If you can have a bit of that eggy taste, so yum!!!!

I made the tofu "egg" patty for my omni husbands bday breakfast and he was throughly impressed. Threw an almond "hollandaise" sauce on top with spinach, shallots, heirloom tomatoes and fresh herbs. Beyond words. Thank you!!

i pretty much did the same thing with the "egg" for the breakfast sandwich, only I coated the tofu in nutritional yeast, turmeric, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and salt/pepper then fried it in vegan butter and holy smokes! so good. Didn't have black salt but I'm sure that would be a great addition, I'm getting sick of oats so the savory breakfasts really help!
I am LOVING what you're doing with the TVP. Never would've thought to form it into patties. Definitely going to make those today.
My favorite "meat" patty I've made so far, for sure! Something about the texture of TVP is just spot-on.
I just made these this weekend (Finally ordered the salt off of amazon) and while i did not make homemade TVP sauseege.(way tooo lazy) I used the life whatever brand (omg good) and wow. THIS WAS SO GOOD. The salt really does add just that perfect eggy taste to it. It's funny how much palette is changing (January 5th was my 1 year veganniversary). I used to gag and tofu and now i LOVE It. Thanks Sarah!

You can definitely make a big batch and refrigerate/freeze for quick breakfasts.

Hi Sarah, I've just made your tofu egg and it's delicious and so 'eggy'. I've tried to make other 'egg' foods with the black salt before, but by coating the tofu with a dry mix and the black salt and then frying, boy, it's so so good!!

This is amazing! I love that you did every piece of it from scratch. I get so lazy and do packaged vegan sausage, but I like your version with the TVP much better. The tofu "egg" is a great idea, never thought of doing that before. :D
It was a project for sure...Usually I'd just use packaged sausage as well but I wanted to try something new. :)

I've made these before with vegan friendly english muffins, daya cheddar, gardein sausage patties and tofu rounds sprinkled with turmeric, garlic powder, chili powder, black salt and pepper. Not healthy but so good for when I'm craving my old life lol
The gardein sausage patties are sooo good. (Actually everything by gardein, if I'm honest haha.)

Where do you get these recipes at? I veganize as much of everything I can but doing it from scratch is time consuming. You can also try buck wheat as the base for your sausages and add the flour etc.. as normal. I used it to make meatballs. I'm going to try that "egg mcmuffin soon!" Thanks for the recipe!

I'm still confused as to why McDonald's hasn't made a veggie burger.
we have one in the UK
Taja Even if they did make a veggie burger unless they are grilling it on a separate grill or flat top it wouldn't end up being vegetarian or vegan. Burger King has a veggie burger but they cook it on the same grill as the meat so it gets cross contaminated :(
Kimberly Henry cross contamination doesn't bother me, as long as it doesn't have any animal product in it, I'm happy
Taja but it would end up with animal product in it if it is cooked on the same grill as meat. The juices that come out of meat when it is being cooked would then be absorbed by the veggie patty. That is what I mean by cross contamination and the veggie burger no longer being considered vegetarian or vegan at that point.
Cross contamination doesn't mean it's not vegan. Veganism is about minimising your impact on animal suffering as best you can. Cross contamination neither intends on consuming animal products nor pays for them. I agree it's unhygienic but I wouldn't say it wasn't vegan

I am definitely gonna try this! Is there anyway that for some of your recipes, you could tell us the total time it took you to prepare the meal?? I'm gonna start grad school soon and am planning on working too, and want to continue cooking meals at home, but sometimes it's so hard to find time to prepare a good meal 😩
You make a good point! I will try to start including approx times moving forward. It would probably take a full hour to prepare everything from scratch in this video, but it could be part a meal prep for a couple days at a time.

The butter recipe calls for coconut fat. I'm allergic to coconut, and I won't use palm oil. Is their an alt way of making it, or just do without? There is a vegan pancake recipe that uses only canola for its oil, I wonder if that could be modified into biscuits. If you can't find TVP, you can grind up some dry cooked sausage seitan, and go from there. Thank you for sharing your recipe!
You can for sure make a drop biscuit recipe with another kind of oil. The texture will be a little different since the other oils are liquid at room temp, but they can still be super fluffy and delicious!

No I haven't! I haven't actually seen any of the pockets in stores. Where have you found them?
I found them at my local supermarket (publix) and i live in a podunk town in south florida. . I was like oooh...i tried the breakfast one and the pizza one (the fake pork one looked too scary). I LOVED the breakfast one.
